The printer is small but fast. Installation is easy, just plug in with the USB cord to the PC, and it automatically installed the driver on the PC. It's fast when printing. Just what I wanted.

Like the simplicity of setting it up to operate. I'm a functional user, not a techie and had it going in about 10 minutes. Like the speed, don't have to wait around for sheets to be coming out. Excellent value for a great product.

I love my new printer! It may only be monochrome but it's text is super crisp. I haven't ever had a laser printer before but this is just what we hoped for. It was a breeze to set up on Windows 7 and even easier on Kubuntu Linux. Though I don't know how easy it would have been had we tried kubuntu first as you plug in the printer (via usb) to the Windows machine and it auto-starts the setup program which enables you to choose how to set up the printer (via usb use-only or via wireless).The printer is very fast at starting up to print from sleep mode and it prints very fast compared to a crappy inkjet printer.I'm excited to see how long this starter cartridge lasts as our last printer (Lexmark x6575) went through ink super fast even on economy mode. It would bug us about needing to order new ink cartridges practically the same week that we put new ink in! And we don't print more than a few pages a month... It's quite sad. So I'm excited that we can get so many pages out of one toner cartridge. What a huge change! Thanks HP and Amazon!!

I purchased a HP LaserJet Pro P1102w to use on my LAN at my house. The purchasing process was easy and went without a hitch. I was sent an initial order confirmation and was informed when the printer shipped. I chose FREE SHIPPING, and the printer was shipped and received when they said it would.The print engine is very quick, and the quality is good enough for most needs, personal or business. When connected to a Win 7 computer via USB, the HP Smart Install kicked in and virtually installed itself. The printer is shared across my network, and other computers see it and have connected to it automatically.For the price, the printer is a very good value to use for everyday printing. I think its a very good value and could not be happier with the product and the process used purchasing it.

We bough about 6 of these at work before even realizing that they support Apple's AirPrint. Out CEO has an iPad so we quickly bought one for him to try out that feature. The downside is the shipping models don't have the firmware version that supports Airprint. Easy enough for an IT person to upgrade, but might cause a little pain for an average consumer, which is why I rated it a little lower there (and it doesn't get 5 stars overall). Airprint works fantastic and is super easy to setup once you have the new firmware installed.I loved this printer so much, and its $99 price tag at the time (though it looks like the price has crept up, too bad) that I immediately bought one for home and love it. The only downside (and this doesn't warrant a lower star rating, BTW) is that the paper is stored externally which usually means it will suck up any humidity in the house (the paper that is) and cause jams. That said, I have yet to have the device jam so it may not matter (though that top page does get dusty too).Go buy the printer, especially if you want to print from an iPad!!

What I like about this printer is:affordable price,wireless printing,small size (compared to other LaserJet printers)Just share my two odd experiences here:1. the duplex printingI printed odd pages first, and put the paper back and printed the even pages. But there is always that time when the printer fed itself with two or more than two pages at one time. It did not occur to a single-side printing job. So I just quit print documents in both sides.2. text faded when the machine prints more than ten pages at a timeWhen the machine prints more than ten pages, the texts start to get faded along some vertical area. But next time, when I print fewer pages, the problem is gone. I am buying a new toner and see whether it is the toner problem or the problem of the printer itself.So far, I am quite content with my purchase. But those printing problems make my rating one star less.==================Updates: It turns out that Problem 2 is because of the original cartridge was out of toner. I bought a new cartridge and problem was solved.

We had a LaserJet 1012, but it was no longer compatible with the new computers. This LaserJet P1102W is the same size and now works on the old and new computers. Unfortunately they changed the cartridge size, so we had to get another. This printer works perfectly for us.

A powerhouse laser printer for the average user.(a quick review based on a few days of use)For ease I'll split it out into a quick pros/cons list.Pros: - Worked out of box in Linux. Just plugged in the USB cable (turned off the wireless with the button on the top). Downloaded the newest HPLIP and ran the shell script provided. And that's it. Enabled CUPS sharing for it in the printer config GUI and was printing from the LAN within 10 minutes of opening the box. - Working with Google cloud print within 15 minutes of opening the box ( http://home.mutaku.com/wp/index.php/2011/02/serving-a-printer-to-google-cloud-print-from-linux/ ) - Very fast and efficient printing ... it's a laserjet. - Much smaller than I had envisioned (and looks nice in the all black) - Powers itself off after a few minutes of non-usage and will instantly pop back on and print when receiving a job (like a wake-on-lan almost) - Holds a ton of paper - Not auto-duplexing but you can easily flip the paper yourself to print on the backCons: - A bit loud (but really, who cares?) - I was expecting a little all-night hack session to get it going in our Linux-only environment, but it only took 10 minutes. Where's the fun in that?Overall, no complaints here at all. Worked flawless in Linux and runs via CUPS just great so far. A simple, get's the job done, printer. Not all those SD card slots and LED displays with flashing lights that faxes and emails and makes coffee. It's a printer that prints, and it does it very well. That's all I want from my printer. Maybe I'm old school, but a printer should print, and from my experience with all the inkjets and all-in-ones, they do lots of jobs but each one at a mediocre level (now i know this isn't true for all - i'm just grumpy). But this machine cranks out my documents and does so with a smile.

Does NOT work with Mac OS LION. They are selling this thing as Mac compatible when a huge number of Macs will not be able to use the airprint function because they have OS Lion or later. And HP is perfectly aware of this. I thought I could trust HP. Don't waste 5 hours -- as I and thousand of other did -- trying to figure it out. Just accept that they scammed you.

Every time I need to walk to the printer and turn the the switch on, and need to wait for a few minutes before I can send a print job from my computer. Shows error if the printer is not on or not fully ready (steady lights), that means waiting for a couple of minutes, and dealing with canceling the previous print jobs - waste of another couple minutes. It sleeps immediately, and again I need to walk to the printer to turn it on for your next batch of printing. Very inconvenient. Dumb design by HP engineers. Meaning of being 'wireless' is fully defeated.

This printer has worked fantastic right out of the box.I plugged it in and placed on a table near my Ipad2. I brought up an item to print on the Ipad2, hit print and the printer came up as the suggested printer immediately. The pages printed without any hesitation.I then moved the printer to a spare room upstairs in my house.I tried to print from downstairs and had no problems.And the price is very reasonable.

This is a great printer. Smaller then my old one. It is fast.The only thing I can say against it, is when I looked at the information about the printer, I did not read any where that the cartridge was only for 700 pages. So to get the 1,600. pages you have to get a new cartridge.Other then that I am happy with it.Idaho-Karen.

We loved this printer until wireless issues appeared after sixteen months of light use. The printer no longer recognizes our network wireless connection. We reinstalled the software and downloaded the newest drivers, but no dice. (I think the wireless radio is kaput.) It is now an expensive, ugly doorstop. We will buy a new printer (hardwired) from a non-Canon company. Canon's customer service for non-warranty consumers is non-existent and their website is useless for this not-tech-savvy person.

HP's documentation indicated this model was AIRPRINT compatible, WRONG!Using the Cloud maybe, did not try. I wanted a printer that was AirPrint, Wi-Fi, All-In-One, anddirect connect to my Desktop, this printer DID NOT meet my expectations.

Great printer, has a small footprint, and is very reasonably priced. Setup was a snap, no software to be installed and the Wi-Fi works great. I have recommended this printer to others looking for a cost effective solution. You can't go wrong with this one. A++++++

I recently bought this printer and set it up as a wireless printer for my mac. If I had just followed the instructions that came with it, I would not have been able to either set it up to work on my network -- or, even once I had done that, use AirPrint with my iPad. Turns out I needed to read through Amazon reviews to figure out the Mac installation issue, and then download new firmware for the printer to get it to use AirPrint. I'm technically savvy, so the whole thing took me less than 15 minutes. But if my parents bought this printer, they would be completely stuck. I really can't understand why HP makes no effort to make this machine easy to use.The good news is that once it's set up, it prints quickly and quietly. I'm very happy with it -- just unable to understand why HP doesn't try to make the customer experience pleasant.

If you're looking for a comparable cheaper printer, this might be the one you're looking for.For those of you who bought a printer not for massive printing and "not for using it inside your own bed room", this product should work fin for you.The quality of the printing is nice and it works normally(At least have not crush yet). It can print double side, but requires to turn the paper yourself. If you're putting it inside your bedroom, I strongely recommend you not to. It has a strong smell while printing and it kind of "smoke" while it works. Keeping away in the living room or somewhere else, it works alright.One of it's major proble is that it does not open by itself. In other word, you will have to walk over and open it every time you use it, but that does not affect the quality. Me and my roommate had some problem setting it up for both of us to use at first, but the problem got solved and worked fine until now.If you have a small pocket, it is a convenient to have a cheaper printer like this around. If your budget is deep enough, I would recommend you to get one with scanning and faxing ability.

Product looks nice. i printed some test pages from my PC and they look great. i am excited to have a cost effective laser printer for home use at this price. BUT...the user experience during install is a nightmare. i read the manual - i am that kind of guy - and followed instructions. well, it seems to work with the PC wirelessly thru my network but frankly i got the printer to use with my iPad/iPhone. neither of those devices can locate the printer. i went thru HP chat help services and they don't know either. 3 hours later...i am still fooling around. Where is steve jobs when you need him!!!! i would be careful if buying this printer. anytime you want to use something on a network, you need to be careful since the manual was probably written by a computer geek that actually knows what a "subnet" is. if you are reading instructions and they say that...you are in trouble. unless you are the .5% of the population that knows about computer networks.

The HP P1102W is a great, multi-featured wireless monochrome laser jet printer. We are currently using this on our 4 PC home network (mixed operating systems Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7). Setup is quick and easy: simply plug the printer into one computer on the network using a USB port, the driver software is stored in the printer's on-board memory (no download or CD ROM should be necessary). Then, follow the step-by-step setup instructions. In about 5 minutes, I was printing wirelessly from my laptop downstairs! Perfect!In terms of printing and performance, the page quality is excellent and print speed is more than adequate. This printer is intended for a light workload-- if you find yourself regularly printing 20+ page print jobs, you should consider stepping up to the next model. Unfortunately, the included toner was only sufficient for printing ~300 pages at high quality (draft mode will extend the life of your toner greatly.) The full-size replacement toners are rated for 500-700 pages.This printer is a sleek, shiny black with an extremely small footprint. The paper tray is front loading and printed pages are returned to the front of the printer. There is also small, manual feed tray for envelopes and special pages sizes with resides above the main paper tray. For storage purposes, both paper return and feed trays fold up completely allowing for easy storage of the device. In terms of duplexing (printing on both sides of the page) there is no automatic paper re-feeding, you will need to manually re-feed your pages to print on the opposite side. A word of caution however: on my printer, I noticed some ink transfer to the toner while re-feeding pages causing the subsequent prints to transfer "dirty" extraneous ink spots across the page. You may want to let your pages dry a bit before re-feeding them for double sided printing.Overall, an excellent printer and an excellent value. A-

I have been using InkJet printers for the last ten years at home. We probably only print 10-15 sheets per week. I got tired of being raked over the coals for ink and limitations like not being able to print if one of the ink capsules was low. I wish I would have looked into a printer like this long ago. Sure, it doesn't have color. But, that is becoming less of an issue for us. If we want to share something in color then that is what iPhones, iPads, and computers are for. I highly recommend this product.

I purchased this printer hoping to save money on ink for the HP ink jet that I own. The documentation supplied with the printer is of little to no value for Mac users. After many visits to HP help, Apple help, and Misc. internet sites, I was about to realize that I had purchased a rather large paper weight.I was finally able to get the printer up and running thanks to a couple of comments that I found in the instruction book for my modem.So far, the printer works well but for me was not worth the time energy and frustration.

Amazon had the best price on this printer that I ordered 12/30/11, then I found out it would not be delivered until 1/24/12. I was not happy but decided I could live with it. It is now 1/29 and I had to check myself to find out it is now not expected to be delivered until 2/6, but can I even believe that. I expect the product itself to be great; I have been using this printer for several years and it is very reliable, wireless, and inexpensive. The poor rating is because I do not have the 2nd one yet from Amazon.

Since I had an old HP1100, I wanted to stay with HP. I recently purchased this from Amazon, although I saw it at Office Depot for $100 as well. Very good product, small footprint. I installed it on a Windows laptop and on my Macbook Pro. The installation for Mac was a little difficult at first, but once I found help from HP's website, it was easy to do. I have posted the link at the end of this review in case you need it.Installation for Mac:1. Hook up the printer and turn it on.2. Connect the USB cable to your Mac and insert the installation cd. Run the execution file and follow the onscreen directions. When you get to the option where it has you choose Network or USB, choose Network and hit OK.3. Then go to your System Preferences and select Print & Fax.4. Click Open Print Queue and select Printer Setup.5. Click Utility, then Open Printer Utility.6. Click HTML Config. Click on the Networking tab, and then click Wireless in the left column.7. Under Communication Mode, click Infrastructure, select your SSID (network name), and then click << to select that SSID. If your SSID has a WEP/WPA, enter that in the Security Mode. Click Apply.8. In the confirmation box, click OK and then close out the HTML Config window and Print Queue window.9. In the Print & Fax window, select the HP printer and then click the minus button below to delete the printer (you need to delete the USB printer before you can add the wireless printer).10. Disconnect the USB cable11. Under Printers, click the Plus (+) sign to add a printer12. Select the printer with Bonjour as the Kind, and then click Add13. Close up the windows and you should be ready to print wirelessly!For installation on a Windows PC, it isn't as difficult. Simply follow the directions that came with the printer and you should be good. You'll probably have to download the printer software (or use the installation CD<<>>[...]

I love the HP Laser Jet P1102w. It prints fast and is a good product. I own two of them. I find that purchasing the toner from Amazon to be cost effective between 23-30 bucks for 2 of them.

This printer does it all. When needed it turns itself on and does the work. When finished it simply turns itself back off. It prompts you about low paper tray and cartlidge nearing end of life cycle. All you have to do is pay attention. This wonderful printer was purchased through Amazon, which also does all of the work for you.

I would think that by this time HP would know how to make a dependable wireless printer. I've had this printer for four months now. I use it occasionally, probably 500 pages a month. The results:When it works, it's great. But it is very finicky. Do anything out of the usual, like run out of paper, and it gets lost and you spend 5 minutes making it work again.To begin with the installation is a jumble of unintuitive steps. Best call tech support and have them walk you through. I have a mac and maybe that ads to the problem, but in terms of what one would expect from HP, its a mess.But it's the sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't that drives me nuts. My wife has a Canon all in one wireless that is flawless. Every time I print the Canon shows up in the menu I have never had a problem with it. The Canon is upstairs at the far end of the house-- a good 60 or more feet from the wireless transmitter, and it's good every time. My HP is 15 feet from the wireless and it sometimes has a hard time finding it.So take a look at the Canon wireless printers before you order one of these.

Have two of these printers and work great connected to computer but do not buy for the eprint feature. Took me about an hour to set it up for eprint and worked for about a week and then crashed. Error message shows "not connected" but the airprint works. Went on HP blog and read 48 pages of complaints about the eprint feature. HP has a lot of unhappy customers with the eprint feature.

Bought to replace my previous HP LaserJet, which HP stopped supporting on newer versions of OS X for no good reason.Tried to install while connected with USB, following the manual exactly. The configuration program that pops up after installer just quits inexplicably. Tried the backup suggested in the manual, which also failed.Then tried on Windows, also connected by USB. Despite retrying many times, it always hangs after saying "New device is now connected...".Found instructions online for an alternate install method. Yes, apparently HP's ridiculously confusing instructions about installing their software and configuring over USB are not necessary; the printer broadcasts its own WiFi network by default, which you can connect to to configure it! Agh! I then tried this, and I was able to connect to the printer and configure it for my home network -- but it never could connect. I tried resetting it so I could connect to it again and configure it again -- no luck.DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. I just spent hours dealing with this, with no success... and it should take just minutes. I will never buy an HP product again.

Lousy product. No detailed instructions.Asked me to load the CD for Mac use, then uninstall something. Did not work with the I pad( it was advertised that it would) or a networked computer. Does not work with a Apple router Airport Express.Did some reviews on it and some technogeeks got it to work with hour long phone calls to HP,phone support, updating some firmware etc. etc. I was hoping for a plug and play. Needless to say, I returned it.

This product advertises that it's crazy simple to install/setup. I was a little skeptical after reading some users' reviews that they had problems, but I was pleasantly surprised. It sounds like installing/setting up on a Mac is a little more complicated, which is unfortunate. Windows 7 setup was really really easy. Follow the directions and two minutes later you're set up and printing your test page.I also appreciate the size of this device. The front loading paper tray sticks out pretty far from the front when in use, and the paper isn't protected as much as I'd like. This is really only a problem because the printer is right at hand height for my roaming son, who will pull the paper out one sheet at a time. My previous printer had more of a covered cartridge for the front loading paper, and he never touched it. I don't print that often though, so I just keep the door shut and have to load the paper each time I want to print.

This has been a great little printer. I struggled to get it setup. However, the problem was with my network not the installation program. I use it for light weight printing, web pages, emails, etc. Heavy jobs still go to a larger laser printer. Good for home use in light applications. I would recommend it for this type of service.

I don't know if installation would be easier on a PC, but I have a MAC, and it was a disaster. After spending 2 hours trying to install this by myself, I spent over 7 hours on the phone with HP customer service trying to install it. HP's installation instructions are grossly inadequate. It requires complex software adjustments that, unless you have an advanced degree in computer science or a ton of experience in this area, these re-settings are virtually impossible to do on your own. HP's instruction manual provides no guidance in this area whatsoever. Dealing with HP support reminds me of Kafka's "The Castle." You get bounced around, disconnected, and when you find the purportedly right person, which by itself can take an hour, they are hit or miss. When HP says it offers 24 hour support, they mean access to online trouble shooting, not talking with a live person. Their representation of 24 hour support is extremely misleading. You're basically on your own. Moreover, I had intended to keep my HP multifunction inkjet for copying and scanning (and occasionally color printing), but that got totally disabled in the process of installing the lazerjet. So far, I haven't bought printer products from any manufacturer other than HP, because they used to have such a good reputation, so I'm not in a position to make any comparisons. I am not sure that HP still deserves its reputation for producing top of the line printers. Installation was a nightmare, and its still not over. Before you buy an HP printer, factor in the value of your time, knowing that you may well blow an entire day on the phone struggling to get the printer to work. Now, after all this wasted time, and the disabling of my multifunction HP printer, at least the lazerJet works, and it seems to print quickly and produce a high quality product.

I absolutely LOVE this little printer and suggest you don't get put off by the complaint about the ink cartridge being expensive. I discovered that for general office jobs, the economy mode gives perfectly acceptable results and will make the cartridge last a whole lot longer. Furthermore, after using it in the economy mode for several weeks and faded areas finally began to appear, I remembered the advice given for the printer I had used previously for over 16 years, a HP Laserjet 4MP: Remove the cartridge and tilt it back and forth about 5 times. This distributes remaining ink and does away with faded areas. Before I installed a new ink cartridge in my HP LaserJet Pro P1102w, I used the same little trick. Yes, it worked for this printer as well. I am still going in economy mode without faded areas. Don't know how long this will last but both steps [economy mode and gently rocking the cartridge] has definitely extended its use by several weeks. I did not rate the technical support because I haven't had to use it and my only issue with the printer is the fact that there is a minimum paper size limit and I can no longer print my checks.

My HP1300 developed a tear in the teflon sleeve covering the fuser assembly. The new part cost $100. This printer cost the same. Installation was automatic on my home network, and my son and I have access to a new printer for the price of the part to repair the old one. I did not use the wireless feature, preferring to connect it to my computer and let my son access it through the network. I have other things using my access point, and have found that sometimes the access point screws up and needs a reboot or something like that. So I have nothing to say about the wireless capabilities, but I loved the easy install on my network. Plus, I like that I don't have to turn it on or off, since it does not use much juice when left on all the time. Maybe it's a little more plasticy, a little noisier, and a little bit less reliable than my old one, but I like it ok. Cartridge costs are mitigated by buying generic refills, which are available for $17.It prints, I print, we print.

This is a good printer over all, but the one thing I noticed is, when printing a lot of pages at once it tends to burn through the toner a LOT faster and you end up with a MUCH lower page count per toner cartridge than when you do your day to day printing of 1-6 pages at a time.
