Haven't used it long enough to be able to review really well, but the camera seems to be good as far as lens and sensor are concerned - clean pix.

I like this camera a lot especially since I don't have a nice phone to take pictures with. The picture quality looks awful when you take the picture but then when you go back and look at it, it looks really nice. It came with the cable to upload the pictures and an SD card but I replaced it with one that had more memory.It also came with CDs that I haven't bothered with. The only downfall is that it does require batteries and they die SO fast.Overall, I really like it.

This camera takes great pictures, however, you have to change the double A batteries every half hour. It doesn't have a rechargeable battery pack like other cameras. You would need to be a rechargeable battery pack so you don't waste money.Camera is also a little heavy for a compact camera.

I simply love this camera. This is my first Canon, I have a Nikon D5000 that I only use occasionally when looking for great pictures outdoor or at weddings and special events, and now I was looking for a point and shoot, small to take with me everywhere. And I can tell you, Canon really knows its business. I use this camera mainly to take pictures of jewelry that I sell online and it works great!!! The camera is very smart, captures color very nicely, its very easy to work with and has great functions. The lenses are awesome, and the pictures comes out very clear and beautiful. The only reason why I give this camera 4 stars is it's size. It is a bit bulky for my taste. But you can't beat the less than $150 price! Its worth way more than that.I did purchase a Battery charger for it here on Amazon because the battery's life is really short! But with the charger I have no problems at all. If you are vacationing and this is your camera, make sure you buy the charger and plug in every night, cause you will run out of battery pretty fast.In resume: great pictures, easy to work with, awesome price and a true CANON! You can't go wrong with it!Canon is definitely the way to go.

I'm an experienced amateur photographer. I've had several digital SLR's and Point and Shoots over the years. This camera is fast becoming my goto camera for events when I don't want to carry a big SLR and associated lens. Which, BTW, the more I use the camera, the more events I seem to be leaving the SLR at home.The first few times out I was feeling some buyers remorse. Battery life is awful and the flash is a little sketchy. Takes too long to charge and when charged it's slow. I thought the whole camera was too slow to focus and shoot. When it did shoot the results were great.. but I wound up buy another small point and shoot for quick snaps.Another thing I didn't like is the weight. This camera is a little bulky for a pocket and kind of heavy for the size of it.But I kept playing around, the learning curve is a wee bit steep. But as I've started to figure it it, I'm really more and more impressed.The manual settings are outstanding for what is essentially a point and shoot. Lots of controls on shutter speed and aperture. Speed goes from 1/2500 to 2 minutes or so. Apeture from f3.4 to f8.0, and either or both are adjustable.But my favorite feature is the zoom. Up to 12X with the lens, and 40X digitally. It does get grainy a the higher zoom, but for the size and money, amazing. I took some pictures from row 52 in the corner of Auburn's football stadium and I was more than pleased, even at shots all the way across the field a distance of about 175 yards or so.This isn't really a beginners camera, but with a little study and some practice I think most photographers will be very impressed.And the battery life issue was solved more or less with nicad batteries, I carry a couple spares with me just in case.

Disappointed in this camera and myself for waiting too long to return it. The image stabilization doesn't work anywhere near as well as my older Canon 720IS. It's also a hassle to remember to lift the flash then you have to wait for it to charge. Tonight I took some photos then realized it set itself down to 640x480 size.

i was looking for a small but quality camera to take hiking, and loved my previous canon powershot (which was quite dated). i absolutely love this model! it's easy to carry, very ergonomic (at least for me!), and takes great pix! the zoom is wonderful.... although i'm just a recreational photographer, some of the pix i've taken with it could be easily entered in a contest!i would recommend it highly for your amateur, recreational photographer~

I love this camera so much that we bought another one for my grandson. It takes great pictures. You really need to use industrial strength batteries. Great buy.

Now, I had no idea about camera technology. I had to do my research, but seeing the reviews and the price I felt like I had to give this a shot.I'm still learning all the manual settings, I really have no idea what I'm doing. But that is what makes this a great camera.My friend has a $1000 camera and I swear it takes pictures comparable to that. It is very easy to use and as long as your not moving while taking the picture (I had to learn this) you will get good pictures.I took this camera on my first trip to New York and I am so happy I decided to go with this one.Like I've mentioned a couple times, I'm still learning how to use it, but the zoom was great. I took pictures of the Statue of Liberty from the Staten Island Ferry and they were so clear that you could see a bird perched on her crown.There are many complaints in other reviews about battery life, which I have to agree. The batteries DO NOT last long. Throughout my trip, which was only 4 days and I took 249 pictures, I had to change out batteries 4 times. I asked my camera experienced friend about it and she explained, that is what you get with cameras that take real batteries and not rechargeable. I was sure to bring plenty of new batteries on the trip, so it wasn't a big deal. I just wouldn't recommend this if you plan on using it very frequently.It is very nice to have a camera that easily takes quality pictures to share with friends and family, and I didn't have to save up for it.

I am by NO means a camera expert. In fact, I find the whole process of shopping for a camera overwhelming. I literally went to Wal-Mart and asked the employee for a recommendation on a camera that would be good for shooting product photos (I sell items online at Etsy and my own site), and she recommended this one because it's the camera they use in-house there for passport and product photos in the store. They didn't have it so I came here to look it up.Right out of the box, this is an upgrade from my last camera, which was also a Canon Powershot. With just the simple click of the macro button I'm getting REALLY crisp, clear photos with fairly awesome true-to-color shades. I only need minor edits from there to get them shop-ready. I also like that on this camera you can manually set the aperture and the white balance, and even though I'm still learning how to do all of that it's good that the camera can grow with me as a photographer. For the price and the simplicity of use, this is a really great camera.

Great buy at this price! This camera have a beautiful design, compact and comfortable to use! Zoom is good quality for that camera. Using it during 4 years - It is still like new and never had any problem whith it. Very reliable like expensive Canon Cameras.

Works great. It is smaller in size than I expected.Looks and feels cheap also. It doesn't come with any memory. So be sure to order memory at the same time.

An amazing camera for the price. Everything works perfectly. Everything comes out super clear. So glad I bought this. I would highly recommend this to anyone needing a camera that could pass as professional quality for a cheaper price.

I should have listen to the other reviews!!!!! There is some kind of deficit with this camera that it goes through batteries in one to two sessions. I can't tell you how many important events I have missed because my batteries go dead and the camera shuts down. I even carry stacks of batteries around which is not fun at all. I wanted something quick and convenient and this is not it. I am serious considering writing a letter to Canon. Don't waste your money!!!!

This is an okay point and shoot camera for your family but it is way too big and fat! I love a camera that can fit in my front pocket while I am running around with my kids, watching sports, and exploring and this is NOT the one for that. For the size, it should be taking much higher quality pictures.

With 45x zoom and image stabilization (ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY at that mag) its great - LOTS of megapixels doesn't hurt either. Its about the same power as a spotting scope I have that yields great views of the Moon - so I took a picture of the Moon - with max gain and the IS it came out great - crystal clear and lots of detail. I just wish the software were better and that it had a remote trip. ALL digital cameras seems to have this failing - they really need some sort of cable release or other remote trip and the software should allow full operation of the camera from your computer - after all its not like you NEED any special software just to take pictures from the camera to your computer!

This camera is very easy to use for a beginner and it takes great pictures. I could not be more pleased with the use of the camera or with the quality of the pictures taken with this camera. The manual for it is very easy to read, understand, and to follow the directions. Best thing going for a person who knows nothing about cameras or taking family pictures.

Bought this camera to replace my M863 Kodak ( because quality of close-up photo of this Kodak is very poor).The quality of this Canon photo is super, clear even small letters. Need for comercial product photo.

I bought this camera to take on an overseas backpacking trip where I didn't want to carry my huge Canon 5D DSLR due to its weight and size. The only point-n-shoot camera I have used besides this camera was one of the very first Sony Cybershot cameras back in 2001. I chose this one because it had the best optical zoom (12x) than any of the other Canon PnS cameras I looked at in the same price range. (note: I turn digital zoom off because it is crap on EVERY camera so optical zoom is a huge selling point for me).Let me just say that the size and features of this camera are awesome! It is very light weight and fits into the back pocket of jeans moderately easily (its a little bulky in the pocket but it didn't bother me - there are thinner cameras so if fitting it into a pocket is mandatory and bulkiness will bother you then I don't think I would fully recommend this one). The features of the camera blew me away. I used the automatic settings most of the time (wasn't creating art - just capturing memories) and used the snow and miniature mode a lot. Both modes are awesome and I especially like the miniature mode. Very cool effect!But now the downside... this camera EATS AA batteries. Once you put in a fresh pair of AA batteries, you'll start seeing the low battery indicator flashing on the screen really soon. It really depends on how quickly you take photos to really know how many shots you can take on a single set of batteries. I was touring museums and walking through various cities with it and I would get about 30 to 50 photos before the low battery indicator started flashing on the screen. I am so glad that I took a massive jumbo pack of AA's (36 or 48 pack) or else I would have run out. Not sure if this camera will fit the custom Canon batteries that supposedly last longer than regular batteries. You could buy a bunch of rechargeable batteries but you'll need a lot if you're going to be away from a place where you can charge them frequently.I would recommend getting a similar Canon PnS camera with the same features and modes as this one but with either the custom Canon batteries or one that has better power ratings *IF* you plan on going on extended hikes or to places where carrying additional batteries or recharging batteries is not possible. If you're just going to use this for around the house, in the car, or other casual use then I would recommend it for the features and extended optical zoom alone.
