I've only just received my ThrustMaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick. Setup is very easy. Windows 7 64bit, just plugged it in and it is auto detected, you don't even have to reboot. Make sure the joystick throttle are in the center position before plugging it in. All of the combat functions can be mapped to the throttle handle or the stick. theres so many buttons I had to figure out ways to use them all. Theres 4 buttons on the stick, 6 on the throttle lever, and 2 on the throttle base. Also, a hat switch on the stick, and extra rudder control on the throttle. I mapped that to Energy. I can quickly swing from full power to weapons or shields, when released, it centers on balanced. You can easily boost your shields if you get in trouble in a dogfight without hunting for a keyboard key.The build quality is fantastic. the handle creaks sometimes, but I'm not concerned because it feels solid.

My son has an insatiable interest in flying airplanes and absolutely loves his flight simulator. We got him the Microsoft version to go with it after reading many reviews. He enjoys it so much that he wants to start an aviation club at his middle school next year. It is definitely very cool and even my boyfriend and I plan on flying.

My first flight stick (or joystick) was the Microsoft Force Feedback Pro which was a very good stick - it had some 'slop' in it which eventually got so bad that it was no longer tolerable. It was rugged and comfortable to use, but Microsoft quit making them & also quit supporting them in many flight Sims & newer games. I then had two Saitek Cyborg Evo Joysticks. The first one developed a problem after 11 months with little use, when it went out of calibration and the rudder output stuck in 50% left rudder position and couldn't be fixed by recalibration so it was replaced under 1-year warranty. Within 10 months switch #5 quit working on the second or replacement joystick so at this point I decided to look for a different manufacturers joystick because by now I had lost faith in Saitek being able to make a reliable joystick. I am seventy years old and I take good care of my equipment - I don't abuse my joysticks so if they don't last for me I doubt that they would last for anyone. I searched Amazon reading joystick reviews and came across the T-flight Hotas Stick Pc PS3. This joystick had the features I wanted and was rated very high - almost 5 stars even though at the time it had only five reviews - so I ordered it.This joystick can be used with either a PC or PlayStation 3. It has a PC-PS3 switch so you can select which one you use.It came with the throttle and joystick separated so I decided to try it this way for a while. I've had this joystick now since the first week in August 2009 and I really like this joystick.PRO:1. It comes in two parts, the throttle & joystick, separated by an interconnecting cable approximately 18" between them - but, they can be mounted together as one assembly if desired as the necessary wrench is included and the throttle & joystick are designed to be mounted together as one unit. I like them separated as it is more realistic - with the throttle on my left and the joystick on my right.2. Very simple to connect to your computer. You connect the joystick to the USB port on your computer via the integral USB cable & connector - that's it! No separate power supply or adapter is required because this joystick gets its power from your computer through the USB cable/connection.3. No installation CD included or required as once you connect this joystick to your computer it is automatically recognized and calibrated - a plug & play joystick - they don't get any simpler than this!4. The throttle & joystick are very comfortable to hold & use. Together they have twelve programmable switches which are very easy to use on both the throttle & joystick. There are four programmable switches on the joystick module and eight on the throttle module. The joystick can be twisted left-right for the rudder control - the throttle module has a slider switch which can also be used for rudder control if so desired. Also there is an eight-position hat switch located on top of the joystick - this is normally used for 'looking around' in flight simulator programs. Both modules are quite robust & heavy enough so they don't move around much unless you really give them some pushing around.5. So far this joystick is performing excellent & a great buy for the money.CON:1. None that I know of so far - except maybe it would be nice to have the interconnecting cable between the joystick & throttle modules be longer & have connectors that can be unplugged in case of damage they could be replaced. Also I'd like to be able to move them a little further apart.UNKNOWN:1. How long will this last before something goes wrong? Only time will tell.T-flight Hotas Stick Pc PS3

I have to say this by far the best Joystick I have ever had. I am not at all into Sim games, but love to have a more realistic feel. For helicopters in BF3, it is amazing, have my Stats page, Spotting Button, Reload, Switch weapon, Countermeasures, Fire weapon, and Chase View toggle all bound to the joystick. W/o this stick I could not fly like I do and help my gunner (aka my wife) rack up so many kills.

After playing HAWX and HAWX 2, I went to the controller configuration and noticed support for this stick and throttle. I was happy. I bought it immediately. It wasn't exactly what I thought. It is comfortable, and weighted down, however, unit is most stable when not detached from the throttle body. It could have used some kind of mounting, even suction cups would have worked. The only real complaint I have with this stick is that the throttle has little to no resistance, and it has a preset Locked posistion in the middle. Overall though, it is worth what I paid for it. It also supports PC which is a bonus. If you get this product, word of advice, lock the Z axis on the stick and just use the Rudder buttons on the throttle. The Z axis on the stick is very sensitive.

Well I ordered this because a co-worker had told me THIS IS THE BEST JOYSTICK YOU CAN EVER GET FOR YOUR MONEY!.. and to my surprise he was right! I love that its not a force feedback(because deadzone is greater) you can adjust your tension by a twist knob underneath. For $50 this thing is WAY worth it. Best Hostas stick you will find for the money!

Before Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog, I owned this T-Flight Stick. This stick is awesome for flight games (HAWX, Raider) and for beginner to sims (FSX, DCS, Lock-On).Buttons & Controls: 3/5Most of the basic controls are provided on that hardware. There are flaps control, Rudder control (By twisting the joystick), throttler, 4 ways hat (To view around the aircraft), weapon button and such.Sufficient buttons for flight based games, however keyboard is still heavily needed for sims.No force-feedback on joystick thou.Easy of Use: 5/5They say that "As Easy As A-B-C". This is a truly Plug-N-Play and you are ready to roll-out for FSX and HAWX alike. No configuration is needed. Just FLY-ON.Built Quality: 3/5The feel of this joystick is... plastics. The throttle movement is way too hollow, like what you can expect out of any toys out from Toys'R'Us.The base of the joystick is way too light, you will have problem of having the joystick to stay put on your table without it moving or sliding around.Value: 5/5Worth every cent of it. You can have both joystick and throttle controls with less than $50 bucks. That's a really good deal. Conclusion:If you are looking at a casual flight games or trying out simulation experience, this is the stick for you.It is cheaply built joystick with a wallet friendly price tag.

The T-flight Hotas Stick is designed to connect via the USB port and work with either a PC or a PS3. So far, we've tried it on a PS3 only with the excellent IL - 2 Sturmovik - Birds of Prey and with Tom Clancy's HAWX.I will discuss our experience within the context above.PACKAGING AND SETUPNot much to complain in this area. the 'instrument' comes nicely packed and it was easy to get it out of the box. It's initially separated into 2 modules: the joystick/rudder and the throttle and it's possible to use the joystick only. It took us a couple of minutes to figure out how to fit the 2 pieces together but, in the end, it was no big deal. It comes down to tightening a couple of screws with the supplied tool that is stored safely for future use at the bottom of the stick. The only other adjustments other than 'programming' would be to 'block' the rudder function on the joystick by tightening another screw so that it's only available on the throttle and to set the proper handle resistance via a dial located on the bottom of the joystick module.Using the stick with the PS3 is as simple as setting the USB selector button to PS3 and plugging the USB connector into one of PS3's ports, then starting the game.OPERATIONFrom a PS3, point of view, I am happy to see that all the Six-Axis buttons, including the PS are mapped on the joystick and the throttle and, most of the time, they are clearly labelled. The main differences are of course, this controller being wired and its lacking rumble and motion sensitivity. To avoid complications, it is possible to start your PS3 with the joystick as the only control and then start your game and operate everything this way.The manual states that, once you begin using it within a game, the stick will calibrate itself after you make a few moves. We haven't experienced calibration issues so it must be true. The 8 ft. USB chord may be sufficient for most but it wasn't for us. We have a rather large screen and we play from 8-9 ft. away. The AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable (9.8 Feet / 3.0 Meters) took care of that problem. My 12 yr. old kid feels that the games are more responsive when using the PS3's own motion-sensitive controller. This is probably the case but what this device provides is some level of realism. It's more realistic to pilot a plane with a stick and a throttle than by tilting and shaking a controller. After a little practice, he now prefers the Stick to the PS3 controller.MY RATINGI found the T-flight Hotas Stick to be a great way to play flight simulation games and, for the price, it can't get much better than this. I am happy with this purchase and so are my kids. It's 5 stars which, in Amazon translation means "we love it".__________________________________________________PROGRAMMINGWe tried it, just for fun and it turns out to be quite easy even though not exactly needed for the games we are currently playing. It's basically a 4-step process that would allow you to:- switch buttons- switch axes between themselves- switch the directions of the same axisIt's done by enabling the 'manual' mode by pressing a button, press and release the mapping button, press the button or direction you want to program, press and release the button or direction you are placing the function. For all of the above there is visual feedback of LEDs flashing.Like I said, it can be done but it can get complicated quickly. Thankfully, it's easy to erase your manual preset and to return to the factory defaults.

Just got this controller and let me say that i am very pleased with this control so far.First of all it looks great and has a good feel to it , i had a Sidewinder that went bad and i am happy with this as a replacement.Set up was as easy as ever, as a matter of fact there was no set up at all , i took it from the box plugged it up to my PC and started to fly my simulator(Microsoft sim X) just like that , did not have to program any button, the most important function are already programed like flaps, gears, view etc.Plus you stil have a lot of button that you can add function to if you want.Love the fact that this can also be used with my PS3 to play game with just the flick of a switch, i dont think there are maymore joysticks that offer that .And yes this control can be seperated but what is also neat is the fact that it come with its own hex key at the bottom of the control . There is also a space on the bottom dedicated to storing the wire that connect the trottle when it is seperated.I will update my review a few weeks later.I will highly recommend this control especially for the price.Again an awesome control

I have used this as my primary controller in Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) since I got the game, and I am quite happy with the performance of this device. It is solid, heavy-duty and takes a licking and keeps on ticking! The HAT switch allows me to sweep around inside or outside the cockpit, and the programmable buttons make FSX flying much more enjoyable because key functions are right there on the controller! I programmed it for Autopilot, Reverse Thrust, Flaps and ATC to name just a few common functions, nothing could be faster or easier. Love this thing and although I've been thinking about buying a flight "YOKE" to more closely resemble the 737 that I fly daily - I have resisted it because this puppy is just a GREAT VALUE and works perfectly with my game of choice (FSX).If you're on the fence, buy this, you'll never regret it. When I fly helicopters in FSX of course this really shines as well. You can 'twist' the grip and control your rudder as well!

Hands down the best buy I've ever made on a game controller. The price was very reasonable, item shipped immediately and arrived sooner than I expected, despite heavy holiday shipping volume. Setup was quick and easy. Joystick quality is excellent-solid construction, quality materials; looks like it can take rough usage & not give out. (I'm not hard on equipment; I doubt if I'll find out about durability.) Performance has left nothing to be desired-controller feel and sensitivity are excellent. I highly recommend the unit. I'd like a new steering wheel for car games; based on my experience with this joystick, I'll certainly be checking out Thrustmaster's offerings.

I bought this product last week, for some of my flight sims. Shipping was fast and got it within 3-4 days. This is an economical upgrade, it's not awesome, but will do me for now. Works great with HAWX, and Aces High. Doesn't work well with DCS A-10C, or Freefalcon, then again these are true Flight Sims with Intense realism. However for my needs right now, it fits the bill and will upgrade again to the Saitek X52 Pro later. This is a great Product for typical flight games and not super in-depth, intense true flight sims. My previous flight stick was the logitech Wingman Extreme, major upgrade with separate throttle and the extra buttons. Overall for my personal immediate gaming needs, this absolutely fits the bill for now.

I bought this joystick with the intention to use it for FreeSpace 2, and it does that and much more. It is pretty much perfect, with all of the important commands mapped on the joystick well (besides communication, but with the followup button presses its probably best that's on the keyboard anyways). My one complaint, though not a complaint with the joystick but important to note, is that the throttle front-back motion and rocker doesn't work. I believe this is due to the input not recognized being analog and not digital but I'm not sure. I just mapped accelerate and decelerate to the two buttons on the front of the throttle and that works well for me, and I wouldn't know what I'd use the rocker for anyways. I did a little bit of the X-Plane demo and it worked perfectly for that, but haven't bought the game yet. I would definitely recommend this for FreeSpace though, if you're looking for a great space sim (hasn't been a new one in a while as far as I've seen).

I own the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas. It is a great easy to install joystick and throttle. There was very little set up, just plug in and fly. There are a number of buttons settings for whatever controls your game and sim may have. I do have one complaint. The flight stick and throttle can separate, allowing you to use the stick just like a real aircraft. But the wire that connects the two is very short. I like to fly with the stick on one side and the throttle on the other side. This would be similar to how an F-16 would fly. Overall, great joystick.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this stick. Yes, its just plastic, but it looks good and seems plenty tough. Everything works smoothly, and there are enough buttons to satisfy all but the really hard core guys. The weight is substantial and it doesnt move around when in use. My only gripe is that the USB cable could be longer. I had to buy an extension to be able to set where I want to when I use it. There really is no competition at this price range.

I have had the urge to get a space flight game for some time, and then I rediscovered Freespace 2. Its really unbelievable what the community has come up with making it into a modern game.I haven't had a flight stick since I was rocking Tie Fighter back in the day, but knew I would want one to add to the gaming experience. I found this on sale and dove in.First impressions, its bigger than I had anticipated (a good thing), very well made, looks like it could take a pretty good beating. The ability to separate or join the throttle to the stick is a great feature. After a few hours of play I had the tension set where I wanted it, it was very easy to get the feel I wanted. I couldn't be happier with this stick, its works great and having the throttle gives a ton of options.Having an amazing time going through the Freespace 2 campaign and jumping over to the Babylon Project, unreal how much work was put into it. I can't stress enough if you have this stick (or any) grab Freespace 2, super cheap and virtually unlimited gameplay via an amazing modding communityIf you want a solid stick on a budget, this is a winnerThere is a big learning curve coming back to a stick after so long, but after a weekend of going at it I'm starting to feel like an ace again. Practice, practice, practice is the only way to get the feel of any stick.

I also downloaded the HAWX demo from steam to test drive it in combat, its ok but personally I didn't enjoy it that much (The sensitivity was too low and I could not find a way to adjust it). Bought this to use on FSX, and it works great. It comes in two pieces, but it is really easy to connect the throttle to the main joystick with the included wrench, and it still has a good solid feel to it after you do that. The resistance on the joystick is good, and it was a breeze to setup. I do find in FSX that the trim can randomly be off, and it took me a while to figure that out. But beyond that I think this is a great joystick and definitely worth the money. One side note - I purchased this on a Friday afternoon at 12pm and did the $3.99 Prime next day delivery, and I got it that Saturday by 9am. Very happy about that!!

I purchased this joystick after on of the buttons on my old joystick sheared off. I expected this to be bulky but fairly effective for the price. The buttons take a little getting used to from a standard joystick but I found them very helpful after a few missions in IL-2. The best pro about the Thrustmaster is just how tight the X and Y axis are. This joystick centers to 0 every time and makes detailed flight controls a lot more effective. For the price, this joystick gives you substantial flexibility and very accurate controls for a reasonable price.

For the price its decent but if u can i would suggest spending a little extra on a better stick. Im used to using the hori flight stick 2 that came with ace combat it was perfect. This stick has a HUGE deadzone. It allows for you to tighten or loosen the stick but in the end it still has a HUGE deadzone. If you are seriously wanting a precise control this is not the stick. If u are a casual flyer than for the price it is a decent buy.
