I received my drive early and was In perfect new condition. I had read some reviews that made me worry I might never get my package but that was not the case. I would buy from them again. Great price!

the LaCie d2 is very dependable and easy to use. these are the only drawing points that i use when choosing a product of any kind. i have had my LaCie for over a year now and have purchased my second one since then. they perform flawlessly and if i need support its quick and concise. i put my LaCie through it's paces daily and it has shown to be a champion performer every time.

After only a short time, the drive is working fine, but I suggest RCB considerhearing aids, as sitting on my desktop the drive can be heard just quietly spinning,and when actually handling data, it makes a slight "clatter".Not bothersome, but you can hear the thing working its armwhich at least lets you know it's doing something.If using a Mac Pro in a quiet room, which is really silent, all you will hearis a slight whirrrrr from the disk while inactive.Mac users with Leopard might consider ignoring the Intego Backup Assistant software thatcomes with the disk and just assign it to Time Machine to start with. TheIntego software is sort of flaky to use and very slow compared to Time Machine.Using both is not a good idea and Apple recommends not mixing TM withother items stored on the same disc. If Intego is interrupted by a power transientor a hard "sleep" while creating the initial backup, you probably will haveto start over as I did until I gave up on Intego when it got upset at someundefined "errors", requested that I repair permissions and then start over.Time Machine works - skip Intego. It only took about three hours forthe initial backup of 230GB with a dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5.Intego announced it wanted another 6+ hours to go beforeI trashed it and turned on Time Machine.I'd give it five stars but the little plastic strips LaCie provides to insertin the slots to lay the disc on it's side are extremely difficult to insertand pop out easily. Best forget them and use the stand provided toset it up vertically. Better cooling that way anyhow.

I have been carefully studying purchasing a RAID drive in order to edit/store my HD family home videos. I have had many hard drives in my time, and purchased the WD My Book Studio Edition II just prior to ordering this model, and had to return it immediately as it didn't perform as promised (daisy chaining cut speeds in half due in adequate power supply, let alone the overall "cheapness" of the WD drive).This LaCie drive though, has has been reading/writing at 65-70MB/sec in Raid 1 Mode, no matter how many devices are attached (via FireWire 800). Very easy to change RAID modes, there is no need to infect your computer with Adware (such as WD "Drive Manager"). As far as performance is concerned, the drive has gone beyond exceeding my expectations.The enclosure is very good looking, very well built, and fits perfectly next to any Aluminum Mac. The only down side is the self adjusting "smart fan" typically runs on the louder side. I don't mind, as I believe in cooling when it comes to HDs....

I received my 1TB Hard drive last week and I am loving it. I created a partition between Mac and Windows and I am using this with Time Machine on my Mac and Very nice back tool provided by them on Windows. One button push technology is also amazing. This baby is surprisingly silent. I will buy one more in the future.

Fast, easy, and so far reliable. Had it for about a month. No worries, no issues. The transfer is fast. I use this as a time machine drive for Apple iMac. It looks great as well.

I began to edit and save a number of family videos and needed both more hard drive storage and a scatch disk for importing video. This drive has a very fast interface (FireWire) and a 1 TB capacity. It is easy to reformat for my Mac and the drive can be partitioned to keep the scratch disk separate from the video storage. The drive is attractively packaged and seems to be very robust. I have not used it long enough to be able to comment on its reliability, though like any hard drive, the contents need to be backed up periodically, because they can eventually fail. I have been very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to a friend.

The eSata capability on this drive is 1 out of 3. I bought one of these drives for the eSata capability and it worked fine, so I ordered another one. I should have quit while I was ahead: the eSata would hook up fine, but shortly thereafter the drive would no longer be recognized by the computer. LaCie wanted me to pay for returning it to them so they could fix it. I decided to use free shipping and return it to Amazon. I ordered another one; same problem; same recommended solution from LaCie; same outcome: shipped it back to Amazon. Decided to stop there; no more LaCie drives.Also, don't try to stand these drives up on their stand. The base is too narrow and the drive easily tips over which means (you guessed it) ship it back to LaCie to have it fixed.

I use this with my MBP. It has to be re-formatted, but that's easy to do. I dragged these from the U.S., to South Africa, all over South Africa, to Brussels, and back to the U.S. in a backpack. Very durable, and easy to use!

Very very disappointed. The unit just stopped working after about a year, I paid to ship it back and got it "repaired". Now, almost a year later, the unit has stopped working again. The unit powers up -- the blue light is on, but the computer does not recognize it -- not even an icon on the desktop. The first time this happened, I switched out cables and that didn't work -- at the Apple Genius Bar. Of course LACIE never explained what they found wrong with the unit, they just shipped it back, fixed. The service was fine but this product is not. A friend of mine has been happily using a WD HD for years without issue, so I guess WD is in my future too.

After many years of owning and loving LaCie disks (three disk working for 5+ years now) I didn't believe the on-line reviews and people at work and bought this disk anyway. I should have listened. It worked the first day, and then it went downhill after that. Within three days I couldn't even format the disk. Tech Support simply read the script that was already on their website. They obviously ignored the fact that I had run Disk Utility and Disk Warrior without success, and the console was throwing disk I/O errors every few seconds. Save yourself some potential grief and look elsewhere. LaCie isn't the stellar source of disk drives it used to be.

Casing is high quality and it is very fast. I use this with my iMac and I like how it goes to sleep mode automatically when not in use for a long time. I've used it for 2 months now and never had any problems with overheating and data loss.

This is my second LaCie external hard drive. The first one was full, so I needed another. I use it as a place to keep duplicate digital images, which have been getting larger with technical advances. So, having a 1.5 TB storage drive was necessary. So far, it has met my expectations. It is faster than the last one I had and I suspect it will be quite a while before I fill it.

Was unable to work this on the eSATA drive on my Dell XPS 9000 Win 7). Working well on the USB port. Tech support was not very helpful. They blame the problem on my hardware.
