I would be giving this a 5 star, but the video is a little disappointing. The camera is awesome and very similar to my old D80. I upgraded only for the video function and soon realized its limits. Indoor low light is not good for taking videos. Once you focus and start the video the subject, in my case a 2 year old boy, easily gets out of focus and you can't change it. So not a real replacement for a video camera, but for those short quick times I need to video something it works fine. Camera itself is awesome and with my 18-200mm Nikon VR lens I am always ready to capture those fleeting moments of a two year old.

I've owned Nikons since 1971 and D50, D70,D70s and a D80's before purchasing my D90. Just by the way the D90 handles low light/high ISO conditions makes the camera worth the price!!!! The improvement over the D80 is remarkable!!!!! I got really nice results shooting @ 3200 and H 1.0 (6400)!!! and this is shooting drag racing!!!! Good prices and then add the ease of buying from Amazon..... I added the Satechi vertical grip battery pack which I really like so far....... That is a good deal too with the timer and remote that came with it...

The D-90 is a Professional Camera and easy to learn...It takes great pictures like the Pros take.The battery has a long life too...along with great Nikon lenses...Buy it,try it, and you'll like it...aav

I've had this camera for a month now, and I couldn't be happier with it. I have taken a wide variety of photos, and it works great for everything. I was particularly happy with the portraits I have taken with it. I'm not new to photography or SLR cameras, but this is my first DSLR, and it has been easy and fun to learn the controls of the D90. I can't wait to get some more lenses for my D90, so I can do even more with it. This is just a great camera.

So Far, I have had my D90 for a Day and I LOVE IT I have spent over 20 years using both Film and DSLR's, and personally HATED Film Cameras all because there were times when my pictures just didn't come out like I wanted, and personally and literally had a whole blasted Roll screwed up by CVS Pharmacy, AND IT WAS DONE DELIBERATELY, NO ACCIDENT! And I have never taken another roll back to them, VACATION PHOTOS AT THAT. So when Digital Slr's started coming out, you can bet I bought me one, a Pentax ist DL about 5 or so years ago, sold it to my brother, who gave it to my Sister and brother in-law, and I bought a Nikon D40 in its place, then a Canon Rebel XSI after a year or so. then within six months of that bought a Nikon D60, then decided I would much rather have the D90, and proceeded to trade the D60 and XSI in, kept the D40 (centimental reasons) and I now have a Nikon D40 and a Nikon D90.Now what made me choose a D90? simple The HUGE 41 Custom Menu was a plus for me, 2nd the rave reviews of the picture quality, 3rd would have to the Low Noise up and down the ISO range, even at 6400 is good. 4th I would have bought me a Pentax K7 because of its huge improvement in WB mode, and other ares, but after looking at pictures from the K7 vs. pictures from the D90 at ISO 3200, no explanation was needed as to which was the winner, the D90 of course!I have compared cameras from Canon 40D and 50D and the Pictures seen at High ISO, Pentax K7, Sony A700, and each time at the High ISO 1600 or higher the D90 seemed to always win. However, I think the closest Competition for the D90 would be the Sony A700 as it seemed pictures were good at High ISO 1600 or Higher, BUT ONLY AFTER Sony done a Bug fix on the Camera with the Latest Version Upgrade V4. I will update after a couple of weeks use

We bought this camera for our son who is 23 and a talented photographer. He has an assortment of lenses and takes professional quality pics with it. It's your basic Nikon that has endless possibilities. Sonny boy loves it!

After almost a year of research and soul searching I finally jumped in and purchased the D90. It was the right decision for me because it allows for great photography in auto mode while I learn and gives me room to grow as I expand my photography skills. I waffled between the D60 and D90 for months and the decision came down to the D90s ability to work with an expanded lens selection.In making this decision I connected with a few friends also looking to buy D-SLRs. We all ended up making different decisions based on our individual needs. For me, the extra capabilities of the D90 were well worth the extra money.

This was an upgrade for me and I never regretted the purchase. I have shot weddings, family photo's, and individual shots with this professionally and I have been totally happy with it.

Me and my son in law bought this camera for my daughter as a Christmas gift. She loves it and is more picture crazy than she was. The product got here fast and in great shape. No tax and no shiiping fee was even better.

I have begun taking my photography more seriously and decided to upgrade from a D50. I was not disappointed. This is an excellent camera. Buttons on the outside relate to functions that I need to change without having to go through menus like on the D40. Being a Nikon user already made it really easy to begin using the camera right out of the box. More advanced features were not difficult to learn and were pretty straight forward to pick up, making it a great model to upgrade to. The kit lens is fair, nothing special but a good piece of starter glass to go with the camera. If you have other compatible lenses and don't need anything in that range, I would recommend just buying the body only.I didn't buy this camera for the video mode and am glad I didn't. In my opinion, DSLRs should be used for stills and not try to combine video. The sound is poor and focus is manual making it quite limited. Its a nice feature to use on occasion. Even though I didn't buy it with this mode in mind these limitations prevented the D90 from getting a 5 star review.

The Nikon D90 is outstanding. My family can't believe the pictures that I'm taking since I got the camera. The camera has a lot of bells and whistles. It's takes a good time learning the camera but it's worth it. Would recommend this camera for anybody that enjoys a well constructed camera.

I'm not a professional photographer, I use my camera as a hobby. This is the first major upgrade in a digital camera for me in ten years. Yeah I know, I know. But I waited until the right camera, with the right amount of megapixels for the right price came out. I don't like buying gear every three or four years becuse I just want to have it.So why I choose this the Nikon D90 camera?I get a camera that is fast enough (very important for me) so I don't miss a shot.I want to be creative with my photgraphy, and wanted lots of features.When I need to do large poster prints, I can do that with the high 12.3MP count. (I had 3.5MP with a point and shoot before this!)It's the right size for my hands! Very important. I never see anyone address this issue when shopping for a camera. I have large hands and long fingers, a small camera is very difficult to work with and is not very comfortable. Do yourself a favor go to any store and put the camera in your hands before you buy it! Does it feel solid in your hand? Are your fingers cramped? Is it to heavy or to light?The Movie mode was the tie breaker that made the difference between Nikon D90 and the Canon 50D.The Nikon D90 is more camera than I know how to useright now, but as you will notice from other users who have bought non prosumer cameras in the past they grow out of them fast. I'll have this camera until they come out with 36MP cameras (when ever that is). I'm looking forward to having this camera for many years and building my collection of lens slowly but shurly.

This Camera is excellent, my wife has a Nikon D80 and she tells me the D90 has more functionallity, color control and the live view is excellent option. I bought separetly a lens (the 18-200 mm nikon lens) and the combination was perfect.Be carefull you need Adobe Photoshop CS3 o CS4 with camera raw updated to work with RAW Files from this camera or Nikon Capture NX, but the camera comes with ViewNX software that help you with the basics RAW file options.Other great feature is if you have parts (battery, grips, memories, flashes, etc.) from D80 camera you can use them in your D90. For the functionallity and features, its price is ok. I recomend a lot of this camera. I hope to publish photos soon.Thanks a lot

intuitive, pro quality. easy choice for a pro or entry level. I like it cause it uses my lenses and it grabs more at higher ISO settings. Was smashing at christmas in available light.Just wait til I introduce it to my tripod!

I have a D40 and a D60 and was about to purchase a D5000, but after looking at all the reviews I could find of each model, I chose to add the D90 to my collection...so glad I did. The quality is great for the price, and the pictures are amazing. I have added a wide angle (11-18) lens and I am so impressed with the results. I belong to a retro Thunderbird club, and getting 70 T-Birds in a clear concise photo was a major concern. Even large prints of the pics I took are of poster quality...which means, blown up, much detail can be seen. Great camera!

I'm officially in love with this camera. I moved up from a Canon point and shoot. The photos I've taken so far are fantastic! The learning curve of this camera is definitely not for a beginner, but the Auto modes do help quite a bit. I've realized just how many different ways there are to royally mess up a photo!The kit lens (18-105mm) is suitable for most situations, but lacks the length to really zoom in on something far away. Macro shots work nicely with this lens, as do portraits and landscapes. Fireworks were no problem with a tripod, but shooting a wedding hand-held at dusk/twilight was too much for the slower f/3.5-5.6 lens, even with VR turned on. Had to use a flash as it got darker.My next purchase will probably be a 50mm f/1.4 prime lens for faster shots and more crisp portraits, then the 105mm Micro-Nikkor for macro shots.

I wanted a very good DSLR , looked the D300 and Canon 50D but I inclined to NIKON .Then the D90 came to the market and I was a little confused and a couldnt decide betwen both D300 and the D90The differences are just a few and I can live with out them. The body construction, SD card(D90) instead Compact flash (D300) 11 point for Auto focus instead 50 ...The price difference allows me to buy an extra battery, memory cards a good caring case, filters, different accessories and in the near future the GPS unit (I'm waiting the releasing from NIKON)The only difference that bothers me a little is that the D90 grip is a little small for me in comparison from the D300 but besides that everything is fine. For this issue you can buy the Nikon MB-D80 Multi-Power Battery Pack, but don't think this will increase the the shoots per second you can take as in the D300, only increases the battery duration and allows you to use AA batteries, also gives you a vertical position shutter button.Very easy to use and understand ALL the functions and buttons, not complicated menus.I bought the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX (the same that comes with the D300 KIT) instead the one that comes with the with because I wanted a more powerful lens and also I read as this lens is better quality and believe me IT IS AMAZINGIf your are not pro and only want a VERY GOOD DSLR professional style this is a good and wonderful option, believe meYou'll no regret

Over all the Camera is good. it takes great pics and the quality is good. But my camera is just 2 months old and it already started acting up. The most annoying was, I see the error F-- very often right in the middle of taking pictures.. i went through all online blogs and tried everything and the problem still persists.. I think lot of people are having this issue, Is Nikon aware of it and doing anything about it?.

My wife is the photographer I'm just the farm animal that carries her gear. She loves the D90 and has wanted one for some time. I've heard nothing but praise about the product from her and her camera club so I'm happy I got her something she wanted for her Birthday.

perfect buy for a first or 2nd DSLR, the body does it all and the lens takes it further. only thing i would recommend is to buy a $5-$15 lens filter just for protection, but thats recommended for all lenses. other then that start collecting your accessories. extra batteries, SD cards and readers, cable remote, ect...the final selling feature that's over looked it the flash,it sits nice and high to get over the large lens that it ships with in the kit, unlike the d60 and d40/d40x. These cameras have lower sitting lenses due to the fact that, they do not have as much of a distance to cover to prevent lens shadow (they ship with smaller lenses in their kits)
