The only thing I can complain about is the plastic body. I would've really liked to see it with a magnesium body like the 50. Other than that its a beautiful camera. I use it primarily for filming, and for photo recreational use. I love the video on this camera. The swivel screen, as small a detail as it seems, is actually very useful. I didn't think how much of a difference it would make until I started to shoot narratives and documentaries with it. And the depth of field and the color on it is fantastic. For one of the cheaper DSLRs, it packs a really great punch.

Fantastic camera and worth the extra $180 over the T3i. The lesser priced models feel cheap compared to the 60D and 7D. I like that you can shoot both RAW and Jpeg at the same time without having to press a temp function like on the 7D.It arrived quickly even though it was on back order. It would be nice if Canon would offer better lenses with their kits for this camera.

While I am new to DSLRs I am not new to photography. There is a learning curve with this camera. It has many functions that allow pictures to be taken in many different settings and allow the photographer to really create something special. While you could just put it on auto, it really defeats the purpose of all the power that manual allows. Take the time and learn how to use it. You will be rewarded. Otherwise there are plenty of good point-and-shoots out there.

As earlier Canon did not disappoint me. I owned a Powershot for a little more than 5 years and decided to move to a DSLR as I felt the controls provided by Powershot were too less for the kind of photos that I wanted to capture. Also, I was not ready to take the big DSLR bull by horn and was looking for an intermediate yet powerful DSLR and am now glad that I chose EOS 60D. Canon's swivel LCD, excellent controls, sturdy build and a great kit lens, make this camera my best one so far.A tip - Along with this kit lens, buy a prime lens like Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens (right now its 100$ on Amazon and is a great value for the price)and you wouldn't need any other lens for years to come (unless you are a professional or if you really want to shoot a whale pod from the top of Space Needle).

I was debating for a while if I wanted this camera. I was going to get the Cannon 5D Mark II but since I don't do photography I went with the Cannon 60D and haven't looked back.If you have the right lenses, the video quality on this camera is amazing!!Highly recommended

I replaced a Nikon D80 with this, wanting a few more megapixels as I like to make enlargements up to 24x36 or a little bigger. I liked my Nikon but the reviews I read in magazines seemed to give the edge to this Canon over the corresponding Nikon. I should state that I'm not a 'photographer' per se. Meaning, I pretty much shoot in 'Auto' or 'Program' mode all the time with just a few exceptions. So take that into consideration regarding this review. What I've found is that the Nikon D80 seemed to do a better job in 'Auto' mode for me. Obviously, in the hands of someone who has taken the time to learn photography basics, this is a phenomenal camera I'm sure.

This replaced my Canon Digital Rebel XT (which still hangs out but in the background). Originally, I was torn between this and the T2i/T3i - boy am I happy I took the plunge. Notably because more of the customizable settings are far more accessible with the top-mount LCD and controls. With my old XT and the T2/3i, these settings are buried in menus.Having the fine-tuning controls such as AF and ISO so easily accessible opens many new doors.Not to mention, this camera takes great pictures. If you're replacing an entry-level DSLR like I was, this is what you want (at minimum anyway!). Go for it.

When I was shopping I kept going back and forth on whether the price differences between the T2i, T3i and 60D were worth it. The 7D was definitely out of my price range. I am very happy with the 60D. The price difference only stung for a short time. By the time I was through the first photo shoot, I forgot all about it...and that was just taking a picture of a dripping water faucet. When a total amateur can get a falling drip of water in perfect focus with a beautifully blurred background (using a 50mm f/1.4 lens) with hardly any light in the kitchen right out of the box...there is something to be said for the camera. I am not sure the T2i or T3i can shoot fast enough for me to grab that...Now I just need a better card so I can get more than 10 pix at high speed before it bogs down.

I bought this camera just to capture great detail when taking pics of my portrait art to post on my website. My expectations have been exceeded and I am so happy I chose this camera over all the others I researched. The HD-video on this camera is a really nice feature as well. After I purchased it I found out that I had to have a class 6 or higher sd card in order for the video feature to work. So, I bought a class 10 sd card and now the video feature runs flawlessly. This is the purchase from Amazon that makes me proud. This camera is a great buy for beginners as well as professional/semi-professionals. If you've never tried a dSLR and want to try one, Canon EOS 60D is a great place to start. Ideally, for better photos, you should get a good quality tripod and a good remote control. But the image stabilization in the lens and the body both give a great picture if you hold your camera reasonably steady. A good add-on would be a nice polarizer or some filter. Try the manual mode in this product and you'll get to see the array of things you can do with raw images.1. Very good documentation2. Very good body construction3. Excellent lens - I wish the aperture were more, but then it would cost far more.4. Great stabilization5. 1/8000th of a second shutter speeds.

So dissapointed with Canon. If you bought this 60D together with the 18-135mm kit lense, check your video mode and make sure you like it. Rotate the dial to video and hold your lense close to your ear, you will hear some kind of static noise coming out from the lense. Just on video mode only. The noise is being recored into the video and you will hear it while playing the video on your LCD TV. At first I thought I just got a bad unit so I returned the first unit and exchange for the second one, however, i still got the same type of noise on the second one. So, the conclusion is, Canon has a bad design, not bad units!!I actually bought both 60D and the Nikon D7000. The D7000 is just so pretty in every aspects. The feeling, the features, the sound, the quality, etc. It really makes the 60D looks ugly. You won't realize your wife is ugly before you met your sexy gf. Besides of the noise from the video mode from the 60D, everything else are just noisy. The lense is noisy and even the shutter sound like you accidentally slap on your own face while chasing down that irritating mosquito. The dial is rough in 60D and the D7000 is just nice and smooth. D7000 is just driving a Lexus on the freeway and the 60D is just a Jeep rolling down the hill of the valley. I think the noise from the lense + the shutter + the dial will probably more than enough to piss that guy sitting next to me in the concert!! He'll ask me..."..do you mind??"Anyway, both of them have good picture quality. D7000 has a lot more features. Haven't checked the other Canon lenses yet if they are making the same type of noise on video mode since I'm new. Will buy more lenses later. So, not sure if they are all the same or just the issue of the kit lense.

Recently upgraded from the T1i to the Canon 60D and all I can say is this camera takes some pretty sweet pictures. So far it has been a blast although it is quite heavier than the Canon T1i. My one and only gripe, which is the poorly designed controls. I dont usually write reviews and complain about anything, but with the amount of money I paid for this, I felt the need to air out my frustrations over this product. It takes two hands to operate this camera, compared to the T1i which was a dream to handle. Power button and mode dial on the L, menu/shutter buttons on the right. It seems I continue to struggle and twist my hands just to operate the 60D. Its a control geography nightmare that resembles the earlier netbooks with the mess up shift key(for those who can relate). There is just no excuse for that kind of design mishap. I sure wish Canon consulted photographers before designing this because, its bothering me more than i thought it would. Unfortunately, I would have to endure it for now. The T2i, which is a lower model, would have been a better choice. Or the 7D, if you could afford it. Just be aware of this major flaw before purchasing. The 18-200mm lens is not perfect but I am happy I get to lessen my lens changing. I do miss the extra 50mm from my old lens. Maybe they would create a 18-300mm, that would really be something for us photographers who get lazy to switch lenses. This is sort of my last Canon upgrade for awhile, and will evaluate later on if maybe a Nikon move would be a better avenue for my hobbies.

I debated for a while before buying a DSLR-- I wish I did'nt. Compared to a point and shoot- Its night and day. Although the 60d is a step down from the XXd series. Build wise and FPS- I think its a great camera for someone to jump onto the DSLR world. Better than the Rebel series and not as fancy as a 7DI think it has been priced lower than the 50d when it was introduced.The one thing that I dont like about the 60d is that the autofocus while taking a picture using "Live View" is slow and sketchy for anything thats moving.Other than that Its GREEEEEAT!

I had a Canon T2i for about a year now and finally I realized that I need to upgrade. I narrowed it down to a 5D mkII or a 60D (primarily for the swivel screen). With the 5D being about $1200 more I bought the 60D. I've had it for less than a day but the camera itself is exactly what I wanted. What I absolutely love is the ability to dial in the exact Kelvin temperature. That is one main reason I decided to upgrade to a 60D.

Very nice pack (camara + 18-135mm Lenes) for starting in the semi pro techniques of photography. Very, very happy with this purchase! But only one detail, so far: the 18-135mm Canon Lens providen, does not has a "lock" button for transportation; that means, this semi-long zoom lens usually slips forward if you don't hold with your hand. The rest, excellent equipment, excellent brand!

I have been in the pro still/video business creating documentaries, self-help, corporate and marketing industry for years and found that this mid-priced camera does about everything I need for still and video shots for my business. In some cases it outperforms some of my older, equipment costing 2 to 3 times as much.I just received it so I am still testing it out but so far, it does everything the manufacturer says it will while producing some amazing stills and videos. For me, this is a keeper in my arsenal of picture/video taking equipment for my business.The lens provided with this purchase is OK but, if you want some even better results, I recommend upgrading to a more professional Canon lens.Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS UD Standard Zoom Lens

Bought this camera from Beach Camera store, which was delivered on time. Thanks to the seller.I have tried using the camera on different scenes and its awesome at every stage. Thanks to its vary angle screen by which you can take shots at different positions which otherwise you will never think to take. Some people find its buttons are poorly placed, but I feel it is not that difficult to access them. Camera ergonomics are really good and it fits really good in our hands. nice shutter speed and good at continuous shots. Videos are awesome and you will feel like it is taken from a movie camera of Panavision.I bought 18-200 mm lens with the camera which I feel is not worth taking with this camera. The quality of the picture gets degraded when fully zoomed in. Also, the lens is very heavy. I generally use my 50mm f1.4 lens with the camera and this combination rocks. The camera gives best performance with a fixed aperture lenses rather then vary f stop lenses. Finally I would say that the camera is amazing and I am loving every piece of shots taken from it. I wont give too much points to the 18-200mm lens. Its good but not up to the mark.

I'm going to keep my review short. I love this Camera. I replaced a t2i with the 60D and the new options were worth it. The articulating screen has come in handy many times and I certainly hope this is the direction cannon will choose with all future DSLR's. I've produced a lot of beautiful imagery with the 60D. I chose it over the 7D because of price obviously, but I feel the 7D is meant for photographers with higher demands than me, especially those who need every ounce of speed for fast action, or can just plain afford it. For what I use the 60D for it is well suited (portraits of people, some wildlife, anything interesting I see). I think the 60D is right where it needs to be for kind of middle range photographers with medium demands of speed.

When it was time for my fifteen-year-old to move from a point and shoot to a DSLR, this was the obvious choice (after a huge amount of winnowing). He's been completely thrilled, and I am jealous. No, not really. But it *is* a great camera, and should serve him well for a long time to come. Our plan is to get a cheaper version EOS sometime in the future and share lenses while traveling (mostly in Asia) as I did with his eldest brother starting about 12 years ago. Then I shot Kodachrome, he shot negative film, I used an F1 and he used an FM. It was time for my youngest son to get a decent camera, and so we got him this. It's been truly impressive. In the old days, I went with Nikon because I liked their lenses the most. I think the delta between Canon and Nikon has narrowed considerably, and at the time we bought this, Nikon didn't offer a comparable camera, which make the choice easier than I thought it would be.

This camera is excellent for anyone who has experience with DSLR's. The features are awesome. If your only concern is to take good IQ pictures and you don't care much about the other advanced pictures, you can do with the Canon XS, XSI, and T1i. All these cameras are capable of taking great IQ pics depending, of course, if you know how to get the correct settings although Manual and P mode can also take great pics.My last camera was a canon T1i, and I loved it. The reasons I bought the 60D are follows:1. Vari angle LCD. I find this feature extremely helpful. I can take pictures from different angle with ease2. Faster FPS at 5.3. I watch college football and love to take action pics3. It has more features than the T1i and the AF system is fasterI don't really care about the pixel count as I hardly print my pictures. I almost always store the pics on my computer and post them on facebook or flickr. A 6 megapixel should do even for printing up to 8 1/2 by 11. If you are planning to print pictures larger than that, it's the only time you would need higher pixel cameras, or if you plan to crop your pics so you would not lose any details.For the typical consumer whose only goal is to take nice pictures without having to worry about shutter lag, any of the canon, pentax, nikon (don't like sony) have the potential to take great pictures.If you are a prosumer, you can't go wrong with the 50D, 60D, or 7D. All these three cameras are great. It's all about your skill level and the features you prefer. I was going to get the Nikon D7000 as it has better features than the 60D, not to mention it is also weather sealed, but I really like the articulating screen of Canon that's why I chose it.

This camera has been everything i've expected and some. the tilt lcd screen comes handy especially while shooting video. The camera is a bit lighter then older canons and the trigger is a bit hesitant sometimes but minor things considering the great picture and video quality.

I've read most of the reviews about this camera and agree withe the 5 star reviews. This is my first dslr camera so most camera's in this price range would have been great to me. I currently own a canon G12. I'm amazed how easy it is to take pictures due to the greatly reduced shutter lag. The controls are user friendly. Wish I could add more.

Having used cameras since 1961 (manual rangefinder Yashica) four different slr's, and numerous digital cameras, ending up with a Fuji HS-10, the Canon 60D is the very top. I will miss the 30X zoom of the HS-10, but the ability to get usable images at ISO 3200 out weighs that. My 60D came with the 18-135 IS, and I will soon be adding the 55-250 IS which will give me a 14X range. The Canon 60D with the efs 18-135is lens surely rates my 5 stars - plus Amazon's customer service is first rate.

Camera so far has been an outstanding purchase. Price at $1199 was below everyone else. Camera came on time and in great shape. Experimented at an Airshow on the first weekend and folks were amazed at the zoom quality of the 18 - 135mm lens, excellent clarity and fantastic fast speed shooting. Color indoors with flash so far is exceptional. Can't wait to take it to Grand Canyon in 2 weeks for a hefty tryout.Having to hold button to unlock and rotate mode wheel is only minor complaint so far.

I was in dire need of an upgrade and was seriously looking at the 7D. Realizing that the 7D is rumored for a "refresh" in early 2012, I didn't want to spend the extra money versus the 60D. Ultimately, I opted for the 60D and I have to say, I don't feel like I'm missing anything from the 7D! This is a fantastic camera and I don't see how anyone would be disappointed with it! And props to Amazon for their speedy delivery!

Overall, it is a great camera.Canon, please listen, lens hood should be a "come with" standard accessory, since the 18-135mm lens is already come with it, why not the lens hood? Remote control should be a "come with" standard accessory as well, rather I have to buy it separately.Great camera for both entry-level or semi-pro users, lots of controls, I love those easy-access controls on top and on LCD screen. LCD screen can be flipped out or covered, a very nice feature.However, it is a little bit heavy to hang around on your neck for hours... Be warned...

I am in love with this camera, I just upgraded from a rebel t1i which could not meet my demands since I am now learning more and moving up.But this camera is great, fast, great quality.This whole thing of metallic body vs. plastic is not the way I will choose my camera.Even though the its plastic, it feels good to hold.The built-in flash is not too hash on pictures compare to the other camera, although I use the 430ex flash.The ergonomic design is also good compare to t1i.My advise is even you are new to dslr I say start with this model because if you start with a low end once you become good you will need a higher camera.With the flip lcd I have been able to take some good angle pics in live view.Hmm...what else....just love it!

Was excited about receiving this camera based on other reviews. However, it was dead on arrival. The camera would not even power on. The best Canon would do is repair the camera under warranty. If I had wanted a refurbished camera, I could have save some money and bought a used one to begin with. Fortunately, Amazon has a 30 day return policy. They're payinig for return shipping of the original camera and sending a new one by next day delivery, even before they get the return. Hopefully the new camera works. Thumbs up for Amazon, thumbs down for Canon.

This is my first SLR camera and I am loving it. I was looking into buying 7D but after doing research and found major difference between 60D vs 7D is shutter speed and few others features so I went ahead and bought 60D. If you're looking for something mid range I believe this is a great investment. Although others complains 60D body is plastic and takes SD I don't mind @ all. In addition Like other reviewers and I am father of 2 looking for solid quality pictures of my kids and I don't sell pictures to anyone else. Hated spending $$$ on studio photos so I went ahead and bought 60D kit but end up selling the lens and bought 24-70mm f/2.8L, Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 lens, and 430EX II flash. Boy what a difference in terms of quality of pictures. I realized 60D is not full frame digital SLRs but L series lens open door to whole different world and maybe year or two I will invest on 5D Mark 2 or if 5D 3 releases 2011, I will buy last year model. Only down side is that its heavy to carry all equipments around but I did buy Canon S95 (our 5th point and shoot camera from Canon) but in terms of quality of pictures I will take 60D anyway. I recommend to everyone.

This is my first DSLR, I got it with the 18-135 kit... I have done online research, asking many people..etc and decided to go with the 60D... It has everything a beginner need except Full Frame...Full Frame or not to full frame for the first SLR :) ... DO NOT FULL FRAME, SLRs shutters have a life span of 100,000 clicks or so , as a beginner you will be firing allot of pictures just to learn, changing shutter speed, what if the aperture opened more...etc, so u will be wasting your money on buying a bigger sensor that you will waste...now what about the crop factor...honeslty go back a little we are just learning and trust me for beginners you wont feel full frame or APSC frame... remember that lens makes allot of differnce as wellif you decided to live with APSC sensor , the 60D is amazing on the other side ,AMAZING Camera, very nice handeling, easy software to use and impressive picture quality coming from the Camera with the 18-135 lens...I thought I need to photoshop to have quality pictures , but as of now 3 weeks of usage, pics out of camera are sharp and look so professional... I like it

I purchased this primarily for the video capability but having excellent still capability along at the same time is wonderful. I shoot performances alone with this camera using either my 24-104 or a prime lens depending on the light level and a Canon VIXIA mounted away on another tripod. The only problems I have found are that recording needs to be manually turned off and back on when you approach the 12 minute max. clip size limit and after about 1 hour of near continuous shooting the temperature warning comes on. I have only once had it shut down but it makes me nervous. Adding the external batter module didn't seem to reduce the temperature issue. I shoot a 2 hour or so performance about every week and it has worked great.

I love this camera!!!This camera takes awesome pictures and is easy to use.It's been a lot of fun using the camera, learning the functions and experimenting with it. I've captured some great family portraits, candid shots and even some nice action shots on the soccer field.The software that comes with the camera is great as I am able to download the pictures to my camera and crop them. I've gotten a lot of nice action shots this way.The kids and I are having a great time with this camera. Each time I learn how to use one of the functions, I'm teaching it to my kids (ages 16 (twins), 13 & 10). We're taking lots of digital photos. Seeing what works and what doesn't and then adjusting our techniques.I tried the HD video for my daughter recital. The picture quality was good, considering the low light conditions. I'm looking forward to taking more video in the future and improving my technique.The articulating screen is great. It's been very convenient when taking odd angled shots. I'm using it more than I thought I would.So far, I'm very happy with my purchase.

The camera arrived earlier than expected which was a definite plus. The 60d seemed to have no problem in and is brand new as promised. The kit lens works fine along with the other controls and such of the camera. Thank you once again for being so prompt at shipping!

This camera works well for me in many different shooting situations. Good product. Changing settings is very easy and accessible. The 60D gives the photographer many choices for setting the camera to fit different situations and gives good end results.

If you are a P&S person and want to bump up, you will probably be pleased with this camera, "IF", you are willing to learn how to use it. This is not a P&S camera and you will have to take your time and get to know all of the bells and whistles and exactly what each bell and whistle is and does.Pros will probably find it too slow. It does seem to be very touchy with non-Canon lens. In the reviews it states that the ISO will go as low as 100. However, its lowest is 200. The weight is also a factor. With a lens it feels like you are carrying a rock around your neck. If you are upgrading and planning on purchasing this camera and you do not own Canon lenses, then don't waste your money on non-IS lenses. You will pay more up front. But, trust me, you will be far happier in the end when you turn out decent shots. If you already shoot DSLR and are looking at a new camera, go for the 7D and be done with it. The dual digi processor makes a world of difference. Especially if you are shooting fast lenses as I do.

I upgraded from a Canon EOS XTi. The price made me hesitate as I am an artist, not a professional photographer, but winning a design prize helped me decide. It is heavier, but I have been making more video and use a sturdy tripod. One thing you can't do is change the focus while shooting video, but it is primarily a still camera. I like the way the LCD screen pivots so you can angle it to see what you are shooting in live mode.My lenses work with this camera with no problem. The shutter release is much smoother and faster than the XTi and taking multiple shots for some nature shots of osprey was smooth and fast. I am happy with my purchase.

Seriously a great camera. Video modes are perfect and pictures look great. There is some noise when viewed at 100% though, and it gets worse as you get up in ISO but it's not much worse than the Nikon D7000. Canon's decision to use the same sensor as in the T2i and 7d, not to improve the focusing from the aging 50D, and failure to offer many appealing new features for the pro photographer led many to criticize the camera. Though, even with these shortcomings, the Canon 60D remains a solid DSLR for many aspiring pro photographers while integrating a slew of dream features to aspiring videographers at an aggressive price point. I love the 60D.... But it is just a start. You need a whole setup and lenses are way more important than the camera. The 60D, T3i and T2i are great cameras to start your /videography and photography career off with but make sure to invest more in the lenses. Check out my video.
