I love the RX100M2! I can make a 8 paragraph long review, but to make it short here is my review.The camera has a 20megapixel ExmorR 1 inch sensor capable of great low-light shots. It has an ISO sensibility up to 12,800. But I feel more comfortable shooting at 64,000 although some images don't have lots visible noise. The camera has lots of modes, like: Manual, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Program, Full Intelligent Auto, Superior Intelligent Auto, Memory Recal, Movie (with Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority and fully Manual Mode). It has a 4x optical zoom and digital zoom that I don't like because its basically cropping the sensor to get to the zoom range. Images are supperior quality that other compact cameras. By the price and features this camera is not a simple Point and Shoot, its a Pro-Point and Shoot. If you want a simpler camera that is even cheaper, the Canon S100, S120 will do the job.Into the Pros and Cons:Pros:-Compact form factor, solid construction-Supports high capacity cards, up to 128GB or 256GB-Flash can be tilted to bounce off surfaces, like walls or ceilings.-Has Carl Zeiss Glass,-f/1.8 aperture when fully wide and f/3.5 when fully zoomed in.- The ring on the lens can be set to do multiple functions, like zoom, focus, shutter and aperture.-The tiltable screen allows for ackward angle shots.-The WiFi and NFC allows basically all phones to connect and control the camera, only in Auto or Auto Movie Mode no manual controls.-Battery lasts for about 320shots in my experience.-High ISO without high noise.-HotshoeCons:-Zoom is sometimes not sufficient to shoot far objects-When changing mode a little instruccional menu appears and you have to press the enter button to dissmiss.-The tiltable screen is a faiulre point, it can fail over time.

Tis camera fits my lifestyle. I love taking good pictures, while still hving a small point-and-shoot camera that is easy to carry. Every few years, I treat myself to the best new point-and-shoot, and this was it. The digital technology is still evolving so fast, that you will have to read the reviews to see if it is still the best. It is definitely better than the nice camera on my Galaxy S5, and worth the hassle of an extra gadget when my photos can be planned. It is better than the really nice Canon point-and-shoot that I bought a few years ago.

I bought this camera prior to a trip to Switzerland for some hiking. Closing in on 70 and having grown up with cameras with viewfinders, I wanted a camera with a viewfinder, wireless connectivity, and a large sensor. This camera fit the bill for me and I was delighted with its performance. At one point I accidentally dropped it on a concrete floor and was amazed that everything continued to work. The way the viewfinder works is a cumbersome, but since almost all my shots are landscapes, it didn't matter that it takes an extra few seconds to set it up. The wireless connectivity has worked seamlessly though, like others, I found out the hard way that videos don't download as easily. But overall, I'm very happy with the camera and with the quality of the photographs considering I'm not even in the ballpark for being considered a serious photographer

I love this camera. I initially bought the original edition earlier this year, and then realized the newer one has more options that I missed on the earlier one. So I sold the other one and bought this one.

The image quality with this camera is incredible. 13x19" prints look wonderful and the high quality images allow for cropped images that retain their sharpness (within reasonable limits, however).

This camera is not adequate for outdoor with higher air humidity as fog, also morning fog, snow, rain, countries as Caribien, South east asia, Florida a.s.o. where the humidity can be more than 85%. With my RX100M2 a half year old, we were in the Caribien and after 1 week the camera could not read the SD-Card anymore. With every SD Card it Shows the error message. SD Card not readable, please insert new. Back at home I sent the camera to the Sony Service and get it back not repaired 2 weeks later with the comment: "Damage caused by water" and this is not included in the guarantee. The repair cost would be higher than the cost of the camera. It is an ecomomic total loss. The camera was never in contact directly with water. After 1 week in the caribien it died because of higher humidity during a tour in the mountains. Now I've opened the camera and there was really a bit of corrision visible, mostly at small srews where different metals come together. The RX100 series is not usable for outdoor activities. I'm also disappointed from Sony Service, I'l never buy anything from Sony.

5 stars because this small camera is the best in its class (DP Review gives it their coveted Gold Award). This camera will NOT replace a high quality DSLR camera, but then again, you cannot put a high quality DSLR in your pocket. The lens is fast for this class of camera, and the EVF makes the camera eminently useable ... composing your photo holding a compact camera at arms-length to see the rear LCD screen in distracting sunlight glare gets old really fast. This Sony has a hidden attraction: putting the camera into Manual mode allows you to create a new exposure mode: a "Shutter-Aperture-Priority" mode a-la-Pentax, which can come in handy - even my Canon DSLR can't to THAT. If you like to hike with your compact camera, consider taking along a monopod that can double as a hiking stick. The increased stability provided with the monopod can make your pix just a tad more crisp. This camera does not have a touch-sensitive screen but I don't really need that. Verdict: Quality photographs from a "pocketable", well-built camera. Well done Sony.

The RX100 series of cameras are just fantastic. I have a Canon T4i but for most day to day shooting I go for the sony. This thing fits nicely in a pocket and takes great shots. Some of my best shots and almost every unplanned great shot has come from this camera. Between the very good RAW capture, manual controls, and F1.8 (when zoomed all the way out), this is a truly great portable camera. I'm not saying this is better than a good SLR but a good SLR doesn't fit in your pocket. At the same time for most day to day use this will get the job done and done very well.

This case is a shoddy piece of Chinese manufacture with little attention to detail. It is too large for any of the RX100 series cameras and not only that the screw thread which attaches to the bottom of the camera was malformed. Rather than waste an inordinate amount of time arrange to send this back and get a replacement, I took a small metal-working file and made the thread good. You get what you pay for, and this case is simply rubbish.

POOR QUALITY it came in the mail today I unsnapped the bottom and the snap broke off. I sent it back for a refund I have a RX100iii
I can't even tell ya if it fit since it broke in my hands out of the box.. Don't try to save money like me.... Spend the money and by a SONY case

I have owned this camera for a week or so, and find that the pictures I have taken come out in sharp focus, with excellent metering. I think the camera works very well as an advanced, big sensor and fast lens point and shoot.

A few things to watch out for... the battery door is somewhat flimsy and will not tolerate too much rough handling. Amazing how every single camera manufacturer competes to build the thinnest door possible. The rotary dial controlling most functions appears to be OK, but is probably built to last around 3 years of heavy use and no more. The viewfinder is a great touch but here again, even though it is well built, it appears quite delicate and unlikely to tolerate rough handling. The back screen does not click back into place when you're done tilting it. I would have liked to see it click back and not just depend on friction to hold it in place. Not sure if frequent use will make the whole thing loose.

Bottom line, great and expensive camera, you gotta treat it gently.

I bought this camera to go on a trip to New York City. As an avid user of DSLRs in the past, I was tired of walking around with a 5 lb weight around my neck while trying to enjoy the sights. I have to say that the size and quality of this camera allows it to be part of my everyday routine. Keys, Cellphone, Camera, Wallet... everything fits in my pocket and is now a necessity before leaving the house. For my trip and during my normal routine, I take many more photos than usual resulting in many more great photos that would have never been taken without it. No, it is not as good of an image as a DSLR, but it is dramatically better than your usual point and shoot. I am satisfied with the quality of the 20 Megapixel images and the response time of the photos. The wide aperture makes fantastic night shots which were impressive for my NYC fireworks display.

All in all, there is one major reason for giving this 5 stars... it is a fantastic (almost DSLR quality) camera that you can fit in your pocket.

I use this on ski tours, hikes, and general traveling. Has all customizations but pictures mostly come out great with default settings. E.g. the exposure in snow is usually correct.

I bought this for my Mk1 RX100. As described by a previous Mk2 reviewer, this case is a good fit for these cameras, but easy to get in and out, and should give good protection. The clever use of Velcro is a plus feature on both the lid and the belt loop.

You wouldn't believe this until you see the results for yourself. I don't bring my DSLR (SONY A55) anymore. One thing I miss is GPS information. I'm trying to brainwash myself that GPS is not a big issue as long as I can recall where I took pictures.

You -almost - MUST buy "Sony AGR2 Attachment Grip (Black)", I guess. They go together so well.

This is a great camera so far but the pop up flash seems so fragile. Word of warning the glass on the LCD viewfinder is VERY SOFT it scratches very easily make sure to get a protective layer on top of it as soon as you get it unboxed! I have carried my iphone in my purser for months and it does not have a scratch on it. However after one day of being in my purse (without keys) it is all scratched up. (By the way if you are thinking I should have bought a case I did but ADORAMA cameras did not send it to me and still hasn't 10 days later. I am going to have to buy in a box and mortar store) I would rate it 5 stars because the pics are amazing but for so much money I am worried it will break soon. Plus I am a little peeved that someone in the camera forum says that if you call sony and ask about the camera and express doubt they will offer you a 125$ accessory bonus if you buy the camera then. I would have liked free 125$ worth of accessories!(

I have a Sony A7S with many zeiss lenses, and this thing takes photos you can confuse for a $6000 camera / lens pairing. Best point and shoot ever made. Learn how to use it by getting the Gary Fong tutorial on how to unlock an A6000 or A7S. If you want to get into photography skip this and get an A6000 with a Zeiss FE 55mm 1.8.

I've owned the Mark I and Mark II. This is an expensive but compelling upgrade. If you are considering this camera I would really only look at the Mark I (Because it's small and cheap) or the Mark III. The Mark III is in a different league than the other models. It does great video with a modern codec, has a built in ND and a view finder, all super helpful when shooting video. For most uses I think the faster 24-70 equivalent lens will be more practical. The 24mm is much better for landscapes and gives you just enough for portraits. it's amazing what a difference that 4mm makes. Although the Mark III is technically bigger than the Mark II I have them both side by side and in practical use it's not noticeable at all. The removal of the hotshoe also streamlines that camera quite a bit. The Mark I is far more pocketable and if you're a casual shooter that wants a great camera that is super portable it might be a better choice. If you're an enthusiast or pro that wants the best of all worlds though I think the Mark III is simply without peer.

Really excellent camera. Picture quality is really great. The only gripe that I have is that I cannot get the wi-fi to work properly. I just can't work out how to keep it connected to my phone. It keeps telling me that the "connection is cancelled because the internet connection is too slow". I am quite computer literate and have gone through the manual and the forums to no avail. I have gone back to using the "Eye Fi" card from an old camera. The Eye Fi card works perfectly and does exactly what I want it to do.
If I could solve the wi-fi issue then i would recommend the camera 100% but at the moment I am disappointed at the way the wi-fi does not work for me.

Doesn't fit the rd100 miii.....Will be sending back. Pretty annoying but thankfully I have enough time before my holiday to find one that does.

I have had still cameras for 60 years, video since 1968. This little gem lives in my fanny pack with keys, wallet and spare glasses. It does everything I want, less a polarizer. It is NOT waterproof, and the finder and flash are not robust. I love it as much as my Alpha99.

PLEASE READ - This camera stopped working 8 months after purchase. It was sent in under warranty. Sony says it was damaged and voided the warranty. As an avid amateur photographer who has had a string of cameras without any problems I say that's BS. After a month of haggling the best Sony will do is replace the camera for $279. I will sell new on on eBay and buy a camera from a company that stands behind their product. WHAT GOOD IS A CAMERA IF THE COMPANY DOESN'T STAND BEHIND IT ???

Bought as a walk around mostly to see sony quality as i have been considering sony a7r. Looking for a smaller outfit to lug around from my canon 1ds and large heavy lenses. Overall, excellent quality and very impressive iso. I only shoot raw so cannot comment on jpegs. On the downside, i found macro is weak and cannot focus on small subjects. Some nice features (many) do not work for raw; only jpeg. For me that matters. If you shoot raw and use adobe camera raw, you will need photoshop cs7; I use phaseone for raw but adobe bridge wont show the sony raw thumnails. The above or issues i can live with but the biggest issue is that the lcd is impossible to see in sunlight. Had the rx100 at the beach and it was impossible to take a picture. I could not see anything. I just packed it away. Then 1 week after i purchased this rx100 ii, sony announced rx100 iii (m3) that has built in viewfinder. So, picture quality is outstanding for a point and click but you really need to get the (m3) with the viewfinder. I know, i could buy a viewfinder for the m2.... For about $450. 3 stars is all due to sunny day impossible to use

Best point and shoot camera money can buy on the market right now! Phenomenal image quality! Start up time on the camera is a little sluggish but not terrible.

Camera:
The camera is great. Take time to play with it. I would not recommend this purchase if you're looking for an everyday point-and-shot camera. Although this has a lot of great features, I can do just as well with my older, much-much cheaper Sony Cyber-Shot.

When I compared my regular snap shots with a cannon mirror-less camera (%60 less expensive), the cannon took better, sharper pictures half of the time. The macro shots on the RX100M2 are really beautiful. The video quality on the camera is pretty good.

Bundle:
I purchased the camera with a bundle. The extra batteries, the wall charger/adaptor, memory card were necessary purchases. Everything else either broke upon first use, did not suite or fit the type of camera or was left out of the bundle altogether. Amazon handled it pretty well though.
