My budget was limited, so after shopping around I settled for this HOTAS.it's very sturdy, a bit heavy in weight and appearance, but won't fall off your desk.Lots of buttons to program, 13 in total, two more if you use the red LED with FS2004.Manual is skimpy, but enough to figure out the button assignments, which you can re-assign to whatever suits you best.I couldn't get the rocker switch on the throttle unit to be assigned to anything except the rudder, which is what it controls. I prefer the twist action on the stick for rudder control. I asked Saitek help if I could assign the rocker to other jobs, such as spoilers or panel views, but they couldn't help me on that. No big deal. It's fine as is.You can adjust joystick tension to your needs. Buttons are well placed. Stick is very comfortable to play with.The throttle moves nice and tight, with a detente in mid-range. I would have preferred no detente, just a smooth motion forward and back. Maybe that's a feature useful for other games.Overall a good HOTAS, dependable, with a meat and potatoes sturdiness. Nice design.

I wanted to play Flight Simulator X with a decent joystick with a throttle attached. I saw this one and the price and thought I would give it a try. I could not be more disappointed. The throttle was the main reason I bought this thing and it doesn't even work. The joystick works fine but the throttle is DOA so I gave it two stars. Saitek has a pretty good reputation and I had originally wanted the X52 Flight Control System. I will just have to work with my budget and get it somewhere down the line.

I had one of the old thrustmasters for years until the X52 came alone, The most anyone lasted was one year.This thrustmaster I got be cause I did not like the cost of the x52, so I saw the new thrustmaster at a fantastic.When I got It worked with no drive on windows 7 x64. this is a fantastic flight stick has made changes over and allfor the good. If you don't want to Pay over $100.00 for a joy stick that works better than the expensive one for around$34.00, you will be supprised all the money you have spent for nothing better than this. It will last for years and years.The best of the best, for 34 bucks? Take a chance and buy it and see how great it is. the only thing that would is more backlighting at night but its no big deal.horas1

This is a must have for flight enthusist's and gamers. While you could get better quality with something like the Saitek X52(Pro). It does have about a ten degree deadzone on the joystick so extremely slight movements won't affect anything. It's still over all a good joystick with a nice HOTAS feature(full sized seperatable throttle) with tool included. So if your on a budget this is the best you can get for the price!

I bought this flight stick to use with HAWX 2. It worked perfectly. I enjoy the fact that the throttle can be attached or removed from the flight stick. I keep it attached and put it in my lap when playing. It makes flight sims so much fun to play. I also like the fact that I can use it with my PS3. Great product!

The only games I have used this on so far are HAWX 1 and 2 on the PS3. It works really well. The HAWX games already come with a setting for the joystick so all of the buttons work accordingly and make sense. This makes the games a lot more fun to play in my opinion. I don't really have any complaints about the joystick itself, however most of the PS3 games arent going to have any sort of intricate options regarding customization as you would find on the PS3 games..such as adjusting dead zone sensitivity and what not. You can however plug it into the computer and customize your button mappings and save multiple settings for different games. All in all this is a great addition to flight games.

I'm a newbie gamer and have only used this this thing a few times, but I can say that it is well built and functions flawlessly as far as I can tell. It's a lot bigger than I was expecting.I can think of two negatives, both minor and both having to do with whether you use it separately or fastened together.Maybe it's because I'm a novice, but when I use each part separately I tend to tip them and they move around. I guess I have to learn to calm down and not use so much pressure.You can also attach the two pieces as shown in the picture which gives it more stability, which I like, but there is no lock. You just insert a tab into a slot and it's kind of a pain. If you get too excited (see above) or if you want to pick them up and move them you have to be careful or they come apart easily and it's a pain to reattach them quickly. The cable connecting the two pieces that's coiled up on the bottom unwinds and gets in the way. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for this.All in all I'm happy with the purchase especially for the money and recommend it.

Wow. All this and for a low price? Don't know how they do it, but this is the best flight stick out there. Everything you could hope for in a solid package. Do not miss out on this one. Incredible.

The controller is amazing, works great & helps a lot with flight games (IL-2, Hawx ECT). I do have to switch it to controller 1 every time it seems I start a game (very minor thing). Also after a couple months of using this controller it seems after an hour or two of use it starts acting weird - game randomly stops recognizing controller until I unplug it & plug it back in a few times, or game will start reading movements that were not made on the controller, now this being said it has happened mainly on IL-2, sometimes in Hawx, so I cannot be sure this is the controllers fault, it may have something to do with the PS3 or games, also it could just be the one defective controller but I did think it was worth mentioning.

This is the best joystick I've owned...especially for the PS3.Works like a charm w/ IL-2 Sturmovik (the best out there) Hawx and the new Apache Air Assault. Made well and sturdy.

This review is for the trottle/joystick, Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X: The instructions included in the box are confusing and some games/computer are not able to recognize the Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X. After a few trys at programing it, I got so frustrated I no longer use it. THAT was a waste of money !!!!!!!!

Many Flight Simulator programs are very complex and require controllers such as the Thrustmaster to be programmed. Other more complex (and expensive)controllers compound the process of programming. The Thrustmaster is simple to program, as a matter of fact, it comes out of the box already programmed for basic actions. When I get frustrated trying to use complex controllers, I just unplug them and go back to the old reliable Thrustmaster. Gives pleasure to those of us who are not so totally immersed in complex programming. After all, the objective is to enjoy the experience, is it not?

I've used it for a month now with FlightGear (a serious non-combat PC flight simulator).The good:* It has enough buttons and axes for most needs. No matter what you buy, you'll always have to use the keyboard/mouse for some operations such as starting engines, lights, radio. The rocker built into the throttle may be mapped to the rudder if you don't like to rotate the stick.* It's also comfortable to the hand.THE BAD:* Large dead zone. Explanation: The "dead zone" or "dead band" is the small range of motion around the center position where the joystick reports no change. It makes it easier to fly level without holding the stick, but for small corrections (e.g., to stay aligned with the runway when landing) you'll have to swing across that zone. Games (e.g. HAWX) help with this by averaging and filtering your input, but with flight sims you'll overcorrect all the time and you'll hate it.* You may experience some "sticky" friction from time to time, causing jerky motion.I guess you get what you pay for :)

We bought this for our 13 year old to use with Flight Simulator 2004. It really work well and has given him hours of fun virtually flying. It seems to be well made and was easy to set up and install on his computer. Recommended.

Review BY: Gary G. Brown: This stick and throttle combo is about 12" L x 6" W. It has plenty of buttons to customize functionality. The throttle and stick can be seperated or screwed together. I've had no problems using it with MicroSoft Flight Sim X. It has non-slip tabs on the bottom which I like.

I had this joystick for a couple of weeks now.It has all the main functions you want from a good joystick and it feels solid in the hands. For the price you pay (in the $20-$30 range), I think it's exactly what you expect to get: a sound joystick with a good, confortable and smooth throttle. I'm really happy with it and I recommend it to people who are not "game-freak" looking for something fancier or more hard core.

This flight stick was exactly what I was looking for and a a fantastic price! Other sites had is for as much at $60.00, I paid $21.00 with shipping! Arrived on time and brand new. Easy to install on PS3 and works great. you can even switch between controllers in game so if you are using the standard controller for walking and then need to fly you simply grab the stick and start flying.

This is a great flight stick. I use it for FSX and Aces High. If you are like me and are always looking to get a good quality product for the least money and read endless reviews. Stop. For a budget priced stick it does everything.

I purchased the Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X to pilot my MS Flight Simulator X Gold Edition & it works great! After reading reviews on other products I settled on this & I concur with all the other positive reviews. I am a 72 year old grandpa with an old pilots license which I haven't used in 20 years. I use it on my new high powered laptop & separate the thruster & joy stick on each side of the laptop on a simple platform just high enough for my legs to go under & it works very functionally.

When using this Thrustmaster product w/ Flightsim one immediately discovers that the throttle and joystick are not fine precision instruments. The lack of precise control takes away from enjoying the game. To bad. It looks good.Just doesn't perform to my expectations.

The Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas is superb. The problem that many of us are having with Windows XP is the loss of the MS programmable software. It doesn't work in xp. We can't save game profiles for quick recall. That just stinks. Shame on you Microsoft! MANY OF OUR OLD WIN98 GAMES WON'T RUN, AND THOSE THAT DO HAVE NO WAY TO SET UP THE CONTROLLER FOR THEM. If your flight sim does not have an ingame programming feature, you're sunk. Many of our old analogue controls don't work well if at all in XP. Microsoft seems to have dropped the flight sim gamers. BUT FLIGHT SIM COMBAT GAMES ROCK! AND I'M 60 YEARS OLD, BEEN PLAYING THEM FOR YEARS. Two great old companies remain to rescue us. Thrustmaster and CH. Their equipment is great, Expensive, but great. Their programming features keep them alive for new and older games. Applause! My quest for a programmable usb joystick and throttle combination for XP led me to the super affordable T-Flight Hotas USB Controller. AT $45 verses $200 plus for the COUGAR OR THE CH hotas setups, it is a steal. It is solid, heavy, and it configures automatically in XP with no drivers needed. It calibrates and programs easily and it feels great in gameplay. It even has the twist rudder I got used to with the old MS Precision Pro. Did I say it has an adjustable resistence to the joystick that you can set to your preference? Excellent detail! The detachable feature provides separation for the Throttle and Joystick - but we like it joined together just fine. We have owned the MS Precision Pro, Force feedback, Ch flightstick and pedals, Suncom Talon 15e, and some others out there as well and have played most of the flight sims out there. The T-Flight Hotas is the best buy for XP gamers. I can't speak to Vista, other than I hate it. But for XP Pro this is THE CONTROLLER TO OWN FOR GAMING! 5 STARS THRUSTMASTER! The throttle of the T-flight makes flying sims more fun than a slider on the base of a joystick. The 12 programmable buttons are awesome, well placed, and relieve a lot of keyboard concern. At this price I can add USB rudder pedals and have the whole enchilada for less than the price of a fighterstick and hotas.

Received this stick and immediately tightened the screws on the bottom to connect the two pieces. This thing is a very nice stick. I popped on Heroes Over Europe for the PS3 and plugged the flight stick into the usb slot and it started working immediately.Coming from using just a regular PS3 controller to a flight stick it was very touchy and hard to get used to. After a while of playing I started to get used to it. I love this thing, I had a Saitek I used for my PC before this one and it totally replaced it (the Saitek had no throttle).Overall I say this item is a definite buy. I haven't used it with any of my other flying games yet but I am sure it will be just as enjoyable. The thing even has the PS3 icons on the buttons to show what to push and is pretty dumb proof. Switch right on the front to go from PC to PS3 is a awesome as well. Only downside is I wish the USB cord was a little longer, but I will just have to buy a extender for it so I can actually sit farther back and put it on my table.

Great joystick at a very good price but the manual is poorley written with alot of information left out. It's left up to you to figure out. The SE and SC buttons are not explained fully only referred to as number 12 and ???. Mapping and preset buttons are touched on lightly.I use it on my PC with Windows XP and am playing Wings of Prey. Until I can get the mapping and preset buttons figured out I have to re-enter all my settings every time I start a new game. That sucks.
