I purchased this item a year ago and have had more problems out of this camera than any I've SLR I've ever owned. 1. piece came loose in my lens and now my pictures will not focus and lens won't fully extend. 2. When I remove my external flash, the normal flash will not fire. 3. the grips on the camera have come loose. I am very unsatisfied with this Canon product and will more than likely go back to Nikon

I'm in love with this camera.Is great, I spent a lot of time comparing this camera to the Canon T3i and then with the 4Ti and I decided the 60D because of the body construction. The great quality of the construction materials, the digital screen on the top of the body and the control wheel worth the extra cash.The same day I bought this camera I also ordered a 4Ti of a friend, is a good camera but it feels the same as the XSi, T1i, T2i...I mean, all of them looks the same. The touch screen is just a fancy addition, not that great, the external LCD of the 60D is way more useful.

I WAS a Canon shooter (40D), with a bevy of great lenses, until I was tempted by the fruit of Nikon after sampling a friends camera.I bought a similar class body (D90) to the 40D, and then some of their decent middle of the road lenses, as I had done with Canon.I sold off all of my Canon gear, in hopes for a new experience, a new frontier to explore.Well, after a full year of solely Nikon shooting, with only Nikon lenses on the D90, I realized my mistake. I should have never switched. I guess I knew this early on, but I was now invested, and didn't want to jump ship too soon (though I should have).The images lacked punch, that dynamic Canon hit was missing. I was bored with the D90's results, whereas I was typically impressed with Canon. I also was less than impressed with the Nikon GUI and tactile experience. After a full year, I still never felt comfortable handling the D90. It seemed awkward to use, and not very intuitive.Well, I am now back with Canon.I bought a 60D with the 18-135, added a 28 1.8, and couldn't be happier.From my first shots until the present, I gotta say, It feels good to be back. There's no place like home!The 60D is a very good to excellent camera. Highly recommended.I can't believe how much I missed Canon's image quality, and the ease of use that their cameras have. They seem to bring the most important elements of their pro cams to their prosumer/enthusiast SLR's. Nikon, not so much.Canon 60D thoughts;Pros:-Quality of Images is Excellent relative to your lens.-Camera body size is perfect. Just big enough (and I have big XL hands)-Interface/User experience is excellent & typical Canon-Cost is a steal for the quality and features.Cons:-I do not like the cheap feel the buttons and the wheel have.-Plastic feel needs to be improved. How much more could it cost to beef it up a bit?-that's it.Loving everything else.

I bought this camera with lot of expectations upgrading from a 4 year Canon XTI. I was utterly disappointed that the camera was not sharp at all. I mean if this was my first SLR I would never know. My XTI produces much sharper images with the same 50 MM prime lens. There is no way I could justify the cost for getting poor quality images.I have to saw Amazon was very nice to accept the return for a full refund.

This is my first DSLR camera and I'm happy that i bought a very good camera as my first camera. Video is good, picture quality is good, all functions are easy to use but only disappointment was its doesn't have touch screen on the whole its very good camera and will recommend to my friends to buy it.

I needed a backup for my 5d Mark 2 and considered another 5dm2 a 5dc 5 7d and the 60d. After reading many reviews and seen some samples online I finally decided on the 60d.After exactly 6 month now I can said it was a good choice. While all the other are great camera as well the features and price of the 60d are a great value. I haven't use it for video just stills and it just a great camera.

My last EOS camera was a 20D and have upgraded to the 60D. I have been looking at the 7D and 60D features and reviewed performances from DPREVIEW.com and also from the-digital-picture.com These 2 sites have detailed review notes and explains their process for doing their tests.The feature I liked most were the auto ISO and swivel screen. I am aware that using the swivel screen (invoked by live view mode button) to focus is slow, but since i do not do sports shooting that much nor do I take pictures as a profession, I will use the live view mode when I want to see the image on a 3 inch screen rather than on the eye view finder. I am very happy with it, it allows me to shoot at body level.The next feature that I never had on my 20D is the auto IS0, I noticed on my indoor shots the ISO will be at 3200, even when I am at Aperture priority set at 2.8. The picture quality is not that grainy. I noticed that with the blu ray movies i have seen that the low light scenes are also grainy but it captures the mood of the available light. I like this feature because I will get the right exposure always without manually setting the ISO.I bought the 60D over the 7D because I was trying to use the savings to buy a better flash and a vertical grip and also a remote switch. I also forego the compact flash I already own in favor of the SDXC format since I only have 3 CF memory cards.Of course the 7D is more money because it is more durably built and has more features that I may not need on most occasions. Example would be the more added weather sealing, more cross points focusing, alloy body, AF lense adjustment. For me this is minor, and same is tru for the mouse that I have grown familiar with. I am not bothered with using the new mouse.With the 60D, I have the features I want and allow me to buy the vertical grip and upgraded flash and remote switch with the savings from not getting the 7D. Owning a DSLR is costly if one wants the best, and the 7D is one of the best.

This camera is a smaller version of the 7D and competes very well against the newer Nikon D7000.The material is polycarbonate, which is cheaper but strong enough and lighter than metal. Ergonomics is very good, if you get used to relying on right hand to control almost everything. Performance is snappy, instant lock on under most cases, with 9 AF points being cross type. Battery is identical to the one used in 7D and the 5D Mark II, translating to excellent life. Image quality is very high, slightly "darker" than the T2i. Low light / ISO performance is nearly as good as my Nikon D7000, and considering it is $300 cheaper, this is a great camera. I don't use the flip screen for video, but I do use it for instant feedback when I take pictures of myself using a remote and a tripod - very handy. Depending on your perspective, this screen can be a liability since it is not as sturdy as a flat/fixed screen.Kit lens (18-200mm) is capable but is not very strongly built. My copy has focus hunting issues.

All details has already been writen. I've been taken pics of amateur baseball games and I recommend this purchase 100%.Speed of focus and shooter is great.Cons: heavy if you take it to, for example, Universal Studios, Six Flags, Disneyland, where I prefer a point-and-shoot.

I love my canon 60D. I just have one complaint...the thumb rest mat is coming apart. Is there a solution to this problem besides sending it in for replacement ? Is there a type of glue that will stick? Anyone else have this problem?NikkieThumb mat?..... Where you place your thumb when taking a picture.

Purchased the EOS 60D with 18-135 lens kit based on so many good comments.What a mistake! On the first day of test using fully automatic setting, I noticedgradual distortion between 28 mm to 18 mm at ISO 100 to 400. Noticeble distortion begin to appear near the center focus at 28 mm and worsens when widening to 18mm.I did a quick seach on the web for 60D distortion, CNET has a review reporting same issue with unkind comments:[...]The reviewer used a statue which for an untrained eye is very difficult torecognize and appreciate the distortion. In my case, I used vertical blinds as test object.At ISO less than 400, a $1200 DSLR should be prefect in every shot. A $1200 DSLR has near center distortion is completely unacceptable!The EOS utility 2.10.2.0 is useless when used with Windows 7 pro. I have to take my old XP out of garage attic to get the photos off the new 60D and play with its remote features.60D takes great looking picures, but are they truthful? No metter how good, how expensive the construction feels; a camera's top priority is taking realistic photos. PERIOD.

This is my first camera purchase since the 1st generation Rebel DSLRs came out. It was worth the wait and worth every penny!! Amazing camera. No complaints here!! Canon lover forever!!FYI, this camera did take almost 2 months to arrive from Amazon. Don't be in a huge hurry to get it at your door!

I've been using my 60D for wildlife and astro imaging for over 1 year - in temperatures as low as 35 degrees (using an AC adapter for astro imaging). I am extremely pleased with its performance and find the articulating screen a joy to use. It's not quite as robust as my 40D, but has superior image quality, allowing me to get the best out of my lenses and telescopes - the 4.3 micron pixels are invaluable in obtaining the sharpest photographs. I have absolutely no complaints about how the camera performs - for conventional photography. For video, it uses MOV files which I find to be cumbersome at best. Since I rarely shoot video it has not been too much of a problem. Highly recommended!

For the price you pay and even with that thrown aside this is one of the best dslrs you can get. If you are into sport photography or are a videographer the 1080p HD recording capability with both 24p and 30 are worth the money. Boasting a 18 mp sensor (same as t2i up to 7D) this camera with flip open and rotating LCD screen are fantastic. The ability to shoot at 5.3 fps and with a shutter speed of 1/8000 to 30" is impressive for the price. Very satisfied!

i have seen some stuff on here complaining about the video of the 60D or the photo in my opinion maybe u are just to much of a beginner or need to find out how to use it.the camera is amazing i use it mostly for cinematography and time lapses and it more than gets the job doneto compare to a nikon at the same price would be a waste of my time because a D7000 doesn't match it and is more expensivei have used a 7D a lot i think they are pretty equal in most areas the things that make the 7D better have no purpose to me i would take the flip out screen for better angles over a magnesium body i like the 7D but not worth 500 more dollars to me.i don't care for the specs this is hands down a great camera that has tons of potential.

The last SLR I owned was a Canon Rebel 2000 35mm. I liked that camera, but until digital came along, I could never really understand how to set my camera the way I wanted to. That is, not without wasting rolls and rolls of film. Something I never could justify doing. Then came the digital age of photography and I embraced it with a passion. But until recently I could never afford another SLR. Along comes the Canon 60D and a surgery that required three weeks of recovery (a blessing in disguise). Sitting in my recliner with my Canon 60D in hand, I watched every youtube video and every article I could find on the internet about photography and the 60D itself (literally hundreds of hours). It was a free college course in photography from my easy chair. And in the process I got to know my new camera inside and out. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. It has everything an aspiring amateur is looking for in a camera (other places will give better details than me). I must say that every time I think that my camera might be lacking in one area or another, I have been proved wrong. I do recommend that if you are buying this camera, I would get a kit lens with it. I opted to get just the body, because I still had the lenses from my Rebel Camera, but the kit lenses are made for the new digitals and for a couple hundred dollars more you get a good performing lens.

Just received this camera in the mail last week as an upgrade to my XSi. If you are contemplating the same move, i will tell you it's definitely worth it for the improved ISO performance alone. I took a few indoor shots without a flash at ISO 800. Compared to my XSi, the 60D blew it away. I am also very happy with the higher burst rate. Definitely worth having with kids in the house.Video: using the kit lens (18-135mm) I'd suggest only filming in a well lit area until you get a better lens. I needed to set my ISO over 2,000 to achieve visibility on the screen. I took my Panasonic SD60 camcorder and had no problem shooting good video with low/no grain in the same room/lighting. However, shooting video in a well lit room produced great results but at times it was difficult to tell if i had the subject in focus on the swivel screen.Some of the ergonomics that people have issues with are true but not enough to deter me from buying this camera. The reviewer below me(by date) named them all:1) on/off switch: very small tab to flip over.2) That left dial: wish it would rotate continuously instead of having a stop point. I don't switch modes too often so it's not a huge issue but if you do like to switch modes, i can see it as a future frustration.3) When having the screen flipped out, you realize the delete photo/video button is in a bad position. The fix: don't have the screen flipped out or delete the photos at a later time. I prefer to delete the bad photos/videos immediately after shooting so it's an irritant.Overall, I would recommend this camera as an upgrade over the older Rebel series and as a first time user of DSLR's. OTOH, it would be difficult to recommend this over the T3i unless you need the higher burst speedI will report back in a few months after some more extensive usage. I've only taken about a dozen videos and a hundred photos so far.

I bought my 60D last November 2010 through Amazon!!! I love love amazon!!!Anyways, almost all the things I wanted to say has been said. I have a rebel xt and for some reason, it wasn't as user-friendly as I thought it would be. I didn't like that the monitor is too small and that I can't use it as viewfinder. So, after months of research, I decided to go with 60D (instead of the 7D) and I have been using it since.What I like most about my 60D is that it has an awesome swiveling monitor, weird angles are not a problem anymore. Also, I like that it uses an SD card vs rebel's CF card. So far, that's all I can think of...It really is an upgrade and I shouldn't be comparing the two but the lack of some of the key features in my rebel xt led me into getting my 60D.You can see some of my work on my website [...] Hope this helps.

Pros:Seriously fast. Excellent picture quality. Well weighted, feels great in your hands. Menus and user interface intuitive.Cons:Issue with built-in flash being permanently disabled after using an external flash. It doesn't matter if you remove the external flash or not, the built-in will not function. This is a known issue and can be fixed by Canon.I upgraded from a Canon Rebel XTi to this camera. The difference, obviously, is major. I really wanted to move up to a 5D Mk II, however, the price just wasn't justifiable to me. The 7D did not seem to have any additional features that I required so I made the decision on the 60D.I am absolutely satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend this camera to just about anyone. Beginners keep in mind there will be a learning curve associated with this camera, however, it isn't any more than any other product on the market.

I've been a lifelong Canon consumer and while not a pro photographer , I have enough experience after owning this camera for 6 months to know that there is enough built in capability with the 60d to put the burden of good photos squarely on the user. Sure, there are some deficiencies with the equipment to require workarounds, but it's superb enough to make the photographers creative abilities the limiting factor, not the camera. That's all you need you need to know before buying. For a reasonable price, you get enough cam and lens to do it all and more if you add a canon flash, and perhaps a specialty lens if you have a particular need. Other than that it's a great package and I love to shoot with it. If you are used to the canon user interface, it's very intuitive and in conjunction with some decent post processing software ( aperture for me), I can pretty much do it all. I highly recommend this package for photographers who love to shoot but don't do it for a living. I travel extensively, and love to have this as my main camera, and paired with a canon s95 pocket cam, I'm always ready to capture the world visually. Hope this helps others like me that love to bring the world home with them. I also can't praise the s95 enough as a pocket cam, so look at that too.

I keep forgetting to write a review about this awesome camera! Though not waterproof and you need to be careful with the output mic jack, and at times it does this weird buffering of your card so that it stops recording on its own automatically once in a while, this DSLR is still hands down the best in its range!Because it has an audio channel, you can hook up a lavalier like I did. I've also used various features of the camera and unlike one of these reviews here, I don't see a problem with the hotshoe at all. In any case, those curious about how to shoot with this camera, need to look no further than checking out my new web series, "Day Zero", a post-apocalyptic drama that we've been filming entirely on the 60D!Look for "Day Zero" on kickstarter for an example! Let me know what you think, though we are strapped for funds now unfortunately... Thanks! :)

I have read several reviews stating this camera is "great for beginners" Huh? A low end Rebel is great for beginners. Sure, this camera can be used by beginners with no problem. Switch it to Auto, and off you go! What determines a cameras professional level is the human standing behind it. I can take Canons top of the line camera and snap a photo that looks like crap. That being said, this camera is for people that want to use it!It is solid, well built, reasonably priced, and VERY capable of professional results with photos and videos.Try it out at your local camera store. If you like it, buy it through Amazon. You can't go wrong.

Decided to get EOS 60D over 7D because 60 D is better than T2 (a very good camera), and more than meets my needs as an amateur, and with some of the cost savings (by not buying the 7 D) I sprung for a Canon 100 MM L Macro lens (Wow). I am moving up from an XSi, and the 60D is clearly a great improvement in many ways (higher ISO performance, better resolution and other features). Its slightly larger size makes for better handling ergonomics---than with a Rebel--with my bigger, longer lenses. I am not hung up on the metal vs hard plastic issue--the camera is solid enough but not excessively heavy. This is a terrific camera. I am very happy with my purchase. I can see that this camera helps maximize the potential of all my Canon lenses, beyond what the Rebels were able to do--thats the bottom line. The difference in my photos is obvious. I am not a video enthusiast and did not get this camera for that purpose; live view works for me with landscape and macro shots-- I like it. If I had not invested so much money in Canon's very good lenses, I might have been persuaded to get the Nikon 7000. But the great Nikon lenses are even more expensive than most Canon L lenses and the quality is the same. What keeps me tied to Canon are their excellent lenses and the inventory of their lenses that I have. I may get a Canon full frame camera some day if I decide to take this hobby much more seriously.If you can't afford a 7D and want a more substantial camera than the rebel line, this camera is solid performer. Other than for my first Canon Xti Rebel and its kit lens, all subsequent Canon camea related purchases have come from Amazon. So far their service has been very good. I have wanted to try B&H ( my friends swear by them) but Amazons prices are competitive and the free shipping is a real plus mailing to Hawaii.

Choosing the perfect camera is certainly a difficult task. I was looking for a dslr in the $1000-1500 range, with an equal emphasis on still and video photography. After extensive research, I narrowed the choices to the new Canon T3i, the 60D, and the Nikon D7000. Since I plan on using the hd movie mode extensively, the articulating lcd screen (you don't know how great this option is until you actually use it!) was a huge selling point. That effectively elimated the Nikon from consideration. Comparing the T3i and the 60D was easy...the 60D is hands down the better camera. It has a better build, better AF system, faster burst rate, higher shutter speed, etc. And it's only $200 more than the T3i! I wound up buying the 60D with the 18-200mm Canon EF IS lens kit, for a grand total of $1399. The lens alone has an average street price of about $600, so the kit was an excellent value.Is this the perfect camera? No, but what camera is? There's always some feature you see on another camera that you wish was on yours. For example, I would love to have the dual SD card slots found on the D7000. But when deciding on the camera that best meets your needs, you have to weigh the pros and cons. At least for myself, the 60D has far more pros than cons. It's a terrific camera, and an exceptional value at it's current price point. If you're looking for a mid level dslr, you would be remiss not to give this camera more than a passing glance.

Purchased Canon EOS 60D, great camera for 2 WEEKS, then DIED. I was shooting a model with my T21 & the newly purchased 60D. The 60D made a poping sound & would not work, changed battery, still dead. No BUMPS, DROPS or even BREATHED on it. The Bummer of them all is that I had a Canon 85mm f1.8 tied on it at the time of the POP & malfunction. It blew the electronics in the 85mm lens. When I put the 85mm on the working T2i, the T2i said error #1 "clean Lens Contacts" well you can clean them & the camera contacts untill the cows come home because it is not going to work. The other Canon lenses, 18-55,55-250 & the 50mm all work on the T2i. Since there is no power in the lens, but instead in the camera. The glitch has to be in the camera & when it blew everything in the camera it must have blown the electrical contacts in the 85mm. Fortunately the 60D blew well before the 30 day return period so I only lost my $30 on shipping. The 85mm was purchsed 6 months ago so I'm sending it to be repaired, but depending on what has to be replaced they may send me a bill of estimate rather than my repaired lens. I love canons that is all I own. T2i, Hg10 video, 3 years old dropped once, still working, hf m41 video, the kit lenses I shoot portraits all the time with great resolution, even the 50mm f1.8 is out standing & the 85mm & 100mm are perfect optics. I'm only writing this review to tell you to shoot the heck out of your d60 for that first 30 days so you don't get stuck.

Overall, the 60D is a nice camera. I bought this to use as a second camera body to my Canon 1D Mark III. Build quality was decent but not great. Honestly, I think the Rebel Series is built better.The camera is a little on the bulky side but not uncomfortable. I like the articulating LCD screen but it felt flimsy at the hinge. I don't like the dual dial controls. I would have rather seen the thumb wheel control the vertical scroll and the larger back wheel control the horizontal scroll. Granted all the design quirks are issues most could get used to but after shooting with the MK III for the past four years, it just felt odd.Image quality was good, if not exceptionally good. No complaints there.Seeing this is a back-up camera, I've decided to return it and looking into the smaller Rebel T3i to save a little money. Either that or a used 40D (better build quality). If I was looking for an entry level camera that has plenty of potential for growth, the 60D is a tough option to pass over.

After a lengthy review of DSLR cameras by Canon, I decided upon the 60D. It has a big 3" display with good quality imagery. It is easy to use, versatile, and includes video ability. It is rated number one by consumer report and does an excellent job in performance. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new DSLR camera.

Had a 50D a while ago. Got Sony NEX-3 afterwards. But was still missing that DSLR feel. So decided to get another Canon. Why Canon? Well, it fits my hand better. ;-) Canon 60D is a great camera: great stills, amazing video, battery lasts forever. The only downside for me personally is the size: guess should have spent more and gotten 7D. Well, that's for the next time.

I purchased this camera as a replacement to my aging T1i. I feel that I more closely represent the target market for Canon regarding this camera, as it truly does not represent a 40D or 50D replacement in my opinion. Those users are clearly being migrated over to the 7D. As for me however, this is the ideal replacement/upgrade. You can read all about this camera and it's pros and cons, however if you do any video work at all, the articulating screen is a must, and the overall speed of the camera is perfect for a committed dad who never wants to miss a moment when the kids are on the field. I highly recommend this to users who have cut their teeth on Canon's entry level DSLRs, however for those who have not, the interface may be a bit intimidating.

First let me say I am still new to photography. I've been shooting with dslr's for a little over a year and love it. I started with a t2i a couple of months after it's release. That camera was good to me but I grew out of it in about 2 months. Once I started shooting weekly I felt as the t2i wasn't durable enough due to it's weak platic feel. It also couldn't do things I needed it to do without going into the menus to make changes along with other things. I decided to look for upgrades in the canon family and was deciding between the 6oD and the 7D. A buddy I know stopped by my office and was showing off his 7D which I thought was nice but a little on the heavy side. It also has a higher price tag then I was looking to spend. I started looking at videos on you tube and found a video called "60D training video" it's from canon. Once I seen this video I immediately went out and purchased one. It has so many cool features for video and photo. The build is much better, the look with the swivel LCD , the grip fits my hand perfectly! When it comes to quality of the photos and video the t2i/60D/7D are not much different(also depends on your lens), Though I think my 60D performed better in low light for video. My 60D also has a faster burst which is great for when I am at the zoo with my kids or watching my nephew's baseball game catching all the action! If you decide to purchase this camera you will not be disappointed.

If you are set on buying a Canon then save up for the 7D. If you are getting your first D-SLR I would highly suggest checking out the Nikon D5100 because it outshines the 60D on many levels. If you are trying to decide between this and the T3i then go with this.I wish I saved up for the 7D.

I tried the canon 60D and nikon D7000 and decided to go with the 60D.60D was less expensive than the D7000.60D raw editing software came with camera and was free yet very powerful.D7000 did not come with raw editing software and costs an additional $180 for capture NX2 :-(Video on the 60D is more cinematic with more manual control.60D will film at 60 fps and D7000 max frame rate is 30 fps. 60 fps great for slow motion and analyzing my golf swing.60D is lighter and easier to carry around.60D has a much bigger buffer when taking many continuous shots. The D7000 buffer would fill up after about 3 seconds of taking raw photos.
