a little workhorsesets up easily on PCs and laptops with HP'svery well done software.A++++I have not had any problems with this unit.although I had to upgrade firmware to getipad2 printing ability to work.would recommend this unit to a friend.

I bought this printer for the wireless function as I have 3 users on laptops. Had replaced my aging Brother HL-2130 with it. Am regretting!! I have observed that the printout from this printer is not as well aligned as my Brother printer. Resulting in crooked printouts. The software and wireless is also quirky. As of writing, the rollers on this thing is moving non stop. Last but not least, the cost per page is higher for this printer. Am going to grab my old Brother printer from the storeroom! Have been using this printer for well over 8 months.

As an old printer technician I longed for the days of good HP laser jet printers that worked like tanks. This seems to fit the bill again. Its utilitarian but it's got wireless connectivity, the driver install is easy and doesn't install a bunch of stupid crap on your computer. Definitely recommend for a price under 100 dollars.

This little HP printer is quick, clean, and sharp - I love it!I have a color printer and a MFC but I use this little HP work horse most of the time.I got the bells and whistles with other machines and paid more.Now I have the solid functionality of the HP P1102w - it's my go to printer!For day to day printing and office work the HP gets my vote on this one!

This just arrived today. It took longer to unpack it than to install. With Win7, I didn't need to even use the driver CD. It is half the size & 1/4th the weight of my old HP 4. It is also much quieter & faster. If is lasts as long as my HP4 I'll be dead before it quits.

Bought this one for a home printer. It is easy to install and easy to use. The printing speed and quality are very good. Better than my previous Dell laser printer. The wireless function works very well. It is kind of easy to connect it with my home wifi network, and immediately every computer at home can print documents. I don't have much complain on this printer and I reccmmend it to every family who needs a fast tool to print documents, make records, prepare air tickets, make an extra homework or test for kids, etc.

This printer is great, I got it because of the AirPrint and wireless functionality.After using it for couple of weeks I'm satisfied with it to give it 5 stars.From the time I press print it takes around 3 secs for it to start printing from sleep mode.ProEasy wireless setupAirPrint for iPhone and iPad.Great quality for everyday printing.Power saving mode.ConNone that I can see at the moment.

I had an older HP 1020 that has given me years of exceptional, problem-free service. This model includes WiFi, so decided it was time to upgrade and remove some unneeded cables - just an aesthetic thing. Fantastic printer for my occasional needs. Just can't beat the dirt cheap consumables when comped to typical inkjet printers. Lightning fast, networked and quiet. Just love this little puppy.

I have had this printer for three days. I purchase local at brick and mortar store due to better pricing. It was purchased to serve as a backup printer to my Canon MX870 inkjet printer. You need a backup laser printer when you have a 9 year old printing everything that comes to her mind to an inkjet!My setup consists of two laptops computers running Windows 7 plus one Mac running OSv10.6. Before installing the printer, I did some reading online and read about how easy it was to perform a WIFI set up for this printer in Windows and how hard it was to set up in the Mac.First, I set up the two Windows 7 laptops. Set up was very easy. You plug in the included USB cable to the laptop and the printer runs its own installation program. Windows drivers are preinstalled on the printer and are downloaded to the laptop. During installation, you are prompted to select WIFI. In my case, as I have a secured network, so I was prompted for the network password. Once entered, the printer connects to the network and you are done.Now, installation on the Mac is another story. First, no Mac drivers are installed in the printer, so installation is performed from an included CD. However, you still need to plug the printer to the Mac using the USB cable and complete a USB installation. Then you need to delete the printer, disconnect the USB cable and then add the printer as a WIFI connection. The problem is that this is not what the included instructions say!More detail on the Mac installation can be found in the HP Customer Care website. Look for a document titled: "Macintosh: Installing the Product Software in Mac OS X v10.6 for a Wireless Network Connection".The only drawback is the cost of toner and the expected yield from a toner cartridge, which is rated at only 1,500 pages. Other wireless laser printer in the same price range, like the Brother HL-2170W and the Samsung ML-2525W yield an estimated 2,500 pages and also the toner cost is a little cheaper. However, Mac installations on these two seem to be more difficult from what I read!The printer itself has performed wonderfully after completing the installations. I would recommend this printer to anybody looking for an inexpensive Laser printer for personal use.

It is a 3.5 stars or a 7/10 in my book. My Canon inkject printer inks were drying too fast when not in use. So I literally buy ink when I never even used much of it. Got tired of this and decided to go laser. Walked into OfficeMax and there it was for like 100, so I just picked it up. I must of gotten a bad one, since it leave crease lines a 1/3 apart down my paper, by the gears that move the paper. I used the 24# inkjet paper first and the creases are huge. Then I got the 28# laser paper and the crease is still there but not very noticeable. The bad news I can't use it for professional printing (oh, here are so creased resume), just junk printing and minor stuff.Positive:+Fast printing+laser ink will never dry up+wifi is a must for more then 2 computers at home. If Samsung laser printer had it at this price, I might might of gotten their models.+Small footprint, must be one of the smallest I ever seen.+had no problem with setup or wifi setting, works fine.+fairly cheap, but on sale.Negative:-Crease on paper, every single one.-laser toner isn't cheap, saw it will cost me 70-80 bucks-Nosier tehn a inkjet, but it price so fast.Neutral:*I wanted 2 sided printing, but I guess I would pay over 200 for that model.*notice puff coming out of it once.All in all, I want to try out laser just to save on ink that I was wasting on inkjet drying out. I am so disappointed in the crease made by the gears, I might return or exchange it. I do like this little laser printer.

I had a HP LaserJet at work for a couple of years and found that not only does the printer last a long time but also the toner, so I got the printer for my parents to use with their laptop. It was easy to unpack and get set up, but installation was little harder than I thought it would be. I had to use the disk to install the printer on their lap top (easy), but getting the wireless connection set up was a little frustrating (I just hope that they don't do anything where I have to go back and set it up again). I would recommend this printer for anyone looking for a good quality printer that just prints black and white, and you don't have to replace the toner every ream of paper or less. The replacement toner is a little expensive, but compared to other toner and the limited number of pages you can print with them, and the fact that you can get the toner refilled with no issues, it is well worth it.

I bought this after having a Dell ink jet all in one printer for a year. I only used it for printing coupons or documents at home. I was tired of having to buy color and b/w cartridges, even though I only print in b/w. Even buying remanufactured cartridged, it was still about $20 for both and they don't last long. I decided to get a laser printer as I don't need the multifuntion or color printer. I saw that your could get a remanufactured laser cartridge for about the same cost as I was paying for the two ink jet cartridges. Plus, the laser cartridge will probably print over 1000 pages. This pretty much set up itself after pluging in the USB and using the self installation. The first time through, it errored out. I tried again and it completed successfully and found my wireless connection. This has a smaller footprint than my old Dell and is a very stylish black. I would highly recommend. Also, be aware that this has a cartridge/drum combo so there isn't the extra expense of buying a drum along with the toner (Epson, Brother, and others). This is a huge deal if you ever had to buy both.

I have had this printer for about 7 months and it has worked great so far. I have been using with a Dell Laptop and printing anywhere in my apt works just fine. I am trying to figure out how to set up with my iPad 2 as well, but haven't gotten there yet. I haven't had to replace the ink yet.

This is a great printer in every aspect. Laser printers offer sharp text and fast printing and this one is no exception. The package for the price is unbeatable. Laser printer with WiFi for under $150? Sign me up! I was definitely not let down with this unit. WiFi set up was a breeze and HP's Smart Install is amazing. 5 minutes after getting the box open, I was printing wirelessly with my laptop. Reliability is a perfect 100%. I've been printing less and less over the past several months (it automatically goes into a low power mode after printing and wakes itself up when receiving a new print job). Any time I print something, it fires itself up and is done in a blink.Highly recommended.

This product is worth its price. If you are interested in HP, I strongly recommend this printer. However, the wireless is not useful because you must disconnect other wireless. To some extend, it is inconvenient.

Massive problems connecting to the machine both on my pc and my wife's macHave uninstalled and installed multiple times and at present considering throwing it out the window.My wife can't connect at all, either via wireless or USB. I can every once in awhile.Not worth the headache.

The printer works as advertised. Wireless connection provides added convenience, cutting down the clutter with the wire hook up and allowing different computers to use the same printer. However, you could not send a document to the printer remotely via Internet, because the downloaded software for that function does not include this printer. For non-heavy duty printing, this machine is adequate, considered the price.

This is a well thought out black and white laser printer from HP. Its main draw is that it comes equipped with 802.11b/g wireless connectivity so you can truly place this printer anywhere in your home and not have to be tethered down to a device for printing. You can either add your printer to an existing wireless network to prevent random hooligans from using your paper and toner, or you can use a simpler "ad hoc" network to allow complete access.The eight computers we have in our home are all macintosh computers, so I was a little disappointed at how thin the Mac section of the manual was, compared to the Windows section, and then was frustrated that the instructions were actually incorrect.The instructions call for the user to initially connect the computer to the printer via USB cable, and then install the printer drivers. However, if you follow these directions, you won't actually setup the printer to be used wirelessly, which was the point. You have to reconfigure the printer through System Preferences, making sure to select the device via Bonjour (not USB).The HTML based interface for configuring the wireless settings on the printer are straightforward and the link to specific HP toner cartridges needed self-serving but well placed.

This is the best printer I've ever gotten. It dances circles around the mediocre Samsung laser, and, is WAAYYY faster than our Canon inkjet. I use it to print out letters, legal documents & contracts. The output is the sharpest, by far, of any our printers, the footprint the smallest. Unlike our Lexmark the wireless setup is flawless, and we don't have our time wasted by offshore tech "support" babbling about bogus corrupted print drivers. Unlike hobbyists our own main interest is not 4-color photos, but, letters, legal documents & contracts. Sharpness, professional look, bullet-proof dependability are paramount. HP's Mac implementation & documentation is incomplete, but, their phone tech rep is even more Mac literate than I am, speaks American English just as I do, doesn't just read some drivel off a cue card, and got this baby humming on our network. Can't yet offer any input on replacement toner, except to say that I emailed several sellers of knock-offs, and, not a single one was prepared to commit himself that his (supposedly cheaper) product would produce same quality print quality.

What a great little printer- I use it at a second office where I just needed somemthing that had good print quality but was not a big investment as the printer does not get daily use. This fits the bill- compact, inexpensive (under $100.00) and reliable, all without sacrificing print quality!I have not been disappointed!

I love this little printer. Saves power by always going into sleep mode. BEWARE-wireless set-up for MAC is a little tricky. See other reviews for help.I like this design style because it is easy to add different paper, for printing ship labels etc... Easy access to adding (changing) paper, is very important to me!!! Does envelopes, cards and all the rest without flaws. I have been using daily for about 4 months and the cartridge is going strong. Good design, great price! Go for it...

This is a simple black and white wireless laser printer that works as advertised. The wireless function wasn't exactly "plug and play", but once I re-read the instructions and followed it step by step, it worked. The only annoyance is that it doesn't wake up automatically for printing after it shuts itself off when idle. Bottom line, I'm happy with it overall.

I had massive problems trying to buy this printer at Hewlett Packard's website. The Amazon vendor I finally bought it from neglected to mention what was in the box as shipped so I paid extra for an A/B printer cable I did not need. The printer is very cheap and works--unless you want to print envelopes or custom size cards. Good luck figuring out how to do this correctly.

Many people who consider a wireless printer need a choice because of either the fact that they want to print from more than 1 computer or that there isn't a good place for a printer near their computer. For me, it was both.I have this HP laser printer setup on a home wireless network. Both my wife's PC running Windows Vista and my Mac running snow leopard are able to print flawlessly. The setup wasn't too bad... You need to read the manual and follow the steps! For setup, you must attach it to a computer via usb. Unfortunately, the included USB cable is extremely short, you have to have it right next to your computer. If you are buying one of these wireless printers, there is probably a good chance you don't have space right next to your computer! Luckily, I had a longer cable and set it up on the floor.After setting it up with the PC, I was able to add it as a recognized printer in System Preferences of OS X.The printer seems fine, the included ink cartridge is rated for 1600 pages. I printed a few test documents and the ink is crisp and clear. For the money advertised, this is a great deal. Probably most people are better off with a black and white laser printer and just bringing their photos to the photo lab at a drug store for printing than owning an inkjet photo printer.

I was looking for a HP wireless printer that is easy to work with my HP computer. I thought I found just the right one so I bought it. Except it ONLY prints in BLACK ink. Nowhere does it clearly say that it ONLY prints in black. Now I have to pay over $12.00 to return it. And I still don't have a printer.

Simply awesome. The obvious feature that makes this printer easy and convenient is of course the Wi-Fi capabilities. I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend, because she prints so much material because she's doing her masters. She would spend too much money on, or run out of ink on her inkjet when she wanted to print b&W documents, so it didn't make sense. I urged her for years to get a laser printer, and since I already own an HP 1012 laser, I convinced her of it's great printing, not to mention that the toner lasts a long time. So I finally got her this printer when her inkjet altogether gave up on her. The price was great, and what was a bonus for me was the wireless capability. Now she can work on her laptop and print directly from her dining room table or her bed, or wherever she is.

I purchased this printer and from day one was not satisfied. The print quality was terrible. I went through HP customer service through they're site, and after almost 2 hours was told that they would replace the printer at no charge to me, and that someone would contact me by telephone. Upon receiving the telephone from someone whose accent was so strong I could barely understand, I was ask for my credit card number. When I refused, I was told that is the only way they could replace the printer, without charge. Sounds like a scam to me. I will throw the printer in the trash and purchase one of another brand! LC

Printer continually loses its IP address for the wireless. It has to be re-setup every-time you use it. HP is no help. The printer does not turn on automatically when you send a print job to it. I'm a Network Systems Admin and I would not recommend this printer if your sole purpose is wireless.

Although this printer has many laudable features, it has a significant problem that potential purchasers should be aware of.I purchased this printer for school. I often print papers of 40-90 pages in length. I thought I would be able to use the printer's manual duplexing feature to help me save paper by printing on both sides. The HP software makes this easy. It will first print the even-numbered pages, then you just put the pages back in the paper bin, and it prints the odd-numbered pages on the reverse side. And you use only half the paper. Unfortunately, with the longer papers, something goes wrong when it pulls in the paper to print the odd-numbered pages. The pages stick together, and I end up with a paper where the pages are badly out of order. So much so that the document is unusable. So, it ends up wasting a lot of paper and toner. And it seems the longer the document, the more likely it is to be a problem.And it's really too bad because the product is pretty good in every other respect. The first page comes out unbelievably fast, even when the printer is asleep. The speed of the printer is good. And, strangely, the paper handling in the first six months I've had it -- aside from the duplexing problem -- is good. It hasn't jammed. The print quality is also just what you expect from a printer. On Windows 7, setup was easy. I use the wireless feature, and have had 0 problems with that.The toner is more expensive than I would like. But maybe that's just the way all printers are these days. The starter toner cartridge really is quite small, and I needed a replacement very soon after I purchased the printer.

I really cannot rate stars on this purchase. I was excited to try my new HP printer when I received it but exceptionally upset when trying to install. The printer had two broken pieces of plastic. I was surprised because the box it came in was totally pristine and arrived quite timely. I have returned the printer and will simply buy one locally that I can view prior to purchasing. I'm really disappointed because the Amazon purchase was so easy and I really thought it would work out. I'm awaiting my refund now.

I've had the printer for several months now, all is well. I did need to initially plug our laptop into the printer to get the wireless printing set up, but works great now. We did have a power outage which required the printer to be turned on manually, once that was done, everything works as it should.

Good Printer. The HP manual is written poorly. It leaves out information on installation such as leave the print "on" and it will turn off automatically. Some of the bells and whistles you must hunt on the net to find how to add them to the printer. As far as the actually printer working it is great.

I bought this printer 3-4 months ago for our small office. It worked great at first -- fast and quiet. After the small initial toner cartridge was used up and I put in a new cartridge, the printing deteriorated markedly. It was streaky, with large (unpredictable) areas blank or gray. After several weeks of frustration, I took it back to the vendor. They replaced it with a new one. Same situation -- great printing for a while, then deterioration.It is not helpful for a printer to be inexpensive if it is not reliable.

HP claims this product has AirPrint support. It does not and HP can't figure out how to update firmware so that it will work. HP claims there is a firmware update since July, 2011, but it is November and that update still does not work. This should be a simple problem to fix but HP cannot figure it out.

Although the printer arrived with an installation CD and instructions on how to link the printer to your computer, it contained no instructions at all that might help a newcomer to laser printers actually get started. In the past, I used only inkjet printers, so had no clue at all to such basic matters as paper trays and what the flashing lights signified. I had to google this elementary question--"How do you put sheets into a laser printer?"--Happily, Google actually provided an answer--but the answer should have come from the manufacturer! I had to telephone HP to find out that I needed to pull out the cartridge and remove packing material. (Ialso needed instructions on how to pull out the cartridge!) And what hurts most: they do have instruction manuals on file. But you need a lot of help to find out how to get your hands on those manuals.

I've been using the p1006 for a while and have had no issues. Quality is not image quality but it works for the uses. Setup was easy and quick, no issues. I'm very happy because now I'm able access from all computers without keeping one of my computers on to supply access to all the other ones. it's a p1006 with the wifi capability. it automatically goes into power save mode with-in a minute or two, but still allows for access to do the random print job with out having to go power it back-up. No complaints. great Printer.

bought this to replace a different HP laser printer no longer supported by HP for the Mac. got it for the size, function, price and Mac adaptability. got it very fast. was easy to set up right out of the box. not using it wirelessly. i am not a high volume user. has performed as advertised and anticipated. small footprint and fairly quiet. i turn it off between uses although there is a sleep mode. have no complaints as yet. would get it again.

Outrageous. Five hours on the phone with product support and three "experts" could not get the wireless to work! Wireless issues seem a rather common complaint. This experience was outlandish and unacceptable. Totally frustrating. Returned. Totally unacceptable installation nightmare and product support.Aside from that when it goes into power saver mode you can not t3ell if it's on as not even a power light lets you know.Do the math and at 1,600 pages per cartridge @ .03 per page it costs about $20 to print one ream of paper. At $60 per cartridge and a monthly duty cycle of 5,000 pages that about $200 a month in toner alone. All totally unacceptable.

After reading a number of reviews discussing the difficulties with using this printer with a Mac, I felt compelled to write this review. For starters, you need to know that I am not a computer person. Computers and I normally don't get along. That is why when my PC died, I decided to get an Apple product. All of my other Apple products are user-friendly, and so is the MacBook. I purchased this HP laserjet printer becuase I was tired of the ink in the inkjet drying out. The printer has a small footprint, and it's tough to find a better value for a wireless laserjet that will be used for miscellaneous home printing jobs. With regard to the setup with a Mac, do yourself a favor and go to the Amazon.com review posted on October 30, 2010 by R. Ruiz. He sets forth 28 steps to follow after you have downloaded the software that comes with the printer. I had no idea what I was doing, but I followed the very specific and accurate instructions by R. Ruiz and sure enough, the printer was installed with wireless capabilities. Not including the time it took to take the printer out of the box and plug it in, the installation took only 15 minutes. Do not be scared off by other reviews that bemoan the difficulties with installing the printer on a Mac. While the reviews are correct that the HP software and instructional booklet are useless when setting up the printer wirelessly with a Mac, the review by R. Ruiz includes all of the instructions you need.

I bought this printer for my homeworks; it is quite and works perfect. I did not have any problem for the installation, wireless works great. I use it from my desktop and laptop. Of course it is close to my routerDefinitely I recommend it.

Just got this today, and I am very pleased with it in general. It has an exceptionally small footprint, yet functions are all there. I like the quick shut down, relatively quiet printing process, and very quick to wake up for printing. Very fast printing also, with good quality print. Setting up Envelopes was a bit tricky, but finally got that set up.I have three computers, 2 being laptops, so installing the drivers was not too bad...just a note that for some reason, you have to connect the printer via USB while installing the drivers to each computer, so you have to bring the laptop physically to the computer to install drivers. Usually you can install to one computer, to get it on your wireless network, and then just install (a disk is included) the software on other home computers to connect to the printer, but even with the software disk, installation on the other computers required physically connnecting the printer via USB to the computer you were installing the drivers on..that was a first, but because they are laptops, not to much trouble.Other than that....very nice personal laser printer..I recommend it.
