The menus are far easier to learn and control than many have stated. RTFM, people. Once you get it, it is easy to remember.
Finally, I was disappointed to find out that one of the included rechargeable batteries had DOA'd on me shortly after receiving the set from Amazon. I e-mailed Midland on their website and never got any reply other than a brand new battery in the mail about a week and a half later. Thank you, Midland.
And YES, getting the "camo" version simply means that if you drop your radio in the woods, good luck finding it! Not just that, but the camo hides them well around the house too! ;)

Boom mic is a little uncomfortable, but works well. Sound is clear and loud.

However, the 2nd reason I bought them is we are going camping in June and I want to be able to use them for the same reason, to keep in contact and check on the kids. Where will be camping we will be in a cabin and of course there is going to be trees all around us. So I am praying that we have just as good of experience with these there as we are at home.

Overall the radios are fairy heavy-duty. Like the option to use AA batteries if rechargeable pack dies. Charger does both radios at the same time, even with the car charger adapter. Love the locking clip on the battery cover to keep it from popping off accidentally, even when dropped.

i will not go into the range and all the technical aspects on these because the info is already here on amazon through other reviews but what i will tell you is that i read every review on amazon of both the midland radios and motorola radios. i compared the features and after a few days of research midland wins!

Setup is a pain you first enter the menu mode and are given about 20 different options. None are particularly easy to understand here are a few examples of what shows up and what it means.
gr = group, wow this one makes sense!
vox = voice act. 2 that make sense!
bp = silent operation, wouldn't that be so in common sense land?
of = dual channel monitor, DC would have made more sense wouldn't it?
pr = power level, what the screen won't display a L?
I am uploading a picture of Midlands "menu layout". I will admit I am not the smartest person out there my day job consists of wiring and building networks and installing systems into business and high end homes. But when I look at this diagram I just have to scratch my head and wonder, Why? What was going through their heads when they designed these.
Quality wise they are pretty good they feel sturdy. I prefer the talk button on the motorola radios as it stand proud of the surface a bit more and I think its easier to hold down compared to these.
Dollar for dollar these are much less expensive than the mv11c's and that's really the reason for buying them. Range wise I do think that the FCC should force manufacturers to be "realistic" I can get 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile out of them and that's in normal suburban residential use, I find it hard to believe that even in what they call "ideal" terrain (flat area or on water) that they would even come close to their supposed range.
pros
price
good build quality

nice dual charger
very good belt clip
cons
range is ok no way its gonna work over a mile
