I purchased this product because I was running out of room on my iPad. I loaded it up and in no time it was streaming videos and music to my iPad. This will be great for vacation or any other time when you need more content than your device can comfortably handle.

I can now take all my files with me when I travel. I have combined my work and home files on the drive so that I can worksheet. There is no wifi.

Really shoddy work. It feels light and cheap. The software does not run as advertized- bridge mode doesn't work, nor does securing the wifi access point built in to the device. After setting up wifi protection, I am completely unable to connect to the device. Perhaps it's just that it can't handle WPA2, but whatever the problem is, it renders the device unusable in that respect. Don't waste your money, I'm sending this one back.

As I travel I enjoy watching movies to help pass the time. Since I did not purchase the 64GB iPad I have found a way to extend my storage space. The Kingston Wi-Drive provides 16GB at a reasonable price. As I traveled on the Amtrak train I was easily able to connect my iPad to the Kingston Wi-Drive and watch my movies. There was never any lag while watching the movies, it was as if they were really on the iPad. This small, light weight device will always be traveling with me.

I have only had the Wi-Drive for about 2 weeks but so far I have really enjoyed it. It's great adding an additional 16GB of space for my iPad and I love that I don't have to store the huge movie files local on the iPad anymore. It basically functions as a portable cloud for my movies, music, and photos.PROS-Small, compact, portable-Stream hi-def content really well-Easy to use and setupCONS-The drive gets pretty warm when in use. I definitely wouldn't keep it on a heat sensitive surface or skin. Other than that, haven't found any cons.This isn't necessarily a con, more of a nuisance, but if you have Digital Copies from a Blu-Ray/DVD pack you can't watch those directly within the app due to Digital Rights Management (Kingston's FAQ section mentions this). Instead, you have to launch the player via Safari on the iPad by going to the Wi-Drive's IP Address. I have done that a few times and haven't had any problems doing it. It's not con or deal-breaker by any means, but something you should be aware of. It still works great within the app or via Safari.I highly recommend this product. Yes, this product can do all the stated, which is a good thing.the best thing i like is i can copy the files over and watch them offline.The Wi-drive does get a little hot when in operation. Other than that, it is working fine.Have not tried all the movie formats, but i do hope it can play as many as possible.

I love this little drive. I have all my edited pictures and quite a few home movies in the little unit for easy sharing. Double the capacity of my iPad while traveling.

Purchased the 16 GB and it came in so handy that I have purchased the 32 GB and given the 16 to my daughter. We just came back from vacation and we used them both quite a bit. Very easy to use, very close in size to my HTC Incredible phone, and a little lighter than the phone.My husband, daughter and myself all used the wi-drives, we each had a different tablet with us - kindle fire, toshiba thrive and Lenovo - we could all watch different movies from the same drive at the same time!! Love this thing:)

Bought this to work with Kindle Fire... works great with anything APPLE but could not load ANYTHING from Amazon to it and HAVE the ANDROID APP INSTALLED ..so for me it was wasted money

So I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents as there seems to be some debate over this issue. As stated elsewhere as long as you turn on the device and let the blue wifi lights come on PRIOR to plugging it in to the USB charger it will transmit while charging. Just got back from a family vacation and being able to make additional movies available to the iPad was really nice. No glitches or stuttering on playback. Seems like an excellent product!

Save your bucks. Get the 8gb Nexus 7 plus a 32gb Kingston Wi-drive! Works like a charm. Easy to set up and connect. Fast file transfer. Being at best a semi-geek I was hesitant about buying the Wi-drive but couldn't be more pleased. A terrific accessory for a terrific tablet.

I've had the Wi-Drive for about a month, and it was working great until last week. I never set up a password to access the drive, but my Kindle fire suddenly started asking me for a password to access it. This drive has never been outside the home, and no one else has ever had access to it (or my Kindle Fire). I've tried re-setting the drive, but that hasn't worked. I'm currently waiting for Kingston's customer service to reply back to me. If nothing works, I guess I will have to send the drive back.Update:Tech support responded by e-mail within 36 hours. The solution to this problem is to press the reset button, which is besides the power button. Use a straightened paperclip to press the button for 10 seconds. You may also have to turn the Kindle off and back on to reset everything. Everything working fine once again.

With only about 5.5 gb of space on the Kindle Fire for music, movies, photos and software, this is a MUST HAVE. The Kingston Wi Drive gives you an extra 32 gb of space to play with. I use it for movies only. I can put about 25 movies on it at one time with 1 gb or so leftover.It is easy to setup and once you do all you have to do is turn it on and the Kindle Fire automaticaly see it and it's up and streaming within 30 seconds.It has great range, I took it to work and went around my building (over 100 ft) before it lost a signal.The unit itself is soooo lightweight. If you put it in your shirt pocket, in a few seconds you would forget it was there.I haven't really found a con for this (1st day playing with it) and don't expect any.You will also need to download the "WI DRIVE APP" to us it. Don't worry this APP is FREE.Like I said before this is a "MUST HAVE" if you have a Kindle Fire!

There are too many limits in reference to video codec and the 2GB video limit for the Kindle Fire. Next time I'll read the negative reviews before I read the positive reviews.

My imac does not recognize it. Technical support is horrible.Documentatio is terrible, as is the web site. Thankfully I can return this flawed product to Amazon.

Bought a 16gb iPad and one I loaded some of my videos to show clients I realized I should have bought one with more storage capacity. When I saw this item I bought it right away and glad I did. What a great product.

I charged the unit using the wall socket USB charger. It took about 2 1/2 hours to charge fully. While it was charging, I downloaded the App onto my iPad and set it up. After the wi-drive charged completely, I plugged it into my PC and added some pictures and some music. When I set my iPad wi-fi to the wi-drive and accessed the App, everything I had put on it was instantly available.The only negative was I couldn't copy the files to my iPad so I could access it with another App. It was only viewable though the wi-drive App.Kingston Wi-Drive 16 GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive WID/16GBZ

Essential if you want to be able to control your files e everywhere, all the time. It s like having a bigger hard disk at a fraction of the original upgrade. You can download your movies and watch them whilw flying: you don t even need to pay the airline for the internt connection. Five stars

This flash drive interfaces nicely with the Kindle Fire. I have been able to copy files, documents and music back and forth from the Fire without any problem. A file manager app is needed to make it happen but once it is installed, it is a snap to do. I have all my music on the widrive and just 'stream' if from there to my Kindle so that I can keep space free on the Kindle for apps. Well worth the money to have the extra 32G of memory available.
