Two things, colors are a bit washed out on cloudy days and low light. The pop up flash is poorly located so it pops up right under your finger without warning, this happened so often that it made using the camera annoying. The zoom is the very best feature of this camera. The size and weight is just right.

The camera is pretty good and out images are way nicer since we buy it. The only thing that is driving me crazy is how often I need to charge the battery.

Firmware updated to PSSX280HS.FI2 (1.0.2.0)After a few minutes of operation in video mode the camera shows battery is running out. Camera is turned off and on and as soon a I start taking a video the low battery shows again. I have purchased (2) of these cameras and I am frustrated with this issue. My understanding was that the firmware update would take care of this issue. Problem still exists after firmware update. Canon has been contated and I am waiting for a repsonse.

The only thing I have found so far that makes not be be able to "love" this .. the flash pops up on the top corner of the camera. Which sounds fine.. until you ask someone to take a photo for you and they are holding there finger right there. Otherwise this camera is really awesome. its small, easily portable, holds a charge amazingly and takes great pics.

..We all know this. Anybody purchase a 280 with a 3 in the 6th position of the serial number? If so, does it still have the low battery indicator problem when taking videos? I.e.: Has Canon really solved the problem in the newly manufactured units, or did they just incorporate the same faulty firmware update?****UPDATE****>> Canon Tech support says the "3 in the 6th position" cameras have been fixed completely. I sure hope so! They also may be getting out an advisory for how to handle cameras with "0,1,2" in the 6 position, such as send them to Canon for fixing.

Great small pocket camera. Does all that I wanted. This is the second one I bought, one for my wife and now I have one. Don't have to borrow hers. Only inconvience is the location of the flash. Need to learn how to hold it so I do not interrupt the action of the pop up flash. I researched Nikon, Sony Fugi and Panasonic. This one came out on top for price and quality.Bill

Quick delivery and exactly what I wanted. Vendor tops and kept me in the loop. Used in Rome and Termiloi Italy. What a great camera. 99% of my shots were great and the ones I thought would be bad, came out great. Great for outdoor and indoor shooting. When they say automatic, they mean it. You can shoot super fast and I have a couple shots that birds were caught in flight in shots I didn't even know about till I viewed on my computer. OMG.

The camera AMAZON sold me had faulty low battery light issues. When I researched it, it appears that this has been an issue with SX280 model for months. Contacted Canon and they said that SOME retailers chose not to return the cameras for a software update I guess AMAZON was one. Canon advised me that the update is relatively simple through their web site. After I made an attempt to update I got stuck after the 4th or fifth step and had to call Canon for assistance. Canon walked me thru the update, but it was anything but simple.So far I had not used the camera that much, but when I did I liked the results.

This is my third canon camera. After reading a lot of reviews I seem to go for Canon's for their picture quality and price point. This is an excellent camera, with quick focusing and quick photo taking. It has the latest (as of Aug 2013) DIGIC 6 processor and good at low light conditions.CONS: Need to carry a secondary battery, as the taking video drains the battery fast!Overall, excellent camera!

This camera has a great zoom lens and features that put it in a class that is better than a point and shoot and but maybe not as good as an SLR. Great camera for when you don't want to carry around a big SLR.

I got this camera as a gift and love it. If you are looking for a good point and shoot camera with lots of options, this is the one for you. Although the manufacturer has eliminated the stich option, it has given you the "continuous" photo option which makes it easy to stich pictures. It also comes with it's own stich program on a CD that you can install. Over all it's a very good camera.

bought this to replace older canon dig 10x zoom,excellent photo quality great zoom, slips easily in pocket,using now on vacation shooting 250-300 pics per day.when shooting shots using zoom at long range use sport mode seem to get sharper image.i"m glad i bought extra batteries.

I love Canon cameras. I upgraded from another canon point and shoot to this one and I'm very happy I did. I wanted a P&S with higher megapixels and HD video and wireless capability and higher zoom, and this camera meets all those points. I LOVE the 20x zoom! It works awesome. The picture quality is wonderful. The wireless is a bit time consuming but once I got it all figured out I was able to transfer photos to my iphone and I love that quality.I have yet to test the video.I even got some shots of the moon with this camera! Zoomed in 20x and then enlarged the photo to see craters on the moon! For a point and shoot I was super impressed with that!Get and try it I dont think you'll be disappointed! Now I want to upgrade my Canon DSLR :)

Maybe it is because the last camera I owned was 6 years old, this one feels extremely easy to use and the 20X zoom is just awesome. I downloaded the new firmware and fixed the battery error within 5 minutes

Canon has a winner with the SX280! This camera takes amazing photos, even on full auto! The 20x zoom is one of the reasons I bought this camera. I have absolutely no regrets. Worth every penny I paid for it! I haven't shot many videos yet, but so far I haven't experienced any of the "low battery warning" issues that others have reported. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who wants a quality point & shoot that takes superb photos and videos!

Be skeptical about any review that doesn't mention the terrible battery life. Take a few photos and press the video button and you're done for the day unless you have a couple of spare batteries. It's just not acceptable. Buyer beware. You can do better.UPDATE: This evening (May 16) Canon confirmed the battery problem in a customer forum that had numerous customer complaints identical to mine: "We've confirmed premature display of low battery level while shooting in movie mode with the PowerShot SX280 HS. We are currently working towards a resolution and will provide an update shortly."UPDATE 6/6: Canon just released new firmware, but users are reporting that it did NOT fix the problem.http://forums.usa.canon.com/t5/PowerShot/SX280-battery-life-shooting-video/m-p/27127#M1435

Not as small as the elf line camera that I previously owned but small enough to carry along anywhere. Takes great pictures and is a big step up from my last camera. New software is impressive.

I used this Camera in Alaska and it was great. It takes really good far away pictures. Quality resolution is very good. Only negative is that the battery only lasts about a day's worth of picture taking. My solution was to buy two batteries. One is always in my pocket so I don't run out during an exciting photo opportunity. It's a great size to fit in my pocket.

The camara is really up to the expectations if you used to have one of these. I used to own the SX230, and upgraded to this one and I can say that I have no complain thanks god.I really like Canon compact cameras, and the versatility that the optic zoom that I get for this price great.
