The good: Relatively inexpensive. It did the job for 10 months.The bad: The colors are washed out. Need sturdy desk to keep the monitor from bouncing around. It stopped working completely.The ugly: I'm stuck without a monitor. I requested RMA from Viewsonic today. I will update this post once I see how Viewsonic handles my RMA request.Lesson learned: You get what you pay for!

While the price was acceptable, so far I've been underwhelmed by this monitor; the screen quality is sub-par and there is a single-pixel vertical line defect (green bar) right in the center of the screen. Fortunately, the monitor was for my mother and she doesn't seem to notice the aforementioned defects. The monitor's furniture is nice enough, and it came with a DVI cord which was a nice change of pace. I don't dislike it enough to return it, but I wouldn't buy it again if I had the option.

I decided to create a dual monitor setup using a dell 22" monitor and this 24" ViewSonic monitor. When I connected the ViewSonic via the supplied vga cable it had a horrible ghosting issue and I thought "you get what you pay for" so I set up my desktop with my dell monitor as the primary and the ViewSonic as the secondary. I then searched forums and read that it might be the cheap cables supplied so I immediately went back on amazon and ordered an amazon branded dvi to hdmi cable (my computer only has two dvi outputs). As soon as I connected it using this new cable the monitor was BRILLIANT! I immediately made the ViewSonic my primary monitor and felt compelled to give this monitor a 5 star review. If you are thinking of buying a new monitor,look no further just make sure to buy some good quality cables with it because the ones supplied are utter garbage.

I like the price of this monitor, but you get what you pay for I guess. Its too dim for me. I have it plugged into my laptop and they are side by side in a multiple display setup, and its incredibly dim compared to the laptop. So much so that I think it hurts my eyes just to look at it. At work I have an NEC model that is quite bright, and I think I'm going to spring for that. Of course its about twice the price of this one. I'll probably keep this as a backup or as a monitor in a standalone application with a desktop, that way there is no side by side with a bright monitor to remind you how dim this is. I tried to adjust the brightness, but the menu entry for that is disabled. Don't know why that would be. The other negative that doesn't bother me much is the limited angle that you could view this without losing contrast/color/brightness. Its pretty narrow. Anyhow, you will probably not get a better monitor for THIS price.

The monitor is just as described. I really like the photo frame stand feature. Colors and contrast are great. Sound is generally tinny though but I didn't get it for its speakers. Sleek design and very light.

I'm extremely impressed with this monitor! It is so much better than I expected for the price. I don't know about other's having problems with the 1920 x 1080 resolution, but I unplugged my old monitor and plugged this one in, turned it on and it just worked perfectly! Absolutely bright, crisp and sharp. I'm using the VGA input. I figured I'd have to make some adjustments to the computer's resolution, but no... it automatically switched to 1920 x 1080 and looked amazing. I was pretty much speechless. I don't know (or care) about the speakers, didn't plug them in and don't plan to. I highly recommend.

I've always liked Viewsonic. I have 3 in my house. I bought this for my wife. The picture is so clear and sharp. It's a beautiful monitor, I would recommend this Viewsonic VA2231WM-LED 22-inch Widescreen LED Monitor to anyone. Like I said I've always liked and trusted Viewsonic. If you need a monitor, get youeself one of these. You can't go wrong.

I purchased this monitor to go along with a Mac Mini (mid-2011 model) and I am overall pleased with it. Here's the 411:Pros:- Excellent picture (needed no tweaking out of the box).- 1080p looks spectacular!- Integrated speakers (yes they sound tinny, but I didn't want external speakers taking up space on my desk).- Matte screen (no glare or reflections in a room with lots of windows/daylight).- Works with a Mac Mini without hassle... truly plug-n-play.- Deliciously uniform LED backlighting.Cons:- No DVI cable in the box.- Description here on Amazon doesn't tell you there is no DVI cable in the box. Even the instructions that come with the monitor make you *think* there should be a DVI cable included, but if you read the exterior of the box, in very small print, it tells you only one video cable is included (a standard RGB). Heck, the ViewSonic website fails to indicate that a DVI cable is sold separately.- Stand is steady and solid enough, but jiggles a bit if the desk is bumped.The lack of a DVI cable is probably why this monitor is ~$20 less than other monitors. If using with a Mac Mini, get one of these: BlueRigger High Speed HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable (6.6 Feet/ 2 Meters)I'd give this monitor 5 stars if the description were updated to make it manifestly clear that a DVI cable is not included.

Got two of this monitor for my work station in order to work on two monitors at once. I went back and forth about should I spend more money and get the same brand but a little better monitor according to the manufactures description. After great debate I went for the cheaper monitor and couldn't be happier. They work great didn't have one dead pixel and I can't tell the difference from my top end monitor.

I was just about ready to send this monitor back when I realized that the computer MUST BE CLOSED! I spent hours trying to fix the resolution or hammer out the kinks it looked like it had. It seemed to be a terrible and muddy display but once I closed the computer and started to use the monitor it changed everything I was thinking. Gorgeous display. Perfect. Just wish someone had told me!

I have a dual-monitor setup on my computer (I purchased two). These widescreen (16:9) monitors are exactly what I needed for my system. I am able to multitask, as I do both audio and video editing, with plenty of space for several applications. The colors are bright and vibrant, though the contrast requires a very slight turn-down out of the box. The casing is flowing and, for lack of a better term, beautiful. They can be wall-mounted or sit on your desktop with the provided stands. The monitors support both VGA and DVI connections. In the packaging, you'll find a VGA connector, a power cord, an audio cord, setup disk and manual/warranty card. I would have liked to have seen a DVI cord, as well, but I already had them on-hand, so no big deal. The speakers on-board are nothing to write home about, but I didn't buy monitors for their audio appeal.All-in-all, these monitors have outdone themselves for my application, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Purchased two units ... the units use a external power brick or supply. The plug on the monitor and the plug on the external power supply do not match. What does viewsonic tech support tell me ... return them. Great, more time spent dealing with a two bad units.Save yourself the time DO NOT PURCHASE.

Overall, I think this is an exceptional product except that the speakers are worse that the ones in my laptop. I thought there was something wrong at first because the volume was so low. I don't really see the point of these speakers. Otherwise, I have no complaints and I do not regret buying the monitor. The picture quality is terrific and option to remove the stand sets this product apart(the monitor will sit on the desk without the stand). This alone was worth the purchase.

Although the description of the item did not specifically say so, I assumed that a monitor being sold in 2012 with a DVI connection would have support for HDCP (High Definition Content Protection, required for certain protected content, such as TV streaming). After trying for weeks to troubleshoot issues with various programs, ultimately determined through a capabilities test that this monitor does not have support for HDCP. This has been confirmed on various forums, but has not been documented by the manufacturer as far as I can tell. If your use case might require the use of HDCP, you should look for other options.

The manufacturer glued (yes glued!) product advertising to the front of the monitor. I was unable to remove the glue!! Unbelievable. Otherwise monitor worked ok. Nevertheless, returned monitor to try again with a non-ViewSonic monitor.

I stopped buying anything Viewsonic when they lowered their quality about 5 years ago on the VP series LCDs. I purchased this monitor since I was going to be working from Europe for 2 months and I do not like to work on a Laptop. So this monitor is connected to my VAIO via HDMI connection. And I am very impressed with the sharp image quality and vivid colors. The view angle is also pretty amazing. Its light weight, thin and super quality. Do not even try to plug-in the sound because that is really bad, but I never rely on monitor sounds anyway so not a big deal for me. Overall a quality product with a great price tag.

The Viewsonic VX2453MH is the best monitor I have owned, out of about nine (over 20 years).I must thank several of the other reviewers here on Amazon for their input. Here's why.As with others, the monitor needed some "tweaking" at first. The contrast and brightness needed to be lowered by about 40% from the factory presets.It took a while to get the hang of the adjustment knobs.I also had to changed the monitor screen refresh rate from 60 Hz to 59 Hz for the picture to best fit the screen (Thanks to poster Russell F. Sullivan).Russel also suggest changing the response time setting from regular to "ultra fast".... a BIG difference in quality.There are only three minor "CONS" so far.Yes the speakers are worthless. My Altec Lansing speakers I previously purchased from Amazon work great though.Secondly, I would prefer the headphone jack to be on the front of the monitor where you can see it (you currently must turn the monitor around to plug in).Finally, I wish the monitor could adjust vertically. I needed to put a book under the monitor to make it ergonomically correct (mid-screen at eye level).In summary, Viewsonic should scrap the cheap speakers and use that money for a headphone jack up front and have an adjustable vertical stand.Otherwise, I have only had this monitor for three days and very happy. Perhaps I will update again in a few months.

For whatever reason, the D-sub connection does not support unstretched 1024x768 resolution in its proper aspect ratio. It does support other resolutions, but apparently nothing that ends in x768. I have no idea why. Surprised no one else mentioned this; makes me wonder if it's just mine that's like this. 1024x768 is important for some older games.Thankfully, HDMI does support 1024x768 in its proper aspect ratio.I rather like this monitor, but it requires some tweaking, such as using YCbCr444 when using HDMI, as other reviewers have mentioned.

I got a new computer and I decided to get a new LED monitor. I chose the Viewsonic and I am very happy. My old 60 pound monitor was a bear to remove. In its place is the new one. I swear my electric bills are noticeably lower.The sound is poor at best but I have the Logitech speakers with the woofer and I am very happy. The speakers we a little over $20.A friend reminded me to clean the monitor screen with only clear water no chemicals. I keep a little bottle with water nearby just in case.I work in Photoshop and the difference in brightness and color made me rework many pictures now that I see them clearly and with sharpness.

First off, the one star off was actually for Amazon. I have been buying from Amazon for the last few month, and NEVER did Amazon ship me anything that would require a signature. I have ordered stuff that was way expensive than this one, but it was left behind the plants on the porch. This monitor was ordered June 30th, expected July 5th, but got delayed two days because no one was at home to sign it. Of course, it's working hour time, who would be home? Then I had to spend another $4 to re-route it to my workplace, and finally got it today, July 7th. Not sure where the two day free shipping with Prime would do about this, I get it that holidays are in the way, but not even notifying me of requiring signature before shipping it? Not liking it, not one bit!Other than that, the monitor is awesome. Big, slim, light, easy to install. It took me a few minutes to figure out where the switches were, since they are on the back side, and I was pressing the pattern on the front panel. Using a W7 system, it worked flawless from the start. The brightness came at 100%, so tune it down to avoid blinding yourself. I set it around 55%, which was good enough. The color was real vivid, and comparing to my other two screen that I am using now, one 23" AOC e2343F and one 24" Asus VH242H, this monitor gives off a better result when viewing pictures and videos. Certainly better than the Asus, while I hook up this new one with AOC to work side by side, the size and consistence of output allows me to work in peace, knowing it's not a major difference between the two monitor color output.Overall, I love this monitor, not really relying on its sound, as I have other source of sound output, but taking size, weight, easy setup, this would be a good monitor to get!

I am utterly disappointed in this monitor, as it blurs everything. Reading small print is horrible. No idea how people cope with this! Don't buy this if you want to use it for any reading or writing on your computer, or any art making!

When I first saw the description of this monitor I was attracted to the 'ultra-thin' moniker. You see - in my neighborhood - most of the people here are starting to look like Wal-Mart greeters. So anything with the word thin is a plus to my aching eyes. That said - this monitor is awesome. Bright colors and the black is well - really black. The monitor is super light (can pick it by one hand) and uses very minimal amount of power. The menu controls are not great but in line with other monitors I own.So if you're looking for something wonderful to look at and you're getting tired of flipping through the latest People magazine - I'd strongly suggest you get this wonderful monitor.

I use this monitor primarily for gaming. For the price range, I cannot be more satisfied. I only had one minor issue on setup that took a little experimentation to solve. I write it here so that any others may do what I did:When I hooked this monitor to my PC with an HDMI cable, I experienced "overscan," i.e., the edges of my screen ran beyond what the monitor was displaying. For example, in windows, I could not see the task bar at the bottom of my screen -- everything was stretched just a little too big. After ensuring that I was at the proper resolution (1900 x 1080), I discovered that the monitor has different settings for being hooked up to a PC vs. being used as a TV. By using the buttons on the side of the monitor to switch the input to "PC," the issue was resolved.Overall I recommend this screen; just be aware that if you use HDMI cables you may need to tinker with the settings to fix an overscan issue (something you will have to do with many screens these days).

I have been looking to get a 24 inch full HD monitor for quite sometime and somewhere down the line ended up buying this. This monitor has met my expectation very well - nice colors and looks decent. My only gripe is that I was unable to connect the HDMI with success not that I have tried really hard. Not sure if its my laptop or the drivers but with HDMI the screen size zooms out of the viewing area and there are no controls to adjust it - not to mention no sound. Well but I didn't buy the monitor for HDMI connection - just wanted something which matches with what I got at work - so meets my purpose.

The unit was easy to set up, has a gorgeous display, crystal clear images and text with a uniform brightness across the screen. The anti-reflective coating effectively prevents all reflections. I would recommend going into the "manual image adjust" menu item and unchecking the "dynamic contrast" setting. The dynamic contrast compensation is a nice idea but in many cases the compensation ends up not being appropriate for the viewing conditions.I did not use the internal speaker's since I have a nice set of external ones so I cannot report on the quality of sound from the internal ones, however I can't imagine that speakers that small could duplicate the sound that comes from larger external speakers with their associated sub-woofer.I bought the monitor for the display, not the sound, and I am well pleased with the performance.

Bought two monitors, picture quality is very good, light weight but the stand allows the monitor to wobble to the slightest vibration. Not sure if I'm going to keep them. It's starting to get annoying.

Great monitor once I got it configured. Picture is bright and crisp. Colors look accurate on my photographs.Got this to replace an HP monitor and it's every bit as good and a much better value.nly problem was that it didn't recognize it was connected to a computer. Lots of playing until I noticed that the "Input Select" for HDMI-1 was set to AV. Changed it to PC and its perfect. The Monitor has two HDMI input ports, 1 as set to AV and 2 was set to PC. If I'd been lucky enough to have selected 2 it would have been good to go out of the box. Would have been nice to know...It's also worth noting that the on-line help doesn't list anything even remotely close to the actual problem which was that about 1/2" on each side was not viewable.I'll probably get another one of these later this year to update the wife's computer monitor.

Excellent monitor for the price. Easy setup. The best features are the swivel, tilt, and height adjustment, all can be done with one finger. Great adjustment features. Nice clear screen. Doesn't take a lot of desk space like other monitors this size. 5 out of 5 stars.

Bought this to compare to my Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-Inch (23.6-Inch Vis) Widescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p and Speakers - Black. Important to note, this one doesn't have DVI input and max res is 1600x900, unless 1080p is greater than that, no clue. (VX2450 has 1900x1080).Bottom line: not as crisp as the Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-Inch (23.6-Inch Vis) Widescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p and Speakers - Black. Appears to use less power, would be better for home use. If using for work or graphics the Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-Inch (23.6-Inch Vis) Widescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p and Speakers - Black is brighter and crisper.

This was a gift for Christmas '11.My first problem started when the HDMI inputs would not scale correctly, even devices that natively output 1080p or 720p did not look right. A good portion of the pixels are not viewable.The settings are useless and cumbersome to use.The contrast is really poor, it's either black or 50 shades lighter. It is really frustrating to watch a movie, you see all the block artifacts. Playing with the useless settings did not help.Then after minimal use, last week (two months later) a strange horizontal line appeared one third from the top, I tried all inputs and multiple sources - I'm suspicious of a lose connector. I called ViewSonic who want me to return it for a repair, no offer to pay shipping or how long it would take.This has been the worst electronics purchase made in my household all year.

At 27" this effectively works as 2 monitors, as nothing really needs to be maximized on this screen. The picture quality was great with my Dell laptop, but after switching to a Macbook Air, I had issues with it being fuzzy and blurry, so much that I needed to zoom any small text in to reduce strain on my eyes (perfect vision and 38 years old). This issue has been reported many times online and on Amazon feedback.The fix was simple for me, I just changed from HDMI to VGA (yes, the old VGA cable) and it works great, crystal clear again. I bought a Thunderbolt VGA adaptor on Amazon for about $12, plugged in the VGA, and it's all good now. I keep the HDMI adaptor to play movies on my 55" TV which works fine for that.The monitor is great quality, sound is not worth using (better out of my laptop), but I have a separate speaker for 'real' music playing when desired.

I've had several smaller LCD monitors in the past that were ok, but this one is amazing for the price! I paid more for the smaller 14" and it's picture was fuzzy and not so bright. I hooked this up and MAN what a difference! Vivid bright colors and a huge viewing area! Sure there are a few quirks like menu not so easy to navigate, hard to switch to DVI inputs, crappy speakers. But hey for the price the picture is awesome! I had no trouble with picture like some others on here did mine worked perfect right out of the box. Oh yeah, got it FAST too was happy about that!

Monitor has great color, multiple adjustments to viewing angle possible, very easy set-up. Biggest concern was the actual shipment was longer than original date range provided. The seller Pcnation took over 48 hours for a response after I realized it would not delivery timely. All in all I'm very happy with this monitor but had hoped for better service. This would be five star if not for delivery being late.

I like this monitor a lot, its a good size and has good color depth to it. But its better to imagine that this monitor doesn't have speakers at all and buy some speakers to go with it when you're purchasing your monitor, because even at max sound its so quiet that you can't hear what's playing at all if anything else is going on, like if the air conditioning is on. I bought two monitors, one for me, one for my husband, and his is the same. We bought some cheap little speakers this weekend, and the cheapest, smallest speakers we could find are 1000x louder than this monitor's speakers.

They're great monitors. I have two of them. Very light, slim profile. Very very bright. I have my brightness turned down to 40. I would definitely recommend this monitor.
