I was looking for a decent joystick at a low price to play some new titles (A-10C Warthog), and some of my older favorites (Freespace). This was the only stick I found with detachable throttle for under 50$ that looked good. I was not expecting anything great from it for 35$, but decided it was better to try this out first and if I felt it was inadequate I could upgrade at a later time and not have wasted too much money. (edit: I see now Amazon has put it back at 50$, I'm glad I got it for a low price while I could).Having tried it out I am very pleased with it overall, especially for the price. The construction is solid on this stick. While the materials used are not high end (lots of plastic), for 35$ you can't expect higher grade material. They work and they won't break on you any time soon. There are lots of buttons on the stick and throttle that you can map. I can't imagine needing more.The dead zone is pretty good on this stick. When I fired up my first game I was unimpressed with the way the stick handled and what I thought was a horrible dead zone. Moving the stick in any direction slightly resulted in no movement on the screen. I felt like I was having to push the stick half way in any direction just to get some movement. I can assure you that if you are experiencing this in any game, it's the game / game settings that are causing it. To test, install the latest windows drivers from the Hotas website for this stick. Run the device information tool and watch the graph on the screen as you move the stick in any direction. This will show you what is being detected when the stick moves. I noticed this tool was detecting more movement than the game was. In my case, I found settings for dead zone in the games settings and set it to 0 which resolved the problem I was having.Cable length on this stick is great. I had read some other reviews saying the cables between the stick and the throttle are not long enough. I'm not sure what people expect, but I can assure you they have a lot of length between them. I was able to fit a full size keyboard with number pad and media keys between the stick and the throttle.+ Construction is solid+ Very minor dead zone+ Long cables+ Lots of buttons that can be mapped- Lots of plastic+/- Unsure how this stick will hold up over time. For 35$ if I can get 1-2 years out of it I would be happy.

I really want to like this joystick, as it has all the bells and whistles that I like. The button placement is intuitive and the thruster and paddle controls are excellent.However, this joystick really fails at where it counts, the actual joystick.There is a considerable "dead zone" along both the X and Y axis, where when you move the joystick in simple circles, the calibration "sticks" to the the X and Y axis, which results in jerky quick movements which results in much frustration. I double checked with a friend who also has one of these and he confirmed the same results as me.I would not recommend this joystick because of the poor sensitivity of the joystick.

There are more than enough buttons, mapping is easier than in my other devices. The highlight is the hardware itself. Smooth working and solid feeling. The device takes a moderate bit of time to properly split apart or put together, so you won't be jumping between physical setups quickly. It is not truly a lap friendly unit either, but with a simple laptop computer pad/desk you are fine. The weight is enough to let you keep it stable without crushing legs. The range of motion means you can't have it too close to the monitor, etc. I'm not using this for a pure flight sim but with World of Warplanes and other PC based MMOs.

This flight stick is just the baddest one I have used in years. I couldn't believe that it was for a console. It can be used on a PC also. It feels good in your hand, it doesn't have any goofy actions, every button is reachable. The mapping feature is just cool. easier to map through the flight stick than the friggin options menu in the game. LOLJust when you don't think this stick gets any cooler, then you take it apart so you have both pieces on each side of your favorite gaming chair! I would highly recommend this stick. I use it to fly in BattleField 3, Birds of Steel and IL2 Smirknoff or whatever that game is. Good Hunting and see yall in the air!

If you're looking to flight sim in PC, don't get this. PC has much other stuff. Look into CH products for PC flight sims, they are the best hands down for PC.But PS3 doesn't recognize CH stuff, so for PS3 this is the bomb.Thrustmaster is a good company. I remember using their TOp Gun stick in the MiG Alley days in PC. Awesome stick lasted for 7 years.If you're flight simming for PS3, this is the best. PS3 recognized it from the moment the usb went in. Remember the PS3 switch! Plug n play is big for consoles n pc's.Construction is solid, good plastic, it survived a 3 foot drop (don't let excited dogs near your rig) and works like the day I pulled it from the box.I use it for IL-2 PS3, so they had preprogrammed settings, but everything was fine for custom mapping also. I'm hoping flipping Ace Combat 7 will come out for PS3 as Ace Combat 6 betrayed the Playstation (series was only for PS until Gates threw a billion dollaz at Bandai!!!) That saidIts dead zones are great, sensitivity good. Movement is great, has a spring. Also stick returns to middle, which is a bonus. I think it should be mandatory but not all sticks for this price range don't.Buttons are good. Not too hard to press and not so flimsy you feel it's going to fall out.The hat is excellent and responds with a solid touch. The hat isn't as well made as a CH fighter stick's, as there one you can feel the direction the hat is being pressed and its more sensitive to touch; not so for the X.Its not as heavy as older sticks (the tmaster top gun, you had to literally try to pick it up) so if you're stick jerker, it'll move around. But if you're a gently caress type virtual pilot, the weight is good enough.Another plus is you can separate them. BIG additive for me as I like to have them apart for ergonomic reasons and create that "cockpit" feel. Not that I go all out and build an actual mockup of a plane like hardcore guys do.Its reliable and if its anything like thruster master PC's offerings, it'll last years.Cons. Nothing's perfect (Well except God, but I'm not qualified to review God). First off is the stick shape isn't generic enough to fit in my hand. The CH fighter stick I speak of is based of the F-16, which is sized for general public. Not the X, it has some deep curves in it.Also there is a button on the top right corner that sometimes I touch, depending what its mapped to, can be inconsequential or disastrous (its bomb drop so WW2 plane, there goes your loadout).The throttle feels funny in my hand. Its not as easy as the CH throttle (which has a potato [imagine potato with "eyes"] layout were all fingers can reach buttons with minimal movement). So some buttons my hand can get to easily, others I have do a "playing guitar stretch" to reach. Well its looks like something that belongs in a Klingon Warbird than a flight sim.The cons is looks. I was never into the space fighter style sticks, primarily Saitek loves that look, but the X goes for space race. But most simmers are into 20/21st century jets or WW I - II prop era planes.Another one is although you can separate it, you can't really move it that far apart due to the connecting cable being short.All in all, good stick for PS3. I'd get it again if someone stole it or it broke just outside of warranty. Use a solid surface like a desk when using this. It doesn't stay on your lap.

My old joystick was a logitech Extreme 3d pro. It lasted a good while but eventually the potentiometers in the twist went bad and it was time to find a new joystick. I did my homework and found the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick to have the best user reviews. I needed a good joystick that would last me through college but wasn't too expensive. At first I was skeptical because it appeared to me that the Thrustmaster T-flight stick might be made of cheap light weight plastic and just wouldn't feel right. My other choice was the madcatz Cyborg Saitek FLY 9. I'm glad I got the T-Flight, as many users complained that the FLY 9 was cheaply made and did not last very long.The T-Flight Is Awesome and does everything I expected and more. The combination twist axis joystick and throttle is awesome and adds alot of realism and controls that are always in reach. you hardly ever have to take your hands off the stick. It is defiantly made well and is heavier than I expected considering it is made of plastic. I love that you can attach and detach the throttle because it makes it easier to store in my cramped dorm. At first I was concerned that the flight stick part did not have enough buttons but after playing many different sims and games, I have not yet ran into any trouble (played with Hawx, DCS Blackshark, IL2 Sturmakov 1942, ARMA 2, Mechwarrior 4 mercenaries, Freespace 2, and Mechwarrior Living Legends). This stick has alot of pros but like any product it has it's cons. The cons I have for the stick are that the cable connecting the stick and throttle is a little short. I use it with a 17in laptop so I need to have the wire around the back and luckily It fits, but without much wire to spare (would have no problem with a desktop). Also the stick is surprisingly large, but it is very comfortable, so i'm not complaining. The only other problems are that there is a zone in the middle of the throttle where it sticks at 50% (It's designed to do that) which is great for games like mechwarrior where you want to be able to stand still at zero throttle and know for sure when you are in reverse or forward, but it is not so good for some realistic flight sims because you loose some precise throttle control around 50% throttle. Lastly there aren't really enough buttons for freespace 2, and I often need to supplement control with the keyboard, but that is the only game I have that problem with, as most sims with many controls require the user to take their hands off the stick sometimes anyway. It would be nice if there was a rubberized grip on the throttle or the stick to make it "feel" better but it's comfortable anyway.Overall the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS flight stick is an excellent buy for the price ans has everything I want in a joustick. I will use this thing for years to come.

Really simple. It doesn't have the spring at the bottom that other flight stick's have, thus giving the controls a more natural feel. The spring placed on the outside, underneath the handle gives a non natural, patchy,jerky like movement.You can separate the throttle and place it else where. However you don't must cord space.The throttle control has buttons on the actual throttle it self, allowing you to keep your hands placed on the throttle and press any button you need. Also has the longitudinatal button directly on the throttle. I use it as a gears up/and down.The joystick and throttle are large and in particular the joystick is pleasure to use because of its size and shaft. Pretty darn close to and Airbus! ( don't take my word look at your self)It's got a very durable feel and rugged designed. You can tell the engineers knew this bad boy was going to be used a lot.NoteIts a very large and heavy set! So may way for it.

Pros: Makes FSX much more realisticTons of buttons to customize to your needs, great button placementA dial under the joystick to change the sensitivity of moving the joystickCons:A little unstable sometimes. Hooking the two pieces together is awfully difficult. Still haven't figured it outOther thoughts: I wish it had some suction deals underneath it so you can suction it to your desk or something. Would help with keeping them still. But I highly recommend this compared to other joy sticks out there, especially for the price.

I had a Cyborg X flight stick and it was my 1st one. I adjusted the spring and return and it still always returned to hard to center. It didn't feel natural. This however fits perfectly on my desk, feels more authentic and is more versatile. If one wants, they can split it in two in order to feel like flying with a fly by wire set up, or you can conveniently put the stick and the throttle together. Plays well with every sim I've tried it on and I feel much more competitive than I did with the former stick.

Needed a new joystick for use with the DCS series and I really wanted a HOTAS setup, but found myself on a limited budget. Found and purchased this product after reading several positive reviews.Pros:- It was amazingly easy to set up (plug-and-play)- Plenty of buttons and great placement- Great value! I couldn't find a HOTAS setup anywhere else at this price.- Smooth movement on both throttle and joystickCons:- Small, uncorrectable dead-zone. The joystick handles extremely well when it comes to "white-knuckle flying", but for minor adjustments the dead-zone can be quite noticeable. I've tried various methods to correct this and have not been able to (I prefer to fly with zero dead zone).- There's a "stop" in the center position of the throttle. If you're launching into full throttle you'll skip right through it, but it will occasionally stick a bit if you are doing minor adjustments to the throttle in the middle (50%) area.- The amount of distance you can have between joystick and throttle is limited by a small length of cable, although it is long enough to set them comfortably apart on a desk.- The joystick will rock if separate from the throttle due to lack of support on its left side. I easily corrected this by just wedging a folded piece of paper towel there.I am very happy with my purchase, and despite listing several negatives above, the only one that truly bothers me is the noticeable dead zone. Although there are certainly better quality products out there (CH and Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick), a HOTAS setup at this price can't be beaten.

Plugged into USB port of Win7 PC and was ready to fly.. Well almost, as I had to designate which of the 12 buttons operated which aircraft systems.. Rocker Rudder switch works like a charm or can be used as an additional 2 systems buttons. Hat switch can be used for views or be programed in X-Plane as additional aircraft systems switches, for a total of 22 switches should you want..Joystick Twist function can be used for a myriad of functions as well as Rudder just depends on how you program it.. Typical of programing features for X-Plane.. Didn't need to calibrate of set null zone. Joystick worked perfectly out of box.. Nice heavy base with fairly large footprint keeps joystick section from rocking when detached from throttle section.Single detent in middle of throttle throw is my only disappointment and hardly worth mentioning.Haven't needed or used mapping or preset switches as all functions are set in the X-Plane program, so I can't address these functions.Most Bang for the Buck IMHO

Bought this for Microsoft FSX, and have not been disappointed. Controls work well and consistently. It was truely a plug and play device. For other online games, which say you can use either the mouse OR a joy stick, it is less reliable, but I attribute that to the quality of the software and the lack of graphic and device support

Purchased through Amazon, product arrived earlier than expected. Item worked right out of the box with no hiccups. It downloaded the drivers, installed them, and then ran me through a familiarization check list. The product is excellent regarding price to features. I would highly recommend the joystick to others keeping in mind this is sort of an entry level product.

I've been looking around for a flight stick for quite some time and this is the best one I've had yet. The movements are very precise, it doesn't have calibration issues like other joysticks do, and it's made to fit your hands really well.The separate throttle control give you much more control over the aircraft than controllers that have everything on one stick. I also like the idea of being able to change the function of the left-hand rudder control.One of the major selling points about this stick for me was the adjustable firmness of the stick. You can have it resist your movements or be very slack depending on what you prefer.

I have never tried flight sticks before, so didn't want to drop big bucks for it. Therefore I chose this one, to see if i like flying simulators. Turns out I loved it. This flight stick feels good and responses well. For 40$ its the best you can have, I tried 140$ flight stick after, and this one I liked more. Really recommended for casual flyers or for those who want to try out simulators!P.S. I never write reviews, but was happy with it and wanted to recommend for everyone looking to buy something like this.

Read all kinds of reviews and bought this, Im sorry I did. It is comfortable and thats about it. No tuning software, its low tech and the adjustments that you can make on it are insignificant. The knob you can turn on the bottom does nothing. Ive had the cyborg X, the X52, logitech 3d pro. Im looking for a gaming joystick that i can adjust and play with the sensitivity settings and i wanted a more up to date one. I dont recommend this product.

I bought this as a replacement for a Saitek X-45 that had a broken wire between the two modules that I could not replace. I bought a different brand, but had to return it because it was so stiff that it made control very tiring and difficult. I then bought this unit from Amazon in attempt to find a good Joystick without paying a fortune.Unpacking, and set up were fast and easy. No software was needed to hook it up to my iMAC, or my ASUS laptop. I was very happy to find that this unit has a knob under the joystick that allows me to adjust the stiffness to my liking.The controls are easy to use and very smooth in operation. There are enough buttons and switches to handle most often used funtions. The units are heavy enough that they should not slide around while in use. I like that you can separate the throttle unit from the joystick unit so they are in a more natural position when being used for flying sims.Having a good joystick/throttle combo like this makes simulators so much more enjoyable. I recommend it.

I recently acquired a couple of flight sim games during a Steam sale so I thought it would be worthwhile to invest in a decent flight sim joystick controller. If you have ever played any of these games before you would know how they pretty much demand it, and how having a flight stick heavily enhances the experience of playing the games.What I liked about this was a combination of things. First was the price, at around $50 it is easily one of the most accessible fight sticks on the market. What I also liked about it was the fact that it includes a throttle with rudder controls, giving you access to the same abilities you would have access to even if you bought one of the best top dollar flight stick sets on the market. Another good thing is the fact that it's a Thrustmaster stick, since they are known for producing what is arguably the best high end flight stick on the market (the Hotas Warthog).This won't come with all the realism effects of the high-end sticks, but at the same time you won't have to pay over $200 to get it. As an entry point to slight simulation it is perfect.

I use these to play FSX, MS Flight, and lock-on platinum on PC. Its pretty decent for around $40. I would really like to have force feedback. The throttle seems a little sloppy at times. It's hard to make fine adjustments. I can ultimately say that if you want to get into flight games but you're not sure if you want to, then buy this and try it out. If you like flight sims you will want to upgrade within a month.

The flight stick works although configuring it and getting it to work with Windows 7 was a HUGE task!!! Overall it works although there are still a few things that just won't configure properly to be played with XPlane 10.I wouldn't recommend this stick unless you were being very conscious of not spending too much money on a Flight Stick. The build quality leaves a lot to be desired as well and feels as if it will wear out very quickly with regular use.

This is my first HOTAS controller so I can honestly say it is the best flight stick controller I've ever owned. I have used other ones before, don't know what models though. It has a good weight to it, the base doesn't lift when you move the throttle or stick, especially if you connect the bases together. This plug-and-play controller is easy to use, the buttons are all placed intuitively and are easy to locate by touch, and response is very good. This control is not ambidextrous, it is clearly contoured and buttons placed for left hand throttle, right hand stick. The throttle and stick can either be connected to save space and give greater stability, or can be separated (still connected by a cord) about two feet apart, plenty for a realistic cockpit feel.The throttle control has a detent to indicate when it is centered, and six buttons with a rocker. It is contoured very well for the left hand. All controls are easily accessed without changing grip, and with a bit of practice you can actually press many combinations of buttons simultaneously. The rocker can be used either as a rudder, or as a "slide/strafe" function for games that support such movement.The flight stick has four buttons and a directional cone, which is usually used to look around or select weapons. As with the throttle, all buttons are well placed. The stick does have an edge of higher resistance in every direction, around the halfway point between center and the directional limit, probably where the cone lifts fully out of the base. It takes a bit of getting used to but it's not a deal breaker. The "zero" area (where moving the stick has no effect) is small, but when moving the stick from one side to the other (say, left to right across the center) the stick will, for lack of a better word, "stick" slightly in the center as you travel across it, but again, it just takes a bit of practice to move smoothly across it.The only gripe I have is minor, and I would buy this product even if I had known in advance: The directional cone on top of the joystick is not an analog button (force-sensitive) as I thought it would be, it clicks on or off in all eight directions. It can make looking around or aiming during flight a bit difficult, depending on the control setup for your game, since it moves to the extreme of the button function with no hesitation.I used the mapping function, just to try it, but I found that I liked the default setup best. You can swap the functions of any buttons you wish, and programming is easy. For games that involve quick transitions between foot and flight combat, you can easily activate/deactivate your custom setup with a touch of a button located on the right side of the control stick's base. Be careful not to hit the "mapping" button by accident though, it can lead to a frustrating mid-combat reprogramming of your controls.Overall highly recommended, unless you're one of those gaming addicts that's gotta have the best thing out there. The price of this controller is far lower than its quality.

I'm a casual jet and helicopter pilot in Battlefield 3, and for such a player and at the price, this product an excellent solution.Upsides:Number and layout of buttons (some are hard to reach, but throwing those out entirely, there are still plenty to go around). I particularly like that some of the "good" buttons are easy to hit quickly, while others are hard to hit accidentally (while still being easily reachable).Throttle stick. I would never have guessed how much of a difference it makes, having a whole hand on the throttle instead of pinching it with two fingers. Besides being able to mount buttons under multiple fingers on your left hand, you have much more control over the throttle itself.Stability. Because of the two hand layout, I've never rocked this stick, even while violently throwing both sticks around at once.Downsides:Construction. Made of fairly cheap plastic, this is going to wear out after a while. It's already feeling a bit shaky, after less than a month of ownership. On the other hand, I wasn't expecting great things from a device at this price.Support. No software to go with this peripheral (I've been spoiled by Logitech products, I suppose).Deadzone. As others have noted, this joystick has a massive deadzone by default. If you're playing Battlefield 3, there's a workaround that involves editing a game .txt file, and I suppose other applications will have similar solutions. At that point, though, why can't we just adjust it on the joystick itself?Of note (I feel): while some people complain of the halfway stop in the throttle stick, I find myself not even noticing it. Caveat: Battlefield 3 isn't designed with pilots in mind (we're six players out of sixty four, generally), so applications with more attention paid to air maneuvers might be less forgiving of this budget joystick.

This joystick is awesome. It was definitly worth the 50 bucks. I really like thrustmaster joysticks the last one I got I still have and it still works even thoe its like 7 or 8 years old.

Great joystick for FSX and other games. Very well built and simple to setup and use. Great handling and response and a good price. Recommend this joystick. Has many good features and sensitivity adjustments.
