I already wasted more than 3 hours of my life on this piece of junk, so I will keep this concise: I followed all instructions didn't work, called HP tech support, 3 hours, escalation to level 2 tech, nice people apparently qualified, tried installing, disinstalling software, drivers, firmware. Nothing.I had sworn never to buy HP products again about 5 years ago, they are expensive to maintain, a headache to install, their software takes up a lot of room (so they can sell more computers?)...I should have stayed firm in my prejudice.

Installation was as easy as advertised....one click and it was done. Running great so far but is made of cheap rather light plastic, so I am concerned about its durability, particularly since it makes a clunking sound when it feeds paper.

I travel quite a bit and wanted a small laser printer to carry into a motel room. This is the smallest, lightest weight one I could find. I had the HP laser printer that preceeded this model for about 4 years and got thousands of prints out of it. The cartridges seem expensive, but they last for thousands of pages. It's easy to manually print on both sides of paper, don't need a "duplex printer". I would really recommend laser printers to begin with, and this one in particular.

For my simple needs, this printer works great. I have a windows Vista laptop and the simple and easy to understand set up instructions using a USB cable worked great and following this, the wireless has worked flawlessly. I have not tried a bunch of fancy prints or high volume prints, but for me this is an excellent printer. The item was well packed and easy to get ready for set up. The toner cartridge is easy to get in and out and printed crisply from the onset.

This is very good printer for the price. Installation was a breeze. I installed the wireless printing on my laptop and that worked too without a problem. The print qualtiy is great. Printing speed is reasonable and printer has a small foot print. Overall i am very satisfied with my printer.

It was really easy to install and I enjoy that it is wifi. It prints really fast and the quality of the print is great. The only thing is, it is pretty noisy when it prints, but other than that I love this printer!!!

I bought this printer to replace my HP 1000 Laserjet because HP provides no drivers for it for Windows 7. I was looking for an inexpensive laser printer to use at home as the 1000 had been for several years. The HP LaserJet 1102w fits the bill perfectly. It's much faster and produces clean, clear copy on most kinds of papers. When we go away for a week or more I don't like to leave things running, and the only way I could turn off the old HP 1000 was to unplug the power cord. The ll02w now has a power button! Of course, when not in use, it goes into a sleep mode that drains virtually no power, but it now can be turned off completely. The only problem I had was I had to use the install CD with my new Windows 7 machine because the computer only recognized it as a "device," not as a printer. When I installed with the CD it went right into the printer list on the control panel and worked perfectly.Also, you might look around for a bargain price. I was going to order it through Amazon, but found it on an unadvertised sale at Best Buy for $99.In summary, this is a compact, fast, efficient laser printer that can't be beat for general home or small business use.

I purchased this printer through a local retailer and was debating between the HP and a similarly priced wireless printer from Brother. The replacement toner cartridges are a bit more for the HP, but then again, they come with the drum assembly built in. This greatly reduces maintenance and potential hardware failures.Setup:As for setup, under Windows it's a snap. Put the CD in and follow the directions.Under Linux (I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx)) the install was easy. I visited [...] web site and downloaded the drivers. From there, I just followed the directions on the web page and it works like a charm.I've not used it with a Mac, but I did note that OSX is listed on the box.Printer quality:As for the printer itself. It has a very small footprint on the desk when the paper trays are not extended, and a small one when they are. It has excellent monochrome print quality and is very fast. As with all laser printers, the ink is waterproof once it's on the paper. I'd recommend it any day of the week.The printer's body feels solid when you handle it. The input trays are similarly solid. The output tray feels a bit light, but as long as you aren't abusing the tray, it'll be more than sufficient.HP Experience:For me, HP printers are generally very reliable and always has good driver support both under Windows and Linux.

Just received the HP P1102w wireless printer from Amazon today. The unit appears to be well designed and solidly made. Once I got everything out of the box, set-up with my wife's laptop took less than 10 minutes and was automatic (with me just answering a few on-screen questions).I am running the printer off a Linksys SRX400 wireless router, located in my basement. My wife generally uses her laptop in the breakfast room (a long distance from the router), but did not want the printer there. Once I had the printer working off the wireless router, I moved the printer into a bedroom (about 50' away from the breakfast room). The printer still worked flawlessly.Print copy is as good or better than the HP LaserJet P2015 printer I use downstairs. I realize I have only had the printer for one day. But, if it continues to work as well as it does now, it will definitely be a keeper.

Just installed the wireless driver on 4 different computers running MacOSX and XP, Windows 7, some running BootCamp. Everything worked great - noticed that the Windows installs needed a hard connection via USB for setup when installing Wifi.Printer is made in Malaysia and comes with USB cable (a bit short) and a power cord (not brick). Especially liked that the paper tray is large and the height is short for my setup.

Love this printer. Small footprint, easy setup, great price and fine quality laser black and white print. I didn't really need the wireless feature but it was so easy to set up I figured I'd just leave the usb port on my computer for something else. One of the cool features is that the printer powers down but when you go print something the wireless kicks the printer on and there is almost no time lag to print. I'm really impressed. I haven't had it for very long, and I have no idea how quickly in might run through ink, but I'm not printing a lot and don't expect a work horse with high yield. For my purposes I can't imagine there is a better printer out there at anywhere near this price.

I purchased this laser printer to replace an older inkjet that was starting to show its age. The new printer is super-fast and quiet. In going over the efficiency of the old printer's ink use, I am expecting save far more in the future. The price was GREAT for the options. It has a smaller footprint, so I can make more use of the surrounding space. I am thinking about purchasing the same unit for my secretary in the near future. I would definitely recommend this for anyone considering moving up to or replacing a laser printer.

This installed on two of three computers as wireless with no hesitation...the third still takes a cord. In economode it will print about 1500 pages. It's proving to be a real workhorse for the tax prep that it was bought for.The only drawback is that HP can't supply the ink cartridge and the cartridge is on the pricey side.

This printer is truly plug & plan. Very fast, good quality printer. Has a small footprint and is easyto load paper. Highly recommend if you need simple, quick printing capabilities. Haven't tried thewireless option, however.

I have bought 3 or 4 models of HP Laser Jet printers over the years and they all have installed easily and performed well. This model is very poor. I followed the installation instructions carefully and could not get the printer to work in either wireless or USB mode. It kept insisting that the printer door was open and that it could not print. The door was closed. The problem could be with the infamous Vista operating system on this laptop, but the bottom line is that I have no functioning printer. I will call a guru to try to fix the problem, but this will cost me more than the price of the printer. Very disappointing. Avoid this model.

The Printer is excellent, exactly what I was looking for.The seller however sent me a used printer first without the ink cartridge. After returning the article I did get a new printer. The whole transaction however resulted in my being without a printer for one month.

printer seems great, now that it is finally working ! Initial set-up was very problematic, as the wireless set-up did not go the way indicated in the instructions. After many hours I finally got it to print wirelessly, but then it kept printing over and over again! I finally found help info about correcting this problem, and now everthing seems fine. Actually, initial set-up problem may have been the result of my laptop having something messed up in it's "network adapter" setting.

This is an excellent printer, but not as easy to install as they would like to think. The full installation instructions are on the web, but nothing in the documentation shipped with the computer tells you that that is where you should look. The installation instructions do not tell you how to connect some computers wirelessly, but other computers on the same network via ethernet cable if they are not wireless. It turns out that this is easily, almost automatically, done, but nothing in the documentation tells you this. Once set up, the printer works flawlessly, either wired or wirelessly. It is a worthy successor to the HP Laserjet 1012, which HP chose not to provide new drivers for, for Windows 7 - I was not happy with HP for this decision. But I am happy with this new printer.

I wanted to choose a different brand other than HP this time because I was switching to laserjet for longer ink life. However, this particular one was on sale for $99 at BBuy so it was a good choice. It appears that wireless is not compatible with Mac only Windows?That's fine, but I am an Apple freak and wireless printing would be nice from a laptop. Also is it just Macs or does HP have a TON of updates for printers all the time?The other downside is that the cord sticks out 1+" in the back so it will not sit flush against the wall.My desk looks much better with a small black printer such as this compared to the 3-in-one gray HP before. Would I recommend it yes, hands down it saves energy by powering up and down automatically depending on use. It's small and prints about as fast as I'll ever need for a graduate student who does a lot of writing.Too bad it wont copy, but hey ink will last a long time and you get that hot off the press paper as it rolls out with your fresh prints.

Tiny footprint, seamless install and wireless connectivity with network. Exactly what we needed for an everyday, inexpensive printer. Replaced an aged HP3100. Only miss the easy-copy function of the old machine, this would be perfect with a scan/copy function.

Seems fine now that it's up and running. If you have a Mac, plan on spending an extra hour or so on your install. Once you figure it out, you'll wonder why they didn't just put it in the instructions.1) Install with USB cord and CD or downloaded software2) Set up wireless config (in HTML setup pages) WITH USB cord attached. When blue light stays on, you're good3) Remove printer from system (delete from printers)4) Remove USB cord5) Add printer, select 1102 with "type" Bonjour6) Print awayApparently they'd rather not let you in on that without a whole lotta hassle. Pretty weaksauce on the part of HP.

This was my first purchase of a home laser printer and I am very pleased. The wireless installation for my Windows Vista desktop took 10-15 minutes, which included moving the router six inches so it could interact with the printer without interference. I read many, many reviews on multiple sites as part of my pre-purchase research and found they were all the assurance and assistance I would need for set up, especially in light of the cartoon-ish instructions that come in the box.The product is compact, lightweight (approx. 10 lbs), quiet and prints beautifully. I do suggest comparing prices at various merchants. I discovered a $50 difference when I happened upon an online, instant rebate, with free 2-day delivery!

I set up the printer downloaded all the latest patches and software - it prints once then it goes to sleep and the only way to make it print again is to re-install the printer in Windows. I am a software developer and so should be able to figure out how to set up a printer but this one takes the cake.STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT

I've wanted a laser printer for quite some time but didn't want to pay a lot since it was only for home use. Inkjets are cheaper but since I don't use it very often, the ink dries out. So this laser was the right price. But also from the right company. I've been buying HP for a long time and they have quality products. I had this out of the box and up and running within 15 minutes. The printouts are quick and high quality. So much better than an inkjet.

Bought machine to replace dead hp4+ workhorse. Paper in output tray tends to come out curled which is a nuisance but a pile of books can flatten out the document. The real negative is the absolute lack of instructions or existence of an idiot button to restart a print job after the tray becomes empty and you reload the paper. Totally trivial and necessary task that earns an absolute zero rating !!! Restart from windows interface for printer did not restart the document. Piece of crap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that I really love this printer. As a Mac owner, I was skeptical about being able to connect my computer wirelessly to the printer; however, I did a little research and found out how. If anyone is having any troubleshooting connecting their Macs wirelessly, you should watch this video I found. It takes you step-by-step, and a plus is that the video was made my a HP employee. Some people have written that it is very noisy, but it doesn't seem any louder than my other laser printers. It does go in to sleep mode, but it wakes up as soon as you print a document without actually having to do so manually by pushing the power button. I would recommend this printer to anyone. You just need to have some patience if there is some troubleshooting. You can most likely find a solution.

I like everything about this printer - especially the price, but setting the wireless to work was a little difficult. There were no instructions in the box. I had to go online and find a youtube video which worked out just fine, but even those instructions were a bit complicated.

The box says that setup is easy with a Mac. The inside of the box says it's easy with a Windows computer. Who buys Windows these days?Virtually no documentation on wireless setup. And instructions are laced with jargon and no explanations.So...I called HP. HP says, "We don't support Macs with this printer."Nice. What a waste!If anyone can post a link to a website with setup instructions for a Macbook Pro and a Linksys router, I'll happily amend this review.I paid $200 for this thing. I just want it to work.

I needed a new wireless printer because the Jet Direct card went out on my old one (very old). I picked this one up for $[...] at Office Max, and couldn't be happier. It installed in less than 5 minutes. I hooked it up with a USB cord that came with the printer and it found the installation program immediately. After installing the drivers, it told me to unplug the USB. The wireless printer was up and running! In two additional minutes, my son's laptop was working on our wireless network. The print is clear and very dark. There was no wrinkle to the paper and the test page printed flawlessly. My only question is whether it will stand the test of time (my old one was 8 years old.)

I bought this as a home printer, I print a lot of pages out and I wanted an inexpensive printer but I wanted it to be wireless.It was very easy to set up, no problems whatsoever. The best thing about the printer is the fact that you can click print on your computer and the printer will start up by itself without me having to turn it on! A big plus for me.The only problem i have with the printer is the fact that I have to flip the pages myself for double sided printing.

Very nice printer. Very easy to install. Once on wireless, it is simple to set up other printers also because it has its driver in flash rom and new computers just need to load using it's own web page.

One thing that I really liked about this printer, is there is no need at all to use an installation disk. (although one is included) When you plug the USP cable up to the computer from the printer the installation/driver software is loaded to the computer from the printer via USB. Makes a very quick and easy installation.

This printer is great. The setup took a couple of minutes because my router requires a password. I had to plug it into my computer with the included USB cable.I love the fact that the printer shuts itself off and, without any intervention, turns on and starts printing as required.In addition, the speed is amazing. I've been used to an ink jet printer, which was speedy for an ink jet, and when I saw the first page out of the HP I thought it had just passed a blank page.Not having to plug this into my computer with yet another cable to add to my rats nest of cables is another great feature of the printer.I highly recommend this printer.

I was dubious but HP is my printer of choice, so when the time came to upgrade from our workhorse HP1012 to something that supported Network printing (AND Win7, and Office2010), I wanted a wireless printer. I found it cheaper in a brick/mortar local retailer but the reviews on Amazon were what made the decision. The installation was initially frustrating- SKIP Process A, use Process B for any wireless install and you will be amazed at how easily it sets up for you. Otherwise, it is an HP Laserjet, solid and dependable. If only the cartridges were cheaper.
