When my Canon SX210 died due to shutter error, I investigated the upgrades to lessen the learning curve and found the SX280 HS to be a good choice. Better photos, faster speeds and familiarity of functions have made this choice a winner. I haven't used the wifi or the gps yet and may not need them so at this point they are unusuable perks.

Seems to run through battery charge very quickly. It's a good thing I brought three batteries with my on my trip.

Big improvement over my last camera, has a nice wide field of vision and good zoom, starts up quickly, and is easy to use

Great camera. Hit some really good night s***s without flash and without tripod. Only negative us that you have to make sure your finger doesn't prevent the flash from popping up.

This is a camera that takes great pictures, indoors and outdoors. The zoom is great. The WiFi implementation is usable with the Canon app for smartphone. The camera takes great looking video, but herein lies the problem. There is a flaw in which shooting video results in a premature shutdown of the camera preceeded by a low battery warning after 10-15 minutes of shooting. Using the zoom intensifies this issue. The recent firmware "fix" is not a fix, but a very very minor improvement. The problem persists.This camera comes nowhere close to the median or acceptable standard for battery life, in particular concerning video shooting.

I bought this camera because trusting Canon to be a great brand. My last canon camera lasted 6 year without a single problem. Unfortunately this one DID NOT last 2 months. First the flash got stock and then the lens started to display error messages.We spend a lot of time outdoors and I noticed that sand and hay were getting in the cracks. Maybe because I put it on the ground a few times to help my 3 year old.It might be a good camera for museums and city only but definitely not for outdoors.I am looking now where to return it.

I was on the market for a daily carry around camera. I considered many, having owned Canon before I trust the product.I like this little camera, it takes good clear photos and zooms out to get close ups.

Overall Canon PowerShot SX280 HS is the good camera for amateurs that makes crisp, vivid pictures thanks to extremely intelligent new Digic VI image processor. Excellent zoom is another buying point.Downsides are a lack of features like: built-in HDR, panorama mode and bracketing.

Per the tech reviews this is a Great little camera. It's easy to operate, has a ton of storage for pictures and HDTV video's. I couldn't be happier

This little camera has performed more things that my EOS Rebel camera can't even dream of doing. I am very happy with the picture quality and it fits comfortably in any of my pockets. So it's always available to capture the moment.

The camera itself works very well - very fast start-up, image quality is good and optical zoom is very good. The two biggest issues:- it's rather big/bulky for a compact point and shoot (the price you have to pay for excellent optical zoom)- I wish it had a panorama setting like my iPhoneUnless you really need the zoom, go with an elph or a smaller point and shoot camera that you're more likely to carry around w/o hassle.

I have owned a number of Canon digicams and have come to truly appreciate their consistent quality and dependability. I like everything about this camera - size, performance, quality, & feature set. The two key features that sold me were the speed and the added wireless connectivity. With the improved speed, you never get the impression this camera is lagging about doing anything, The wireless makes is super easy to transfer pictures to my smartphone. So, I get the quality, mega zoom, and feature set of a great point and shoot camera and the easy sharing capabiities with my phone.

Canon has found a great combination of quality optical components with smart software that in combination make the best out of your photo opportunities. Only noticeable downside is that the battery charge indicator can still be erratic and shut the camera down, especially after video usage, despite firmware upgrade. Definitely recommend the camera though to those who want to combine great picture quality with the compactness of a point and shoot.

The camera, as far as I am concerned, takes excellent photos in all ranges, including macro. However, when the camera arrived it sometimes would not power on immediately after turning it off. The problem worsened over a few days. Finally I needed to press the power-on button 5 or 10 or 15 times before it would work. Conversely, power off always worked without a problem.

I bought this to take trekking in some pretty remote places this year. I needed something high quality and versatile but also compact, and so far in smaller trial run backpacking trips, this camera is fitting that bill. Depending on your settings (GPS, which was really important to have, for me) the battery life can just be gone, so you have to have back-up batteries, and be careful how you have it set up, for what and when, and for how long, etc. Those tips and best practices are pretty well documented in their accompanying lit, if you bother to do your homework. But other then that, so far, so good!

Exactly what I was looking for. A compact camera with a better lens, and I found it with this Canon Power Shot. I have another Canon camera, and find them reliable. This one really fulfilled my need. What would of been helpful, to have included a scan disk.

I bought this camera because my son has the same one and he recommended it to me as easy to use. I have not taken photos for quite some time and wanted something I could ease into. I do like this camera and have no issues with it so far. It takes really good photos, is easy to use and honestly, I'm still learning. I can recommend it for anyone who wants a small and convenient camera to take good photos the easy way.

The zoom sold me but I also loved using the multiple shot (sport) feature to catch fast moving scenes. This is the first time every that I've actually captures whales on film vs just the bubbles in their wake! My only regret is that it doesn't have a view-finder thus it was sometimes hard to frame the shot in bright sun, or to quickly find the subject of the picture without backing off the zoom.

Love the look of this camera and the size of the rear screen. I also enjoy being able to put strap over wrist. Haven't had the camera for long and I'm far from an experienced photographer but the technical support at Canon is great. Used the camera at my grandson's superstars lacrosse tournament on the sport mode and got great pics. This camera probably has more features than I need but the price was right!

The firmware upgrade addresses 99% of the negative reviews here. The rest are just the silly complaints of Amazon's perennial malcontents who like to find fault with everything. The combination of GPS and WiFi make this camera a knockout in its class. And the ONE thing I care the most about, image quality, puts this PowerShot camera in a class all its own. Buy it and explore its many wonderful features. You won't be disappointed. And BTW, I DON"T work for Canon.

Without covering ground other's have covered:1) The panorama stitch assist is GONE!? This is backwards. What is Canon thinking? They are supposed to be the LEADER on this and yet they are the ONLY manufacturer out there without this feature? Then they take away the awkward 36-step stitch assist feature? Way to watch the market, Canon.2) You KNOW it's a huge issue with the SX260, so why include the SAME STUPID FLASH system that locks the camera up if you accidentally put your fingers where EVERYBODY puts their fingers from the left hand?It's going back. Goodbye Canon SX280. I'll keep the SX260... flawed though it is.

Camera is great, easy to use. My pictures in Alaska came out great. The telephoto was just enough. This camera is perfect if you want a point and shoot, and easy to carry around not too big.
