The standalone game is good, however it is lacking in a few aspects.I played all the mini games through to collect the gold medals, but in reality the only 2 I kept coming back to were the 9-ball game and the Tank Game. The life of this game is only extended when playing with another person for a short while before it gets a bit boring. To me, this game seemed more like a tech demo than an actually game. I recommend getting it, but not the standalone version. Get the version with a wii-mote because then it'd be like picking this up for about $10.

This is the best anniversary gift I have EVER received. Better even than diamonds. I am a 31 year old woman in the military, and quite physically fit. My husband went all out and bought several games so I had a variety from the very beginning. I have never had so much fun working up a sweat in my entire life. I have played this gaming system with my 4 year old son, as well as my 19 year old step daughter and her friends. The only warning I can give is be careful and use the straps on the controlers. They are there for a reason!

We got this and hooked it up in just a few minutes with no problems. Once we put in Wii Sports we could not stop playing it. Bowling is addicting and we can't stop playing it. You won't be disappointed in getting one of these systems.

I've had and played with both Nintendo Entertainment System and Super NES, but neither of them compare to the excitement and functionality of the Wii.
I have about ten titles for the Nintendo Wii, including Rock Band and Guitar Hero III. I landed Guitar Hero for Easter, and landed Rock Band for my 39th Birthday.
I feel that the Wii is simply amazing and fun. The arcade quality graphics and sound are incomparable to earlier Nintendo platforms. Goodbye plastic cartridges, hello CD-ROM disks.
If you have the money and the hunger to move ahead into the world of the Wii, buy one. We all need a Wii somewhere in our lives.

I would say its a good console for kids to promote a little bit of exercise if they are going to play video games all day but for the adult gamer the system's "innovation" is overhyped.After trying a few games you realize a quick movement is just a replacement for a simple button push.I mean if the controllers movements could actually mimic your movements on screen perfectly it would be truly innovative.But the movement is just like clicking a button to a predetermined motion.For example when you do a slash for the sword in Zelda,no matter how you slash it you will see the same sword slash on screen its not going to mimic you if you want to try to do a side ways swipe or over hand slice.I tried the gamecube version of Zelda and it looked just as good and I felt alot more relaxed being able to sit back and just use the buttons.Not to mention if you don't execute the motions right then it feels like you are using an unresponsive controller.Its nothing more then a cute gimmick to try out but for the adult gamer i think the PS 3 or 360 is the way to go.After awhile it gets really old to have to stand up make moves that aren't really translated on screen.

This machine is less of a game console and more of a gadget that has a gimmick. The wii obviously has immense popularity and is garnering mostly positive reviews...well here is one from the other side.
First of all if you are looking for an immersive, mind-blowing entertainment experience, the Wii is just not capable of it. It is grossly underpowered and delivers graphics that are of last-gen quality.(You can get a Game Cube for like 20 bucks and it has the same graphics) There is no Hi-Def, no surround sound, laughable(almost none)online gaming and the thing can't even play DVDs!!!
Ok, enough technical stuff it's all about the gameplay right? Well the motion controller is okay at first but you quickly realize that it has extremely limited applications. After swinging my arm around for an hour I started wishing I could just press a button do to the same thing. I mean you get to flip your hand upwards to jump and they call it revolutionary.... I dont think so.
There are barely any good games for the system either. Mario and Zelda are the only ones to speak of and its the same stuff nintendo has been dishing out for years. Lets see something new!
Bottom line is just know what your buying because chances are your gona get tired of the Wii real quick and it will end up collecting dust like mine did till i sold it. Setup was very easy. We had it connected and running in less than 10 minutes. My wife and I played tennis for 2 hours the first session...so hard we were sore the next day! And this is a video game I can play with my son and we both enjoy it!

Everyone has fun with the Wii. Great for families and unlike some of the other electronic games it gets you off the couch and interacting with others!!! Great exercise too!!

Talk about a deal in video games! The Wii sets the tone for the "next generation" of games without really changing their graphical output. Instead Nintendo used innovation in the controller to take the same image quality to the next level. They filled a niche with this system that many didn't know existed. The Wii Sports game that came with the system is a lot of fun, although grows repetitive over time. I was quickly able to bring my Wii Fitness Age (a feature of the game) down below my actual age. The boxing, tennis and bowling are all excellently done. The baseball and the golf are inferior in my opinion, but they were free with the system so I won't complain. If you can find one, pick a Wii up, even if you have any of the other next-gen systems. This will only compliment it.

I purchased this as a family gift for Christmas. My son is 16 and already has xbox 360 so I wasn't sure if he would be interested in the wii (he likes to play alot of sports games)and my daughter is 12. My husband does not or should I say did not play at all. I was shocked to see that everyone loves this and wee all play together great family games!! Sure to bring the family together!

Did not enjoy this at all. Even first time playing these games was not enjoyable. Had to force myself to keep playing to say that I at least tried every game on the CD before I traded it in at GameStop.

This game did not come with our wii so I got it without the remote because others said it was quite fun. The game includes several mini games that are easy to understand and are geared for the entire family. Children ages 3-11 (ages of my kids) have enjoyed them and given all the game choices they have, surprisingly they continue to come back to this one.

My cousin has a Wii, and I visited her once and spent some time with the Wii. One night, we played it, and it was pretty fun. I didn't experience any problems with it that night. Then the next afternoon, I tried to navigate the Wii menus, and the pointer on the screen moved around very erratically as I moved the controller around. I wasn't sure why that was happening, as it didn't happen the previous night. I tried to play some games, but it didn't work very well. Then later at night, I tried it again, and the pointer was very smooth. I did not see any of the jerky/erratic movement that I saw during the day. Turns out the problem was due to sunlight coming into the house during the afternoon. My cousin has her TV set up against a wall that has some windows and a glass sliding door, so a lot of sunlight was coming in directly at me and the Wii controller. That screws up the Wii sensors. I did a search on the internet for "wii" and "sunlight" and other people have the same problem. Although the Wii is pretty fun (at night), I will wait for Nintendo to fix this problem in the next version of the Wii before I buy it.

This was a gift for ourselves (seniors) which we found easy to figure out and used it right away. Bowling is so much fun--you'll find you can still pull your ball to the right--you have to make adjustments just as though you were at the lanes...having automatic scoring makes the time go fast. We also purchased Wii Play which has 6 different games and another controller. I believe there is something for everyone and with the winter weather coming you'll look forward to having fun indoors!!!

The wii is the gaming experiance in the history of mankind. I've had my wii since it first came out in 2006. The style of control is great for first person shooters and racing games. I've had no problems with my wii and it is very easy to setup, update, and connect to the internet. The shop channel is great so I can play my favorite games from older consoles. Who needs graphics when you have really good interface, people say the wii sucks because of graphics. The only reason I am considering getting a second console from this generation, the ps3, is because there are some games from the playstation series that I like. Nintendo always releases their well known games on thier new consoles then there's all of the new games that you can get for it. Sometimes you have to look around a little bit to find a game you like. Some people say there are no good games, so far, I've seen at least five to ten good games for wii from each genre.
Overall, don't fall for the bad reviews for the wii because they are all lies.

overall i am pleased with my purchase disappointed that a controller was not included with the system so after getting a good deal on the system ended up paying the same as if i had bought a new one

The Wii is completely over hyped, it just is.
Every one is raving about how amazing, innovating, and fun it is, and I will say that it is all of those things, but it is also a somewhat cheap gimmick.
Most of the people who are over hyping it are the parents, who do not even yet own one, but are wasting their weekends waiting in lines outside stores, that aren't even getting them in. And believe me, I work in the electronics department of a major retailer, and it happened just last weekend. And these parents are raving about how its a video game system that gets your kids off the couch, but really, Wii Sports is the ONLY game that I have seen that really gets you off the couch, and even that could be played sitting down. And that is one of the only 2 games i have played on the wii and actually really enjoyed. The other being the new Super Mario Galaxy game. Though I still got bored with both within 1-2 weeks.
After a whole year of owning a Wii, the console I was most excited about of the 3 next gen consoles, and stood in line for at 4 in the morning on launch day. I'm quite disappointed.
If your looking for a console for you kids this Christmas season, and especially if they are boys ages 10 and up,and you choose a wii, just expect it to just be an expensive dust collector. Neither I, nor my brothers( 10 and 14) play it.
Go for a PS3 or 360, they are just better in all areas except price, but your really getting what you payed for with the PS3 and 360. Right now my current fav is the PS3, with the new price cut, blu ray player, and the fact that it is now getting all the new major titles that the 360 is getting(with the exception of the Halo Franchise and the new Mass Effect series) and more exclusive PS3 ones, you just cant go wrong with it.

The nunchuk works as it should. I bought it because my Wii only came with one nunchuk and we needed 2 to play some 2 player games. It appears to be a real Wii nunchuk and not a knock off. It works great. Recommended!

I didn't grow up playing video games, nor do I own another gaming system. While the Wii's wireless interface was originally appealing, it got boring fast. There still aren't too many games that really appeal to gaming newbies, and this is a rather expensive purchase to play "Wii Sports" and "Mario Kart" once a month. Bottom line: if you don't care for video games already, this won't make you like them much more. If you want to play tennis and bowling, you can spend less on a racket and the appropriate shoes and get out of the house.

Just picked this up during the midnight launch at Wal-mart, so far it's 3:45AM PST and I have to say that I'm totally impressed by Nintendo's latest effort though at first the new control may feel foreign after not more than just a few minutes it feels natural incredibly fun and after a little bit you'll never feel like going back to a regular controller again. I asked my cousin who was w/ me during the launch if he'd get a Wii and he said "no", but that all changed as we hooked it up and started playing Wii sports. All of a sudden it went from "no" to "what games are there" etc. Try this and I guarauntee(*sp) that you will be impressed by this revolutionary new system that places gameplay above nice shiny eye candy which unless you've been living under a rock should know by now that that's not what the Wii's all about. I just also wanted to add that I'm not just some Nintendo fanboy trying to butter this system up as I also own a 360 and also plan on owning a PS3 when the right games come out for it, pure and simple I am a gamer and don't care for one particular system over another as long as it has the games to back it up. For those that are skeptical stop doubting this is the real deal and at a price ($250) that can't be beat by any of Nintendo's competitors this is something that will entertain the entire family regardless of age, gender etc. For about $350 I picked up an extra controller set(wii remote and nunchaku)and a copy of Zelda (try getting anywhere near that much w/ any other system). I'll admit that when Nintendo had finally shared its strategy to the world a while back I was skeptical as well until I saw the videos for it and knew from than on that Nintendo was truly onto something great. Another cool note is that if you have a Gamecube controller lying around you can actually use that for playing the library of old school games that come from the Wii shop (which can be purchased w/ Wii points)instead having to go out and buy the new Wii retro controller (nice touch) some old school games can also simply be played w/ the remote. Also unlike the almighty Microsoft point the Wii points are on equal terms w/ the dollar so 100 Wii points equals $1 etc. You can purchase those online in the Wii shop by 1000 point increments(I believe) up to 5000 points. Prices for NES games are 500 points 800 points for Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo games and 1000 points for N64 games. Right now though the library is fairly limited offering no more than a few titles (no more than 5)for each console. The bottomline though is don't miss out on this revolutionary product it is definately worth at least a try before you dismiss it as a clever gimmick and is truly one of the best systems to come out in years(IMO) and a breath of fresh air to the staleness which are controllers.
Additional features include Wi-fi for wireless connection, 4 Gamecube control ports, 2 USB ports, 2 Gamecube memory card slots and extra slots for SD flash cards (doesn't accept anything else like Memorysticks) so you can view your pictures on the Wii for instance.
