Great sound, took awhile to figure out all the adjustments, no issues with pass thru, pass thru works even if receiver is off. Now I just need new speakers.

I am extremely displeased with SONY and their products. I have a high end projector and this receiver will not work with it. Customer Service told me that this receiver along with a SONY Blu-Ray Player is not compatible with my Sharp projector. Says this receiver will only display in 1080P, so be warned that anything that isnt higher resolution than that will not be compatible. Poor customer service, not really sorry. I have been through the entire product description on this site and SONYs and nowhere does it state that your resolution has to be the higher end HD. My projector displays up to 1080i.
Its also very upsetting that I cannot talk to someone who speaks English. And that I have wasted my time and money on their products. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I upgraded from an older sony 5.1 15yrs.old to this model a great step up! with a whole lot more power,and clearer sound.I have plans in the near future to add the extra speakers to get the 7.2 surround. The price was great also.I paid more for the older unit 15yrs.ago than the new model.Would recomend this receiver to anyone who would like a step up from 5.1.Easy to set up.

У меня был Сони да 333ES уже более 15 лет, что служил мне хорошо. CNET и другие бредили 1050, так что я сделал решающий шаг. Я был очень впечатлен тем, как легко он интегрируется с моим Sony SXRD телевизором и мобильными устройствами. Функция AirPlay работает безотказно, когда я запускаю мое приложение на XM радио. Мой МК ораторы никогда не звучал лучше. Вы не будете разочарованы.

I just bought this one to replace the sony strdh 540, for some reason the 5.2 set up i have sounds louder than before maybe is because of the extra juice this one has. i love it and its very easy to use. i bought it here on amazon on sale for 201.99$, i thought that i was going to get a receiver made on 2013 or early 2014 but for my surprise it has a sticker on its back that said that it was made on January 1 2015, any way, the sound is excellent and its very easy to use, i have paired it with the pioneers andrew jones second edition speakers with an extra sw for a total of 5.2 ch.

So far so good. Haven't bought a receiver in a long time. Wanted one with decent power, several HDMI ports, NO INTERNET/NETWORK connectivity, and most importantly, front Bi-Amp capability. Other little nice detail is that all speaker connects are binding post. About the only one on the market that has all of these features and is affordable. (I actually can't figure out Sony's rationale with their feature segmenting... it seems that they arbitrarily chose to include features up and down the line-up.) Basically offered everything I wanted and nothing I didn't.
So far it's driving a pair of Polk Monitor 70s (series II) in bi-amp mode. Sounds great to me. I can't really comment on power as I'm shy about cranking it up in my smallish apartment, but so far so good. I also really like the On Screen menu feature. I guess this might be fairly common now, but it's nice.

Действительно хорошо звучащий усилитель. У меня была Ямаха, который был очень яркий и агрессивный, который является большим для некоторых фильмов. У меня тоже был Денон, который более мягкий насыщенный звук, который хорош для музыки. Мне нравится этот усилитель, хотя потому что он лежит где-то посередине. Его мощный и агрессивный, где он должен быть и мягким и нежным, где это не нужно. Отличный интерфейс и очень проста в использовании. Удивительные значение для денег. Могли бы сделать с больше HDMI разъемов, но если честно у меня есть сумасшедшее количество гаджетов.<БР />

Что многие амп
Мой последний усилитель у меня уже более 7 лет и это был Sony DA2400ES я была очень счастлива с ним, но он не мог сделать 3Д пройти. Так я думал, что это о времени я получил новый усилитель, так что я решил пойти с стр-DN1050 из коробки легко установить. Звук просто находится вне этого мира !<БР />
также картинка выглядит намного четче, чем раньше, и это не 4К, или все высококлассные ! Функция AirPlay работает как сон !<БР />
также имеет пропуск через HDMI через так сказать, как вы мне ваш кабель коробка пройдя через это, когда усилитель выключен, он по-прежнему проходить через изображение и звук !<бр /><бр />моя единственная критика с помощью AirPlay стороны, что было бы неплохо, если бы это было что-то вроде сетевого проснуться, поэтому вам не придется мощность усилителя до того, как ты использовал ротацию, но это то, что я могу жить с Лол !<БР />

У меня ПОА-3 подключен к моей компании Shure SE846 через Луна аудио-Серебряный дракон на заказ (симметричный) кабель<.бр /><бр />а я уж было почти собрался покупать Аккорд Уго по почти двойной цене!<бр /><бр />улучшение по сравнению с Пха-2-это удивительный и абсолютный лучший звук, который я когда-либо слышал. Такое сочетание выглядит как на самом деле у меня большие динамики почему-то насаждается в моей голове. Корпорации Sony и компании Shure вывести абсолютное лучшее друг от друга.<БР />

This is my third Sony receiver and while there are some quirks, I am overall very pleased. Sound quality is excellent once you read the manual. I use connected banana clips for all my speakers, and it seems that Sony spaced out the distance from the red to the black a little more than what is standard. The banana clips do connect, but the connections on the receiver do bend in slightly to make it work. I did use the microphone to do an initial setup but then needed to go into the menus and tweak some things. First of all it set my speakers to Large. I have a 7.2 DefTech Mythos setup with 2x 8" Subwoofers, so I had to go into the config and change my speakers to Small. It also set the +db ratings for my rear and side surrounds way too high, so I needed to move those down, and move my center channel up. But a lot of that is personal preference. Also, even though I am running 2x subs and they are slightly different (both in distance away from the listener and power rating and construction) there seems to just be a master subwoofer setting, so plan on tweaking your subs individually to make the most of your setup. Another quirk is that the receiver will kind of detect what AV source is active and set it to that, so there were times I would be in the process of turning on the TV, Blu Ray and receiver and it would flip off the AV source I actually wanted because it detected something else. Which means I had to hit the Blu Ray button on the remote, not the end of the world. It did take me an evening of reading the manual to figure out some of the sound fields. By default mine started in 2ch, and it took me a while to figure out what the differences were and what I wanted, but once I did the sound field was outstanding.
The DH740 is quite a bit more powerful than my older Sony STR DG 820. Since I no longer had a requirement for so many stereo, composite and component inputs, it made the back of the receiver nice and clean. 3D pass through works as I would have anticipated, I did test some 3D movies just to verify, but overall I am not a big fan of 3D, that was more of a checkbox thing. I do not have a 4K TV, so that will have to remain untested. I will say the change from 1x 8" sub to having 2x 8" subs was amazing. I always felt that my low frequencies seemed to be coming from a direction, specifically the subwoofer that was to the right front of my media stand. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't full. Adding the second sub to the back left of the room now fills my room with that low frequency, and gives it a more "all around" feeling, instead of a "shooting out from the front of the room" feeling. My DefTech Mythos speakers do seem to sound a bit better, I think they benefited from the increased power. It took me a little while to decipher what the manual was trying to tell me, how to work my way through the menu system, and how to get the blasted EZ Setup to work right. But it was worth it. Especially at this price point, I am very pleased, despite the few quirks.

The sound is great and it is super easy to set up but mine has weird HDMI cut out problems. Randomly it will just drop the HDMI signal from the receiver to the TV. Tested on my computer monitor and it also does the same thing. Kinda bummer but I'm not sure it is worth the like $60-80 bucks to ship it in for warranty repair.
*UPDATE* This is now a one star review. Called sony and got no help they told me replace the HDMI cable, try a different device. After being transferred around and hung up on over and over I am giving up. TERRIBLE customer service over 2 hours spent and they wouldn't help in anyway even though this is still under warranty.

Great receiver but don't understand how to set it up.

So I have now had the receiver for just over a week, and have finally figured out how to use it for the most part. I also purchased the ss~cr3000 speaker package which comes with the ss-cr3000 center, b1000 bookshelf, ss-cr3000 surround, to sf-5000 floor standing fronts, and the scr9 - 10" subwoofer.
All Sony and all bad to the bone! Was a little frustrated at first trying to figure out how to set up the amp, but now that that's done I am thoroughly pleased and am upgrading to 5 stars! (The sub is terrible though )

Great price for 7.2 sound. 145w per ch.
This amp sounds pretty good and has more than enough power.
I have the Sony SS-B3000 Bookshelf Speakers as my fronts, the Sony SS-B1000 5-1/4-Inch Bookshelf Speakers as my side fills, the Sony SS-CR3000 as my center and rear fill speakers and 3) Sony SA-W3000/Z active 12" subs... that makes it a 7.3 actually!
The sound is incredibly clean with plenty of juice.
The OSD (on screen display) is a cool feature. Once your TV is connected to the amp, use the included remote and access the TV display to setup your system. Works flawlessly and is very simple to understand.
The one issue that puzzled me for a couple days was the speaker setup selection. The options are 3/4.2, 3/4, 5/2.2, 5/2, etc. Nowhere was 7.2 listed. Nowhere in the manual is this even dealt with. All of the sudden late one evening listening to Morphine it hit me. VOILA... 3/4.2 was 7.2... 3 fronts: l/c/r, 4 rears: ls, lr, rr, rs and, of course, the subs. After that obstacle was overcome all else was a breeze.
I used the calibration mic and auto tuned the speakers. Cool Feature. The software figures out speaker distance from the mic down to the inch! Nice to know. Now I can set my speaker distance up super accurately!
Next I use the remote/OSD to manually adjust volume levels, treble and bass and crossover points. Love It!
All in all, it took me a few days of listening and playing around with it to really decide how I wanted to tweak the whole system. Amazing. Manually setting it all up took it to a whole nother level.
And TV/movie listening with the 3 subs set in opposing corners of the room, individual levels set at around 40% and amp turned up to between 30 and 40%, sitting on the couch feels like an earthquake when the LFE are used during broadcast. The 20Hz of the subs is more felt than heard and wow, it's almost scary!
My room is 20' x 24' with a 13' vaulted ceiling. Not a small room.
Seriously, this amp is a killer and the total system is so BA I can't accurately describe how happy I am with it.

I wanted to replace a 10 year old Panasonic receiver because of a developing hum. Not wanting to break the bank, I was looking for an affordable receiver and so started to read reviews. This was rated very high on every review that I read. The sound is amazing! I hear things, particularly bass when watching movies, that I never heard in my old receiver. Hookup was easy....although I never bothered to calibrate the speaker levels. They sound fine the way they are.
For the money, I can't see how anyone could go wrong buying this. I am thrilled with it and would absolutely recommend it to anybody looking for fabulous sound in an affordable package.

I love this receiver. Ample power and the low price point make this ideal for someone who is dreaming about and Onkyo or Denon but doesn't have $600+ to allocate for the receiver.

Сони отличный во имя большей производительности.
действительно очень большой усилитель. я ставлю все через усилитель.звук и производительность действительно astoundjng.у меня есть десять динамиков и при просмотре фильмов лучше чем в кинотеатре.очень универсальный усилитель.если вы хотите, чтобы звук в лучшем это.

Amazing sound and picture quality, although it doesn't have internet,,, who cares, the Sony Blu-ray player has all the streaming services I need, which most Blu-ray players now include, I am knocked out by the sound this gem produces, it may help that the sound comes through the legendary DCM Time Windows. Set up was a snap, all in all, I am extremely happy with the purchase.

работает но не совсем как рекламируется в отношении зон, возможно, моя вина, но зона подразумевает отдельное управление, которое сбивает с толку с этим продуктом. не самый простой инструкции по установке и нет подробное руководство, чтобы обратиться к.......так что мои предположения относительно зоны контроля были неправы...если вы хотите, 7.1 колонки и затем выбираемый контроль за ...этой модели не представляется, что ответ полностью не month14 и не смогла пройти видео вообще не рекомендуется

Fantastic product. Inexpensive and really has great sound. I hooked this up to my 7.2 in ceiling speaker system. Worked perfectly right out of the box.
PROS: Easy set up, lots of power, 7.2 (I don't have the subwoofer hooked up yet so cannot comment on this feature). Looks great, nice interface. Great, clean sound.
CONS: You need to get the volume into the 30s to get sound but there is plenty of headroom. Connections for speakers in the back are a bit tight, you will need a flashlight and patience

Basic receiver with excellent sound. Ordered as a replacement to a 10 year old Sony receiver that stopped working. May be a bit confusing for a novice - but with a little practice you will be up and running in a few hours booming theatre quality sound.
Really enjoying listening to music in my family room with this gorgeous component.

I needed a new a/v receiver after my Onkyo's output section died on me suddenly after only two years. A major disappointment. However this Sony Receiver was a great value and it has all of the necessary features I wanted and needed except phono input, but most don't these days anyway. Sound is very good and everything works as it should. It does have a few idiosyncrasies but I have no complaints thus far. Sony has always made good audio components and this one is very good. It is a good replacement for the Onkyo.

Great receiver, replaced my dated Yamaha top end unit. I was in audio video business for 20 yrs, always used top end equipment including the Yamaha I just replaced. The old unit would not decode the new DD-HD or DTS HD formats which all new blu rays are encoded with, the Sony decodes all my blu ray movies in full digital surround, processes all formats including passing 3D signal very well, I am impressed with sound quality and ease of set up. On screen display and auto calibration had me setup and playing movies in about 20 minutes. Incredibly good deal, would gladly buy it again.

This receiver works well with the items connected (Playstation, Tivo mini) with good integration with my Vizio TV. The only glitch that I have is getting the sound output to come on automatically with turning on the TV. It will initially come on then turn off. I have to hit the input button on the Sony remote and then no problems. I am not sure if it's a TV or receiver issue. Still working on that. The receiver itself is otherwise easy to set up and the sound is great out of my surround sound speakers.
