I purchased this for the mac so the set up was not so automatic but I found the HP customer service to be the best. It does make a difference who you get on the other end. as far as there customer service but when I got the right person setup was about ten to fifteen minutes. And support is there for ninety days.I purchased one for my daughters pc and the setup was quick and easy. My wife sends from her pc and I have two macs and an ipad they all work seamlessly with this printer after it is set up. I might mention that the resolution is not the best for photographs but for the money it is great.

We bought this printer last year since my daughter is in college and we needed something better than a deskjet. This has been an awesome printer, works everytime, was easy to set up with our network and all three laptops in the house can print to it!! I am just buying my first refill of ink for it after many pages have been printed for school and other things, I am very pleased with this printer and would say you can't go wrong purchasing this model.

When this device works, it is flawless, fast and reliable. Suddenly it decides not to work anymore.In less than 1 month since I bought it, it had to be reinstalled it several times because the network connection is lost if you tun off the device, if there is a blackout or just because.Support from HP is beyond pathetic, the first time after 2 hours they blamed my router.Does it work via USB? Sure! but I bought it for its wireless properties. Does it work USB AND wirelessly? Of course not.Any time you select "print" and cross your fingers waiting to hear the printer working... you know its not worthy product.If you are a masochist, buy this product.

Just got this printer home after buying it at office depot. Comparing it to other $100 printers I've owned in the past, its amazing!So I plug it in and plug in the USB cable.My computer (windows 7) says "hey, I see a CD drive and oh hey, an autorun? You want me to run this?"So I click run.and BAM, print drivers installed. And thats it! printer drivers. Nothing else. No other garbage, no utilities, or printer suite software or other junk. JUST printer drivers.Then it says "oh hey, wanna make this printer wifi?" Heck yes I do! and it detected my wifi network and asked for the password.Then "Hey boy, unplug that USB cable!"And then BANG, a test page! Over my wireless.Impressive HP. You actually delivered what I wanted, at a price I can afford, and aren't jerks about your toner either. Aftermarket toner is $14 on amazon. Other manufacturers lock that down with chips to prevent an aftermarket on the toner.

I love this printer. It works great with my MacBook and my husbands Window's PC and the wireless printing is awesome! I also enjoy the fact that I can send print jobs from my iPad or iPhone to this printer and it didn't take any more setup than connecting it to the network! Overall the pages print quickly and are high quality. Just a great printer that has worked well for over 2 years now.

Almost 5 but had to spend an hour on the setup!!! So far this printer is working great. The setup was not very intuitive. That's the only reason for 4 stars and not 5. I had to do a manual setup to put in my network security string. The software kept recommending the "auto-install" setup which I kept trying unsuccessfully. When I finally went to the manual (thinking I'd have to put in IP addresses and the like and not knowing how) I was asked to insert the wireless security string of the network which I copied and pasted into the printer software. I think the software should have indicated that I needed to do this and to do the setup manually. Now that that's done the printer works like a charm. Any computer geek would laugh at me for not knowing this but these things are advertised as being as easy as breathing to setup so I think it should be more intuitive. Anyway, if you're looking for a good reliable printer that (once) set up works every time this is the one.

This HP printer is okay for USB connections; works very well, has been very reliable if used that way. We use them in a high-volume environment where they print all day, and are subject to a lot of dust/dirt. They have been nearly trouble-free, and don't jam nearly as often as the printers they replaced.The only real negative is the wireless. We've had multiple problems with the initial wireless setup not working as it is supposed to. We've installed four of these, following the same steps (from the setup guide), and gotten different results/errors with three of them. The wireless setup worked without any issues for only one of the four printers. We decided just to use them with USB connections instead of the wireless, so it's not a big deal for us.

Spent almost 2 hours chatting online with HP support and I still CAN'T Print using WiFi. Downloaded latest drivers ran through all of the trouble shooting ideas without success. This printer may work if you are using MS Windows but not on a Mac using the latest version of OS X. So don't waste your time if you want to print from the internet using WiFi.... find another printer.... this one will not work.

I purchased this wireless laser printer only because it was an affordable AirPrint compatible printer in its class. However, the printer has two major disadvantages when compared to its major competitor (Brother HL2270DW) and also a major software flaw.(1) The output for each toner cartridge is nearly 50% less than its main competitor, Brother Printer HL2270DW. The HP's approx output is 1600 vs. 2600 for Brother. But yet the HP toners are more expensive. I initially purchased the Brother printer but was then forced to return it because it was not AirPrint compatible.(2) The Brother model is about twice as fast as the HP. But both output speeds are pretty good.(3) A dumb firmware update which is required in order to have the AirPrint functionality. The firmware update requires about 30 mins of your time and if you can't install it yourself, you would need to contact HP and spend 2 hours over the phone. Also, the best part is that if you ever unplug the device from power outlet, all wireless functions stop operating including AirPrint because the printer resets and thus removes the firmware update. Then you have to uninstall and reinstall everything including firmware. Disappointing.

We love this printer!! It is exactly what we needed. Yes, it only prints in black and white, but it's a laserjet, so most are black and white. We love that it is wireless and has a "sleep" mode so we never have to turn it off. The printing quality is excellent! And we love that we don't have to buy ink cartridges all the time. We have had this printer for over a year now and have only had to buy one replacement cartridge (any that's only because the one that comes with it is a starter cartridge that isn't as full). For $99, this is a steal!!

The HP LaserJet 1102w seems to be a nice printer at a reasonable price, although I have only used it one day so far. Instructions for setup of the printer on my home wireless network were very simple and clear. No problem getting setup.

My wife and I were sick of throwing money at our previous inkjet printers; paying through the nose for ink cartridges that wasted ink and dried up, becoming useless. This little laser is compact (fit almost out of sight in our flat-panel TV stand), easy to set up, wireless and it is fast! No wasted liguid ink (did you know every time you turn on your inkjet the machine pumps ink from the tanks through the head and into the felt over-flow pad??). It isn't color, but it produces a clear, sharp printout. If you want to print photos, then this machine if obvously not for you. But for every-day printing of documents, print-screens, on-line literature (common to have to download .pdf's these days), on-line coupons, etc., this little guy is wonderful.

This is a GREAT little desktop printer. It replaces an old HP 1300n ethernet laser printer. This new one has a much smaller footprint, is super quiet and prints great. The wireless was a snap to set up; one less cord to route around my desk. It shuts down quickly after printing so there is no noise but starts up so fast when a job hits it that you are not waiting on it at all. Seriously, I can't believe how great this printer is for the price!

The most impressive feature of this printer is startup speed. Goes from sitting idle (with no lights on) to printing the first page in 15 seconds or less from a WiFi connection.A couple of the other impressive technical features:1. AirPrint support: After upgrading to the June 2011 firmware release, the printer supports AirPrint, so I can now print directly from an iPad.2. CD-Free install: The printer has a built-in 'flash drive' and a Web UI with the install files and driver, so no need to use the included CD. I used the USB cable and a laptop to configure the printer initially on the network, then simply downloaded the driver to other PCs on my network using WiFi.3. Smart configuration: When the install sets up your printer, it sets it up on an "Advanced TCP/IP port" which supposedly will maintain the connection through IP changes. If this works it will be great, since I can continue to keep my home network simple and just use DHCP.Overall, this is an impressive printer for $99 and I would definitely recommend it.My only minor complaints were with the initial setup (over USB):(1) The scan for WiFi networks takes way too long. My WiFi router was 20 feet away and I let it sit there for 5 minutes. I think I eventually punched a button and the printer "woke up" and found the network.(2) I asked it to upgrade the firmware during the installation process and it didn't do it. Had to download the firmware update utility separately from the HP Web site (but was able to do the upgrade over WiFi).

HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer (CE657A#BGJ)The product didn't work from the beginning. Refused to pick up the wireless signal. I suspect it works w/o wireless if that suits you. amazon would not allow my earlier posts which apparently while true was too abusive Will be returning this as soon as possible.Now the custormer service is giving me a diffucult time when i request a return label. Won't be doing business with this vender again.T.Thrasher

I have been using six of these printers for an average of one year. We have had no repairs. The 1102w is an excellent choice for simple black and white laser printing. Because of the small footprint, we use them as a convenience printers on employee desks. If the employee prints a big job, he or she prints it on the main network printer. If it is a page or two or if the network printer is tied up, he or she prints it out on their desktop 1102w. The only downside is that the per copy cost is a bit high with a 1,600 page yield on a $58 cartridge, but the low cost of the printer offsets that. If you have high volumes and want to reduce your per copy cost, you should get a larger more expensive printer.

The print quality is excellent; the speed is very good and the sound is minimal. Setup was easy. The only criticism I have is setup of the wireless was a little confusing, and whether I could setup for both wireless and connected was not clear at all. Rather than deal with wireless I just setup for connected. I'm happy with that. I print rarely and so, whether I have to be connected is not an issue. I am happy to be back with a laser printer, and hopeful that given my low volume printing the print cartridges will last relatively longer than inkjets (which dry out over time).

I don't know how well this "works". Once everything was set up, it seems to be OK, but we'll see how this goes. The review is about the ridiculous setup. I'm a recent convert to Mac, from Linux, actually, not from Windows. I work in computers all day, every day, so I can usually find my way around the little issues that trip up non computer people. This is a "wireless" printer, yet if you have Mac OS X Lion, you can only print using the (very short) USB cable provided. OSX Lion has been out for a while, and is not an obscure OS. I bought this at Staples, in a hurry because I NEEDED to print out 2 pieces of paper for tax purposes. My other HP, which was about 6 months old, mysteriously stopped working that morning. After many attempts to revive it, I tossed it and ran out to get a new printer. The only decent models at Staples were HP's, and when I got home, spent a solid hour trying to get the wireless to work. Finally printed over USB, then spent another hour today trying to get it to work. I finally found the official support page where they basically say "use a different computer to set it up". That's what I had to do. If it was a week or two after Lion came out, OK, I guess, but its not.Fail. HP should have stuck to tablets.

I bought this HP P1102W laser printer because of my experience with them at work. My company has these printers for all the areas where sensitive information may be printed, so there is a need to keep the output within a certain office. The company printers have gone through many reams of paper without any trouble, so I hope my experience will be similar.It was a snap to install, it loaded the drivers automatically as soon as I connected the included USB cable and turned it on. It prints almost instantly when you press print, producing crisp black and white output very quickly, then goes back to sleep after about a minute until the next time it is needed.The entire family can print to it since I shared it on our wireless network. What a terrific value at less than $100, I hope the toner cartridges cost less per page than the inkjet printer we replaced, it was using $30 a month in ink.

I got this printer to work with my iPhones and iPad as my old HP network printer couldn't do so. I was able to set it up very easily and get it working my my iOS devices with no issues at all in no time. The print quality is great and the price is too.

I've just gotten this printer set up without much trouble. It did require a firmware update to support AirPrint, but that was easy enough once I found the update file on HP's mess of a website.My only concern at this point is that, when the printer loses power (unplugged or power outage), it has to be manually turned back on before it will print. I consider this a significant flaw for a wireless printer that is intended to support printing from, say, a different room. I am not referring to the auto-off power saving feature, but to a "hard" power loss such as utility power blinking. There are already enough clocks I have to reset and other things to deal with when I lose power. Remembering to turn a wireless printer back on just adds one more. This was not an issue with the 1022nw, which has a mechanical rocker style power switch.Unless there are any other problems, I'll keep the printer and maybe connect it to a small UPS so that it won't lose power in a short outage. I wouldn't expect the UPS to handle printing, but if the printer is idle it would keep it powered.)

At my house in the country my deskjet printers got so little use that they were dried up when I did need them, so when I saw this Laserjet for $99 I jumped on it. The toner cartridges can be pricey at $65 or so, but it's cheaper than replacing dried up deskjet cartridges for me, and I don't need to print color.Considering that in the early 1990s when the first home laserjet from HP sold for just under $1,100, and business models sold for about $3,500, this still seems like a bargain to me.It also works well (and better than my wireless Lexmark printer that lasted all of two months, and that wouldn't print anything if any of the cartridges were empty (if one color was gone, you couldn't even print black).Here's how to install the printer on a Mac with OS X (10.6) (if needed):1. Click Finder on the Dock2. Click APPLICATIONS under PLACES3. Click SYSTEM PREFERENCES4. Click PRINT & FAX5. Click OPEN PRINT QUEUE6. Click PRINTER SETUP7. Click the UTILITY tab8. Click OPEN PRINTER UTILITY9. Click the HTML CONFIG button10. Click the NETWORKING tab11. Click WIRELESS12. Click INFRASTRUCTURE13. Select your wireless network under AVAILABLE NETWORK NAMES (SSID)14.
