Love this device, I have all my movies, music, and photos stored on it. Just load it like you would a flashdrive, and then sign into its wireless network. PLEASE NOTE, the app to use for viewing content doesn't work. Never did for me. YOU DON'T NEED IT. Just open a browser window and go to the device IP address, 192.168.200.254 and you can view all content without Internet.Seller is great, got the item the very next day. Good packaging, brand new.

The concept is cool - a wifi drive for your Android or Apple phone or tablet to store extra files, etc. I originally thought it might work with my Windows 8 tablet over wifi - no app for that, I have to use a USB cable. But wait a second - there is NO SECURITY - If you have the WiFi on, anyone within distance (up to six people) can see and attach to this drive. What the heck!!?? Who thought out this design? I wish I could return it for a full refund.

I tried with my iphone for a couple hours and although I could see it in my wifi I could never access any of the files on it. Tried both MP3 and MP4 files, never could get the iphone to even see them. I'll try it again with my ipad but I'm not holding my breath.

At $50, this hard drive is a great deal more cost effective than springing for a higher capacity iPad, especially if you're looking for movie or song space. It seems to stream movies to the iPad or iPhone flawlessly, leaving precious space free. I have had no problems with file formats (who would want to transfer file types that an iPad cannot recognize?), and file size is not an issue. Use Handbrake (on the Apple TV setting) and I doubt you will encounter feature-length movies above 1.5GB. The Wi-Drive will store 20+ movies! Granted, this is only the third day of use, so I can only cross my fingers.

It's kinda hard to explain but I will try. When turned on after a few minutes it shows up under your network connection as Wi-Drive. Once selected it will connect to your iPad, iPhone or other portable devices. When pluged into your USB device on your computer it will appear on your computer as another drive where you can open and create any folders that you like. In a folder that I made called Movies I downloaded over 30 full length movies which could be accessed from my, in my case Apple device. The movies that I downloaded played without skipping a beat.I would recommend this drive to anyone.Rich

I bought this as backup for my Kindle Fire hd and also to transfer files between my PC running Windows XP and the Kindle. Some XP users are having trouble getting the computer to see the Kindle, and I was one of them. Also, we have several Kindles in our home and this is a simple way to share files.I downloaded the Wi-Drive app, charged the drive (about two hours), followed the easy instructions, and it worked perfectly.It gets warm when it's on, but it doesn't effect performance. It seems to be well made. I'm very happy with the Wi-Drive.

Takes a bit to get but once you do it's a breeze,would recommend videos be in format for device & at 640x480 - 720 to 1080 will either lag or may not work,battery last awhile,east to transfer files to & from PC to device,may get a little warm depending on usage. Would recommend to anyone wanting extra storage that's compact at a decent price (I should've waited a little longer since the price drop to buy it - could've gotten a 64 at a near 32 price when I bought it!!)

Though, I'd definitely purchase the 128GB version now, I'm happy I purchased this when I did. I've found myself using it quite regularly. I do have some problems with it not turning on after sitting for a few days w/o use. I've been lucky and the reset brings it back to life, so at least it's not a brick. I'm hoping that goes away with the BIOS upgrade I've read about online.

I purchased the Wi Drive from when I travel to provide me with additional storage to both my Galaxy Tablet and Kindle Fire. My wife and share these devices, so having some extra storage for videos or photos was important. Before I get to the actual reeview, let me say I wish I had purchased the 64GB unit. I purchased the 16GB one.The unit is easy to tranfer videos and pictures was very easy. Simply connect the Wi Drrive to the PC using the USB cord supplied with the unit. It registers as an external drive. These worked perfectly, but, as with any USB transfer, it took a long time.Prior to using the Wi Drive with either Tablet, you need to go to the appropriate App Store and download the free Wi Drive App. Both the Amazon App store and the Google Play have the app. When you connect to the Wi Drive the tablet's wireless connection is substituted with the Wi Drrive connection. There is a way to bridge the connection and maintain both wifi connections, but I did not find that necessary..Once the link appears, and you tap on it, you have access to the individual files on the drive. I have used the Wi Drive to stream videos to both units, shown photos and read documents.I am extremely pleased with the Wi Drive, my only regret is not purchasing the larger 64GB unit.

I love the Kingston wi-drive. I have been eyeing it for a year and only now purchased the 32gb model for only $60. Also, trying to connect to a wireless network while using the drive does not work so well.Good way to expand the memory of Apple devices though. I will update this review if I find that I am doing something wrong. But it is a good buy still.Note: You can stream while the wi-drive is charging, you just have to connect to it first and then plug it up.Update: Kingston messaged me and let me know that you can now upload to the camera roll from the wi-drive. I will keep the rating at 4 stars for now because the design of the app interface could be a bit better.By the way. I have told over 1,000 people about the Kingston Wi-drive.

So long as you know a little big about how to set up a WAP, it works great. I use this for my Droid DNA phone and my Asus TF300 Android tablet. Both connect just fine and the streaming works great with no delays.I travel for work. I fly Sundays and Fridays and am in a Hotel from Sunday afternoon til Friday morning. This thing has done a lot to stave off boredom. Great buy!

I have a 16GB iPad and was traveling from the USA to Asia and wanted to be able to watch movies without buying a larger capacity iPad. This seemed like a perfect fit. It did work but the only problem I had with it is you can't use it while it's charging. Definitely worth $50 though if you're in a similar situation!

When I bought this item I got it with the intention to free up space on my iPad. In short it has not lived up to my expectations. It wouldn't sync up right have the time and when it would you couldn't download to it. It's a complete waste of money as far as I'm concerned.

Kingston Wi-Drive 32 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive WID/32GBZI received this a few days ago. I've copied some music and videos to it (reasonably straightforward, but archaic, no wifi transfer). I've not been able to get it to work as it's meant to. My iDevices see the drive but it will not hold a connection to my home network, and when it does the Internet connection speed is reminiscent of telephone dial up days! Nor does the device see my Apple TV or other streaming devices around my home. It did once, momentarily, then crashed. I've followed the (limited) directions on the Kingston website, to no avail. In this day and age I expect devices like this to work properly out of the box. This doesn't. Add to that an appallingly short battery life, this product is severely compromised. On the basis of my experience there's no way I would recommend the device. Very disappointing.

Our household consist of numerous Apple portable devices. We have a 16GB iPad, 64GB iPad, 8GB 3rd Generation iPod touch, 8GB current generation iPod touch, two iPhone 4 and two Apple TVs.With exception to the 64GB iPad, all the other IOS devices we own is pretty much down to less than 1GB worth of space. We use our devices to store a lot of pictures and videos. My son (5 years old) loves to download all the free games on his 16GB iPad and since he sometimes does not like to share his device with his little sister, my mother-in-law bought her a 8GB current model iPod touch. We have filled it out with cartoon and her other favorite Disney movies, music videos (she loves Yo Gabba Gabba etc) and she also discovered how to use the video camera and has been using up the memory on her device.I myself on my 16GB iPhone 4G have used up majority of the memory on applications and pictures.The Kingston Wi Drive comes as a perfect compliment to my Apple IOS products. I can store files, movies and music on it on and works as an extension to all my other Apple IOS products main memory.The lack of an expansion slot for cards (Micro SD, SD etc or Mini USB) on Apple portable devices does not give you the flexibility to upgrade to more memory unless if you buy the device and get the largest possible memory you can afford at time of purchase.Unfortunately my budget at that time did not call for buying the 64GB models etc.Now with my Kingston Wi Drive I solved that issue since some of these files I only occasionally use.It's so easy to use and my wife and kids can use it with no issues what so ever.This product is just plain awesome.Since it is Solid State inside the unit, I don't have to worry about the drive being damaged from being transported unlike the other devices that uses spinning hard drives.If you ever used SSD, it's a difference of night and day compared to a conventional hard drive.Thanks Kingston for coming out with such a wonderful device.Adrian LCorona CA

This works as described. online i have found that I should be able to use this while it is charging if I let it connect the wifi first. It appears that that only happens half the time the other times I get disconnected. Easy to use on Apple products, a lot harder to use on other products like a Kindle. Files are limited to 4GB. HD movies are generally larger then 4GB. If It was easier to use while charging I would give it 5 stars. If Kingston comes out with a revised model I would like it to allow larger then 4GB files and to run while charging.

I got one a few months back and ended up getting three more for family members for Christmas. I only have a 16GB iPad so storage is limited. But now I can carry 64GBs of pictures, ebooks, mp3s and movies without having to buy a new (and more expensive) iPad. One thing I am disappointed is that I can only play mp4 videos through the Wi-drive. I was hoping I could still use my Azul apps to play mkv and avi files.

Worked surprisingly well right out of the box, battery was fully charged and the local WiFi created by this unit was immediately accessible. This did not last too long though. After about 2 hours, the battery light turns red and stopped accepting any charge, even with charging cable plugged all this time. I tried various ways to have the unit charged, no success. Really wanted to keep it, very regretfully have to give it up. Handsome idea, unreliable delivery.

Well, its not a lot of memory for an external hard drive. Battery life becomes an issue, and it takes a while to set stuff up with is. Overall, I don't use it a lot just cause its not very convenient. I like the concept and I don't really have an argument with this particular device, but the premise itself is a little flawed.

Takes MP4 format, and plays them well through native player built in to App. Case itself seems a little light and flimsy, however no damage or scratches so far so can't hold it against it in real life use. Take heed people, Apple is really not playing well with third parties. IOS 6.0 wasn't supported with this device, although an update on Oct 25 says it does. I couldn't get it to work. Others notice a sluggish connection. Also, You CANNOT save files TO the device with Apple iPad or iPhone. You can only read files from Apple devices. Therefore, you must need a PC or Mac to save files. Kingston makes good products but they have been slammed by Apple just like Google and others. Kingston says there are working on a fix, but time is obsolecense in this technology world.(P.S. I am lost without my Google maps on IOS 6.0). Really I am.

I purchased this for streaming video files to a Kindle Fire and it works without a hitch. I went back through my Plex library and ran all the mkv files through Handbrake to convert them to mp4's. Even setting Handbrake's reduction factor to 27 (a number I just pulled out of my a$$), the quality is just fine for a 7" screen. File sizes range from 350 to 500 megabytes per movie. It took a while to transfer them to the Wi-Drive, but that's to be expected over USB 2.0. To make sure the Kindle sees the Wi-Drive, I usually boot the Wi-Drive and let the blue indicators start flashing before launching the Wi-Drive app on the Kindle. The Kindle has had no problems finding the Wi-Drive this way. Movies stream perfectly. We haven't used it on a road trip yet, but I don't anticipate any issues. I guess if I had any regrets, it's that I didn't purchase the 64 GB model. Why isn't that one available for Amazon Prime anyway? All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and will probably own two of them before all is said and done.
