The game controls are simply unbelievable. Playing Wii Sports (came bundled) for example including (tennis, bowling, baseball, boxing and golf) with the Wiimote is incredible. It is like you actually playing in the game. You need to perform the actions by yourself. I have other games like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with awesome graphics, music, and you have to fight using your sword using the Wiimote. No other console gives you this kind of experience.
The console is a solid one and it works nicely and fast. The WiiConnect24 lets you connect to the Internet for playing, shopping, internet browsing (with the Opera browser,. need to be downloaded, watch news or the weather forecast, also you can view pictures using any SD card).
Simply an awesome entertainment center.

Games like Sports (free with system) and Wii Play are worth owning the system for alone. The boxing training segments can be quite a workout!
The system is compatable with the old cube games (although you must use game cube memory cards for them rather than the Wii cards. Another bonus is the wireless internet options allowing for downloads of classic games and more add-ons appear from day-to-day. Future releases like the remake of Destroy All Monsters & talk of Star Wars combat games have me looking foward to spending more on Wii.
One negative: Like it's competition, the games for the Wii are overpriced, but blockbuster is already renting them.

So that being said, I'm not going to gush over the positives... I'm going to point out the few negatives I see with the system, but before doing so want to remind people I voted the system at 5 stars.
pre wii prep - If you have your TV in a room cluttered with things such as furnature... you might need to rearrange stuff either before every playing of certain Wii titles or permantly to get wii's full effect.
I noticed with Wii Golf... (especially if the censor is above the TV), the game struggles to pick up on my strength of swing. It also does this with kicking off in Madden. It should be noted I have a high TV (wall mounted very high), but certain games might be affected by where you put the censor, in certain TV set ups. Just something to note that might only apply to 10% reading this review.
Your ARM can tire with extended play of certain titles (boxing comes to mind, Madden, etc) (however I think as a parent potentially buying for Children this could be a plus).
and really that's about it... minimal. Basically I highly recommend the Wii, but I did want to point out a few things I noticed playing it over the course of today.

You are not wasting away exercising your fingers here. You are actually up and jumping around, it's incredibly fun to play wii tennis with a friend. This is a very social system, and is really what video games have been missing. Between playing a long, solitary game that requires me to expend no energy, and playing the wii which is unbelievable work of accomplishent on nintendo's part.
I think the graphics are fantastic from what I've seen, and most importantly, everyone -- even people who don't like video games -- loves to play it.

This thing is AMAZING. We have been playing Wii Sports non-stop. Can't wait to get to the other games! So what sets the Wii apart? The feeling of being immersed into the game. Sure, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 have all the technology advances built in to them. They are the cutting edge as far as graphics and video, but neither of those captured me as much as the Wii.
The Remote is what really sets it apart. You can't sit down and play this thing. So much for being a couch potato! You have to get up and MOVE. Second is the creation of Miis. You create your own profiles and can bring them with you to another Wii (if you can find somebody else with one). Last, is the compatibility with GameCube and the virtual console games. It's awesome that I can download games from my childhood.
The con is that you will spend lots of time playing!
If you are into the latest video technologies, get the PS3 or 360. If you want amazing interactive technology that you can forget about AND HAVE FUN, get the Wii...If you can find one!

There are a multitude of games to come for this system and so many of them look promising. This system is a bargain for the price as the system also features the option to download games of old (NES, SNES, N64, Sega, etc...), the system will have internet browsing very soon, you can send messages (emails) to friends, and it plays Gamecube discs.
This system is easy to use (for most games) and even a person who has never played video games before can pick it up and learn it easily. It is great for people of all ages no matter how young or old, and it is HIGHLY entertaining!

Ill be honest, Im not a nintendo fan, I grew up on the Playstation system. I sold my PS1 to get enough cash to finsh paying for the PS2,and I intended to do the same. I had $100 dollars less than needed, and my parents were not going to shelve it out. My girlfriend gave me the Wii as an early Christmas present days ago. She always gives me good gifts(she LOVES ME!) I got the Wii. Naturally,I was a bit frozen. I expected to get the PS3,and didnt want to hurt her feelings,so I plugged it in. It was so TIGHT! The contoller is so light, you forget you have it in your hand, its like a virtual reality center in your house. Army men might actually consider using the Wii as a gun simulator. My girl, and I tried it out.(shes a big video game fan, too.) She had already gotten me two remotes(she LOVES ME!), so we played Wii boxing together. Wii(no pun intended) stayed up all night playing. At the end,it turned out to make a great date. Get this system. As for me, Ill see what games I can get(so what if im breaking the Playstation tradition, Theyve gone too far. Who in the hell shelves out 700 dollars for a game? Laughed so hard when I read that the Wii beat out the PS3.Maybe they should I dont know. LOWER THE PRICE?!

Everyone plays with that. Kids, Women, Old people, young people, people with fancy evening clothes! etc...
Price is good, and the potential is great. Zelda is awesome. Have you ever tried to play a game where you actually holding a sword???
Fishing, throwing etc.. become realistic. That's where the revolution relies. You can do more money from enhancement experience than eye candy. At the end, that's what we want. We would like to be _in_ the game. Holding something that is closed to the reality. Wii sports is amazing.
It worth standing in line and getting the vary last one!
EA and other will start using that potential. Every _family_ that visit my living room is going to buy one. That's a fact. "I want one of these" is a common phrase.
Nintendo will probably take the profit and build there next gen to rule that market. Good for them.
And you out there, the games developers, we are waiting for you folks to build more games for the Wii.

Nintendo nailed this one. It's not a couch potato video system. It gets people up, active, and having fun. Others and the description cover the technical details. I just wanted to comment on the quality of interaction you get among players. It's a fun system and I am very glad I was able to pick one up (good timing at a local electronics store).
Only thing I'd recommend would be picking up enough remotes for everyone so people don't have to keep trading them around. Enough remotes for all is essential for multiplayer action games like tennis and for others it makes games go better and helps with wearing the wrist strap to keep remotes from flying.
