This printer is performing well and the wireless set-up was not bad, not exactly as described, but worked out okay. My wife uses this printer in the kitchen for her notebook computer. The compact size is what got our attention.

I needed a printer for school and this was the printer for me. It doesn't take up a bunch of space and it hooked up easily enough to my wireless network. For the price and affordability it is great. I upgraded my Mac to Lion and had some issues installing it, but fortunately my wife's mac was running Snow Leopard so I was able to get it hooked up and running after a while. If you are mac user I suggest upgrading to Lion after you hook it up. It probably will make everything easier.

Initially the printer left a large 2" wide blank stripe on each page. Also had lots of issue getting it to install with my Mac. Called the technical support and they put a very knowledgeable guy on the phone right away who stayed with me on the phone for a couple of hrs and took control of my laptop, fixed all the installation issues. The blank stripe was because the laser toner had to be taken out and shaken.Now the printer works pretty well. Love the wireless feature. I keep it in a room about 50 feet away and it prints just fine.A few months later the wireless feature gets less reliable. Not sure if it is a software issue. Works sometimes and does not the rest of the time.

Great printer and, contrary to what some report, WORKS FINE WITH LION OS ON THE MAC. Also, with free firmware update from HP, prints with Apple's mobile IOS from my iPhone and iPad - wirelessly!

hp firmware updater crashes. wireless config crashes. i can print via usb connection but cannot use this wirelessly, which is why i picked this model. very disappointed -- i expected more from hp.

My HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer is working well. I do like the small footprint and so far the quality and speed have been very good. I am using the wireless function with a Mac, and the set up was a bit complicated -- especially since I had to look up directions on how to do it on the Web as they weren't included in the documentation from HP.

Bought this computer for my kids' iMac to replace an inkjet printer. Driver disk that came with it was blank according to my Windows machine and the Mac. Got it set up fine by downloading drivers for my Windows machine from HP's site, but I bought this computer for use with the iMac.In short, this printer simply didn't work with the iMac OSX. Not by USB cable, nor via wireless. I tried all the fixes that I found on the web. Seems there are lots of iMac users out there that have had similar problems. None of the fixes worked, not even those on HP's pages, so I returned the printer to the vendor.I'm told that low-end laser printers render the page as an image and while that scheme works fine for Windows machines, it is problematic for the iMacs.One star because the setup disk was blank and no drivers available for the iMac from HP or on the setup disk.

I bought this printer for my house after I saw that my sister and I print a LOT of pages on a weekly basis, and a lot of pages at once. She usually printed out 20-30 page documents and our other printer would take a very very long time to get them out. The printer in my dads office is nice and fast BUT it runs out of ink after like 40 pages. So I got this printer for speed and long lasting cartridges. Another huge thing for me is the wireless. We have a pretty big house, we have one desktop and 6 laptops. It got pretty ridiculous to have to constantly go into the computer room and either print from the desktop (After emailing yourself the document), or unplug from the desktop and into your own laptop. And we all know how difficult it is to share a printer on Windows, ugh!So this printer came into my life and home. Connecting it was a piece of cake and all my laptops and desktop connected pretty easily. My house has two Windows XP, an Ubuntu, a Windows Vista, and 3 Windows 7's and they all connected without too much of an issue (sometimes the driver was harder to find than others). The printer is very fast, and very quiet. We all love it, and for once I didn't have to hear an earful for wasting money.

Bought this based on Consumer Reports' assessment, combined with reviews on this site (my usual purchasing process). So far so good.Pros:- Appreciate the small footprint both vertically and horizontally,- the fact that it turns itself on and off,- speed of printing,- ease of loading paper.- Hard-wired (with USB) set-up was very easy with the enclosed disk.Cons:- Aside from the disk provided, HP guidance was quite hopeless with respect to Macs, including on their website. (WHEN are suppliers finally going to realise that Macintosh is no longer a 'fringe product' ?!?!?!)- Only managed to get the wireless set-up thanks to two Amazon reviewers, Joze Melgarejo and *especially* R. Ruiz below -- thanks to you doing so took less than an hour and did not require any contributions to the Bad Word Jar. Muchas gracias ! Wireless printing works like a charm so far.Too early to assess cost of printing and # of copies per cartridge, or expense / ease of new cartidges.So far no "constant hawking from the driver to get me to buy more supplies is irritating", which another reviewer has mentioned -- if that happens and can't be shut off there will definitely be contributions to the Bad Word Jar ...

I have used and owned HP Laser printers for years. My previous printer was a P 1006 which I had for about four years and loved. Unfortunately, my ex got custody of it when we parted. I bought this one as a replacement a month or so ago and have been very happy with it.Everything about this printer could be described as 'easy.' If you take your time and follow the enclosed set up instructions you should have no problems. Even the wireless setup was mostly trouble free, but you do have to hook it up through USB to get the WiFi working.Print quality is excellent and I especially like the ability to print envelopes and letters together with Open Office (MS office does this too, I think.) It's very handy for personal or business correspondence.All in all, I'm happy with this purchase, plus I got a good deal through Amazon.

Good printer for the price. Set-up simple. Printer turns itself off if not used for a while which I like as I generally forget to turn printers off at night. Prints both sides easily. Good value. $25 less at Amazon than office supply stores.

Our printer is only a month old but so far, so good.It was easy to install (my in-house techie took care of doing that) andthe results are terrific. The images are sharp, and the printer is quiet and fast.One inconvenience is that the printer takes up a lot of space on the desk so we keep it on the floor.Other than that, very pleased with product and would recommend it.

I received this printer in less than a week, well packaged, with instructions and in working order. I am satisfied with the operation and quickness of this printer, however I could not get the wireless feature to operate and did not contact HP for help. I have an inkjet HP wireless that works fine in the wireless mode so don't know what the problem was concerning connectivity with this one. That was the only reason for less than 5 stars. Thanks Amazon for the quick service.

We love this printer. From the moment I push print and when the first page comes out is less that two seconds! It is fast and the printing is crisp and clear. And on top of that the printer is not loud. My 2 month old is not disturbed by it and he can hear everything! I had a little trouble wirelessly connecting two computers to the printer. The first computer a Windows 7 laptop connected right away and very easily. My other computer a Windows XP box would only connect during installation and print the test page but not connect after the installation was finished. My solution was to download Bonjour printing software for the Windows XP box. Once that was installed, I used it to connect that PC. I've had no problems since.We've been using the printer to print coloring pages for the kids, homework for me, and printing labels for half.com. It works smoothly and the print quality is excellent. If you don't need color printing this is a great printer. Or do what we did. We already had a color deskjet and the printing costs were just too expensive printing in color. So we bought this printer because with this printer it is only about one cent ($0.01) a page (that assumes that you purchase a print cartrige for $65 and are able to print 6000 pages). That is much cheaper than using our deskjet. Now I can afford to accidentally push print.Overall this is a great printer! We are very satisfied.

I now have had 2 of these and the printer starts out great. After a month the paper stops pulling paper through.I print with labels and regular paper. It is frustrating and very sporatic when it wants to misbehave. I called support and they seem baffled and never have heard of this. Strange that a year later the new one is good out of the gate and now starting to act up sad I bought this

I purchased this printer to have access to printed output on the first floor of my home. The network install was a breeze, as the installation routine and drivers are housed on the printer and installed over the network. Printed output is high quality.The default settings have the printer powering off after five minutes. That probably helps earn the Energy Star rating. However, I disabled that setting so that I can print without physically visiting the printer to turn it on every time.The printer cost me $90. It looks like a replacement toner cartridge, when I need one, is $65, so prepare yourself for the maintenance cost.

Setting this printer up on the wireless network for my macs was a gigantic pain and a huge waste of time. There's a helpful youtube video for it, but even THAT wasn't working for me. Called customer service and finally worked it all out on a 35 minute call.I guess you get what you pay for with ease of setup - I also purchased a pricier epson that was delivered the same day, and that was up and rolling in 10 minutes.Other than that, performance looks good so far - I've had it for a week or so. Once it was connected to the network, it was simple to add to the rest of the computers in the house. $10 off toner if you order through their customer service line, btw.

I had previously purchased several P1102 printers for work and was very pleased with them. When I needed several more the P1102 had been replaced by the P1102w. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out how much easier it was to install than the previous model. When I have to replace my home laser printer this or it's successor will be the one I purchase.

I am a Mac user and to get the printer to work in wifi mode you have to follow the steps Oliver has in his review from December 15, 2010. Luckily, I had gone through the review when I ordered the product so it was not a surprise to me when I couldn't get it to print from my Macbook the first time around. You have to install the printer on the Macbook first using the CD/DVD that came with the printer (while the printer is connected via the usb) and then go through the 13 odd steps that Oliver has listed. The print quality is good and fast, it also has a very small footprint so if your desk is as cluttered as mine you wont mind the printer sitting on it. I have gone through around a 100 pages and have had no issues with paper jams, ink smudging, etc....My previous Samsung Laser was a nightmare, I couldn't get through more 5 pages without a jam (and it was not a paper issue). For lack of documentation (specifically for Mac users) I have taken away a star, if you are a Windows user its 5 stars all the way.BTW, if someone got it to work with the iPad please do post the steps. I am still struggling with that. The iPad doesn't seem to recognize the printer on the wireless network.

Pros:* Small size.* Apparently good quality output.Cons:* Configuration is painful. This is a WiFi-enabled printer that must be installed on a computer via - wait for it - a USB connection. Yes, there is no way to configure or install it wirelessly.* HP documentation suggests that the printer comes with a pre-installed "Embedded Web Server" to provide a configuration interface once it has been configured with a computer. However, the printer that I bought was totally unreachable via HTTP, and in fact didn't even respond to ping.* The printer that I bought loses power at intermittent times. The device spontaneously enters an OFF state - sometimes as little as one minute after being turned on.Bottom line: This is a budget printer that runs like a budget printer... i.e., tons of design flaws. Avoid!

I was thoroughly happy with this printer for six months. Then it stopped working. Too bad I'd already bought a spare cartridge. Attempts to get service via HP were futile. So now I have a very nice nearly new printer that stopped working.

Prints fast, in about 2 seconds!No drama, no waiting 3 minutes for a single printout, no loud chugging sounds, no paper jams, no poor ink, no "empty ink" signals after a few uses, no absurdly expensive ink ( only $16 for hundreds of prints).My friend got one a year ago. They both work beautifully. For simple B & W printing, this is great.

I really love this printer. At less than 100 bucks, I never expected to find such a compact and capable laser jet printer. It was a breeze to set up and It prints incredibly fast! The first page prints almost instantly and each subsequent page spits out as fast as you could ever want. I also love that it has an incredibly small foot print. I bought it for my wife's home office printer and she uses it heavily and is very happy.The one con is that it does heat up very quickly, but this hasn't caused any problems for me-- it cools down pretty quickly after you stop printing.

I have an office at home. But I don't sit in my home office to work. With the laptop and wireless Internet, I can work anywhere in my house: in the kitchen, bedroom, dining table and my couch...... However, when I need to print, I have to go back to my home office and connect my old printer with a 6 feet USB cable. My old printer takes 2-3 minutes to warm up, and my Windows Vista laptop takes 2-3 minutes to reconnect the printer as well. It is very annoying. Now, with the new HP P1102w wireless LaserJet printer, my problem solved. i can print documents anywhere in my home even the printer is in sleep mode (after 5 mins of idle). Quality is as good as any HP LaserJet and it is fast too. It is perfect for any home user.The setup program takes a bit longer than I thought. And you are required to connect P1102w to your computer during the setup. In that case, this printer do come with USB cable (Most other printers, including HP do not come with USB cable). Once the setup is done, it is very easy to use (Set it and forget it!).

I bought this little printer at a special closeout a year ago at my local office supply store. I am using Windows 7 and this gem was very easy to set up and run, We have another bigger HP printer in my office but HP has not developed Windows 7 drives for it and we cannot get it to connect to our wireless network because of some conflict that still has not been diagnosed and fixed even after repeat calls to the manufacturer. Since first setup this little guy is still connected wirelessly and runs reliably day after day, page after page. Simply a good little printer! Replacement toner can be pricey so shop on-line for values, and I wish they could be refilled but other than that I am very satisfied with my little work-horse.

Great little printer. Installation using the USB cord was quick and easy. I was very happy with the print speed and quality. I didn't think it would measure up to my larger laser printer but it absolutely did. I also liked that it shuts off when not in use but only takes seconds to warm back up. It's wireless function works perfectly. Great deal for the price.

This thing is a real piece of junk.If I wanted something that was a pain in the butt to install that would wind up not working anyway, I'd own a Windows PC.The documentation sucks, and the software is even worse.Do not waste your money. Mine is going back to Amazon tomorrow.

This HP printer has been very good so far. I bought it for the small size and quiet operation and it succeeds in both objectives. I have not printed enough to judge the efficiency of the printer cartridge. The one downside is HP's support for Mac OS X. I have been unable to upgrade the firmware using an Apple computer to utilize the Airprint functionality.

So it has all of these options for Windows - it can work as a stand alone wireless printer. But if you have a Mac, the only way to hook this printer up is with a cable - what the good is a wireless printer if you still have to tether it to a computer?????!!?!?!?!

After seeing this printer in use at my veterinarian's office, I asked staff how it held up under their usage. I saw the print output on my cat's vet statements and was pleased.I'm a technophobe and had been using a Canon inkjet for years but was fed up with the cartridge cost and short life. Also, my postal label barcodes were not easy for USPS to scan.This printer hooked up great to my Windows 7 HP laptop with the supplied USB cable. I had no interest in wireless since my laptop is used on a stand as a desktop replacement.Also ordered a full size HP cartridge from Amazon.SuperSaver shipping was both fast and free.Thanks HP and Amazon.

I purchased the P1102w from a local Best Buy store. Installation was a breeze on my Mac (iMac w/Snow Leopard). Prints were fast and very sharp, however every page I printed had creases in them. The creases went from top to bottom of the page, 3/4ths of the way in from the left and from the right. I tried 3 types of paper: 20lb multi-purpose, 20lb copy paper, and 24lb laser paper. Each gave me the same result, although the laser paper was slightly better. The toner wasn't smudged in the creases, just the paper being bent. If I was just running quick casual prints I wouldn't mind, but I can't print resumes or anything professional on this. I did all the normal troubleshooting methods: I checked the paper path for obstructions; removed and reinserted the paper; replaced the paper; ran troubleshooting via software; ran a cleaning page. The last thing I did not do was replace the toner. It didn't feel right for a 12 hour old product. I ended up taking it back for a refund.

Thanks to the other reviews here, i had the heads up on a little work that needed to be done for my iMac to work.I just googled the printer and mac and the first link showed me the same instructions as the other reviewer said.When I say work, i mean an extra 5 - 10 minutes to get through the instructions. All depending how good you are with your Mac.Printer works great out the box. Put the cd into my wife's laptop with windows 7 and worked right away.make sure that after you get the printer an IP address, to goto the management console through the browser and look at the settings. The printer kept turning off after 10 minutes and I had to look in the settings to change it.Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.I had the previous model that did not have wifi built in and i got tired of having to run on my Mac for my wife to print and she prints way more than me from her laptop.I hate hate hate ink jet printers and the $99 price is great for what I need. I still have the old model as a backup and it has been working great for 2 years.Order was easy and smooth.

This is the second one of these printers in our office. This is a real workhorse that just works and works. The wireless function makes it perfect for a home or small office. And it's very fast. We will probably buy a third one soon.

I just bought this printer from Best Buy earlier today. As a result, my review won't be able to touch upon the longevity of the printer.However, I'm writing this review to mention a couple important details.One, it is compatible with Mac OS X. The driver install disk included version 2.0, but I found 3.0 online. I had no problem connecting it to my wireless network (which I have setup with Airport Extreme). If you are having any trouble, go to youtube and search for "mac wireless setup - hp laserjet p1102w" (unfortunately, it doesn't seem that I'm allowed to directly link to it in my review).Two, I initially struggled with manual duplex over the network, until I found a solution on the apple discussion forums. While the solution is easy (namely, lifting and then closing the lid), it is annoying that it doesn't work automatically. I'm not sure if HP ever plans to actually fix this issue, but at least I can now have manual duplex.As a printer, it's relatively inexpensive and works fine. It's not too large which is nice. It does exactly what I need for now, but in a couple years when I can afford it, I'll probably purchase a higher-end printer. As an standard monochrome laser printer, I can't complain. I really wish it had automatic duplex, but I didn't really have many other options at Best Buy (I needed it right away, otherwise I probably would have bought the Brother HL-5340D printer).
