When it comes to decide whether to choose a Ps3 or a 360, I would also say to include the Wii too.
9/10

Wii Sports was fun at first, particularly bowling and tennis. Even my wife played and she never plays video games. Friends came over and worked up a sweat. I finished Red Steel and I actually liked it a bit better than Call of Duty 3 on the Xbox 360. All was good. Then I played Zelda, which was one of the most overhyped games ever. I found it to be a boring kiddie game. Then I tried Super Swing Golf. Another disappointment. Next was Excite Truck and while a decent and fun game at first, it too got boring real fast.
I checked Gamespot for upcoming games and there are no decent ones on the horizon. I'm not a Mario fan and I'll get any cross platform games on the 360 because graphics do matter. I know a lot of casual gamers say its about the gameplay, but the graphics are a big part of that. Who wants to look at the Wii's blurry 480p (if you have the component cable) on their 50" HDTV? Plus the Wii's controller has so far been clunky at best, which ruins gameplay.
I guess I should have learned my lesson after owning the Gamecube. Nintendo does not make the kind of games I like anymore. I'm really torn by this since I loved my Super Nintendo and Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube was the best game of the last generation (unfortunately that was the only game I played on the Cube). But I like shooters and the Xbox 360 has plenty of good ones. Also its controller feels perfect for them. How are you going to use a scope with the Wii controller?
I know the Wii is selling well at the moment. But I think that is largely due to its low price and new controller that have attracted a lot of casual gamers with short attention spans. They will not buy a lot of games (quite frankly Wii Sports is enough for most) and will go on to the next fad. It looks like Nintendo has left the serious gamers to Sony and Microsoft in favor of the children's market. But at [...]each, how many games are parents going to buy for their kids? Ultimately I think the software attach rates to the Wii will be alarmingly low. This is not the disaster it would be for Sony and Microsoft since, unlike them, Nintendo sells their console at a profit. But its does not bode well for game selection and the overall health of the Wii, which may end up continuing the downward trend of the Gamecube. Nintendo's disdain for graphics is perfect for portable games and perhaps they should focus on their successful DS Lite.
Any adult who is considering getting the Wii should reconsider what kind of games you want to play. For me the Wii was a complete disappointment while the Xbox 360 has been a great platform. I couldn't get my Wii on Ebay fast enough.

We bought a Wii (with Wii Sports) from Amazon this Christmas for our 8 year old daughter. She was thrilled and we have had tons of fun playing with it since. Her little sister loves boxing! Since buying it, we have bought Cooking Mama and Raving Rabbids as well, which they enjoy too (I made it all the way through Raving Rabbids in three days.) My wife wasn't too happy about the amount of time that I was spending on Wii, but I couldn't stop playing. She's glad that I finished the game!

After our GameCube started having disk-read problems due to unintentional abuse from one of our friends, we realized that we needed something new to replace it, and still be able to play our many GameCube games. Fortunately, it does that, and it lets you keep using your controllers and memory cards, too. If your GameCube is starting to go shot, get this instead of another one.
Mii creation on the Mii channel is almost a game in itself. My brother and I laughed so hard at some of the characters we created (examples: Yueffo, an alien-looking guy, and Toothpick, a really tall and thin guy who seems to bring us bad luck in Wii Sports for some reason). You can stick your Miis on your Wii remote and take them with you to others' houses, too.
The Wii remote and Nunchuk detect your movements pretty well, but unfortunately how good the control is still depends on how people make their games. For example, in Wii Sports (included with the Wii for free), the tennis controls really well, but the boxing is absolutely horrific. I seem to have the most problems with games so far that require you make thrusting movements towards the screen. Waving and tilting the controller work well, and it's pretty good as a pointer, although I think the DS's touch screen worked out better for that sort of thing.
Although my parents still have dial-up Internet with the max speed of an elderly tortoise, so we can't do it, it is possible that if you have a broadband connection you can hook your Wii up to the Internet for downloads, past games, news, weather, and more. It seems cool, but until our connection speed gets about a million times faster, I'll have to wait. Online multiplayer may be possible for future games.
Basically, this is really cool for Nintendo's new system. I kinda don't like how it's only in one color for now (I really wish I could've gotten something not in white; since I got a color I'm not completely happy with, Nintendo will probably be releasing one in a favorite color of mine real soon. They always do that!), but the system looks pretty cool shape-wise and stuff. Look, there's even no disc tray; it just sucks your discs in like a vacuum! If that's not cool for a disc loader on a game system, then I can't imagine a better way. No more worrying about touching the lens!
I highly recommend you get this system. I'm just waiting for some more games to come out for it that I've been watching previews of closely in magazines, but there's some pretty good ones out for it right now, too. Like Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Rayman: Raving Rabbids (the latter I bought, the former I'm considering getting soon). And if all else fails, there's always another Mii you can make to laugh at.
This might be Nintendo's best system yet.

For instance if you are playing baseball and you swing your arms to hit the ball with the bat... it's the combination of seeing the player swing the bat on the screen and the satisfying clack of the bat with a slight brrr in your hand that makes you feel like you really did hit that ball. It's a simple thing but it makes a huge diference... Sony actually dropped the rumble technology in it's PS3 even though it was standard in it's PS2. This has been a major complaint of the system!
So you can't look at the graphics and judge this system... you have to hold the controller and once you do then you will understand the almost cult status of this system! Initially there were very few good games for the Wii fortunately game developers are now catching on to this and creating games that tap into the unique Wii controller system. I can't wait for the Star Wars game that is being made specifically for the Wii system... multi system games can be a real hit or miss for the Wii. The only shame about this system is that you can't just walk into a store to buy it... you have pay extra ordinary marked up prices which show no signs of changing for this year. Nintendo really should be ashamed and criticized for allowing this to happen, but they should be praised for realizing that us humans can not only play games with our eyes and fingers but with out full nervous system... hopefully the other manufactures will realize the error of the ways and start adding more tactile feedback to gaming.

I have a husband and a 5 yr old girl. They play together a lot. The Wii has just given them more things to do and I love it. They play mini golf, tennis, bowling and various other playground games. I like to play Littlest Pet Shop with her.
After she goes to bed, my husband and I play Wii Fit by challenging each other to beat scores. We also battle at tennis and mini golf. I kick his butt in fishing.
I would recommend this to families that just want the 2000's version of board game night. Probably not for the individual player or professional gamer.

the thing that I didn't care for are the graphics which are not that good compared to the PS3 and the 360.
all in all it is a high tech attractive system but not for harcore gamers.

Wii did not disappoint! We LOVE this system and have averaged at least 4 hours of playtime EVERY day since it was purchased back in early February. I can't tell you what it's done for our social life or how much fun it is to compete against each other one-on-one... you'll just have to buy one and see for yourself. We have a 16 year old daughter with multiple disabilities and even SHE can join in the fun with some of the games like bowling.
I was one of those unfortunate souls who didn't fully appreciate what a game system can actually bring to family/personal relationships and failed to get one when they were first released, but I don't lament having paid twice the regular price for it in order to receive it in time for his birthday. It was WELL worth the difficulty of finding and procuring one; actually gave me quite a sense of accomplisment.
I purchased Resident Evil 4 for it as well as Wii Play and Wii Carnival for his system, in order to give him the well-rounded experience. He loves them all and is actually setting foot in Game-stop stores every week to peruse other titles!
He tells me this was the best birthday present ever (among those of the past which included: Flight time learning to fly a small plane, a high-quality metal detector and hour-long Swedish Massage sessions!) and I couldn't be happier.

I played it at a party one night, and was hooked sinse
I purchased the system and everything that goes with it.
I am NOT one for video games, but this is different than anything out there on the market.
