The 60D has been mostly a wonderful experience for an amateur like myself. Using it for the first time on a vacation in Provence France. Only one big issue so far and that might be due to operator error; on a bright moonlit night a huge rock escarpment called out to be captured by the 60D, but I could NOT GET THE dang CAMERA to take the shot, it just utterly refused !I've shot 1300+ photos with it over the last 14 days and this was the first time it just would not allow me to take the shot I wanted. I tried full manual mode, auto without flash, iso at 6400 and lots and lots of other settings but the camera just would not attempt a shot at all, nada, neyt. Several days earlier in a mountain top chapel in Moustiers (central Provence), in light so dim I could hardly see 8 feet in front of me and my eyes took minutes to adjust, the 60D took amazing photos on high iso and wide aperture settings. Playing back the chapel photos revealed detail barely discernible to my eyes in the darkness, yet the brightly moonlit clearly visible to my eyes huge rock escarpment was for reasons unknown to me not something the 60D was willing to spend SD card storage space on, and yes there was plenty of room on the card, lots of battery power..yada...yada. Extremely frustrating. I hope there is an explanation that cites operator error. More experience photographers have complained that the 60D does a poor job of autofocusing in low light conditions and perhaps this caused the camera to refuse to take the shot.Love many things about the 60D. It is a much better camera than my photography skills warrant and many of my 1300 photos from this trip (writing review from hotel in La Ciotat, France) are nice due to it's capabilities not mine, but why the camera should second guess even a novice and refuse the shot is baffling.

I bought it to replace my old canon 350D. It has clear movable display and precise focus and measuring light.But I still want to have metal body than a plastic material. I guess that it is good time to have semi-professional SLR camera before canon release next model.

I've had three different SLR cameras over the years. They have all been nice cameras, but I have to say that the quality of this Canon is excellent. It is now my go-to camera. The movies it shoots are outstanding. I bought an external mike for it, but haven't had to use it because the sound quality is good.

This camera was actually my boyfriend's purchase and we both love it. I personally miss my old SLR, but this is cooler. I love having a manual focus and manual zoom (and other manual functions). You feel more in control and less like your camera is doing all the work. He has purchased another lens for this camera and the picture and video quality is breathtaking.

I purchased this camera directly from Amazon. When I took pictures with it and checked out the digital info tag on Digital Photo Professional, the serial number on the body DID NOT MATCH the serial number on the image info tag (it was not even in the same format; it started with a dash). I called Canon and they said their serial numbers never start with a dash, and the body number attached to the image data should always match the number on the body of the camera.They said the camera may be stolen since the serial was probably scrambled intentionally. I returned it and bought another from Amazon; I had the same problem. When I wrote to Amazon, they said I could do a free return but did not address the issue. This could be very serious when it comes to the serial number not matching because if you want to have the copyright on your images, because there's no way to prove the image came from your camera.If you do decide to buy from here, check this phenomenon out. Hopefully it's just a small batch with this problem, since this is a big deal.

Being an amateur photographer I've always wanted a DSLR but was always intimidated by all the functions. After having this for only a few days, it is clear the EOS 60D is designed for the amateur as well as the professional! It is very easy to use and takes stunning photos. It is well worth the price paid!

Canon EOS 60D has only one drawback: the shutter is noisy! But that does not detract from the quality of the photographs. The setting buttons are different than those of the Xt series and took some time getting use to. Should last me a few years.

I'm a first time buyer of a DSLR camera. After years of using digital cameras I grew tired of catching memorable moments as blurry images. After weeks of reading reviews and ratings I chose the Canon 60D and couldn't be happier. I love the swivel LCD screen that helps to get those difficult shots without breaking your neck. Although, the 18-135mm kit lens is a very good walk-around lens, I soon plan on investing in a "nifty-fifty" as well as a telephoto lens. I still need to get things such as the lens hood and UV filters to make my camera complete. So, to all potential DSLR buyers, I can testify that this is an exceptional camera. I'm a novice, so shooting family and some outdoor landscape shots is what I have interest as of now and this camera meets all my needs and then some. I knew in advance that a T4i was to be released sometime in June '12, but I went ahead and purchased the 60D, because the new touchscreen and autofocus system are things I can do without right now.

I recently upgraded from my Canon 350D Rebel XT to the Canon 60D. I love Canon DSLR's and lenses and have been using them for six years and counting. If you are looking for something that delivers a lot of "bang for you buck," this is a great camera for semi-pro and professionals alike. The camera body is only half the battle when it comes to making successful images. If the 7D, the next step up, is too steep in price, the 60D's price point allows the photographer to invest in the other half of making successful images, investing in high-quality lenses. I love that about this camera - it gives me room to grow my lens collection which is what truly makes a huge difference in the quality of your images. The rest is up to you - take classes and practice like crazy to understand the nature of light - it's at the heart of every image. If you are not a photographer (or studying to become one) and just want a DSLR to capture family events and such, I would definitely stick with the more affordable Canon T1 series. The detailed reviews of the 60D speak for themselves and if you wind up disappointed with it, I'd gamble you just didn't do enough research to get the right camera that meets your individual photographic needs and wants.

For those of us who are ready to go beyond the point and shoot camera or the Rebel series, this is a huge step up. I upgraded from the 30D and I am really liking my choice. I already had the lenses which lessened the cost of upgrading. The learning curve will be a little steep at first because there are additional functions plus the movie function which the 30D did not have. I won't go into details because other reviewers covered that area thoroughly. The 7D was more than I wanted to pay, and the 60D fit into my budget just fine.

Canon 60 D is the by far the best camera for the $$$. I have yet to see why the 7D is so popular, other then it's video capability, but the 60D is just as good a Camera and a lot less expensive.

I had thought about buying the T4i Rebel, but I'm very happy with the choice of the 60D. I like having the external LCD display for the settings compared with the Rebel series. The camera has been great. A lot to learn, but so far no problems other than my own mistakes in wrong settings. I haven't used an SLR type of camera for many years, and I'm so glad that I bough the 60D. I highly recommend this camera, especially as a step up from the Rebels and below the 7D.

I purchased the 60D hoping to have a good camera for advanced amateur use. What I got is a camera with pictures that are so soft that they are beat hands down by point and shoot camera costing 20% of the price and with 50% less resolution!. After being suggested to change the sharpness levels to the max allowable (the default inexpicably is set to the middle of the range) the picture quality changed very subtly but again was beat handily by a simpler camera in picture equivalent tests. Having gone to the web to see if there was a resolution to this issue, I notice that this seems to be a Canon 60D issue with numerous people sending in the camera to be fixed. Whether this all worked or not is not the issue - the issue is that for a $1000 camera one expects a certain level of quality which alas is sadly lacking in this Canon product. I'm extremely disappointed in this camera especially as my last Canon was a Powershot with which I was thrilled and still use. Thrilled hardly describes my experience with the 60D which will now need to go in for fixing, and if unsuccessful will be traded in for a non-Canon camera as its not acceptable as is.To the question would I recommmend this to a friend? The answer is unequivocably and definitely no.

I have owned a variety of Nikon DSLR cameras, but none of them would come close to my new Canon 60D camera. I love the lens. The capability of shooting photos at low light is amazing! Close-up shots are the best! I don't want to go through reviews as many others have already covered in their posts. It is just another good review on this particular camera.Buy it while you can! You won't regret it!

I recently purchased this camera mostly for portrait use. So far I am very pleased. Camera arrived promptly and have taken some really great photos so far. No complaints. Lighter body than the 30D since the body is poly carbonate instead of magnesium alloy. May not be as durable but for portrait use this is a great camera.

I purchased the Canon 60D on the first day of May. Not having had time to play with it until this week, I did not notice that the external flash would not work. The on-camera flash works fine but who wants to use that. After having tried two different speedlites....neither worked....zero. I tried to get help from Amazon but the return date had passed. Since this is the first time I have ever had a problem with a Canon, I was unprepared for this disappointment. Now it is up to me to deal with Canon and repairs. Very frustrating! Be wary of the 60D and check it out thoroughly if you buy it. I am hacked.
