I can't leave a very long review, because the item I received (while cosmetically perfect and new in the box) was defective. It had an electrical fault, which meant that it churned through my first and second sets of new alkaline AA batteries in about fifteen minutes (and ten photos) each - and the third set registered empty the moment I put them in.Be mindful as you read this, that I'm loyal to the Canon brand, and am comparing this machine to what I've used of their cameras in past years. If you're a convert from a brand like Panasonic, you might be rightfully wowed by what Canon delivers in the SX150IS. However, personally, I'm disappointed.Canon has excellent photo quality, and this camera appears to be no exception to that rule. Certainly, this model has more resolution, and therefore less dreaminess in the color quality than my 6 megapixel S3IS model I was so fond of and which was stolen from me last spring in Hawaii. The SX150IS case visually looks very nice: it's matte, rather than glossy - which means that the suave look will last longer. Sadly, however, the camera somehow isn't made in a way that molds to your hand, unlike the S3 series. The SX150 does have a nice weight to it, though - and thus feels very professional (and this probably helps to stabilize panning while taking films).I'm kind of disappointed that camera technology hasn't iterated as quickly in five years as you would expect from computer desktop technology or cell phone tech. Certainly, there are some important improvements to button layout, including dedicated picture review button, and on/off button, and a little bit easier layout of the functions around the wheel. That will no doubt make a huge difference for good in a person's day-to-day use of the camera.Even using a tripod, the quality of the photos at the full extent of the optical zoom is really tawdry; it's almost as if you passed the photo through an "oil-paint" photoshop filter. There's a reason why people want an optical zoom rather than a digital zoom, and there doesn't seem to be much improvement with this camera.The one really thoughtful bit of engineering that I immediately was impressed with, is that the screen is actually set back half a centimeter - behind a piece of plexiglass which is, itself, flush with the housing. This means that while the plastic (why don't manufacturers ever want to use glass?!) might get scratched up from keys in the pocket, it is protected from any more serious damage.

I bought the camera and after 4 months the approach is failing. The picture is not clear and resolution is poor. I dont know what happen..so what will you do about it..?? I love the size of the screen, as it is very big and is very clear. The size is a big bigger than my old camera holder, so I am going to have to make a new one. Haven't taken too many photos on it, but am excited to see what comes of it. I think it offers a lot of control of the photo taker to make the photo how they want. There is a lot to choose from and provides all sorts of creative touches. I don't like how picky it seems to be with batteries. You can't use dollar store brand, thats for sure. And I feel like I am going to have to keep a huge stock on hand, or take trips to the store often to replace them if I don't take them out in between shoots. Other than that, I like it very much.

Needed a camera in a hurry and bought mine on the road in Best Buy today. Paid a bit more than this (what ever the current price shown is), but walked out of the store with it. Used it minutes later.My verified purchaser copy of this review is at the Canon SX130. Liked the 150 so well that I ordered the slightly less featured 130 a couple of days after buying the 150.Controls are "intuitive" if you have had a few digital cameras. Pics look great for the documentation and illustration that I do. All the features and gee-wiz may be fantastic for all I know. Do you need a self-timer that starts when you enter the picture and blink your eyes? I don't think I do, but you might.Easy access to manual control is great when images must match in exposure for after-the-fact editing. No raw output tho. Turn off the image review or you spend your time waiting in between pics.Larger size and greater weight make it easier to hand hold especially in lower light. And image stabilization really works well. This camera could better use strap lugs, rings, and a shoulder strap instead of a wrist strap. Ring type selector around the function set button beats hell out of a slew of tiny buttons and lots of tabbed sub menus. - A little too easy to bump things tho while intending to change one setting and accidentally changing another.Experiments moving from sensitivity of 80 or 100 have been mixed. I'm not impressed. With most digitals and oh so long ago with film I have found that higher sensitivity is a trade-off with noise.This camera uses batteries. Take a bunch of the highest capacity NiMH AA that you can get your hands on. Make sure they are in good shape and fully charged! I'm getting 100 to 150 shots out of each pair of new 2300s before getting a low battery warning. Or about two thirds the number of shots from what I got out of my previous camera. - Have to figure that features like image stabilization are not a loss-free operation.A Targus TGC SC610 Case will hold this camera and four more AA batteries easily. Belt loop looks a little iffy, but a carabiner as a back-up gives me peace of mind.I think this camera will work out fine for what I need: clear shots with good detail.

Camera is very easy to use. Pictures are great Condensed information on the operating of the camera is very good. I use it mostly to take pictures of family activities and all who see it are well pleased as I pass along copies of the picture. Great buy for the price.

Camera worked great. At 14 months, it locked up -- froze in the middle of a Hawaiian vacation. I looked into getting it fixed, which was too pricey to be worthwhile. My last digital Canon also locked up at the 24-month mark, meaning I will never buy a Canon again.

So far I find that the speaker on top were you would put your finger should not be there . I have yet to really use it , I bought it because of the size so I could carry it around . I guess we shall see .

I bought this camera despite the reviews saying it eats a lot of batteries. They were understated! My wife likes it or I probably would have returned it. It will only get about 20 shots out of alkaline batteries! It does a lot better on the expensive lithium batteries but is still costly to operate if you are used to taking a lot of photos and deleting them later. From what I have read the rechargeable type will not last through very many images either before you must recharge or replace. It's because this camera reads a partially discharged battery as dead and stops operating when in reality the battery still has lots of life left in it which is the way alkalines are meant to work. It does take good photos though and is very light weight.

Did a lot of reading before buying this model. After about 1000 photos, I'm still trying to wring this thing out. Takes reasonably good quality photos. However, side by side, I still like the clarity of the photos from my Fujis better. I prefer to use the Auto mode on my cameras since most do a very good job (kudos to all of the manufacturers). However, I've noticed that on this Canon, the auto focus frame tends to go find and focus on objects other than those that I'm shooting. As an example, I was in the hummingbird house at the local zoo. The camera continually focused on the lightest item in the frame rather than the item in the center. I found that moving the settings to "Foliage" allowed a little better control of the auto focus. In some modes (auto is one), the user is not able to force or stop the flash at will. Found this to be an issue when I saw drastic light changes in areas that shifted from shade to bright light. If I needed to change the flash setting in Auto mode, I would have to either raise or lower the flash and wait for the flash to charge. On the Fujis, this can be accomplished by the press of a button. All in all, a nice camera, but less than I was expecting from Canon.

This is the second one I have bought. Bought one as a gift for my brother. The only complaint I have is that the batteries could last longer. Have to keep a couple of spares. with me at all times.

The built is strong and look and feel like a high quality. Not bad for point and shoot camera. My wife love this camera, she takes it every where she goes. The pictures that came out look nice, clear and shaft. The only bad thing about this camera is batteries drain out so quick. It's used 2AA. I took less than 50 pictures and I had to replaced new batteries. Most of my previous point and shoot camera had 4AA or 3.5v rechargeable battery. I took this camera to a foreign country and really hate to find a store to get battery, it really inconvenience. For the price, it is a great value $$$. Small and compact easy to put in a pocket or purse.

This is a "point and shoot" that may be operated in a fully manual mode. The point and shoot performance is great, but this camera does much more for people that want to fully control a camera. Manual focus, aperture, and shutter may be controlled using a fully manual mode or a number of programmed settings. Image quality is top flight due to a nice detector and a fine lens. The 12x zoom range on the lens takes very wide images and a good zoom for its physical size and cost. The continuous shooting mode in manual is great for wildlife. The manual mode makes it well suited for GigaPan billion pixel panoramas.Heavy field use (backpacking etc.) of a camera can create problems - like internal dust, that are expensive to repair (~$100). This has happened to my SX110 and SX130. Extendable lens cameras can inhale dust into the space between lenses if not kept clean (keep cameras wrapped in microfiber cloths and bagged). Spending more on cameras that are likely to meet the same fate is not appealing. So, having a camera that works great that I can afford to replace is important to me.It would be nice if this camera shot 1080p rather than simply doing a great job of 720p. However, the SX150 does such a fine job of taking still photos (my main intended purpose) and has a price point that makes it the best value for me.It is true that this camera is a bit large, due to the versatile lens. But the capabilities and controls convince me that that Canon still has real photographers influencing the designing and using their equipment. The SX series of Canon Cameras are a very good for experienced or learning photographers, and continue to be the best value for my use.

This camera has many terrific lighting features from fireworks to ultraviolet. The pictures are clear and well defined. One of my irritations is the play button is next to the video button which should NEVER BE. I end up pushing the video button accidentally because I'm all thumbs! The other irritation is the flash will not automatically pop up when needed. Compared to Powershot A710, this model is lighter in weight.

When the camera came looked okay but after a couple of usage it showed a Lens Error and would shut down. I think this camera had this issue before and was sent out like this.

I spent almost a month browsing for the right camera i wanted.. and i was very pleased with this one, so i bought it.. and i'll tell you what, i made the right decision! The camera looks professional, people think i have a $400 dollar camera and i paid less then $120..But what's even better then that is the actual picture quality, the camera has a lot of features that are very easy to find and use... It doesn't take too long to focus on something, and the pictures even with the full zoom(optical+digital) still pretty sharp.There's only a couple of things i don't like on this: 1- If you try to zoom in something that is closer then about 10inches the focus just don't stay clear(even on manual focus) 2- When you're recording and you try to zoom, in some occasions just feels like taking forever to get there.. it zooms very slowlyThose are the only "issues" i have with this.. But they're not big deal to me, and the camera has so many other cool features for it's price that i still giving 5 stars!

My previous camera just wore out from the use, and eventually the lens would not extend to take pictures.I was delighted to find this newer model of the one I'd been using. It has slightly improved features (more zoomcapability and higher megapixel count). It feels lighter than my previous camera, but still takes the same greatpictures.

I've owned Canon cameras for 20 years. I've had 35mm film format, point and shoot, and DSLR cameras, all by Canon. No, I'm not opposed to other brands! It's just that Canon offers a lot of bang for your buck, and their quality has always been good. I'm not going to give a lengthy critique. I prefer to keep it very simple. I purchased this Powershot to replace an old Powershot that's seen better days (used by myself and two of my now grown children). It's also my alternative camera when I don't feel like lugging around the DSLR (camera, bag, lenses, flash). NO, it's NOT the smallest camera out there! Does it do everything perfectly? Of course not! Some of these reviews will complain about it taking too long to recycle between shots. Well, what do you expect with 14.1mp? If you feel that it takes too long, lower your mp! Unless your blowing up pictures to poster size, you problably don't NEED 14.1mp! This camera delivers good, solid quality pictures...period! That's exactly what I wanted, and, in a package that wouldn't break the bank. Additionally, I like that it uses AA batteries (I use rechargeable). Yes, I'd buy the same camera if I had to do it over again.

Great for for the price I bought rechargeable batteries they seem to last ok.it is a little difficult to get set up for some of the features that do not have a setting on the dial like action fast frame shots if a deer jumps up and you a set for auto you don't have time to change settings still it gives good photos a for my use
