I purchased 3 sets of these radios for my business and I am so disappointed. The batteries will not charge on 3 of the units. All 6 of the units work sporatically. I chose these units because of the name and what I was told they would do and I'm here to tell you that I could have gotten MUCH cheaper units that would probably have been better. I would definitely NOT recommend this to anyone.

Nice product. Perfect for camping and hiking. Decent range for the price and small enough to fit in a back pocket or use the clip that comes with them.

Nice radios was disappointed in the distance, for I was only able to get about 1-1 1/2 miles distance out of them.

These radios definitely work long distance and make it anywhere in our brick building, which is what we were looking for, however my shredder and computer speakers turn on every time I use mine in my office...trade offs...fortunately we don't use them terribly often. The ear pieces are not ideal and we'd look for something next time that was wireless maybe and had a short cord that could clip to your shirt collar or something, but that was not something we were thinking about when we purchased these either. We were able to figure out the directions easy enough and so far have had no serious problems with their function. They perform as expected and have enough features to make them useful and handy, but without too many for our needs making them over-complicated. It's a good product and decent deal for the money. Four stars may have been generous considering the "cons" were minor but it's not something that makes me feel "wow" about my purchase either.

Doesn't work well with other makes. But customer service really helpful. Battery life better than others, strong plastics and really good reception for use insides a warehouse.

I use about 9 of them to keep track of clients in Yosemite National Park. Of course, you cannot get 37 miles on these, and I don't know where they get those ridiculous ranges, but 5 miles is definitely doable, even through trees. If you are familiar with Yosemite, I can reach my clients anywhere in the eastern end of the valley starting at Swinging Bridge and over to Mirror Lake broadcasting from Sentinel Bridge. They use batteries quickly though, I get maybe 3 days with Alkaline batteries. Forget the internal rechargeables... they are useless. Also, from high atop Glacier Point I get all over the valley from about Cathedral Beach over to Mirror Lake, as you would expect. Small, powerful and sturdy... LOVE these...

Battery pack is low end. I prefer using eneloop nimh with a smart charger.
DIRECTIONS - be prepared to spend some time getting familiar with all of the functions... then doing it again after a long period of non use.
Over all they are good radios for the price. Just wish the accessories were more suitable.

The radios do exactly that they advertise . . . .but not ofcourse the range. The reception is very clear, the headsets are comfortable, the instrument gives the feel of being solidly constructed. Best feature is the excellent battery-live. I would not have believed it. The only minus is the poor manual, small, incomplete and poorly explained terminology. Thus "only" 4 stars.

I bought this for my son. He has been wanting this model for some time and decided to get it for him for his birthday. When he opened it , he was excited. He said it was perfect, everything he expected it to be. Hasn't had a chance to try it out yet, except in the house. But seems to be a very true description!

No issue with Amazon but--I intenionally paid more for these thinking I would get more range. The 36 mile range is about 1.5 with static! The manual suggested line of sight but who lives on a mountain top and always talks to someone on another mountain top. Only part of the channels are actually usable as the FCC has control of 15 of them and it cost close to $100 dollars to get a liscense. Another 11 channels are set to low power, per FCC regs. and who knows those ranges, 1000 ft.Midland GXT1000VP4 36-Mile 50-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) (Black/Silver) All in all I would say I wasted $40.00 on better radios and got nothing better! The info on these radios needs to be more complete and honest.

we purchased this product for cruise and it worked well for the most part but I was disappointed that the 36mile was deceiving. It did not work when the kids were on the other side of the boat. I have no complaint on the actual product, just the distance.

Got One Mile Inside the house to a Driving car. Works for about a Mile in wooded hilly terrain. Havent tried line of sight but how many times will you do that? Weather works great even while driving for 150 mile rides. Battery lasts a long time Have put 2 hours on them and still plenty of charge. Listen to alot of weather. Winter now. lol Great for wooded areas will no Cell Phone Coverage. Hiking ,Fishing.Dog Walks

Product is still a good value for the price but does not transmit NEARLY as far as listed. The BEST I've been able to get in an urban enviornment is 2.5 mi. I really didn't expect 36 miles, but come on! Less than 10% of the listed distance isn't good enough.

I had these for 3 yrs now. They work awsome and the privacy codes are great. Remember when a two way radio says they are good for a certain range.. dont expect close to that with any radio. If over flat water or a lake you might get that range. Im a outfitter and these radios take a beating!! Work like new. I would reccomend these.

Works well. It does almost everything it claims. Where my disappointment came was testing the item in a residential area and was only capable of hearing someone only a few blocks away. I must admit I was hoping for at least a 2 mile radius in a residential area but the interference I guess was to much. Overall this product is sturdy and comes with everything you need to use right out of the box.

These are really good radios with a lot of nice features. I've used them several times, in the country, in the city and kayaking on the bay and they've always worked well. When I say that the range is limited, I just mean that their range is limited in the same manor as other radios, line of site. If you were on a mountain top, talking to someone else on another mountain top, these should have enough power to muscle the 36 miles. I live in an area with hills and valleys and if these work past a mile or so I count myself lucky. Otherwise, their just really good radios, with a lot of usable features and good sound quality.
