The reason I gave an overall rating of 4 stars is because of the graphics. Yes, I knew going in that the graphics wouldn't be all that great, but I was still expecting something more than what I'm getting so far. However, I'm sure that will also improve as time goes on. I guess the first round of games (or at least the ones I have - Zelda and Tony Hawk) aren't tailor made for the system (I know Zelda's graphics supposedly look the same on the Gamecube). But as games are made specifically for the Wii, I'm sure they will look better.
Regardless, this is the most fun I've ever had playing video games. Nintendo is really onto something here. And from what I've heard, their next generation system will focus more on graphics than this one. So if you combine fun gameplay with great graphics on the next Nintendo system, you could be looking at the best video game system ever! I can't wait!

how can i explain this better. the Wii is mario party to the extreme. every game on the wii, because of the controller, feels like a fun goofy game. the more i play it the more i feel it was built for mario tennis. this is the ultimate get your friends togther. girls and guys. and goof off over a few drinks.
this system succeeded in every way possible at accomplishing what it was meant to do. which is be a fun, easy to use, addictive system. but it is not trying to, nor can it ever, replace an xbox 360 for a hard core gamer. once again.. they are apples and oranges.
... but to be honest... at risk of negating everything i just said... if i had to pick.. i would go with the Wii

If I ever buy any kind of gaming system again I will try it first before wrapping it and putting it under the tree. My son keeps telling me he understands and for me not to worry. However I see the disappointment on his face.....Shame on you nintendo.

My wife does not play video games, she knows I like them, but has very poor hand-eye coordination and is horrible at video games. That being said, she has had a blast playing Wii sports and has spent a few hours playing Zelda. She loves that you actually move to interact with the game. She doesn't care about graphics or about HD capable, next generation or any of that stuff. She cares aboutt having fun. That is what the Wii is, FUN.
I love the system. I play it too much, but it is so addicting. Sure the controls are not pin point accurate, but you get used to it, and it really is fun. The graphics are not crystal clear, but they are good enough. I enjoy them greatly.
It really is a fun system. I own PC games and sometimes would feel bad, because my wife had no interest in them. Now she suggests we play the Wii.
Very fun

More importantly, if you are thinking about buying one, the most promising aspect of this system is the potential for group gaming. The controllers, like Nintendo advertised, offers a lot of fun for gamers and people who have never touched a video game before--this aspect beats out the other two, more powerful systems. For the most part the controllers are strong.
Now sure there are games out there that are worth playing by yourself such as Zelda, but I think the biggest grab this system has is the ability to make gaming fun for everyone.
This system has the promise of being the number 2 system because of its price and its ability to be played by almost anyone.
The one lacking point is the graphics. Sure, this may only be a minor aspect for some gamers but I argue the shelf life on this system may only run for about 6 years, while other systems such as Playstation 3 have a lot more time due to people lacking the current top of the line technology that the other systems offer, ex. blue-ray HDTV etc.
Recommended as a system for group gaming, fans of Nintendo games, and for serious gamers as a second system.

Wii Sports, which comes with the Wii, is the perfect way to introduce people to the Wii. This simplistic looking game can be overlooked, but I'm positive I, along with many others, will remember the first time they played Wii Sports, and that's really saying something. From the time you first swing your tennis racket (wiimote), to the time you throw your first jab or uppercut, you will be hooked, and you will comeback for more. I could go on and on about the Wii, but you truly have to experience it yourself. Whether you're playing Wii Sports, Madden, or Zelda, your experience will never be the same again.
However, Wii is meant to be enjoyed by multiple players. Pick up an extra Wiimote and Nunchuck when you purchase your Wii. Furthermore, make sure you have plenty of space to play and get ready for a workout.

To everyone who gripes that the graphics can't compare to Xbox or PS, Jar Jar Binks used better graphics than Yoda in the original Star Wars trilogy but Jar Jar was still the worst movie character in history! If graphics were the most important part of a game, no one would have played Pac Man.
The Wii's graphics are fine. Really, once you play you stop paying attention to graphics. You'll be entirely focused on hitting the pitch coming at you! I've already rushed out and bought Legend of Zelda, too. I love the game play.
The Wii is the most innovative platform ever!

I just recently opened it up and this console is AMAZING!! I've got the XBox but this is just so fun, of course you can play sitting down but it's much funner to get "involved" in the physical games likes sports.
Wii Tennis is my favourite and it's become part of my workout routine where I play 10 games every afternoon, rotating between playing right handed and lefthanded, and believe me you'll begin to feel the burn, it's a great fun, entertaining, healthy and overall excellent investment.
The console is actually really small, it sits nicely on it's base and looks very sleek and beautiful.
I hear nintendo is planning on making rechargable wiimotes, that would help a lot instead of the batteries that it runs on right now.
Creating Mii is great too, and so many Miis can be made to look like clones of yourself, family members and friends, it's really great!!

I am also a quitter. I was left behind when games went to moving the camera, aiming, AND sneaking/running/walking...whew! I was in the dust. I want to be challenged; not frustrated. I want to have fun; I am not romanced by dark shoot-'em up games. There is also so much to be said for the difference in playing TOGETHER from watching someone else sneak/run/walk/aim/and look for an hour.
The controls are incredibly intuitive. I didn't get frustrated. The sports games are soo much fun. And cute...I like cute too. (Highly recommend Rayman also.)
This is so much more satisfying than what has been left for players like me...Bejeweled...Mahjong. I was laughing out loud, for hours. I LOVE IT.
...also, thank you Toys R Us for handing out tickets to those waiting in line; this is fair and it also saves those who would not be able to get one from prolonging disappointment.

I have nothing bad to say about the Nintendo Wii.
If you can afford it, buy it. It truly is a new way to be entertained.

For a while, I was worried that the Wii would disappoint, especially this whole motion-sensor feature. Sometimes you see something on an ad and you think it's like a McDonald's commercial where you unwrap the product and find it a tad different from what the ad suggested. Well, after having tried it out at home, I can say it's everything I thought it would be.
The motion-sensor works SEAMLESSLY. It wasn't clumsy, or weird, or clunky in any way. Granted, I haven't tried all the games I ordered, just Zelda, and played with the system a little, but I must say I'm impressed.
I'm not a "Nintendo fan boy" or anything. Just a happy consumer. I think Wii is going to be huge. If you haven't had a chance to get one, I suggested go NOW. It'll be the next iPod.

The only drawback is the lack of sports games available. If you are a sports game fanatic you are better off with an xbox 360.

This is so much fun to play. It is so easy. My parents who are almost 60 loved playing it. We spent two weeks over Christmas playing Wii sports (mainly bowling and tennis) and much to my dismay, my mom (who i would call technically challenged) was BETTER than me at some of the sports games.
This console is so much better than the PS3 - as far as enjoyability to be had by all. We got the Wii and the PS3 at the same time and I have still NOT played the PS3. (Mostly because I am not interested in any of the games that are out for the PS3 but also because the ease of playing is just not the same.)
I would have gladly paid much more than the $249 that the Wii retails for. This is a great time to be had by everyone young and old. Make sure you get the second remote and nunchuck - two remotes are a must have for group play.
