Everything about this paper's qualities was stated beautifully in the review above -- but you can purchase 20 sheets of this paper for $15.99 either online or at places like CompUSA or OfficeMax when it is in stock. Check out Froogle and eBay. Shop around, especially if, like me, you print a lot. This paper is wonderful stuff, and you should definately have it, but not at the price of a second mortgage.

It said my Black ink was out so I replaced it. Now it's clogged. I have to explain this to the office manager now. They're not going to be happy with me that I made them buy new ink and now the printer is broken. Thanks a lot Epson. I am also never going to buy another Epson after this episode. Zero stars!

I had originally bought this printer to replace a defective HP, thinking that the photo quality would be better. I was wrong. The problems began on day one. Being a photo idiot, I usually simply print from the internal windows picture viewer. With this printer, that colors were all over the map. I now have to go through Photoshop to print out anything with colors, brightness and contrast even remotely resembling the original. Utterly infuriating.Even more infuriating is finding out that the ink is costing me an arm and a leg. The ink runs out at an incredibly fast rate, and when one goes dry, YOU CAN'T PRINT ANYTHING! Argh! Almost ninety bucks to refill the darned thing. At a local (major) electronics shop, they were selling refurb units of this printer for less than the price of the ink. Since I had to buy new ink anyways, I bought the unit, used the factory new ink cartridges for mine, and had the pleasure of beating the crap out of the refurb unit with a sledgehammer. Saved a couple of bucks in the deal and vented my frustration at Epson at the same time.No more refills. Next time it runs out, this unit goes in the trash and the ninety bucks can go a long way towards buying me a new HP printer.

First, I had Stylus C82 and it got clogged within 6 moths of purchase. Epson replaced it with new C84 ( 1 year warranty) and it worked pretty well for about a little over a year. Got clogged again and it is out of warranty so I'm out of luck.

This printer came free with my PowerBook, so even if I got a penny worth of value out of it, I got more than I paid for. Indeed I did. This is a good little printer.Having owned products from HP and Canon, I've always been curious about Epson. My preconception about HP printers has come to be that they are reliable and fast, but don't print the most brilliant images unless you pay quite a bit. My preconception about Canon printers has come to be that while they print beautiful images, they are slow and not the most reliable. Surely things have changed since purchasing my HP and Cannon printers, but this Epson seems to split the difference. So far, it has been as reliable as any HP I've owned, though not as fast. It has proven more reliable and faster than my Canon while printing images that seem to be just as good. As an aside, I get better photo printing results using HammerMill Jet PrintPhoto than with Epson's own expensive DURABrite photo paper. Unlike either the Canon or any of my HPs, the C84 will also print borderless photos in 8x10 and 4x6 sizes - a pus.In terms of ink usage, it seems to be right on par with any of my HPs. The Canon seemed to burn through ink like crazy when it wasn't allowing it to leak out all over my desk. I do like that it has independent color cartridges as I always hate replacing the relatively expensive HP color cartridges knowing that, more often than not, all of the colors haven't been exhausted. For me, individual color ink cartridges were one of the selling points of the Canon. Unlike the Canon, the Epson seems to be retaining the ink in its cartridges instead of dumping it onto my desk. I found that I can buy a multi-pack of all four ink cartridges for about the price of just one black ink cartridge for my HPs. Just replace each individual cartridge as required - no waste. For something that I got without having to go through the trouble deciding to spend my money on it (researching competing models), this printer has impressed me as being a reasonable deal.

The C86 appears to have the same problems as many other Epson printers, including the clogged print head, and losing a color after installing a replacement cartridge. Worked great....for a while.I finally threw mine in the trash can. Very disappointing, especially since I had new ink in the printer. My Canon from 1994 is still going strong, and my Canon ip3000 is a workhorse, never fails me. Buy a Canon!

I am extremely frustrated with Epson. Their printers stink. At least the Stylus Photo R300. Epson doesn't tell it's customers that the printer uses ink constantly. I mean constantly. I have printed the equivalent of four 8 x 11 sheets of photos in the year I have had the printer. In that time, the printer has used three sets of ink cartridges. At $15 X 6 cartridges = $90 to replace all the cartridges. Epson was nice enough to send me complementary cartridges while we were troubleshooting the problem, but I can't see keeping a printer around that uses up $180 a year if you print or not. Epson replaced the printer, but the replacement did the same thing. This is what Epson printers do. They have a reservoir that constantly needs to be filled. Whether the printer is left on or turned off at night, it constantly has to keep the reservoir filled. It's not sealed so the ink is always drying. Therefore the printer is constantly using ink. Case in point: during troubleshooting, I placed brand new cartridges in the printer and kept the printer on for a month. Even though I had not printed a single color photo or graphic in the month, one quarter of the color ink was gone. Now, one might think that they could just store the color cartridges and pull them out when needed. Not true. Their engineers are smart. The printer requires a cartridge in every slot. It can't be empty either. That way the printers are always using ink. It's great for their bottom line, but bad for the consumer.I'm throwing my $300 Epson away. It's a real shame for the prints are great, but I can't see paying $20 for a 4 X 6 print. I'm going back to my $35 Lexmark.

I have owned 3 Epson C86 printers. They worked great for about a month and did produce outstanding color results. The problem is that the print heads get clogged very easily. The heads are incredibly small in order to spray very fine droplets of pigment, but when those same tiny heads get clogged, you get ugly lines through your masterpiece. Epson's cure: run a head cleaning ritual where you waste large amounts of ink, as the process (usually in vain) attempts to clean the heads. After returning the printer for lousy performance, I bought the Canon Pixma 4200 and have had no problems. The Canon has never been plagued with clogged print heads, and it produces superb color printouts.Don't waste your money on the Epson printer. It will drive you nuts!

I bought this printer primarily for two reasons: Its CD/DVD printing capabilities and the fact that it uses six separate ink cartridges. I was replacing a Lexmark Z51, and talk about expensive ink costs! I was pretty adamant that I would not even look at a printer if it did not use separate cartridges for each of its colors.I've been using the Epson for a few weeks now, and I've been very pleased. The photo results, particular using the Epson paper, have been excellent. Many reviews mention poor text quality but I haven't found it to be bad even with plain paper; it's been at least as good or better than my Lexmark. I do have realistic expectations, though; I don't expect laser quality text from an ink jet printer, particularly one that costs only $100.I've printed several CDs using the included PrintCD software and I've been delighted. I was able to import a photo from my hard drive and the results have been very good. I've gotten compliments on how good my CDs look. It was also very easy; just be sure to follow the steps in the manual. The alignment and color density (both adjustable) were correct the first time, so I haven't had to adjust them. I haven't even used the highest photo setting for CD printing--the text and graphics setting has worked very well.I can't determine the printer's rate of ink consumption now, but I've printed several CDs with a full photo on the cover, several text pages and a number of photos on the "High" setting, and it appears I am still at about the halfway mark on ink. The only real con I've found is that the On/Off button seemed a little sticky; I had to press it more than once to turn it on.Overall, I think this is a good value printer for the price particularly if you are interested in printing photos and/or CDs.

This is the second one of Epson's printers that I have had in less than two years. They will work fine and print very well for some period of time, but then, unexpectedly will stop printing in some or all of the colors. I had a C82 and then I bought this printer to replace that one that stopped working one week after the warranty was up. This one stopped working after 7 months. If it had been the one printer "breaking" I would have just thought it was a bad example, but two in a short period of time leads me to believe that there is a faulty design in their printheads that allows the ink to dry up in the printhead stopping the printer from printing. I have called every number at Epson trying to get them to just give me my money back and letting them know how bad their products are, but all I can get them to do is send me a new printer. I made sure and let them know that I thought that the new one that they send me is going to be faulty as well. And the warranty on that one will only be from the original purchase date of the broken one...what a terrible deal. Now I am stuck with a printer that I know is going to stop working again within some period of time probably after the warranty is expired. The tech support guy also had me run enough cleaning cycles on the printer to run down all of my ink tanks...so now I will have to buy four ink tanks as well.BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT BUY AN EPSON PRINTER

This was an excellent printer, until I had to change all four cartridges at once for the second time. After I changed them, NOTHING would print. Not even when I ran several head cleanings! Every page was blank. The system told me that I was almost out ink. Well, HOW COULD I BE ALMOST OUT OF INK WHEN NOTHING PRINTED?!?!? Even uninstalling and reinstalling software didn't help. I didn't even see any leaks! For the price of those cartridges, I could have gotten a new printer. From this day forward, I will avoid buying another Epson printer.

I have my own videography business and I bought this printer primarily to make custom printed DVDs, however I now use it instead of my lexmark to print out all my digital photos. the image reproduction is perfect and the printer only cost me $90.The only drawback is that this printer sucks ink down fast! So, be prepared to stock up on some ink cartridges if you buy this printer.

I have had this printer for about 6 months now, and overall, I am very happy with it.For me, the Epson R200 has 3 great things going for it.1- Most importantly, it prints great photos. With its 6 inks, the quality is pretty much indistinguishable from a photo lab. I briefly had a Canon printer, but skin tones came out all pink. I have not had this problem with the Epson.2- the price is right. This printer is much cheaper than any other 6-ink printer that I have seen. (In fact, I bought the printer, with a full set of ink, for less than the replacement cost of the inks.) Furthermore, because with Epson each ink is replaced seperately, and because a printer utility software let's you run each ink cartridge fully down to zero, there is no wastage of ink.3- the ability to print on CDs/DVDs is great. We create DVDs out of home movies, and they look so much better with a printed finish than with text scrawled on in marker. This feature certainly wins over the masses.I have 2 issues with the printer.1- it doesn't print great text. When printing text, you will definitely notice a difference between this printer and a laser. If the printer is for home use, then this should not really be a big deal.2- the printer has trouble handing non-standard paper sizes -- although this might be an OS issue, or it might be a user-issue. I print a lot of invitations and cards on 1/2 or 1/4 size letter paper. For the life of me, I cannot get the printer to correctly print to these sizes. As a result, I end up printing on full letter size and cutting. A pain, but not a show-stopper.Overall, if you are looking for a great photo printer (and if you are printing from your computer rather than directly from the camera), this one is a great choice!

I have a Epson Stylus C86 that I have not printed much with for several months. Initially it worked fine.I did the nozzle check recently, it barely printed a trace. After installing all new cartridges (Epson and expensive) and at least 10, maybe 15 cleanings, it just prints a trace of cyan and a trace of magenta, no black and no yellow. I have only ever used Epson cartridges in this printer.I have had many Epsons over the years, it looks like this is my last. Forums have told me that Epson isn't interested in fixing the problem.

We had 5 of these printers and 20 of it's predecessor the C82. Every single one has had the same problem. Eventually it stops printing certain colors. Head cleaning, new cartridges, and manually trying to clean the inside has left us with nothing but piles of junk that we now have to pay to have removed. WASTE OF MONEY! Stay away from the Stylus C series completely. Tech support no help. Everything surprising just off of warranty. Who would have thought...

This printer is the biggest waste of money. This machine not only has spotty performance, it runs through ink like an SUV runs through gas. Think it costs a lot to fill your tank? Try this printer. Even if you DON'T use your printer, it will need new cartridges every 3-4 months because, according to the technician, they dry out. I know, because it ended up costing me 3 color cartridges and a black cartridge even though I only printed 2 pages in 3 months on new cartridges. At $13 each color and $24 for black, that's $60 every 3 months. Print frequently, and those little cartridges won't last a month. It also won't print if any of the cartridges are out, meaning that if you just want to print black and white text, it won't.Bottom line: don't waste your money.

I thought the R300 was an answer to print photos and DVDs.However I found that:1.) You will go broke purchasing print cartridges. They do not last! Should one color go dry you have to replace it, even if you are only printing black labels on a dvd.2.) Poor engineering made the dvd printing tray hang up. I was able to print about 30 dvds before this broke. The printer is in the trash barrel now. Stay away from cheap Epson printers!

This printer is VERY impressive right out of the gate. You will be hard pressed to find a printer (especially at this price point) that will do a better job with photo printing.Other reviews in this forum seem to fall at opposite ends of the spectrum, and that does not surprise me. I have previously owned Stylus C80 that I loved for a while, until the print heads began clogging. I was able to clean them out with a special solvent kit, but after that only repeated head cleaning cycles would keep it working. It finally puked out completely when the paper feed mechanism would no longer feed the paper properly. This after 2 1/2 years of moderate use.I took the plunge AGAIN and bought the R200, thinking that maybe improvements had been made with the reliability. Guess what...same story, as this one is now starting down the same road as my old C80. I WISH the Epsons I have had did not have these problems, but the harsh reality is that there are problems out there folks. You will not notice it immediately, but if my experience is typical, this stuff creeps up on you. I really doubt that Epson is trying to "rip you off", and I do not see them as a company that operates that way. Heck, they consistently rank very high in the "out of the box" reviews of some very esteemed publications. Just be aware that there is a little truth in some of the poorest reviews in this forum, and a lot of truth to the rave reviews about photo print quality, until...If you are going to lay down your cash, I will say this. If you are going to be a HEAVY user of this printer, you will be better off. Just keep EVERYTHING squeaky clean as it tends to give off a pretty good "spray" that tends to coat internal parts (nore so than other printers I have used). You will end up having more trouble if you use it moderately to infrequently, and do not maintain it as stuff dries out.GOOD LUCK

This printer is designed to sell ink--it isn't good for much else. The nozzles plug frequently. It usually takes at least three cleaning cycles to unclug--which uses about 1/4 of the print cartridge ink. Ink cartridges are at least 1/2 full when the printer says they are empty and forces you to change them. My printer is now permanently plugged. The solution according to the Epson tech is to send it in to them for repair. I wouldn't waste my money to repair this piece of junk. AVOID EPSON!!!
