The "wireless bridge" function does not work. Regular initialization and setup was a breeze for one. I bought two in order to send the signal to another location, but they don't communicate properly and this made my purchase absolutely worthless. I am not going to try and change the firmware because I bought them to function as designed and they do not.

I guess I should have paid more attention to the other reviews. I wanted to replace my old D-Link router to stream some video and the new TP-Link TL-WR841N worked great for seven days but failed on 01/18/2012. I have been setting up DSL and wireless networks for many years and I have never seen any of my wireless routers fail before. I tried resetting the router, setting defaults, and upgrading the firmware but nothing would make the wireless work again.FYI, it looks like the wireless radio failed for some reason but the wired router hardware was still functional so I could still access the configuration web page throught the wired connection at IP address 192.168.1.1. I was still getting an IP address from the DSL modem and I could change configuration settings. Hopefully, the wireless failure was caused by a single defective component rather than a design defect. At least my old D-Link router is still working so I still have a wireless connection.I returned (1/19/2012) the defective router using the printed mailing labels provided by Amazon. Amazon also sent me an email that stated they couldn't ship another replacement router until the second week of February which doesn't really make sense. Hopefully, Amazon will send me another "working" router sooner than that since the defective router is already on its way back.****UPDATED 03/01/2012****Amazon did a great job and shipped a replacement router to me. The replacement router is working well and I haven't seen issues with it so far. I am thinking of buying another TL-WR841N router and configuring it for wireless bridge mode to see how well it works for streaming videos.

Lo instale facilmente con el cd que trae y me configuro sin problemas mi red en casa, con la mayor proteccion y hay buena se?al en toda la residencia. El internet esta mas estable con con el solo modem que tenia antes. Buen equipo.

Lo compr? para uso domestico en mi casa y me ha salido muy bueno, recepci?n excelente y como vivo en un apartamento peque?o pues tengo se?al WiFi en TODA mi casa. Excelente!

I would probably have given 5 stars if I didn't have to reboot it one time in the few weeks I've had it up (seemingly for no particular reason - seems like DNS just stopped working). Other than that, it seems to work very well, and setup was a snap.

I was looking for a router that was simple to set up and this router did that for this non-network savvy user. It works great and at a good price. It increased my wifi speed significantly for all my devices. Thanks for the great product!

Upgraded from an old Linksys 54G, and upgraded my cable modem as well. 16 meg download and 2 meg upload over Wi-Fi. Improved my signal strength and range.

our last router crapped out after about 6 years. So i got this one as a replacement. I am not very computer savi but the only complain i have is i can not connect the tablet to it. No problems with the old router but this one i just cant do it. I like the fact that this has a power button which makes for the restarting or powering off and the range is ok.

The set-up was very easy and it works better than the Linksys router that I previously had. I also bought a TP-Link range extender to go along with it and it works well also.

i struggled to install this for 3 hours but everytime i tried to reset reconnect and anything else it would come up with error messages saying it cannot connect to the network or cannot attain the ip address, i even called their tech support and they couldnt even figure out what was wrong with it.will not buy again

I'm NOT a tech person so I was beyond hesitant when buying my first wifi router (yes, this was my FIRST router... I've been plugged in to the modem for the past 10 years). This was SUPER easy to set up - I just plugged everything in and popped the little dvd into my laptop. I was connected to the internet within 5 minutes. I use the wifi within a space of about 600 sq. feet and get excellent reception. Very pleased!

For the most part this works very well, and my family is satisfied. However, I don't know what happened the other day, but the WiFi was just not working. Once I plugged my computer directly into the internet modem, it worked fine. But then the router eventually started working again later that evening, so I'm not really sure. It works all right. It's good for the money you pay.

Took a chance on this router based on the good reviews but unfortunately after hooking it up, could never get it to maintain a connection for more than a few minutes. In 5 years have never had issues like this with my Linksys/Cisco router.Not worth the hassle dealing with tech support so just returned it.

I thought this was going to be a great improvement for my wi-fi needs. As it turns out, the connections get dropped and when I am connected, they are much slower than they were with my previous cheap 6 year old router. If I would have know the service value of this was so low, I would not have bought it.

This router is more dependable that my previous Linksys router which tended to cut out. The range on this unit is fine. I can see no reason to shell out more for home use. The internet connection is usually the bottleneck, not the router speed.

I am pleased with the output of this router. I did run into problems with it not being compatable with my DSL router. When I plugged it in my internet light would stop responging. FIX! All I had to do was use an old router between the DSL router and the TP-Link router. No Issues at all since. If that was not an issue I would give 5 stars.

I purchased this for my in-laws who are not technically adept. The primary need was to supply WiFi for my mother-in-law's Nook. Since at this time they would not be streaming media to their TV or other devices, I chose this model rather than other, more capable models.I set up the router at my home so that I could essentially just take it to their home, connect it to their DSL modem and have it quickly up and in service. What I was not expecting was the granularity of control in the admin pages of the router's web UI. The interface is clean and well organized, and clear. It may not be the most whiz-bang one has seen, but that's a good thing. I admit that as a network professional, it is easier for me to understand all the options than maybe some, but still, I think this implementation is straightforward enough for nearly everyone.My only potential doubt for this product is that it feels light and a bit cheap, particularly the wall wart power supply. Given the price, that's not too surprising. I would expect it to be reliable for at least a year, but if it does not last longer than that, it would still be a decent expenditure. The packaging and documentation were very good.Overall I recommend this router for those who want an inexpensive device and who do not have heavy streaming and/or on-line gaming requirements. If I could give this a 4-1/2 star rating I would, as I think it is a bit better than 4 stars.

Purchased this router to install DD-WRT on it. Turns out it came with the newest v8 firmware, which is NOT supported by DD-WRT. Router still worked for my needs though since it has built-in wireless bridging.

I received my router today (v7.2). After setting it up (ethernet connection to Blu-ray player to stream yo utube and other videos, wireless connection to laptops and smartphones), I started noticing that the router will drop the connection (both wired and wireless) unpredictably. This flakiness is simply unacceptable this day and age (how would I successfully stream an entire movie without interruptions? I also need a reliable connection when working from home).After calling the customer service, the rep was unable to determine the problem and suggested that I get a replacement with Amazon. I have to echo other reviews I've seen online... TP-Link's customer service reps seem to be based out of China. I'm Chinese and I find it hard to understand the heavy Chinese accent of the rep. But at least she was courteous and really tried to help me with my problem. I've had much worse customer service experience.The 1 star review is for the product. Flaky connection that randomly drops out for a minute or two, plus shipping no documentation and with a mini-CD for initial set-up that's useless for me since my laptops either have no DVD drive, or have the slot-loading variety that cannot accept these mini-CDs. I was really hoping for a 4 or 5-star product that requires minimal maintenance/attention. I hope my situation is not common at all.I like my products to work right out of the box. Since I'd rather not spend more time tinkering with the router by flashing with DD-WRT as many others have done, I'm going to give the product another chance and just ordered a replacement with Amazon's customer service rep. Keeping my fingers crossed....

I Covered a 1900 sq ft house with this router with strong signal to the entire house and even into the yard. The router was on the far end of the house as we did not have a place to put it in the center of the house which is the BEST choice. If you think you need more signal you should opt for the model above this one the TL-WR841ND (the D means you can remove the antenna and replace with a high gain antenna. I have the high gain antenna's on mine at work and have almost full signal outside about 150ft away. Great router, love TP-Link and the price.
