This is 22 inches of excellent graphics. The price has been reduced by about $100 from where this monitor was selling for. It's DVI so it sets itself up when Windows start and it chooses it's native resolution. Yes you can change all the settings if you wish, but I didn't touch a thing and the picture was great. You could spend $250 elsewhere but you wouldm't get the value you get with this monitor & you can put the other hundred in your pocket.

Pros:-1080p. Meaning it's capable of full hd, 1920x1080 (16:9) resolution.-VGA port & 2 HDMI ports! PC & AV mode (doubles as a tv for blu-ray player or hdmi game console).-Sound input (speakers are only 2 watts, worse than most laptops but better than nothing). Sound output (headphone jack!)-Includes FoxConn brand HDMI cable, VGA cable, sound cable, CD with drivers (Win/Mac)Good Value; as of April 2011 it's the newest model in this class from ViewSonic, with best stats (performance on paper) and best features (real world performance.. because 2 hdmi ports is a lot better than 1 dvi port). Light weight and low watts consumption/heat is the beauty of LED. Not a gorgeous monitor but for 16:9 monitors it's above-average. Still more glossy it needs to be, but not as bad as the VX2250 with the glass bezel. No bright blue led below-center blinding you, in fact the blue led on this can be turned off!Cons:-Takes close to 10 seconds to turn on. This is pretty standard on HD screens but still annoying compared to what I was used to with CRT & LCD screens. Comes out of sleep quickly though.-If you can afford it definately get the 24" version.-Bad stand design. The middle piece that allows the monitor to be tilted up & down is over-engineered, almost like a hydraulic suspension, but poorly made. This fancy "crane" design causes the screen to oscillate. Beware if your keyboard is on your desk, rather than sliding out under! Or if you use joysticks. Most of its peers use a much simpler plastic stand that clips in and squeeks when you tilt the screen. And thus never shake unless the plate (bottom part of the stand) sitting on the table starts shaking.-Cannot be mounted! No holes on the back!-Viewing angle is not as good as TFT LCDs. When I lay back in my chair vs sitting up, I have to tilt the screen to maintain normal appearance. Not nearly as bad as some 19" LED's I've seen though, but this may be annoying for movie watching from a distance.Additional:-HDMI carries sound, don't have to use sound jack to use built-in audio-Optimal resolution (recommended resolution which HDMI looks best in): 1920x1080 resolution @ 60Hz & 1776x1000 @ 60Hz. All other resolutions look like they're connected with VGA. This isn't just this monitor but just how the technology works. VGA looks good (especially text) in any 16:9 resolution but doesn't have the 'super model' look for movie watching. Fix any over/under-scan in max resolution with ATI Catalyst or Nvidia options. Most people are clueless about this. I did this in Linux, which isn't technically supported and didn't have to download anything for this model. Simply chose 0% in "scanning options." If you can't find the right utility, plug it into someone else's computer and adjust it. The screen will save the settings. Overall very satisfied with this thing (as far as LED's go). TFT LCD's have their own picture quality advantages..

After personally visiting Best Buy, Fry's Electronics, Office Max, Office Depot and asking many questions about various brands of computer monitors and becoming more educated on such product, I finally came to the conclusion and realization that the ViewSonic VX2453MH-LED Monitor by far offered me the best choice for my particular needs and my expectations. I was also very convinced that their 3yrs. warranty was by far the very best deal for my money. I have now been using my VX2453MH-LED Monitor since December 13, 2012 and I know without any doubt in my mind that I made the right decision and that I will be very happy for many years to come.

First, I tried using the monitor buttons to change the settings, because I didn't see the CD when I oped the box. I have Mac Mini late 2012. That wasn't cutting it. So I took ALL the packaging out, finally found the CD settled in the bottom and accessed it remotely from my late 2011 MBP. The mini doesn't have a CD drive, but the MBP IS an i5 Intel machine. The disc had the Mac portions blocked, stating it "did not support PowerPC machines." No kidding? NEITHER DO I!!! I am waiting to hear back from Viewsonic. So far, the display on this monitor equals a 2007-2008 macbook. If they cannot resolve the issue, it's going back.

I have had one of these for about 2 years now. It's been a fantastic monitor. Great color range, extremely sharp image. The size is perfect for a desktop setting. I just purchased a second one for my dual display setup. I now have 2 of these side by side.My use cases for these monitors include some of the following: - Gaming - Software Development - Netflix/iTunes - Linux, OSX, Windows

Got this widescreen monitor to connect to my macbook pro for working on audio software. The monitor is great it was just plug and play with my macbook. Viewing angle is wide. Can't comment on the representation of colors for photography needs as that was not my intended use.The built in speakers aren't great and I don't use them.

I just finished installing my VG228 LED monitor. It arrived today. Overall I am happy with it. I purchased it primarily for its egronomical benefits which most personal monitors do not have. The height adjustment works well and is a big help to someone with a challenging back. The color is good and the monitor is easy to install. I was disappointed with the speakers. They work but they are limited. The Dell speakers which came with my low end pc are far better, and I think I will probably use them. Another disappointment was the two external USB ports. These are located on the back of the monitor and well this does not allow a lot of functionality. Most monitors with USB have them on the side for easy use, and I was expecting this. I think View Sonic needs to work on this model.

I must say this product is very good however, I had a bit of a rough start.First you must ensure that the Input is set to PC when using HDMI (by default it uses AV). Second, it takes a bit of tuning on the Screen Resolution control panel of your video card to get things right(Try setting it to the monitor's native resolution several times, it took around 3 attempts for me).At first I had blurry letters and the screen didn't fit on my Windows 7 machine but, after the above tweaks it worked fine(Oh and I didn't mention any brightness/contrast adjustments but that is up to your taste).**Caution note: check your video card's slots, this monitor has HDMI(some cards have miniHDMI input so you'll need a converter, not included) and VGA. Sorry, no DVI of any sort.

You must have with this monitor. It's a good buy, but to get the color and everything exactly how I need it for graphic design work was really frustrating. I ended up using 50% for all the color settings when hooked up to my airbook and then cranking the contrast and brightness up. Combined with Apple's display adjustment utility I was finally able to get it to look good.Design wise, the product is awesome. I use it in the bookcase setup and love the sleek minimal design and appearance. I do think the labels on the left could be smaller but ... meh. Having two HDMI inputs is nice too. Good buy for the price but takes patience.

The quality of the monitor is good, especially for the sale price I bought two of these monitors at, however, blacks aren't as dark as I had hoped, the cable has VGA connectors but the monitor has DVI and VGA connection choices. Plug and play was simple and built in menu for settings and adjustments are easy to use.I have a 23" LG LED monitor that has a glossy finish. When I compare the two, I prefer the LG but the price is higher.

One of my first monitors was a viewsonic and it lasted a long time.I'm pleased with this monitor even through I paid more than some of the other monitors of the same size.I really like the adjustable stand and the integrated USB ports. Seems like the other monitors are skimping on monitor adjustment...at least that was the biggest complaint from buyers.

If you move around the monitor even at all, either the HDMI cable comes loose or the power cable comes loose. The TINY power cable should have been a standard computer plug cable connection and it would have been a great improvement. One finger tight screw to hold base to monitor? Are you kidding me? It's like they want you to make it as the bookend setup. The monitor base should have been better design. It should have been bigger, it's just barely covering the monitor size at 27 inch. I will keep the monitor and deal with the cables, just as long as you got the monitor they way you want it it's great. I just can't recommend it, there are better designed bases, and cable connections then this.

We paid more than we needed to pay to get a model with a base that adjusted height, swiveled, and tilted. Other Viewsonics with similar specs werefifty dollars cheaper, but had fixec, weak, stands. These are used in our offices and are a good size, great quality video and contrast, and for us, adjustable

I have two, each purchased a few months a part. Its a solid monitor, but the speakers leave something to be desired, I would expect this, but as the line between monitors and "TVS" close, I would expect this to improve. Still a good buy, with good image.It would be nice if the height would adjust up and down.

This is a nice monitor with lots of features. The only bad thing about it is the speaker that came part of the monitor. It is NOT loud at all. In fact its useless. This feature should not even be included. The software that came with it is also not reliable because I am running windows 8.

I purchased this for my son because he was dying to have a dual monitor setup for his laptop. Plugged this in and had it setup in under a minute. The only problem is that this display is so nice that his laptop display looks very poor in comparison! Great value, great image quality!

I received this monitor yesterday and am very pleased thus far. There are many good reviews already written, so I'll add just a few points that appear to have not been covered by others (or ones that have but for which I disagree).Most important to understand is that this monitor as a matte screen, so if you're in the market for a glass-like look (like your iPhone), look elsewhere. However, the advantage of a matte screen -- which is what my TV and all other monitors are -- is that they maintain excellent color in well-lit areas, including direct sunlight. You'll enjoy a glare-free experience which is important.The built-in speakers aren't particularly great, but you probably won't listen to music via the computer anyway. That said, if you have a favorite set of speakers already, or a good set of headphones, keep them.Several reviewers have commented about the stability of the stand (praising it). I find it to be rather flimsy. The number one reason for this is that the whole setup has three (3) pieces: the monitor itself, the base which makes contact with the desk, and the arm which connects from the base to the back of the monitor. This is done to cut down on packaging costs. However, it makes for a less stable setup. (A very stable monitor would have just two pieces, such as Apple's Thunderbolt display.)Again, great monitor for the price I paid. The MSRP is listed as $500, which is too much though. This is a good $300 monitor, so look around to make sure you get a price in that area. The only other con is that there isn't a USB port on the monitor. Built-in USB will be one of the biggest priorities for those wishing to connect external speakers. Obviously, you can still connect them directly to your computer, but you'll need to make sure the cables are long enough.Would purchase again? Probably, but would take a second look at the 27" LEDs by HP.

The picture quality doesn't compare to my 42" Plasma, but it's still a nice display. I used my plasma TV as my main display for about a year (still do, just not as my main display anymore). Don't get me wrong though, it's still a nice picture. If you are looking for nice sound and speakers from a monitor, look elsewhere. I have a nice sound card and headphones, so the terrible sound does not bother me.The only thing I don't like about it is the VGA port is the only one that is solid. The HDMI ports and power connector are fairly flimsy. The picture cuts in and out if you bump the HDMI cable. I ended up using some clear tape to support the HDMI cables.I had difficulty getting my desktop to display properly at first. I had to switch the input from AV to PC in the monitor's menu, and set my graphics card to overscan at 0% in CCC. The picture fit perfectly and is very crisp after that.I also use CCC to control Contrast, Brightness, Color, Gamma, etc. instead of the monitor. Blacks are blacker, and colors are darker and more vibrant that way. I set all these values to default in the monitor's menu (50 Brightness, 50 Contrast, color, etc.)The 2ms response time and 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000:1 mega contrast ratio are overrated. There is terrible "ghosting" when the response time is set to 2ms in the menu (the "advanced" 5ms setting is perfect), and I literally cannot tell the difference between the regular 1,000:1 contrast ratio and the 1 billion:1 mega dynamic ratio.If it was not for the crappy, loose, and weak ports in the back, I would have considered five stars. The less than 200 dollar price make this a good deal in my eyes.

great picture fast response time and like the option to have speakers on a monitor, one flaw is that the sound quality is not there and a little hard to hear but a great monitor for the price also like the option for the 2nd HDMI input on the back would recommend

I'm no monitor connoisseur, but I spend hours a day staring at Excel spreadsheets on this monitor and really like it. My favorite feature is the bookstand option. I work on a laptop in a dock at my office desk, with this monitor to my right a bit and angled towards me. I work on both the laptop monitor and this monitor at the same time. The bookstand makes the monitor lower (closer in height to my laptop screen) and allows me to adjust the vertical angle just right, making it easier for me to glance back and forth between the two monitors.

I got this monitor for work, I was using a 19" touchscreen Pixielink lcd monitor, not utilizing the touchscreen part and needed a larger monitor for reading error logs and just basically needed more monitor real estate. What a joy it is to have this large monitor, all pixels appear bright and clear and the large size makes working much more enjoyable, from reading emails, to working on large spreadsheets to perusing log files. My only issue is that I forgot to verify that it was vesa compatible, so I could not mount it to my ergotron arm.

I've had this monitor for over a year now and it's been terrific. Vivid colors, great refresh rate....def no complaints. Next time I might upgrade to something with adjustable height, but i knew that restriction when I bought this model.

I had to play with the Veiwsonic VX2753MH to reduce the fuzzy text. My 24" ViewSonic has great text at the exact same 1920 x 1080 resolution. I moved a spreadsheet between the two monitors and then spanned both monitors with the same spreadsheet. The 27 inch montor remained fuzzy. I went to the Viewsonic web site and downloaded the most current driver with no improvement. The graphics quality was great, it was only the text that was fuzzy. Oddly, when I switched the 27" monitor from HDMI to VGA, the VGA connection seemed more clear, but it did change the resolution slightly. I even reduced the color from 32 bit to 16 bit with no change in text resolution.I was also able to improve the text quality some by reducing the contrast and brightness settings. The bottom line is that with the same resolution, the 24 inch is going to be more clear with text. The increase in resolution would need a higher dpi setting to fully resolve the problem... I'm not sure the issue can be resolved fully - I am running the display at the maximum resoluton. I guess I can try the monitor with higher quality graphics boards, but this is hooked up to a fairly robust graphics configuration for a laptop.The main reason I am going with a "3" is the lack of a VESA mount. I've never seen a modern TV or monitor of 23" or more without it. I guess I would have caught that if I had read some of the other reviews, so shame on me. I guess that's what you get when you assume something.Graphics, however are fantastic except that text remains fuzzy. Also, the choice to not include a VESA mount has severly limited placement options to a desktop. Really not optimal when running 4 or more monitors.

This is a great monitor. The colors are bright. The size is great. It is thin and very light weight. My only complaint is it does not have a way to attach a monitor extension arm. I am legally blind and need the monitor -close-. The stand provided does not allow the monitor to be close enough because the keyboard is in my way. I purchase an extension arm and we are designing our own frame for this monitor to set in to mount it to the arm.
