We have a newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic in our household even though we are physically active and watch our weight and diet. Bad genes, I guess. We love a good chocolate cake and they will never ever stop us from eating that. Chocolate cake = high blood sugar. However, we have found that chocolate cake + 30 minutes of Wii sports = normal blood sugar. The graphics are kinda hokey, the Wii remotes could be more precise but the fact that we are having fun and moving (sweating!) after chocolate cake, instead of falling asleep in our Lazy Boys after dinner tells us that the Wii is worth a two thumbs up.

Just got this today from a local store. It looks great and works wonderfully. Very easy to set up. Its got a learning curve to it, but I think its a pleasant change to the gaming industry. The only thing negative I have to say about it is its graphics, which are maybe a little better than the original Xbox. Expected more from Nintendo, but I think the revolutionary playing style makes up for the lack of good graphics.
My advice to you: If you really want the Wii, buy it locally, you'll save at least $100. I ain't payin no 400 bucks for it and 1 game.. lol

Get one, if you can. It's as much fun as you have heard, and easy and intuitive to use. Gamers and gamer-haters alike will have a blast playing this and even watching others play it.

I was amazed at the sensitivity and area that the tiny IR bar could read. It covers an area of about 5ftx5ft or MORE once you have it set up correctly. It senses even the smallest movements.
One point ot be concidered is the players ability to imagine themselves in an environment. While intuition might tell you to point at the screen to aim, that's not the case. You actually have to aim where you normally would if you were in that situation. Thus, something like hitting a ball that's coming at you becomes tricky if you're aiming below you because that's the level of the tv. The Wii wants you to act naturally at your own body levels, not aiming at the screen like an end-all-be-all answer. It takes some getting used to.
I wish I had my Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in order to see if these comments were useful there.
Bottom line: an excellent console that goes above and beyond, though it takes some self training to get used to the handling of the Wii remote. WELL worth the $250. More features should be added as the console gets older (more internet channels and the ability to connect to other players).

I haven't played an actual video game system since I was about ten years old. I was a huge fan of the Super Nintendo. I loved Zelda, Mario Brothers, and Donkey Kong. More recently I felt that video game systems got away from the fun side of it all and got too serious. I always enjoy playing a game that didn't require a person to spend hours on end to have fun playing it. I like to pop the game it play for a little while and turn it off. I don't want to stress out and get mad while playing a video game. After one day of playing Nintendo's latest entry in the gaming market. And being the first video game system I have purchased for myself in 15 years. After actually being excited about finding and purchasing an electronic device for the first time in my life. The Wii brings back what it feels like to be 10 years old again. It is very exciting. Having only played the Wii Sports game that came with the system. I am very impressed with just how much fun Nintendo has made gaming become again. The Wii will be something really big for Nintendo. I can't wait to see what kinda games they have up their sleeves!

Hats off to Nintendo for this jewel. I ordered the Wii recently and it came in yesterday. After less than ten minutes of installation I put Wii Sports in and was immediately pleasantly surprised. I expected simple little games, with a little motion sensing finish, but I didn't expect them to be highly addictive and fun.
Wii Sports is like five games in one. For instance in Boxing you beat your first oponent and the next and they progressively become more difficult, challenging you a little bit more one after the other. I won't spoil anything else for you, but if your into fun, addictive, family games than the Nintendo Wii is for you. On the flipside, you've got the new games coming out, with a much darker finish.
In short, the Wii is a sure-thing to appeal to the hard-core gamer for its innovation, as well as the casual gamer who just wants to sit down every once and a while. (Like my mother, for instance. She never plays videogames, but there she was whacking those tennis-balls!)
BUY IT. IT'S REALLY, REALLY GOOD!
And did I mention the price advantage? It's totally worth it!

yeah wii is pretty fun but not all the time. but i bet everybody that if the ps3 or the xbox 360 were the same price of the wii there wouldnt be any ps3 or xbox 360 at the stores. yeah i own the three of them but i like my ps3 better the xbox360 goes second and the wii third. wii doesnt even have online right now and that makes it boring. and i don't like the graphics of it it looks like a gamecube but with a new controller. well guy u decide not me so go out there and buy anything you want and don't listen to whatever the other people says its your decision not theirs.

The wii is really fun. you get wii sports with the wii.
In wii sports, you play baseball, golf, tennis, bowling, and boxing.
In baseball, golf, tennis, and Bowling you use the wii remote and boxing you need the numchuck and the wii remote.
IN wii sports, there is training,where you train to play the normal sports. There is also Fitness testing where you do a 3 sports and they tell you how old you are.
The wii sports is pretty fun but after you play a lot, it gets really repetative and gets boring.
Not like other consles, you can shake and wave the remote, you can actually get some exercise.
I really like the WIi.

Ever since I heard that Nintendo's newest console was going to play old Nintendo games (NES, SNES, etc) I started listening. When I saw the controller the first time, I was hooked. Console gamers have been using the same old same old controller for years, and it never seemed like it was going to end, but then Nintendo said "No, we're going to do something really DIFFERENT."
But although the Wii is different, and in a good way, it can appeal to diehard gamers the same way Nintendo wants to bring in new gamers. My brother, who is a big Xbox/Halo fan, said that the controller was "Dumb" when I first showed him pictures of it, but when he actually got it in his hand, and started to see what it could so, I started hearing something different from him: "This is so cool. This is the best system."
Nintendo has a winner on its hand, even if it doesn't seem like it at first. The DS was plaged with people (including me) not getting it at first, but now, it's destroyed the PSP in the marketplace. I think we'll see something similar happen with the Wii in the coming months. Sony, get ready to lose your top seat.

Keeping up with the joneses' has not been fun in a long time, but buying the Nintendo Wii has been a blast. Sure the games are a bit pricey, but the Virtual Console option gives people in our age range the option to buy the games we played from "back in the day", and still get schooled on all the latest crazes. The remotes are a little time consuming, but once you have the hang of it, it is so much fun. I suggest buying a classic controller, even though the button configuration is not totally the same when playing a classic like Super Mario Bros. I also purchased a gamecube controller, and use it more, so i guess it is a personal preference choice.

Ok. I remember when they first announced the wii. I thought oh great another expensive game console. But when they announced it would be $250 I was sooo happy. I was happy because with all the excellent features it would be fun. So I tried to get one. It was always sold out. So this morning I was sleeping my Dad woke me up. Because a Target around my house got in 2 wii's. The closest one went sold out. So we went to a different one. At like 8:30 and they had some in! I was out of breath because I was running to the electronics department. And my parents bought it. They had 2 wii's in the nintendo section. They got one out for us. Then some other guy bought one. I was like we got lucky because they go fast. Then the brought out 4 more. This system is so fun! So get one while you can. Now I won't be so addicted to the Xbox 360 anymore.

Thank you Amazon.com for finding this game and getting it to me quickly and in perfect condition. I have never been a game person but the Wii has brought out the kid in me. At age fifty-five (55) I am enjoying this top of the chart adventure. I was unable to purchase this locally but Amazon.com shipped and delivered to be at a very reasonable price. Again I have never been so pleased and I would recommend the WII to all ages!Nintendo Wii

The title says it all. Nintendo has done what other console makers could never do. Make a system that appeals to everyone. And I do mean EVERYONE! Whether you're an advanced gamer, a novice gamer, a mother, a father, a grandparent, kids, whoever! Doesnt matter if you have been playing for years or never have played in your entire life. YOU WILL WANT TO PLAY THIS!
My wife has been playing the new Zelda & Wii Sports games for like 4 days straight! And she NEVER used to play games. She loves the motion sensing controls of the system & says its easier to learn because it feels more natural than just mashing a bunch of buttons on some huge brick of a controller like the other guys (Sony & MS) have. And its totally affordable too, so its a GREAT deal for what all you get with the system. The graphics aren't quite as good as the PS3 or Xbox 360, but they are still great & will still knock your socks off. Be sure to get the component cables for even better looking graphics too!
Mark this on your calendars folks. Its the time in history when Nintendo took gaming to the next level. Bravo!

This console is targeted for family gamers and casual gamers. I rated this 5 stars because of the new games coming out super smash brawl, mario galaxy, and dance remix. We is the most affordable and best choice of the lot!

I never considered myself a full-fledged gamer until this system came out. I work at Toys R Us so when they came in one day suddenly, i put on on hold and bought it after my shift off of impulse. I must say, it was well worth the money.
I havnt been able to turn it off since the day I got it. Although the graphics arnt up to 2007 standards the gameplay is awesome. The entire thing is all motion actiavated and the Wii sports is one of the best things about it. After a few rounds of baseball my shoulders began to ache.
Its a great game system also in the fact that it doesnt allow you to sit down and play games all day. You actually get up and do something. So now more being lazy I guess.
But overall, its an absolute awesome system and well worht the little bit of money that it costs. its good for everyone, even non-gamers as its easy to figure out with very few buttons on the remote to have to deal with.

Without repeating what everyone else has said here, I definitely enjoy this gaming system especially since it allows you to play retro games from Gamecube, N64, SNES, Sega, etc. with it's online interface. I would recommend you get connected with WiiConnect24 so you have constant updates and access to the other features like news and weather. Wii Sports that comes with this system is very basic, but still tons of fun especially when you have people over, just have plenty of batteries!

This console combine anything you need to entertain yourself, your family, your kids of any age, your parents in law, the grandparents and even the cat.
Smart desing, smart selection of games, (i just got sports, play and zelda), the whole family enjoy fully, the photo applications, the internet, the music, the games, everything in such a high level. The impeccable work of Miyamoto is just a masterpiece.Genius!
Fully recomended. You will not be disappointed.

I've owned every Nintendo system since the NES. I've been playing video games for over 20 years. The Nintendo Wii is simply the best video game system of all time. The new motion sensor controller and "nunchuck" have reinvented the way games are played. The controller/nunchuck is very easy to pick up and use for the first time with wiisports. WiiSports is a great game. I would have easily paid 50 dollars for it. I love all of the sports but baseball and tennis are my favorites. Anyone can play these games. I own 3 other games but so far I spend most of my time playing wiiSports. The wii is very easy to set up and play. It took me less than 10 minutes to start playing and that included setting up the internet and installing the wii updates. The wii channel menus are easy to understand and use. The photo channel is fun. I'm looking forward to playing games on the wii from my favorite series like Mario and Resident evil. Nintendo has a huge winner on it's hands with the wii. I recommend it to everyone regardless of age or previous video game experience.

Nintendo has always been one of the formatable gaming companies over the past 20 years starting with the NES, and the Nintendo Wii is the next generation that help bring them back into the front of the competition. Although this unit does not have High definition DVD capablities (blue ray for PS3, and HD DVD addapter for xbox 360), The 480P, wireless network, unique controlers, and low price tag make this unit a very formitable competition for the X box 360 and PS3. Playing with this unit and the controllers makes even the arcade look out of date. when and how you move is how the player moves. One step closer to virtual reality interaction. Unique and ahead of the other 2 systems by far. One thing nintendo has never left out is the whole family. This unit may not have all of the violent and top selling games at the other two units, but it has plenty of games that are fun, and allowable for 5-8 year olds to play with. This is worth checking out. I'm sure you will not be dissappointed.

When I got the Wii, I opened it and said,"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!"
The Wii is so cool because of the wii remote! Like when you are playing tennis, you actually have to swing it and your character does swings also!
In boxing, you tilt your body to the side and your character does that to!!
And one of the best thing about this is that you can create your own characters called Miis!! You can make yourself or make any body you want!!!
You can make your character be you and make it look like exactly like you!!!!
Buy the Wii!!! It's cool! And it is also much cheaper than the PS3!!!

I'll make this brief. I was fortunate enough to have a friend in the US send me over one of these (I live in the UK), so I promptly called my friends over for some Wii fun when the package arrived.
We must have started playing Wii Sports at about 7pm and didn't stop until about 4am in the morning. A friend had also brought his Xbox 360 which has some lovely high definition visuals, but in all honesty, Rockstar Table Tennis was probably the worst game to put on after playing Wii Sports Tennis - pressing the A button to make the character swing seemed fairly pathetic after Nintendo's motion sensing!
Don't worry about the Wii not being HDTV capable. Sure, it'd be nice if it did, but the quality of the art direction in games is far more important to me than the number of pixels on screen (and take this from me, I'm an HDTV maniac!)
Nintendo shaped the way games are as we know them right now, and after wrongly doubting the DS, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and jumped right in for this. I'm glad I did!

This system is cheap compared to the ps3 and the 360 and that is mainly why I ended up buying it. The motion sensor stuff should end up being really good once developers take the time to make good games. It appears to be solidly made and I like the color, doesn't look cheap.
The backward compatibility is a good thing for me, I really can't afford to buy the $50 wii games at the moment. But you need a gamecube controller and memory card to play the old games - the wii controller will not work.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how nintendo uses the usb ports in the future. Having an internal memory (512mb) is a really good idea, and using SD cards as memory as well is nice because those have gone down in price considerably. Great system for families with kids or for people who are looking for something unique :)
