I did a back up from my other 1 TB external HD screenplay.Faster than expected also i tried 1 GB from my Envy Ultrabook with 3.0USB port and it was awesome like few seconds transferring data . Up today the better external HD i ever had. Easy to use . Very fast. AWesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did a back up from my other 1 TB external HD screenplay.Faster than expected also i tried 1 GB from my Envy Ultrabook with 3.0USB port and it was awesome like few seconds transferring data . Up today the better external HD i ever had. Easy to use . Very fast. AWesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i bought this when a iomega usb drive crashed with all my data, managed to back it up to ly laptop and the transfer and create backups using this usb drive, i am still using this usb drive, it is very reliable vs the iomega usb which will not work any more...

I bought this mainly for the rugged faeture, with visions of overheatin in the back of my head. I was wrong.It works like a dream. it's very quick, very clean, and smooth. The encluded short cable makes it even better.I have 200+ gig of photos on it and it doesn't even hesitate.It's well worth the money.

I have to say I am very impressed with the quality of this drive. I was looking to purchase an external hard drive to store my videos and back up my computers. I wanted to get at least 1.5 Gigs of space to make sure I have enough memory in the future and not having to buy more storage anytime soon. I almost settled on a western digital drive 1.5 at a very reasonable price but I did not feel ready to take the leap so I continued my searching, and lo and behold I stumbled upon this mighty little warrior of a drive. I must say even though this is only 1 GB I am so happy I went with it instead. Quality over quantity wins almost every time. I asked myself how useful is a very large drive if it cannot withstand the test of time? We all know the response to that "USELESS". With that said it was very easy for me to go with the A80 Silicon Power Rugged Armor A80 1 TB.My observation of this drive is that it's very well built; solid, very portable, very quiet. I backed up 290 gig of data it took 4.15 hours using USB 2.0 I ordered a 5Gbps BC618T 54mm 2 Port USB 3.0 Laptop Express Card which should help improving the speed with the USB 3.0 cable . After 4+ hours running I touched the drive to see if it was hot and there was no heat whatsoever. The price is not bad either for such quality. It comes with a 3 year warranty but I still went ahead a get Squaretrade for 3 years for the peace of mind and it was so cheap anyway. I really hope I won't have to use the warranty.Overall the A80 is awesome!!! Get it, you won't regret it.

I ordered the Silicon Power Rugged A80 since it was military grade (anti-shock, waterproof, etc ...) - I was sure that my nephew would love it for his birthday. However, when the product arrived it was the Silicon S20 regular 500GB Hard Drive. It had a sticker on the side that mentioned Silicon Rugged A80 even though the hard disk was an S20 (totally diff hard drive). I guess the vendor ran out of A80 and decided to try and slide the S20 instead, hoping the customer does not notice the difference. I had to contact Amazon, obtain an RMA#, box the drive, take it to UPS and now wait for a refund. We missed getting my nephew a BD gift on time. :(

Nice that the hard drive has 2 USB 3 cords with it with the small one attached. I haven't thrown it on the floor or tried to drown it just handled nicely. Ok buy. A big flash drive would work instead, but lots more money.

My first part delivered was actually DOA, but with the research I put into this I still thought it was my best option. So I ordered another (previous was refunded without issue).Second one has worked great. I am getting really good speed from usb 3.0 on Macbook Pro Retina. Right around 100 MB/S (I ran a test a few times and they came in 96 was my low and 104 was the high). Reformatted to mac fine (originally a FAT format). Actually, the first few test using FAT were fast as well.Overall, I love the cord holder in the housing. Eases the need for carrying more and more cords. Use with the small cord is easy on a desktop work area. The drive sits right next to your computer very clean. Lap use with the short cord is much harder, so I am glad they give a second full length cord in the package that I leave at home for couch use.All in all, a great addition, especially for a usb3 added drive for someone with a smaller SSD internal drive.
