These are used on my macbook and the sound is a great improvement on the built in speakers. The color matches the mac and my printer so it even looks cool. They do not take up much room and install easily. The cord connecting to the input on the mac is just a tad loose, but I can live with that. For use on a laptop, these are very good and I am quite satisfied.

My original review of this product was rather different. The only thing remaining the same was the chassis build, which is misleading. (plastic with aluminum-gray paint. Not aluminum metal. Make 'em cheap and build up the landfill, hot diggity!)Trebles are really well-reproduced. Midtones are fair, but bass is virtually nonexistent. (60-20000Hz frequency range.) This is a good set for apartment-dwellers but if you want deep throbbing bass goodness, you won't find it here.Longevity is another issue. Mine started developing a slight buzzing noise. I didn't like it. I mean, some people might like the buzz, but I really don't. I don't even like the buzz that comes from drinking booze.At $30 or less, these would make a great value. But they aren't quite the greatest speakers to hit the market...

I agree with some of the earlier reviewers that these speakers are well worth the cost. JBL and Harmon have gotten together to create a cheap speaker set for people who care about sound and don't have a lot of money.Qualification: I bought these speakers to install in my truck as mp3 player speakers--I live in a neighborhood with a lot of tweakers, and my stereo was stolen out of my truck twice in a month--and I would not recommend these for car use.Perfect for computers indoors, as there is enough bass to hear the entire spectrum, but definitely not for bass players who want to hear their own playing!BUZZING: Some people have complained about a buzzing sound with these speakers. When I plugged them into my truck, they buzzed very badly. If I were to keep them in there, I would have had to ground them out somehow. That is why they're buzzing...They are not grounded. If you take a piece of wire and wrap the metal tip of the cord bridging the computer to the speakers, and then attach that wire to a grounding agent, like a table leg or something, the buzzing should go away. There was no buzzing when I plugged them into my laptop.I am listening to them right now, and they have depth, clarity, and more low end than I am used to from pc speakers, although again, really these speakers do not have very much bass at all. Just below the level I would consider enough, and that's why I only give these four out of five stars. The mid to high end are superb.Overall a good product.

Extremely happy with this purchase! Contacted seller with shipping question and actually received response same day. Made the purchase and speakers arrived in less than one week! Product were sold as advertised and I am happy to have decent sound from my Apple Mac Book Pro notebook.

The sound is very crisp and clear.I have bought several speakers for my desk top pc and these were by far the best I hav ever owned. The price was excellent, I paid more for other brands that sounded bad and didn't have the clarity of these the volume knob's stiff but Im sure it will lossen up with use.

This are the best computer speakers for under $50, and this is under $40. Only 1 little thing the pitch sleeps but you can fix it with a rubber band.

Easy connection, takes up little space, good complement to laptop, excellent sound. May not have the bass that some would wish, but it's adequate. Sound of an orchestra firing up is great. Highly recommend.

I was reading all the good reviews thinking these would be a good all around speakers. I like the idea of 2 speakers with no subwoofer. I don't know where these people get their speakers but mine from this site has no bass at all! I tried all the setting I can find on Windows 7, and all the mixers that came with all the application. There is just no bass out of them!! For this price point there are much better ones out there.

The speakers reached me in good time, in good shape and well packaged. I was very anxious to find out if they would be afflicted with the dreaded "buzzing" that people here have complained about, but thankfully, no such issues at all... let's hope that this is one quality defect that JBL have learnt of and fixed by design.The sound quality is more than what I would normally expect from 2 tiny speakers such as these, and even though i'm not obsessed with bass... it does a good job all the same. More than sufficient for filling up a small room, and the reproduction of sound is nothing you would complain about.They look good, they sound good and I think I bought it at a fair price, so there we go!

I bought these based on reviews by others. Overall they're fine. They look good and they hooked up fine. But I guess, based on what others said, I expected better, richer sound quality. Frankly, my old Dell speakers (with subwoofer) sounded considerably better. I got a new iMac, so I wanted new speakers to go with it. I'm just not all that impressed. Others talk about the rich sound and great bass... Really? Oh well. You win some, you lose some. Like I said, they're alright. Just not as great as I thought they would be.

The speakers worked great for their cost and size, but after about a year the A/C adapter started shorting out. Maybe if you keep them stationary then it won't be so much of a problem, but if you move them around alot the wire on the A/C adapter wears easily.

I've been looking for a quality pair of computer speakers for quite some time now. After reading about the JBL speakers, and going by the reviews, I decided to buy the speakers without ever hearing them. It's true!!! These speakers produce a full bodied, well mixed, and totally satisfying sound generated directly from my computer. The sound coming out of these small but elegant speakers blow other high value, high profile speakers out of the water. The comments others made about using two hands to turn the volume control knob are true. However, it takes so little energy and effort this should not even be a consideration. Don't wait... buy a pair. You won't be disappointed.

I purchased the JBL Duet speakers for my wife's netbook. They are easy to install and have a simple on/off volume control on the top of the right speaker. The best part is the sound. It is truly amazing for such a small pair of speakers. My wife has thanked me several times for finding these. I based it on speakers for under $100.00 that had the best rating. This is why I am reviewing this too. I'd like to add our vote for these speakers being very good and hopefully others will enjoy them like we are based on the many reviews for this product.

I purchased these speakers for use with a new IMAC desktop computer. They sound significantly better than the built in speakers at all volume levels. They do have the range of frequency limitations expected with a light weight 2 piece speaker system but provide a good clean sound when watching videos and listening to music in a 10' by 12' room. The shape and size of the speakers, when placed beside the IMAC compliment the look of the computer, and have not caused any interference with either the computer or an external hard drive which is in close proximity to the left speaker. I recommend these speakers for someone looking for a 2.0 sound system with an attractive design, a small footprint, and the ability to fill a small room with smooth clear sound.

These speakers are an amazing value as the sound is terrific for the price. The one downside is the chrome volume nob is so slippery it is hard to turn it without using two hands to exert more pressure to get it to turn. But at this price you cannot do better.

I own other JBL products and I'm quite pleased with them, however I've noticed that I always have to get a replacement due to dents or defects with JBL's product - these speakers are no exception. I purchased a cheap-y pair of speakers at radio shack some 2 years ago, and the wiring started to go on them. The sound would only come out of one speaker unless you fiddle around with the cord. O.K. time to replace the cheap-y's and upgrade to the slightly more JBL's. Well, I go to play them and guess what? Sound comes out of one speaker only. I tried several different outputs, different computers, directly from my iphone, yet sound only comes out of one speaker. I want to keep them so I've requested a like for like replacement, but it's unfortunate that JBL sticks to their standard protocol - to make every other item they manufacture faulty in some respect. Great product, but too bad for the lack on consistent quality.

I have used these for computer speakers, at mid to low volume and in a somewhat enclosed area. While they definitely required a ten to twenty hour burn in period, I was extremely happy with them after that. I lent them to my daughter thinking I wouldn't miss them but now I want them back, as they pretty much hit the sweet spot for computer speakers and I don't have to deal with a third component for bass. My wife has the prior version of the Duet IIs, it's a tear drop shaped speaker, and I actually like the sound on these a bit better. However, she's got hers in a much less enclosed area, and so I've not given them a fair comparison.Be sure to consider what you are using them for and what's available in their price range (currently about $55 at Amazon.com). For me, they're great, but I don't expect from them what I would from a set of stereo speakers--which I would be prepared to pay way more for and would expect to take up a lot more room.

I can't believe I didn't check that there is no headphone jack on these speakers before I bought them. I guess I just assumed that all small sized PC speakers of course would have a headphone jack. Well this one doesn't. Yeah the sound quality is pretty good and all but having no headphone jack is a deal breaker for me.In addition, something else that you might not think would be that annoying at first is the fact that you need two hands to turn on the speakers. The nob to turn on the speakers has no grip on it so you need something to hold the speaker in place while you turn the nob on. A wall should do the trick but I don't have my speaker against a wall so I always need one hand to hold the speaker in place and the other to turn the nob. This is kind of annoying.Besides all of that, again the sound quality is good, but I don't quite see it being as amazing as the other reviewers say it is. It's good, not great, it's good, maybe even above average. I don't know maybe it is really good and I just don't know what good sound quality is.Also, I don't think it will break anytime soon because it seems pretty sturdy too. Simple installation (plug it in and go). The plug for the outlet has a large transformer, which is kind of annoying seeing as it takes up more space. All and all this is an average set of PC speakers that I would never buy or recommend anyone else buying. But it does do it's job of providing sound so that's why it gets 3 stars.

Until now, I've only rated books and cds, but I thought I would take time to express my opinion on this rather remarkable product. For thirty something bucks you get speakers with surprising crisp sound and high volume capacity. Attach it to your home or office computer, or directly to your portable cd player, ipod, etc. - anything that uses headphones - and you'll be astonished by the sound you get for such a cheap product. I bought two - one for home and one for the office.About 30 years ago, I bought these huge speakers for $500 (huge speakers were all the rage at the time). Now I won't say that these speakers - which are less than one-tenth the size, weight and price - are as good, but they're not much worse either.Highly recommended for listening to music through a computer or any sort of portable player, and it won't to put a dent in your wallet.

We bought these to replace the JBL Creature set that had worked very well for years before finally losing one channel. The sound was OK, but never as nice or full as the creature. After about 6 months of very light use one channel in the Duets failed. I wouldn't buy the Duets again, Spend a little more and get the Creature

I have grown to like these speakers but they are not without their flaws. The volume control/power know is terribly designed, the styling is questionable, and bass response is mediocre. The amount of sound output for the size is good and the fidelity at high volumes is even alright. Overall, I would recommend them if space limitations prevent using a 2.1 system but the "bang for the buck" factor is rather low on these speakers.

I had some other pair of speakers with a subwoofer, but I had issues with them and had to get something else. I purchased a pair that cost twice as much and they sounded terrible.I plugged these in expecting the worse. They feel extremely cheap. That's to be expected since they're cheap to begin with.Everything sounds good to me and is crystal clear. It does lack bass, but that should be obvious. They sound like a hundred dollar speaker, but are not even half that price. I'm kind of confused how these could sound so good, but look so small and cheap.Sure these don't beat anything with a subwoofer or something like the $150 units, but they're probably the best deal you can find and still get decent sound.I'm extremely picky about sound quality. 90% of the time I use a pair of Headphones with Lossless music and a headphone amp. When I get tired of that I find the sound of these perfectly acceptable for music, but you just can't expect that much.They do have some negatives though. There is no headphone jack. I myself don't need it, but for some it'd be nice to have. The volume control is absolutely worthless. It takes effort to change the volume and it's almost impossible to shut these off with just one hand. The knob is just too slippery.

I hooked up these speakers and had great sound right out of the box within minutes. There is no bass unit to run, so I wasn't sure how well it would sound, but they really do work far better than I expected for just 2 small speakers that only cost $37.50.

I used to be a big fan of these little speakers. I use them a lot, I'm on my third pair in about 9 years. I take them with me on tour: I find they're good in hotel rooms and small studio apartments. Not a great sound, not much bass, but probably the best sound you'll get in such a portable product at such a reasonable price. However, to get three good pairs of these speakers over the years, I've had to order five. Twice, out of the box, they didn't work. Luckily, exchanges are easy on Amazon. So my admiration has slipped a tad, but I'm still using them.

I have enjoyed the speakers. The price is right for what you get and the sound quality is good. I must admit they are "short" on the base side of the spectrum, but they are little in size. They work well with my Apple wireless sound system. Would recommend them for sure.

I have been very pleased with the overall quality of my JBL speakers. The deliver clean audio and surprising sound from such a small foot print. The only complaint I would have would be that they are so light in weight, that I have to hold the speaker with the volume control to keep it from moving when adjusting the volume control. Maybe adding a larger non-skid matting on the bottom of the speaker would help keep them in one place. Over all I give them a 4 out of 5. Good job JBL !

I can't believe the awesome sound that comes out of these small speakers! I think I am driving my husband crazy. I keep saying do you want to hear how great my new speakers sound? I don't hear any buzzing some of people complained about. I have them plugged into a power strip with all of my other electronic equipment. They also work great with my Zune - another huge plus. The price is great too - plus I received a $5 credit on music downloads. Would definetly recommend these speakers. The only thing that would be nice to add is an out jack for a headset. Totally Awesome!

After reading most of the reviews posted here you might think that these speakers could literally blow your socks off with awesomeness... Well I can say that they are indeed excellent but don't lose sight of the fact that these are sub-$50 speakers so, while very impressive, they aren't going to sound like a $500 speaker system, so have realistic expectations. I have been using $200 Klipsch speakers at my workplace for 4 years - two little speakers and a huge subwoofer. I just bought these JBL speakers for my home office and although I definitely notice the lack of subwoofer I would say they easily sound as good with perhaps even better mid-range. I don't miss the Klipsch speakers at all.The clarity is superb. The closest comparison I can make is to the Bose Sounddock - I think if I heard them back to back I would be hard-pressed to tell the difference, which is a compliment to these speakers. As for design and visual appeal, the white speakers are pretty decent-looking next to my white iBook.The only thing I don't like about these speakers is the on/volume dial. It's quite tricky to grip with two fingers as it's made of smooth plastic and is bullet shaped, so I find myself often having to stabilize the speaker with my other hand while I turn the dial. It's a fairly minor annoyance though.If you're shopping for computer/iPod speakers on a budget then look no further. They're perfect for a bedroom or office. Don't waste your money on other speakers in this price range - I've tried a few and they're always disappointing. Just don't expect these to blow your socks off!

These are great speakers to use in your office or home. I bought them after researching lots of different models. I wanted white speakers to go with my MacBook and these certainly look great with it! I tried using them for a presentation and the sound volume was a bit less than what I would have liked, but they worked for the short video I was running within my PowerPoint presentation. I'm very pleased with these speakers and would recommend them for anyone looking for a great product with a small price.

I hooked these up to my computer at work, because they were just lying around (I'm the new, and only, IT guy here.), and I wasn't listening to them critically or anything, just using it to provide background noise at my desk. After a while, my ears perked up at hearing instruments I didn't remember hearing before in some of my favorite songs. I kind of went, huh, and wondered about it, but the quality of sound coming out of these speakers made me wonder what others were saying about it. I can't believe how cheap (low-priced) these speakers are! I am truly impressed, and would recommend these to anyone.

These speakers arrived today and were so simple to hook up and I don;'t understand why people are complaining about the on/off button. Yes, it is slippery but why are they repeatedly turning them on and off? I do not hear any of the humming that some people complained about. They look awesome in White vs the ones that Best Buy had at a higher price in chrome. They sound fine to me but I only have them connected to my desktop since my prior speakers just died after 3 1/2 years. I totally love these and am going to buy another set so I have an extra set if/when this set dies & heaven knows the price can't be beat.

I was looking for some speakers to hook up to my laptop for my dorm room. I'm pretty picky about sound, and the laptop speakers just don't cut it for me (or almost anyone). After looking at tons of reviews (and not just on Amazon), the JBL Duet Speakers seemed to be the best value for their price. I just got them, and I'm definitely not disappointed. For such small speakers, I'm amazed at the awesome sound they produce. I would recommend these to anyone looking for high quality, affordable speakers for use in smaller rooms, such as a bedroom or office.

These speakers are really great. The price is right and they look high quality. But most importantly the sound is excellent. They sound like a high end audio system. Crisp highs. Deep and smooth base. Very rich overall sound. My only gripe is that they dont come in black and the volume dial is too stiff.

I did a little research on some plug-in speakers for my desktop and these seemed to have good reviews and a very reasonable price. They came, I plugged them in, and they're wonderful! I have an iMac with the aluminum surround and the speakers match it perfectly.

This is the second pair we have purchased, and I believe they are a great value for the size. The sound is not top of the line, but it is pretty darn good, especially for $40 speakers. Way better than any built in speakers and they make movies and music much more desirable. I also take them on trips and use them with an ipod frequently and they sound great.

Hey, what can I say, they sound very good for desktop situations. These are not very powerful so you can get great sound in one room tops, and for the money what more can you expect! Forget an iPod dock, these sound way better than anything I've heard from docks around $100-150.The only reason I didn't give five stars: I bought two pairs of these speakers and one set already had a speaker malfunction. Amazon has an awesome return/exchange policy so that makes me feel at ease when I shop through amazon.com.If you want great sound and don't want to wake the neighbors, roommates, family, etc. Then do yourself a favor and scoop these up at the discounted price!

They are light in weight and small in footprint. The setup instructions are the height in minimalism: you actually have to imagine yourself in front of the diagram to know which is the right and which the left speaker. To me, the sound is clean and uncolored. I get a real kick out of Amazon USPS arrival estimates: nine calendar days from "shipment" from Phoenix to delivery in Colorado Springs. Those logistic maniacs actually accomplished it in six.

thee speakers say it all when it comes to mac speakers. I started to buy the BOSE (for the name mainly) but do to being a college student and single mom I got these because the price was great. I couldnt believe they sounded so good on this little old laptop. I feel like I have entered this millenium finally with these. Thank you JBL!!!!

You could buy a pair of speakers that cost less like I did but let me save you the trouble. The ones I bought from CA produced fair sound quality but it wasn't good enough for me and I sent them back. If you like you music to sound great like I do, spend the extra money and buy these. On the other hand, I see no need to spend any more than this either. These really are the sweet spot between high quality and low price.

Let me preface by saying I consider myself an audiophile but not an annoying music snob or superior techie geek. I am into technology just enough to get the sound quality I want and I'm willing to pay handsomely for it. I previously had Klipsch 2.1 for my computer until my speakers blew out and have Grado SR80s and Sennheiser SR100s for listening to music in my room and a pair of closed Sennheisers for travel.Having said all that, now that I'm a student and spend most of my time in front of a laptop or else studying, my main criteria for speakers became PORTABILITY, portability, and more portability.I wanted something light, easy to set up, easy to throw in a bag and travel with, and not nearly as expensive as my Klipsch 2.1's but with a comparable sound value for the price.I was going to go with 'the other' pair of portable speakers that is popular on Amazon but picked the JBL's for their bass and the fact they were specifically designed to reproduce a 'bigger' sound for their size.I am REALLY IMPRESSED and VERY HAPPY with my purchase!Cons:These aren't as sleek or portable as 'the other' pair. These will NOT fit comfortably into most laptop bags and while they are small and light, with their shape they will fit awkwardly in an overnight bag.Also these are NOT usb powered so require more cords, which I hate. However, this means you don't need a computer to listesn to your MP3 player and makes these speakers truly portable speakers for any source with the typical mini plug. And they are portable sized.Pros:But the sound? The sound is GREAT! I listen to a lot of bass heavy electronica and these are PERFECT. The bass is NOT muddy and the sound quality overall is clean and rich for small speakers and they differentiate tones very well.Comparing apples to apples, these are an awesome pair of small speakers and good value for the price. These will not shake your walls, but if you want that, don't be a cheapo and invest in a pair of real speakers.I just listened to a track I had heard many times before on my laptop speakers. On the JBLs with the volume up I was able to hear a lot of new details -- I didn't like the details and erased the track. Thanks JBL for helping me clean up my music library!Perfect for you AND your housemates:Also, I have 2 roommates who are light sleepers and this is PERFECT. The sound is just right for me sitting at my desk but the sound does not travel through the walls or door. I don't know what the technical term for this is, but someone else mentioned these are not 'loud' enough for group purposes.For a home office, dorm room, and solo use, these are a perfect pair of portable speakers with a small footprint.

These looked amazingly good for the price... the apple store was even carrying them, and they don't carry garbage.Well, I got them, plugged them in, and they were ok for system beeps and such. But put music on and MASSIVE DISTORTION.An absolutely terrible product!
