I've had no problem loading several hundred gigabytes of data on it at a time. I can't tell you if this was done faster or slower than other makes. I expect transferring massive files to take time, I am just happy when it happens without a crash, which this unit did not do. It also did not slow my system down as it processed. It is quite rugged, built very well. As far as I am concerned I am saving money not buying a carry case.

I've had several other brand name portable hard drives and was skeptical about purchasing this one because I didn't know much about it...even after researching it on my own...but considering that the other big name companies hard drives were basically a total waste of hard earned money, I decided to give it a go and order one. I'm SOOOO glad I did. This drive is a billion times better than any others I've had. It's amazingly strong and reliable. My three year old got a hold of it once, slobbered on it, and dropped it several times in the process of me chasing after her to retrieve it. When I finally got it and plugged it in, it worked marvelously....I was shocked because my other hard drives, if you even knock it down once, all the files get messed up, lost, or unable to open. I highly recommend this product. Even came back to purchase a few more but as luck would have it are out of stock right now :( I will buy more for sure!

This drive is written up to be super tough and durable. It was never dropped, bumped or jostled and in less than 3 months of use, it completely failed bringing piles of irretrievable information with it. If you need something to stand the test of time... this is NOT the product.

On Christmas morning, this device suffered no less then 5 drops by me within the first hour. Since then I have definitely tested its claim to be "military grade". Not one scratch and no issues. I love how quiet this is and how cool it stays all the time. I use it all of the time to play movies off of on my ps3 as well as my tablet and it has yet to even get warm. For a TB of space and a sleek, small, and rugged design...I'd definitely buy this again.

When I used the included cable to connect the drive, it crashed my computer. I tried again with a different cable and a different port. My computer recognized the drive, but it the drive didn't work. I couldn't open it nor transfer files to it, and the software update from Silicon Power wouldn't recognize the drive. I don't know if this is a usb 2.0 issue, but I had to return the unit. Beware, I don't think this is compatible with USB 2.0 no matter what the description says.

This is one of the best purchases I've made in the past year. It's incredibly useful to keep my data handy, and it is well designed with the embedded short but very workable USB cable.
