This Camera has a lot more features than my previous Powershot. The main reason I gave this camera a 3 star rating is because of the location of the flash. Despite Canon putting it there for seemingly better picture results; you have to have a really firm grip on the camera with both hands to turn the dial which requires some strength to turn to switch your shooting mode. However when you change the mode sometimes the flash automatically pops up and at that time your finger is right on top of the the flash which may cause a malfunction! Then you have to shut the camera down and power it back up to continue. This is annoying! So the design I have to give Canon an F in this respect. The 20X zoom is excellent and the shooting modes are great. Hope this helps!

I got this for my mom for Christmas because it has a nice big screen for her. She loved it and it takes the most beautiful photos.

Location of the popup flash ruins this camera, on the front left side, *exactly* where your place your left hand fingers while using the camera. You'll inadvertently block the flash from popping up.Loved the IQ of the photos from this camera.It's just too bad about the unfortunate location of the popup flash.

Completely uselss camera. Shuts off after 1 min with low battery warning while shooting movies though the battery is full.

I really liked the zoom feature, although difficult to hold steady at 20x. I pride myself on having steady hands. I felt that the controls were small but manageable and similar to my previous camera, also a canon. Resolution of photos seemed to be excellent, the hd movies were jumpy but perhaps that was my error. I like to use Picasa and I couldn't get Picasa to play the videos. I had no problems with Picasa and videos on my older canon A710. The deal breaker for me and the reason why I returned the camera was the flash location. When I grab the camera to take a quick shot, my left index finger instinctively goes over the point where the flash pops up, the top left side of the camera. For the length of time I intend to own my next camera, I am not going to continually do battle with the pop up flash. I tried holding the camera as per the instructions and it seemed really awkward and unnatural. I hated to send this camera back but the flash did me in.

Probably one of the nicest little point and shoot cameras out there. I bought an earlier model 2 years ago and loved it. This year I needed two for my yearbook staff at the school where I teach and I didn't hesitate but went straight for the Canon Sx series cameras. They give all sorts of special features in a camera with a very gentle learning curve in terms of usage! They are also quite durable and are easy to take anywhere you go in a pocket or a purse.

I brought the camera 4 days and recorded a video for 12 min the camera got hot and the battery got discharged.I Thought that the item that was sent to me may be defective hence I asked amazon to replace it.They did the replacement very quickly.After receiving the replaced product I recorded a video for 12 min it heated up again.Due the heating issue I have to return both of camera to amazon.Now I am planing to buy a sony camera with the same configuration.

The camera itself is wonderful. But it consumes batteries in such a ridiculous way. I even bought a replacement battery, but is not enough.

I bought this camera after returning the Canon SX50 for being too big. This camera is nice and compact and fits in my purse, so I'll bring it everywhere. The 20x zoom (digital up to 60x plus) is great. The image quality is really nice and there are a lot of ways to use this camera manually, scene choices, wifi, etc. So many fun options. I'll never get to use them all.I bought a backup battery after reading the reviews. I haven't upgraded my firmware, but with the backup, I haven't had an issue, I don't shoot much video anyway. I also had an issue with the software. It doesn't work on my XP 64bit computer, but luckily I have another computer that runs Windows 7 and I've used the software there.Overall a really fun camera!

Camera was defective. Canon declared it damaged, which I guess it was, but it was defective and the damage arose in frustration with the defect. Canon refused to do the right thing. Rudely.

This camera is okay, but does not live up to its reviews of being a really good point and shoot camera. I bought this camera based on the review online, but after using this camera I am not impressed and am looking for another camera.

Don't buy this camera!!! The camera "Charge Battery" indicator will come on even when a fully charged battery is placed into the camera. I am lucky if I can take one picture. This camera is completely useless.

The camera is amazing! However whenever I turn on the video mode the battery light flashes and the camera eventually shuts down. When I turn it back on again in photo mode there is plenty of battery life left. I had read this was a problem with this camera, and I assumed it was a software bug, my camera was updated and I still have the problem. I will most likely return the item, if the problem persists.It's such a shame because I used this camera for a few days, and consider it the best point and shoot camera I have every owned. If they can fix the cinema mode bug, I would give this camera 5 stars. I give it 3.5 because of the issue. you also have to have 3 or 4 extra batteries if you intend on shooting photos and videos all day.

Enjoyable to use. Pictures come out great. But like most everyone else , watch your finger does not sit on top of the pop up flash.

Hi,Bad review for Canon SX280.I am a Canon point and shoot camera lover but sorry to give a very bad feedback for this camera. Canon SX280! I really do not know how people are giving good feedback for this camera. Pictures are not at all Canon standard. Not sharp, colours are not bright. I mean did not like it at all. I still possess a Canon Powershot SD1200 IS. The picture quality of SX280 is nowhere in comparison with SD1200. Even SX280 design is also bad. The flash is present in a location where most of the people hold the camera and land up blocking the flash from opening resulting in restart of the camera. I returned it immediately.Guys who are really looking for good camera with sharp, crisp, good, quality photo, just not think of buying this camera.-- DB

I like the size of this camera and the zoom lens. It is easy to stick in your pocket and go. There are many features on this camera that I have not mastered as yet. I will be going on vacation soon and can't wait to see what it can do with portraits and scenic views.

Only had camera couple of weeks....- pictures taken are very sharp- 20x zoom is good- like the small size of the camera- no negatives at this point, battery life is ok....no issues when taking movie yet ( battery )- forgot....the pop-up flash location is a pain, but soon get use to it.

I've owned about 6 Powershots. This one was out of focus for about half the photos and videos from day one. I pre-ordered it because I wanted to have it for my vacation in Cancun. But I had to throw away about halve the photos and videos because they were too blurry.I sent the camera in and they just sent me an E-mail that they were going to exchange my "new" hardly used camera with a used one. I called them to complain, but they told me that that's they way they do things. Also, the used camera has the same serial number sequence that has problems. But I'm not supposed to worry because this camera has will have a 3 month warranty.
