Have really enjoyed ours, so sent them to sister and daughter and have enjoyed communicating this way--sometimes the picture is not clear or the words come after the mouth in real time; but for the most part very satisfied.

This is my first review ever for any gadgets that I've got in the pass 15 years. I don't usually write reviews and especially I am no Microsoft fan. But I am telling you this product does make me want to spread out the good side of it.I was skeptical when I first saw the camera in the local Frys store. I want to pick up a camera that will work on both Windows & OSX platform. I have the PC version of Logitech 9000 setup on my Mac mini, basic functions are support but of course the fancy part is in the Windows side since software support was there. My requirement on the Mac side is low, as long as it's a UVC camera which is support by Skype and iChat and I am good. Logitech is good but I just want to try something different.When I saw the Lifecam Cinema, it caught my eyes because of the look. It has resemblance of the Apple iSight but of course the color is different. The build is definitely no cheap quality plastic. It was made out of aluminum! Look is great but I wasn't sure if it's a UVC camera. But what the heck, in case it didn't work, I will just return it!Plug it into my OSX86 snow leopard (hackintosh), camera works right out of the box with no extra kext installed, so I can confirm it's a UVC camera. Quality under OSX is definitely acceptable, both Skype & iChat can detect and use the camera. The microphone works with no issue as well.On the Windows side, definitely no issue whatsoever, Windows 7 doesn't even require me putting the CD into the drive for the Lifecam software. It pulled from MS server automatically. Quality is great for this price and there is no way the logitech can beat this under normal light condition. But Lifecam does suffer smear under low light condition compare to Logitech 9000. For me, my webcam requirement is low compare to others but under the condition of my usage, it already provided me better than expected performance. I highly recommend this for causal user like me. Of course heavy user might still point out weakness of the camera. IMHO, $60 can't buy a whole lot these days but Lifecam definitely worth every single penny out of it.

This camera is the the best! I did a video call with my buddy and he said the video looked amazing! I've tried a few different webcams, but never seen anything that looks this good. If you install the software you get extra features (and can record at 720 High Definition!), but it works right out of the box just by plugging it in! The design on this camera is also sweet. All my friends love it.

Great image, auto focus and easy to use. There is one real shortcoming in the software/driver. It does not enable the user to switch to a mirror image mode. Consequently, viewing yourself for a photo capture, video, or even seeing your own image in Skype drives you nuts. It appears that you are moving the opposite direction. I do not understand how Microsoft could have overlooked this.

This is a great camera. My company uses Skype for video conferencing and interviews. We have purchased these camera's for all the field employees in our company and use them quite a bit. The quality is really good and clear!

i ordered this webcam for my wife when i was in egypt so i could see our 1 year old baby girl. This camera is really clear and crisp there is no lag when a person moves and it has auto focus. This is a really good step up in the web cam technology and i would highly reccomd it to all for a good solid clear cameraMicrosoft LifeCam Cinema 720p HD Webcam (Black)

This camera looks sleek and modern and much smaller than the package picture portrays. Installation is quick and easy. Just download the current software directly from Microsoft website. You can skip the Windows Live Essentials option if you do not intend to use Windows Live video conferencing.I have a ten years old Dell Dimension XPS B1000R Desktop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel Pentium 3, 1 Gig Processor, 512 MB RAM, Nvidia Geforce Dual Graphic Card with 64 MB of Video Memory. The Camera works fine on Skype and Logitech Vid Video Conferencing programs. It does not work well on Google Video Chat: audio works but no video. On Skype and Logitech Vid you can manipulate the Camera positions directly from the software. Video quality is good even under poor lighting condition.The intriguing thing to me is that even though this Camera displays a tiny 160 X 120 Video on the Monitor I am unable to capture Video with it using the Lifecam software. Each time I try it reports error. I can capture still picture but not video and so unable to use it for video reviews on amazon or Youtube. When running off the Lifecam software the only resolution it displays is 160X120 and the camera position controls are unavailable.Please note that you are better off turning off the automatic controls especially if you tend to move a lot while chatting to minimize blurry images. The Camera stand wobbles a bit on my LCD but it would not tip over under normal conditions. Lens has no cover and so no privacy moment and may collect some dust if the camera is left mounted for extended period.

Installed fine out of the box, but on my Windows 7 Professional it would not allow me to set the resolution to anything other than the minimum. I did a quick search online and MS claims that the cam needs .Net enabled, which it is, still not good. Found a bunch more threads on issues, and to be honest I don't have the time to play with DLLs or remove other USB devices just to get a silly MS webcam to work. Sending it back.

A web cam is a web cam is a web cam, right? Well, not exactly. I've messed around with a few web cams in the past, all of which had less than stellar picture quality. Life Cam is easily the best web-cam I've used. It's actually affordable and it's in 720P-hd no less. Well, let's not jump the gun. It does do 720P but it doesn't do it to the full capabilities some would expect or want. It's a feature you'd probably find yourself not using since the resources it takes to actually run it and calibrate it are a little daunting. I'm actually willing to bet that many who bought this cam just got it as a web cam and nothing more. And it is "just a web cam" but it's a damn good one.As I said, many probably don't even know how to get the thing calibrated right to even take advantage of the higher end options the device has. And that's fine. Because at the end of the day, this is the best web cam you can buy for the price. Sub-HD. Buy it and don't regret it. If you use a webcam for shows. Talking on skype. Animating. Whatever you use it for... This will do the trick.(side note) Make sure you TURN OFF THE AUTO FOCUS... IF YOU DON'T YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE A FIT TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT'S BROKEN. Many people assume it's broken cause it keeps zooming in and out. It's not broken it's just got a little too high setting for the auto focus out of the box.

The Best!!A HD webcam at this price..its the best price..although I am not a tech..but I don't need to install all of the craziness for audio and video,unless your doing a TV commercial but I am not... the audio is clear and very very crisp.. I am a simple chick on a simple budget and its worth the money if u need a quick quality hd cam then act now and purchase it!!!..and its so tiny,about the size of an average size female thumb,I'm serious! this little life cam is so small I was so SURPRISED!..its so cute..this little thingy is very powerful though.You will Love,Love,Love,Love! plus the fun entertaining stuff to make your head and face look all bugged out if you know what I mean,I don't use it anyway..but its cute,and it has a flexi hanger where you can hang it just about anywhere..so that's real good,I recorded a video doing just about the craziest thing like moving fast,jumping up and down..it doesn't skip..the lifecam auto adjusts on its own, it takes about 2-3secs to do so,I have no complaints as long as its doing its job so that's cool..the software for it to me on a W7..I have no complaints..I Like the cam..I was skeptical about it because of a video review I saw but I am not trying to get that creative with a webcam if so,then I'll purchase a camcorder for all its worth.so There You Go You Shoppers! Like I said,simple to exactly what I wanted!

Microsoft LifeCam CinemaThis web cam is quite the bargain. At right around fifty dollars it really is quite good for the money. I'm running it on a Windows 7, 64 bit OS. Its software installed easily and works as expected. No issues at all for me. The included software has some "cool" features like being able to animate additions to your face. Like a mask, or playing with your facial features, like enlarging your eyes. This will keep your related children (i.e. grandkids) in stiches. I'm uploading a fully haired picture of me!The quality of the camera structure is quite good. It reminds me of the old Apple iSight webcam, except its black and says Microsoft. It mounts on just about any monitor with ease. The stand is flexible and will balance on the top of the monitor well. My monitor has a USB hub built in so my only wish was a short cable as a detachable option for such cases. That said the cable is long enough to reach most any placement of a computer. It works well with Skype or the Messenger program from Windows. This is what I tested it with; it should work with any program that recognizes a webcam. It's a great little camera! Highly recommended.

well...where do i begin othan than saying this is only the greatest web cam i have ever had. I do a lot of skyp-ing cause i have relatives in canada and this is great for that i also use yahoo messenger and msn hotmail and it works great the picture qual;ity is perfect only one problem...it takes forever to focus somethng upclose and in low light it focus's itself a lot but other than that no complains the sound quality is good for most but for me i dont care how it picks up every little noise like if i click the mouse the person on the other end can hear it. i have not used the video making feature yet but i plan on it i tried it for a couple mins and it was in good quality. One other problem is that they have an option to put like hats and silly faces on your cam screen and you can only do it through there disc you cant do it if your on skype or any other messenger program basically what the point of having it(i guess to take pictures i dont know!) as for the size of the cam it is great i thought it was going to be big and clunky like most but its not it is small and compact and it is great to take on the go (i just wish they would have made like a carrying case for it or something)but all around i am happy wih it! great product! and a good brand to buy "Microsoft"!

I'm a big Skype user and have used the QuickCam Pro 9000 for quite some time. While Skype doesn't recognize this Microsoft cam as an "HQ" cam (or at least not yet, if ever), I have found that this cam excels as compared to the QuickCam Pro 9000 in three ways:1. This cam produces much richer colors. Some may say it borderlines oversaturated or "technicolor" but I really enjoy the brilliance of the colors2. Low light conditions keep rich and bright color. I find with the QuickCam it loses contrast to brighten up the picture.3. Launch time. I find with the Quickcam Pro 9000 the "ramp up/turn on" time is undesirably long when receiving an auto answer Skype call. This cam is ready to go immediately.As far as focusing goes, both the QickCam Pro 9000 and this cam aren't great at it in dark lighting conditions.The widescreen view is a really nice change from the normal 4:3 perspective. It really helps show your surroundings more and give a better feel to where you are.Installation was easy, and the cam itself seems far smaller than I was expecting.Under some conditions Skype callers on the receiving end prefer this video over the HQ Skype capable Quickcam Pro 9000. In some cases they prefer the Quickcam.I saw that some people mentioned the high hardware requirements so I wanted to let you know what I'm using it on:Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bitCore i7 2.663 GB memoryI'm not going to outright say that this is a better webcam than the QuickCam Pro 9000 but it definitely gives it a run for it's money, and offers a few unique features that the QuickCam Pro 9000 does not, all in a smaller more attractive cam size & style.---update--After several months of use, I have found that I'm using this cam more than the Logitech Quick Cam 9000. They're both equal in stature in my mind, but this one is better at low light use. I often Skype at night when the room is comfortably dim, so this has become my preferred camera. Even though it's not listed as an HQ cam for Skype, it still provides better overall performance for the way I use it.

Ok, I admit I am picky about any camera- and web cams have a bad reputation. This one is well worth a look, particularly as MS seems to have solved the low light issues that can really make things ugly.This unit is high quality, and is far superior to the built in cam's on my Laptop,and Netbook. Simple to install and makes the Skype experience better, as well.Most web cams suffer in normal inside lighting conditions ( to a level that you need a bright light focused on you to look "normal"). This product compensates for lower light conditions very well- impressive!I also like the ease of use, right out of the box. I detest things that require lengthy downloads of drivers or software to work properly. Not a problem with this one, it works well, right out of the box.I also put this product to the acid test. Yup. The parents, in their 70's. Both have laptop's, netbooks and a desktop that they share on occasion. They are savvy, but are slow to add most any software or hardware for fear of "messing up the machine".They both had complained about poor picture quality for their existing cam's -- guess what? This one was so much better, we were in buy mode.They are happy to broadcast in HD! All, in all this is a good product, great as a gift or perhaps as an upgrade to an existing cam. Best part: Easy, Easy, Easy!

I'm the first to admit to being technically challenged so I ordered this with some trepidation in the "if something can go wrong, it will" mode.Took me a few days to get it installed properly and figure out how to use it, but now that I've mastered this (and it retrospect the installation was simple, the problems were me) here are my impressions as a techno-challenged individual:This Lifecam is intended primarily to communicate with my nana-babies. It works wonderfully in low light as well as regularly lit rooms. The picture is so clear that I can see the blue of my eldest granddaughter's eyes and it is true to color. The colors come out wonderfully. I've used the Lifecam several times to read stories to them. There is a bit of glare if the lighting isn't right, but reading board books like Elmo and his friends--the pictures are crisp and clear to the nana-babies and the colors are true to the book. There is also very little smear when the kids jump up and move to show me various treasures they have at their home. The kids are also able to see the wolfhounds who sleep on the day bed behind me in clear, crisp focus. Sound quality is also excellent!This is an excellent camera if you want to talk via a webcam. I've not gotten into some of the other uses I've seen in the other reviews posted (recording video, YouTube etc), but plan to experiment more in the future as I become more confident of my skills with this new technology (for me).

When I purchased this webcam, it said it was supported by Win XP service pack 2. After I got it, I found out that it was not compatible with Win XP 64 bit, no matter what service pack you had. Shortly thereafter Microsoft made a disclaimer that Win XP 64 Bit was exempt from the OS supported. AND Microsoft IS NOT going to fix the problem. Those of us who have XP 64, are just out there on our own. Poor customer support and planning on Microsoft's end.

I adore this camera! It was extremely easy to install, and I was pleasantly surprised by the image quality. Skyping is much better now than it was with my older Logitech camera. For the price, this is an extremely great value. A no fuss camera that works exactly as you'd want it to. I wish it was a tad smaller, but it's not much of an issue. I was glad to get a chance to test this out and my sister ended up buying the same one because she loved the quality as well. Not sure how compatible it is with Macs, but with Windows it worked beautifully.

When it first arrived it was much smaller then I expected which sort of worried me at first but have no fear sometimes good things "really" do come in small packages. I had the camera installed and up and running in about five minutes so even the least advanced pc newbie should have no problem with installation. The video, photo, and audio quality of this camera is the best I have ever owned yet and I've owned atleast ten different webcams over the years looking for the right one and I am pleased to say that the search is finally over! This camera also comes with some awesome software too! The software has visual effect features that can do all kinds of crazy stuff to your photos and videos that is easy for anyone to use. For example you can click one effect button and it appears like there are two of you in the video or photo. Overall there are about twenty crazy weird effects to play with and each of them only require one click of the mouse. Over all the simplicity of use and the quality of this webcam are awesome and I would highly suggest this webcam for beginners and experienced users alike!

I wanted to do a video review, as seeing is truly believing but didn't have a video fine saved...I bought this webcam along with the Logitech 9000 HD and this one by far is the BEST video cam I have ever used!! My boyfriend & I have a long distance relationship & practically live on Skype when we aren't together...well this cam definitely gets the job done!! We are having a blast with it just about every night & I STRONGLY recommend it to all seeking a great webcam for a decent price. The video & sound quality are both EXCELLENT & we are very happy we selected this one after checking out many others that just didn't cut it. The mount / attachment is extremely versatile & easy to clip. The Carl Zeiss lens is a major plus & the fact that it's made of glass. It ought to be ranked the BEST little webcam of all!! A SUPER AWESOME PRODUCT AT A GREAT BUY ~ THANK YOU!!Microsoft LifeCam Cinema!!

I just recieved this webcam yesterday, and I am at my wits end, first the download was a failure, thank goodness I called a buddy thats more techie than I am, he searched out an updated download for me and that did work, but I cannot get this webcam to work with Windows Live Messenger.I do get my video on my screen, the video looks great, the colors are amazing plus the fact it's widescreen, but when I tried to have a video chat using windows live messenger it's a no go, my friend and I tried everything to solve the problem and nothing helped, and worse of all, there is no way of finding tech support for this webcam from microsoft, first they want your PID (Product Identification Number) to see if they will charge you or not, but there is no product ID number, no where on the box or disc, just the S/N, Model Number and a Lot Number, and niether of those work as you need the Product Number, and there is no way on getting help from Microsoft to obtain one unless you call them by phone and of course for a charge, and that to me is a farce, the thing is less than 2 days old and I can't get any help without payment, they got to be kidding me.I know the camera works as I said before I do get my own image on my screen which looks great, but cannot video chat on-line, I'm so frustrated I'm getting ready to heave this thing out the window.

Nice product especially for the price. Thus far I have no problems with the web cam. I'd like to see it stay in focus while a person moves around, but when you move it goes out of focus for a short period of time.

I grabbed this cam when Amazon was selling it for around $48. I run it under Windows XP on a dual-core AMD system and use Skype for most of my video calling. The images from this cam are outstanding. Also, the digital sound is perfect, with no hiss or squeal that some have reported. I have found that the Skype high-quality video is perfectly supported by the camera, with about 25-30 frames per second. This produces a fine picture at the other end, one that can be expanded to full screen without degradation of the picture quality. Blurring is minimized by the high frame rate. The auto-focus works perfectly, with the ability to focus down to one inch from the subject. Low-light functionality is very good....one has to remember that this is a sub $50 webcam!! I know there is a method to hack the Skype config file to force Skype to push out all 720 lines of resolution....I have not done this successfully yet, but the normal Skype high-quality image is superior to anything I have seen from any other cam. This cam will support the full HD capability once Skype or some other application offers it. I did not load the included software, since native XP drivers support the cam.

The camera works great. It was easy to install, and easy to use. The only problem is when you move to fast, the camera spends a little time trying to focus, but it's still a good bargain for your money. Also, the video capture doesnt seem to play back very well. I recorded a 30 minute video and played it back and towards the end, the sound went out. Not sure why, but it might be an insufficient Ram problem with my computer. Either way, still a good camera.

I have been a Apple geek for a long time the only other computers I have ever bought was an IBM 10 mhz and a Dell poweredge server. I have been without a web cam for a while, I have used my camcorder (via firewire) for my video needs and decided to go to HD with this cam. I read the reviews and watched some of the Youtube vids and decided to buy it. I had my doubts about Microsoft, but for the first time I was impressed by the reviews.As usual the shipping was prompt. The product packaging seemed a bit excessive, but once out of the box the cam looked great. The camera hocked up to my Mac Mini (Snow Leopard) without any need to change any settings, Quicktime, iChat, Gawker, Macam, Skype no problem whatsoever. Parallels Desktop running Ubuntu picked up the cam without a problem also.I like the design and the size. The cable is plenty long and the mount is perfect. I can't find anything physically wrong with this camera. Good quality video for talking heads with some motion smearing and not the greatest in low light, but for the money you just can't beat the quality and performance. If all Microsoft products performed like this I would probably buy a lot more.

I had been looking for a webcam for my laptop and am so happy to have received this Microsoft LifeCam Cinema. After using this device for a few months now, I have to say it works great. I mainly use this to connect with my family via Skype and haven't had any problems so far.The webcam was easy to install and the software, while a bit lackluster, is fine for my uses. I really like the size of this model. It's not too clunky and it rests easily on my laptop with its adjustable gripper. Because of the gripper, if you need to move the camera around while skyping (to showcase a room, animals, etc)you can easily unclip it and then reclip again when your are stationary.The camera consistently gives me clean, crisp, widescreen images. I honestly can't say I've had a problem with this camera yet!If you need a easily portable camera for your laptop or computer, check this one out. It's worth it!

First the picture is super clear, second, it looks great because the frame is 16:9 style. I set this up on my PC at the office, I must have sold about 10 of them just by seeing how clear it looks when they are just walking by. Setting up the software is EASY, if you have WIndows 7 you plug it in an you are done. Windows 7 not only recognizes the driver, but it downloads all the software and installs it for you. This is some technology.Some HD handheld cams I looked at could easily go $3000+, this is a great inexpensive replacement for doing presentions or creating content.If you have a slow junky PC, you will get a slow junky picture most likely. If you are using an old PC more than 5 years old, replace it because 5 year old PCs and CPUs take up more electricity.

I was comparing webcams and saw that my friend had this same one. She recommended it and when I looked on the web, this webcam received the best rating for price and quality. The item arrived on time and I had no trouble installing the software. I am extremely pleased that it works. The picture and sound are clear; when talking to friends and family on Skype, I always get compliments on how good the picture looks and how clear I sound (which is great since I speak fairly quietly). I highly recommend getting this webcam!

I bought this Camera for 2 reasons:A) I wanted a newer, more up to date HD web camera andB) It was made by Microsoft.Having read the Specs and Reviews, knowing that my ISP Connection Speedsare 3MB D/L and 768 U/L and that I use Windows 7 and Live Messenger,I deliberately preferred this over the latest Logitech Full HD Cameraand have been well rewarded by my choice.The Video quality is good at "720", the camera performs well in low light conditionsand the microphone picks up well at reasonable distances.I would have preferred not to have to install the software but the process was quickand it is easy to understand and use. The Auto Focus feature is not an issue for me aswe don't have "kids bouncing around" while using it."I bought this camera "on sale" from Amazon for $50 with free shipping..a great deal for this camera.

Purchased as a capture camera on a secure non-internet system. Microsoft in their god-like wisdom decided to require an internet connection to simply load the drivers. Once again, You cannot even load the software without the internet. Might be a good camera. Couldn't prove it by me.

I bought this camera after looking through some reviews and comparing the features with similar cameras. It was easy to install. Picture and sound quality are great. I use it with Skype and my friends are impressed with the quality of the video and I am not even using the full HD mode, which is one of the several options for video quality. $50 I paid is the money well spent for this camera and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I had a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 that would never work with win7. This worked right out of the box, as I expected it to. I haven't had any issues. I use it to skype and it works perfectly. For the price, this is a very good camera. When the logitech did work (for a minute or so) the quality wasn't as good as this, especially in low light.Glad I got over the Microsoft label and bought it. Usually, I don't buy Windows if I can help it. But, because of conflicts with win7 and Logitech, I was looking for something stable. This camera is better than I thought it would be and the software less intrusive than I thought it would be. I DO NOT use Windows Live. It is an option. You DO NOT have to use it.

I love this webcam. I was reading reviews, and everyone said it was awesome, but the reviews from people who used it on a Mac greatly varied (From a "must have" to a "get another product").So I bought the webcam and thought I could return it if it didn't work well on my Mac. I open it, plug it in, launch several different applications, and it works almost flawlessly. I'm using it on Mac OS X Snow Leopard, I heard that support on Leopard and Tiger isn't as good. I use it fine with BoinxTV, Dream Recorder, QuickTimeX, Skype, iChat and some other applications. For things like PhotoBooth, they expect a 4:3 (I think?) camera, so you are a little squished.The picture quality is awesome. It works well in low light and various lighting situations.I can't seem to get the 30 fps on my Mac, but for what I use it for, 15-24 fps is fine. I used it on both a macBook (2.16 GHz dual core with 2 GB ram) and an iMac (2.66 GHz dual core with 4 gb ram). Both of the computers used the webcam just fine.So how does it compare to the built in iSight? The iSight (the newer ones) can capture HD quality too (1280x1024; Lifecam Cinema 1280x720). The iSight is great if you have the right lighting conditions. In low light situations, there's a lot of noise and the colors aren't as vivid. With adequate light, the iSight is fine. So the Lifecam Cinema is awesome in the lighting situations that the iSight struggles in (like my dorm room).I really like this webcam. Works great on both Mac (tested in Snow Leopard) and Windows (tested in 7). Let's just say that I'm buying a few more of these for Christmas presents...

Bought this webcam to replace the HP webcam in my laptop that never worked that well. This camera has great features, easy to install, great low light performance and good color picture. The only drawback is that it occasionaly repeatedly goes thru the auto focus process when the picture is zoomed. Easily fixed by clicking the reset button in the tools menu or just operating in the normal view. I am running this camera on an HP2000 series laptop with a 2.0ghz dual core Intel processor and 2GB RAM with Vista.

The camera never would come into focus unless I was litterally an inch away. I bought a logitech for 40 dolars and it is crystal clear. Im sending back the microsoft.

I purchased this webcam a year ago and have been very pleased with the results. It's easy to use - just plug it in and go! The quality is terrific - I have the best picture of anyone I skype with. My only complaint is that it doesn't completely attach to the computer, so it can be wobbly sometimes.This is a great buy for anyone in the market for a webcam!

After making my first video with the LifeCam Cinema, I played it back and my ears were destroyed by a very high pitched static noise. I went into the settings to try and fix the said noise. I thought that maybe it was the noise cancellation making the high pitch sound, but there were no settings at all for the mic in the program... so now I'm stuck with a cam that completely drowns my voice out with an annoying high pitch screech...Other than that, the program itself is lacking and I think that they could have stepped it up a bit, but the cam itself is an okay cam. I like that it's HD, so that's definitely a plus.However, what's the point of making videos with it now ... when nobody can hear what I'm saying.Definitely a let down.

This is a great little web camera. Handles low light and contrasts very, very well and the motion is smooth. Even though the price is slightly higher than average the picture quality alone makes it a good bargain. The microphone is a bit disappointing (as has been noted by other reviewers). Voices are easy to understand but the sound is very bright and even brassy. Like talking through a tin can. No warm, rich radio tones from this baby mic.The stand is wide, stable, and flexible. The stands rubber coated metal was easy to bend to the shape I needed to sit on my monitor. Once in place it does not budge. A very good design whether you have a thin lcd, notebook, or a good old CRT.The software loads quickly and without issue on WinXP Pro and Vista 32 Home Premium. Plug in the extra long cable to a usb port when instructed to do so and there you are. Skype is very happy with this cam and we were ready to connect to a video call in less than 10 minutes. My other photo editing and image capture software also recognized the camera without any issues.My college age boys have really enjoyed goofing around with all the face distortions and features in the software. Their Mom will enjoy making them pan the new web cam around their apt to see how bad the cave looks. The zoom feature and distortion features will probably get a lot of use on their end of these calls.Spend a few dollars more and enjoy the quality of this webcam. It is well beyond the norm. Amazon service was prompt as usual and as promised. Enjoy.

ok well what can i say about this web cam, I can tell you this web cam rocks the first time you plug it and maybe a week after that.I have had this for about a month now and am alway getting comments on how clear i come in on skype and chats, so it is clear and really good for a person with a fast internet connection and a fast computer. I recommend at least a duel core proser 2ghz at least so it will record in it's full pixel function but if you have a slow internet such as 1 mbs not for you. I am running a 3 mbs with 3 or 4 computers online so 2 mbs is recommended if you are the only one online.I can not forget to tell you that you need to have good light in the room to use this cam, the cam will show you as dark randomly for some reason even when in light it will show me dark then light.Was I satisfied yes vary even though I have run into some bumps down the road, Would I recommend this cam Yes defiantly to others but remember that you need fast internet for chat and live stream and a fast computer to run at hd quality.

I am very impressed with this camera, not expecting to be excited about another web cam that I lost count buying through the years.They really took extra time with details, quality and ease of use. Even the flexible grip stand combo is by far most superior to what I have had to deal with in the past. It bend to fit anything as a clip or as a table top stand. Made of sturdy aluminum and a nice swivel to turn in any direction while the grip is still firmly in place. A nice long cord and an attached shortening rubber loop that will not fall off.But of course, the highlight here is the picture quality, and it is by far the best I have ever seen in a web cam. Picks up great image in any light and does everything great on a PC. You can take still photos, and film movies... great quality to show off your skin pours to the world!I also have a Mac, and it is not made for a Mac, however, since the disc would not work obviously, I simply put it into the USB, and it works perfectly with Photobooth and any other video or cam function. You just don't have the extra zoom control. But the picture is just as impressive. It is better than the iSight cam in a big way. But with a PC, the software is simple, and you don't need to learn anything to use it. A bargain at this price for the quality and function.

I picked this up for my teenagers to Skype with their grandparents; we use it on our end because the grandparents care about getting a good look at the kids more than the other way around. I have not had any previous webcam experience aside from the webcams that come built into laptops, but I found the Lifcam to be easy to set up and user-friendly. We had it working within 5 minutes. The software that comes with it is basic (comes with some 'special effects' stuff that is too babyish for my kids but which little ones would enjoy) but glitch-free. The picture quality is surprisingly great; I find it works best if you close other windows working on your computer. My parents are thrilled to get a clear look at my kids.BOTTOM LINE: Easy to set-up, easy to use, works reliably, has a great picture quality, and the grandparents are happy! I may not be an expert but, for my needs, there is no bad here.
