great set i got 4 of these and they work great even past 36 mile range just make sure if you purchasing these to check if u need a permit i had to get a permit to use these cost me 50 bucks a year

I am glad I read the reviews ahead of time so I wasn't surprised by the limited range. We took these to Cost Rica since we knew our cell phones wouldn't work there. It was great to have when the family split up during walks and still needed to keep in touch. We could usually get a mile or so until we lost contact. The dense forest in the area was partly to blame. Also, when I go out kayaking, I can still keep in touch with my family on the beach. Obviously greater range over the water. Didn't want to risk the cell phone. For our purposes, these have been great.

Range medium. use easy. Value great. Range is about 10-15 km in heavy terrain. I would recommend them to hunters and anyone who needs a reliable durable radio.

We have brought Midland radios before and have been very pleased with them. This set after 2 weeks, one radio stopped transmitting. We have sent it back to the factory and are waiting for the product to come back.

The radios work very well, and were a great value. I gave them 4 stars because you almost need to carry the instruction manual with you in the woods to use the different features.

I purchased this product for use in my new Mazda miata most often at highway speeds with the top down. Bought an audio cord elsewhere allowing me to pipe the walkie-talkie audio output into the car stereo auxillary jack utilizing the car speakers for better clarity and volume. All results were highly satisfactory except I am only able to transmit with one of the two units. Once this problem is resolved the Midland radios should meet or exceed my expectations -- loaded with features at an affordable price.

The article did not bring it lacks the one package. instructions, 2. headphones and 3. one click. like going to sell something without instructions and announce something not included. also what about the original price page ask a refund.

I expect exaggerated claims by marketing people, but the 36 mile claim should be 3.6 miles on flat ground with no obstructions. If you're lucky. Car to car communication between OK and CA at varying distances, varying road height (including flat straight line of sight), and small town to large city obstructions provided opportunities for experimenting. The best distance with full charged batteries, the power set to high, and using the recommended channels for the best distance, the best we could get out of them was 3.5 miles. In an urban environment this dropped to 100 yards in some spots. In a suburban residential area the best we could get was a mile. Most of the time 1/2 mile was the standard. We have the DC charger in addition to the AC chargers, so kept them charged to max.
The other big disappointment was volume. Anything less than full volume (without the earpiece) was no volume. It might as well been an on/off switch. Using the headphones this improved a little, but not enough to be much better than an on/off switch. This was inside a car with the windows up and no music playing. If parked, it got a little better but any road noise from passing vehicles easily overwhelmed the capabilities of their volume.
I bought two sets of two. One of the batteries arrived DOA, new in the box. Not covered by the "warranty".
Both of these issues have been significant enough to warrant the time to write this as a warning for others.
All the positive reviews here was what swayed the decision to buy them. Someone somewhere obviously has been happy with them. But the range and volume limitations we have experienced are at the least false advertising and for us make them of very limited value.
On the upside, they work better than the toy walkie talkies I had as a kid 50 years ago.

I purchased the two way radio to assist with the Christmas play at church. They worked well. The reception on both ends were clear and the hands free options were a absolute positive.

We bought these radio's to use when we ride our ATV'S . They work great, they are clear easy to use. The ear piece is a little hokey, but works just fine. We saw these on Fisher's outdoor world.

I didn't expect that it would go 36 miles unless i was standing on mount Everest.
It works fine for what i need it for, for under 2 miles on installing equipment in buildings and not having to use a cell all the time.

My wife and I use these radios to speak to each other while bicycling. No need to yell or stay close to each other.

Grandkids liked them on Christmas but with snow fakking, not sure how much range they have. Batteries probably needed charged more but lost contact aftr a couple hundred yards.

The product was shipped in a timely fashion and was exactly as advertised. Have used the radios a few times now and am very pleased with them. Wouldn't hesitate to buy Midland radios again.

This is one of the best GMRS radios around.
I not only purchased it for myself, but my community has purcased many of them to be used in emergencies.

I use this for kayaking. I attach this to my lifejacket and occasional get drops of water from my paddles. Microphone is not working on one of these devices now.
