This drive is a bit larger than others so it doesn't fit in some cases. It uses an unconventional USB cable (USB-A to USB-A). It comes with 2 of those, one of which is very short and fits in a 'notch' in the side of teh drive case. That means you never have to go searching for a cable and traveling with it is easy.

Convenient! Plug in and go! I couldn't decide between a WD external hardrive and this SP hardrive. I purchased the WD from our local Best Buy, as it was quite a bit less expensive. Plugged it in, and the thing wouldn't work. Well...another experience of "you get what you pay for!" My SP hardrive arrived this morning, and it is awesome! Plugged it in, and that was it, backing up my computer as I type this. I love the design, the short little cord in the side is convenient for on the go, and the longer cord is great to have for use at work.I would recommend this without hesitation!Also...shipping was a flash...very quick delivery!

It starts making the squealing high pitch noise just after 3 days of using it. The noise is very annoying. I have two of them and both of them have the same issue.

THERE IS ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE INSTRUCTION BOOK IS HORRIBLE, ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I spent hours trying to get this stupid thing to work, and all I could get was "access denied." Since there is NO customer service, and no instructions to speak of, I am going to have to send this back, which is a huge pain in the *SS. I am so freaking aggravated. What a waste of my time. I should have gone to a real store and gotten some real help. THIS was a bad decision. ;(

I've had no problem loading several hundred gigabytes of data on it at a time. I can't tell you if this was done faster or slower than other makes. I expect transferring massive files to take time, I am just happy when it happens without a crash, which this unit did not do. It also did not slow my system down as it processed. It is quite rugged, built very well. As far as I am concerned I am saving money not buying a carry case.
