I bought this camera to do some streaming online with game footage (twitch.tv) using an application called Xsplit. Trying to get this to work with Xsplit gave me all sorts of issues. It would lock up my laptop to the point I needed a hard reboot. It also conflicted with the onboard camera so I couldn't use both at the same time.There's also a common issue with this camera where it will continuously refocus if you are on auto focus.All it did was lead to frustration. I got it to work a couple of times, but only after hours of fiddling and restarting to make sure that everything was just right.This is not a very good webcam for streaming... especially with Xsplit and I highly suggest going with Logitech instead. Any of them. I got one of the C310s and it was genuine plug and play, worked with Xsplit right away, and I could use both cameras at the same time in xsplit.

I purchased this camera with microphone because we are using Lync at work... The picture is HD, and I thought the resolution would be fine... because of our small monitor size. However, it is clear that other cameras purchased are much clearer and the sound better. I didn't spend too much - purchased this on Gold Box for about $30. Better cameras generally cost $20 more.This is a 'you get what you pay for' situation. Bottom line: Resolution is clearly lacking and sound is slightly better than the camera resolution. In comparison, the built in camera on my Dell laptop has better resolution and built-in mic has better sound. In retrospect, I wish I'd shelled out for a better camera.

I upgraded from a very cheep, very low grade webcam. I was hoping for a little better picture since this is an HD webcam, but it really is still a nice picture. No regrets in buying it!

Bought this to use with my ubuntu 11.10 box, and it worked like a charm. No need to install anything, it's truly plug and play. You can adjust camera settings with gucview, and you get a sharp image. The auto focus does go crazy every now and then, and you can turn it off using gucview - although I am not sure the settings of gucview are system-wide. It does use a lot of CPU power to deliver HD recording, but that's expected isn't it?Also tried this camera in my macbook pro running snow leopard, and it works flawlessly without any additional software - which is a bless, since usually microsoft programs are bloatware.This little gadget delivers fine webcam video with skype and whatnot, and the price here is unbeatable!

As my first ever webcam, I must say I was neither disappointed nor overly satisfied. I was hyped about the potential video quality, with the labeling of HD, however, it does not exactly live up to it. As far as the rest go, it's a pretty solid webcam overall, considering it's style, design elements, and built-in microphone.Pros:Very clean, modern design - still one of the most attractive webcams on the marketGreat microphone quality - also great design integration at the top, allowing it to receive sound at 360 degreesIndicator light - blue LED indicator light easily visible on the front of the webcam letting you know it is activeUseful clip - the rubbery portion hanging from the webcam - comes in handy and can be mounted on just about anythingWire organizer - a small wire organizer is attached to the wire allowing you to easily manage excess cable or move somewhereGood cord length - plenty of cord to move your webcam anywhere you need to, while attached to your USB portGood cord thickness - the cord is much thinner (maybe 50% thinner) than your typical USB cableCons:Video quality could be improved. Don't let the label HD convince you it's going to be crystal clear - it's good, but not great.Although the clip is very useful, the webcam can't really be 'fixed' to objects, rather it just sits on top of them. Any tug of the cord and the cam is going to end up on the floor, or whatever comes first. Very minor, but something to be aware of.Overall: If you're looking mostly for style and good aesthetics, with above-average performance, this is a great buy in the range of $50. If you are looking for high performance audio and video quality, there are probably better alternatives out there, however, I do not have any recommendations at this time.

I've been using Logitech webcams for over 10 years now. Always been happy with them. When I found this at half the price of Logitech Webcam 9000, I gave it a try. Here's what I love about this over the Logitech:1. Price. Cheaper is better, right?2. Picture Quality. The color is richer, the picture is brighter, and everything looks cleaner.3. Size. It's tiny. And it fits both LCD monitors and laptop/notebook/netbook screens.4. Compatibility. It's a Microsoft product. Integrates well with Windows.

Length:: 1:10 MinsMicrosoft is a company some people love to hate, but with the LifeCam, we have a real winner. It is a stylish and exceedingly well-made camera that not only delivers on its advertising claims, it is also very affordably-priced. Whereas most webcams are plastic and orb shaped, the LifeCam is made of metal and looks like a little mini-bazooka. The cylindrical matte black aluminum housing and glass lens give the LifeCam a touch of elegance, probably taking a cue from the design of the Apple iSight Video Conferencing Webcam with Autofocus -M8817LL/B.A number of thoughtful design decisions went into this product. The rubberized foot prevents slippage and it's bendable, allowing you to perch the camera on just about any monitor out there. The head has complete 360 degree swivel freedom. It can only pivot about 45 degrees up and down, but that should be enough for anybody.Although it is listed for Windows computers only, the LifeCam will also work on a Mac. Of course, none of the software will. It works in Skype and you can use Quicktime to make audio and video recordings with it. For video, you can record at 320x240, 640x480, or camera native (1280x720). The LifeCam is much better than the Mac's built-in iSight, both in terms of resolution and performance. It picks up sharp details and functions very well in low-light (see my photo in the product gallery). With the lights out and only the monitor's glow as lighting, the LifeCam still performs wonderfully. Most folk'll probably never sit in the dark and cam up, but then again, some folk'll!Secondly, the camera renders scenes very well in artificial lighting. My room is lit by CFL bulbs. On my digital SLR and the iSight, everything has an unnatural yellow tinge. With the LifeCam, colors are more natural and pleasant looking. Objects in the distance (more than 6 ft away) sometimes appear a bit overexposed, but this is not really an issue unless you're filming things far away. Everything is always in focus and the camera has no problems with objects moving in and away rapidly. The LifeCam does not work in Photo Booth or Image Capture.I recorded a short little demo of it using QuickTime to give you an idea of how well the camera works. The microphone is adequate, but not stellar. It is top-mounted, and when perched on top of my monitor, the microphone didn't have a good line of sight (or line of hearing?) with my voice because it was level with the top of my head. For the purposes of recording the video, I sat off to the right, far enough to be out of frame, so I had to speak up. In normal use, you would probably never do this, since the whole point of using a webcam is to be onscreen.My only other criticism is the overly elaborate box that it comes in. It doesn't need all that packaging. Overall, an impressive product at a very good price, the LifeCam is an exceptional device. I have no reservations about recommending this excellent camera. The fact that it works for PC's and Macs is an added value.

I trusted the product information on this webcam; you should too. This little dandy automatically adjusts light, focus, and placement of images being displayed. I explored many options including condenser microphones to create credible sound recording and cameras better than my Skype camera. The Microsoft LifeCam 720p HD incorporates all of my needs into one affordable option that exceeded my expectations. I can use it as a video option or simply a quality microphone. Look for my recital of some of my poems from Heartland Inspirations on U-Tube.

Bought this for Skype specifically. Works great! I'm running the most current version of Skype(5.7.0.123) and the camera showed up right away and so did the mic on the camera. I've not used the built in software yet as I've not had a need to do so, I just installed it for the drivers. Only thing that is a little weird sometimes is the auto focus. Even when the image is static you can catch the camera re-focusing for some reason, but it's not a big annoyance to me. Highly recommended for the price.

I really enjoy this camera, my parents and friends that I talk to on Skype noticed right away that I got a new camera.It is from Microsoft, so honestly great hardware piece. OEM software is crap, pardon me, but camera works fine with out it. It's plug-and-play.Overall I would recommend this camera.

I was looking for a cam that I could maybe use a wide angle lens on but I found this cam to do a good job without adding a new wide angle lens picture is great I use on a new laptop hang it over screen. The only thing I find that could be improved is it seems to keep re focusing all the time,great other wise

I was expecting HD quality video and was pretty disappointed. I just started Skypeing with my folks in AZ and honestly I could not tell the difference between their laptop webcam, touchpad webcam, ipad2 webcam and the Lifecam. I had high hopes because it said 720p, but if is pretty poor actually. I bought the Logitech C910 for my mac and the difference is pretty astounding my folks can tell right away which webcam I'm using. The Lifecam has a really great mic but the picture quality was not very good at all if your expecting HD. Honestly spend the extra couple of bucks and get the 1080p Lifecam or the Logictech. I actually returned it which is pretty rare for me.

Well, first off I purchased this product because I needed a "live" video camera which was compatible with a wide range of video editing and stop-motion animation programs. It also had to be Windows 7 compatible, offer HD resolutions, and be relatively inexpensive. So, for the requirements I had for a camera, the Microsoft LifeCam Cinema pretty much fits my needs perfectly! By the way, I don't intend to use this camera with Skype, Windows Messenger, or any other type of video chat program. Please keep this in mind when you are reading my comments.Now, for some of my observations about the camera. The build quality of the camera is top-notch and the 16x9 wide-angle lens is fantastic. Constructed of aluminum, the camera body appears rugged and features a long USB cord to accomodate any computer configuration. Image quality, both video and still picture, are extremely sharp and the auto-focus feature is very responsive. The included software will install a camera control panel which allows for zoom, tilt, and pan functionality. I really welcomed that feature, because it eliminates the need to rig the camera on a tripod. The software will also offer to install Windows Live Essentials (Messenger, MovieMaker, Mail, Writer, and Photo Gallery), but I believe you can decline it. By the way, don't be fooled by the Mac fanboys who are bashing software by Microsoft, because the included software is pretty good. As far as hardware requirements are concerned, you need a fairly beefy system if you want to record video in 720P high definition. My laptop is an HP Pavilion DV4-1225DX with an AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor (2.10 GHz), 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (64-bit), and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics system. Even with those specs, my computer recommended switching from 720P to a lower resolution. So, if you are running with a single-core processor like an Intel Celeron, Pentium IV, or Atom (netbook)... you might try a different camera like the Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 or the Logitech C500 webcam.Software compatibility seems to be pretty good with this unit. I had no problem running Pinnacle Studio HD 14, Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 12, Honestech Claymation Studio 1.0, Tech4learning's Frames 4, Sony Vegas Pro 8.1, Corel VideoStudio 12, or Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus with this unit as a "live" camera. However, I did run into some problems with Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0. The video was displayed in the capture window, but there seemed to be a conflict with the native HP webcam software installed on my system and Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0. That particular program seems buggy anyway and always struck me as a resource hog.In conclusion, I would like to say I am extremely pleased with my purchase and look forward to using it for my stop-motion projects. So, if you are looking for a high-quality HD webcam for your beefy Windows equipped computer, the Microsoft LifeCam Cinema camera will not disappoint!*** UPDATE (6/6/10) ****My 13" MacBook Pro (Unibody) scoffed at this camera. Too bad, I was hoping it would "just work". :^(

This is the first web cam that I've ever bought. I'm not sure how it compares to other cameras but this one is good for me. Sure its a refurbished one, but that didnt stop me from buying it. It's what made it low price. The video qualty is really good it's clear and the microphone picks up my voice like its suppose to. My friends say that they can hear the background noise coming from the kitchen which is 15 feet away from my computer! It looks nice and was really easy to install. I'm glad I bought it and recommend this webcam as a first time user.

I almost never write reviews. But this camera is great especially if you are looking for a camera with a WIDESCREEN angle for conference calls.Recently I was looking for a camera with a widescreen angle to do conference calls from my office to my plant. At first I bought the Logitech HD Webcam C310. But though they say it's a "widescreen camera," it wasn't. So then I went back online and ordered this camera and it's great- offers a widescreen angel, the price is very reasonable too! I HIGHLY recommend it.

i bought this webcam off of amazon. i got more than i bargained for. Not only does it work great, it was a cheap and easy to install. I sent it to my parents in NC ( I live in CA) so we could Skype and it has been so great!! The picture is really clear. I would definitely recommend it.

We've looked for high resolution HD webcams for quite awhile. We use them a lot in our office for teleconferencing/webcam meetings and have a lot of folks who log into our meetings and so need to have high quality imaging as part of our meetings. This little webcam is AWESOME. We carry it with for meetings offsite, we have one mounted at one end of our board room and it's high resolution all the way down to the other end of our board room. I highly recommend.

I was attracted to this camera specifically for use with Skype calling as our children live away from us. I felt it was such a good value that I purchased two, and I have not been disappointed. The camera was super easy to set up, and the images are amazing for one this size and at this cost. The audio seems just fine as well. I would recommend it wholeheartedly for video chatting applications. The Amazon sale price just made it all the better.

I read many reviews saying people had issues with the software, installation, etc. I, personally, run Windows Vista on my desktop and installing this camera was as easy as can be. The camera was working in no time, and really did well with little light.The problem is that I purchased this camera to make video tutorials for crochet and knitting. At close range, the picture is very blurry. And the auto-focus makes things frustrating because it keeps trying to adjust the focus all the time, and you can't (or at least I didn't figure out how) tell it to stop once the picture is clear. So it can be pretty frustrating when the picture looks pretty good and clear and the camera decides it's not good enough and starts trying to adjust the image, only to make it terribly blurry and out of focus.Now, I believe if I had bought this camera for web conferencing, it would have worked well. When I had it pointed at other parts of the room, the image was great and, as I said earlier, it was nice and clear, even though there wasn't much light.For all the reasons above, I gave it a 3-star review. If the product information didn't say and show in pictures that the auto-focus made close-ups very clear, I would still think it's a great camera, just not good for what I wanted. But I have to say that stating that piece of information is not really correct in this case, since the image only appears that clear for a moment, right before it gets all blurry again... :(

This is a great little camera! The pictures are very sharp. It was easy to install and use. We use it to Skype a director into our board of directors meeting each month. This camera, together with two daisy-chained microphone, allows him to hear and see and hear all ten directors.

(Mona) I bought two of these cameras. I sent one to my daughter and kept one for myself. The main reason for purchasing two was to Skype with my family on Christmas Day. I want to be able to see my grandkids open their gifts with a better view than built in webcams allow.This camera gives the clearest picture I have ever seen from a webcam! I love it and it is so easy to set up! It is definitely Plug n Play! I know I will enjoy it for years to come!

(I Think it's a) She Sure is Pretty. Her matte black and silver match Perfectly with my also matte black and silver monitor, speakers and printer.I was Also attracted to her personality. I was Very interested in the purported AutoFocus.So, That Feature Which Is Written on the box by MSoft and then other important features Do Not Work.The stated AutoFocus sure does Auto, but Never Focuses on silly things like The Human. I Never came close to seeing others or me in focus. You Can see the poor little camera going in and out at least Trying to focus.Then there is the feature MSoft doesn't pretend to offer and that is dynamic lighting adjustment. I had a good 250 watts of light In Front Of Me(no backlighting) and the picture was still very harsh and dark and POW-looking. I didn't even see any Contrast adjustment.Installing the MSoft "software" wiped out recognition of other USB devices I had hooked up like my wireless mouse.Of Course and unfortunately, MSoft has 1 Single choice to Load Everything, instead of just one item or giving you a list/choice of what to install and bypass. That means -> Usually, we want the nice extras like movie-maker and masks and avitars, etc, but MSoft makes you, or gives the impression that you must also install that messenger "application" and make it your default if you want the other fun things.What if I And The Rest of My Family/Friends/Etc are already doing just fine with Skype or whatever? I could Not take the risk of MSoft virtually malwaring and thus wiping out the stable good webcall setup we already have.I bought this specific LifeCam for 50% the Great looks and for 50% the 16:9 aspect ratio And AutoFocus. The 16:9 is there but the picture and messing up of the working setup you already have is Garbage and Reprehensible, respectively.Here's the part I kept till the end. I have installed 3 Logitech webcams on other computers: a (I think all are Cs)C250, a C500 and a C600. All 3 handle lighting Dynamically and eventhough none claims an autofocus, all 3 models do a Much Better Job than the MSoft "device" at Lighting, Focus and Contrast. Also, Logitech is Much better at informing you what boxes to check are for software features(fun effects) and which are for Making Their WebCall Software Your Forced Default.My total personal experience on webcams is 2-MSoft and 3-Logitech. Logitech is waaay ahead, and it's shocking how woefully behind the MSoft products are. Yes, she has been returned for a refund.

item arrived before estimated delivery date, well packaged, exactly as described. The webcam and software/drivers installed quickly and easily. The webcam itself seems to be made well, feels solid, good quality. The quality of the picture and video is very good. I like that it's widescreen, the colors are very good to excellent in normal to bright light, and good in low light. Microphone set up easily and picks up everything, even whispers. Focusing in bright light is quick but like most webcams, it can go in and out of focus in low light, however, not too often that its distracting. The software is simple and easy to use, not many options and contains some cute/interesting effects. Overall, I'm very happy with this item, it works well.

I researched many, many webcams before purchasing this one. Both visual and sound are exceptional...as good or even better than more expensive models. I would certainly recommend this for all looking to Skype if your computer is not camera enabled. You will not be sorry!! Price is great and set up is so easy!

1, Local picture looks great but not for remote through Skype at the beginning. Picture is blurred and even blank screen displayed sometime.I searched through forums, here's a helpful one: "you could not get any video to display in lower resolution then 640x360. I myself had the same problem on the [...] website, I surfed about 10 different forums reading threads where people have had a similar problem on everything from video chatting or conference sites to video software programs. The culprit ended up being the "Clear Frame Settings" option. For some reason if "Clear Frame Settings" is set to "Automatic" or "On" when you select any resolution lower then 640x360 all you'll get is a black screen. This will also cause a no video condition in Stickam live rooms and Stickam in general. So setting the "Clear Frame Settings" to "Off" will display the video feed in the Microsoft LifeCam Cinema Software video display window when you select a low resolution aaand it will allow your video to come up on Stickam. Should work for Skype but I have yet to try it myself. I know you already got rid of the cam and got another one so I write this for your peace of mind and to help whoever needs to know how to solve the same issue.What's funny is that all the threads I read had me thinking the LifeCam Cinema was defective and from the clarity of the visible resolution settings I really liked the cam, I felt pretty bummed when I drove home excited to try it out and when I had everything installed and ready to go, it wasn't coming up on certain chat sites or messenger programs :/. After all the reading, I figured that Microsoft wouldn't put out a cam like this without testing it, so the likely hood that it had some huge oversight in the programming cause a no video condition was unlikely; so I literally just started clicking things on and off and through trial and error and using process of elimination I stumbled on the one setting that was causing the issue."2, To make things even worse, the dash board icon disappeared from window XP task bar. I could not find any way to get it back. Then, where to open it and reset that Clear Frame Settings? End up to get help from LifeCam window. There is an expansion button hidden on the right of that cinema like window. This is wired and so different from typical menu. Anyhow, the dash board will display on the right after clicked on that narrow, vertical button.3, there might be a way to turn on Skype's HD support on this. Please post here if someone find a sound solution.Summary: after manually turn off that Clear Frame Settings, remote picture gets clearer. Took me one hour to figure all this out.

I received my LifeCam Cinema for Christmas and could not be happier. It is a well designed product that works without a glitch. I am running Win 7 Pro 64bit and have had zero problems. My wife and daughter each want one to replace their built in webcams on their laptops.
