Not what I expected. I thought just because it was a version newer than my friend that maybe it would be a better camera but that was not the case. It didn't have the motion detection on it; I so wanted that feature.

The Canon is a pretty good camera but it does not take pictures that turn out as well as the Kodak Easy Share that I owned. It does take pretty good videos. Too bad Kodak no longer backs up their software.

Selected off gift registry for family member. The Canon PowerShot owned prior to this was used for years. This may seemingly lack some of the bells and whistles, but it is a sturdy, reliable camera that takes excellent pictures.

Even given all of the great features and great price, I am still sorely disappointed in this camera.I should have paid more attention to the details of the camera...specifically the fact that it uses 2 AA batteries.Not realizing that it would only take 30 photos before having to change them out, I went through 20 Energizer batteries on about 600 photos. .I then bought 4 NiMn rechargeable batteries and charger. They aren't much better as using Energizer AA ones. only less costly.To reduce the aggravation of changing them out so frequently, I just bought some Energizer Titanium batteries to carry along as extras when the rechargeable ones run out of power. I have yet to see how that works out.I am getting great photos and it has some nice features. and if I wasn't wanting to use it for more than just a few at a time it wouldn't be such a problem.Depending on how this next week goes, if it is not too late, I will be returning it.

I bought this camera because I wanted one that took great pictures and video. It does not disappoint. I still haven't learned everything this camera can do but I've taken some great pictures and videos at concerts and events. HD video is clear and playback is easy. Easy to upload pictures to my computer too. I've blown up some of my pictures and the quality is amazing. Love this camera!

I'm getting into photography as a hobby and this camera has full manual control so that you can set the aperture (f/3.4 - f/8.0), shutter speed (15" - 1/2500") and ISO (80 - 1600) separately for total exposure control.Photograph quality is reasonable, not great. Outdoor shots are the easiest because of the good lighting. Low light conditions are a bit challenging, but I was able to manipulate manipulate the settings to get pretty decent indoor shots without using the flash.As regards the battery life I had on hand some heavily used NiMh rechargeable batteries and some new eneloops. Here's a comparison of the total amount of shots (without flash) I was able to take before the camera shut down because of the low battery warning:Radio Shack HR6 (6 years old): 20 shotsPanasonic 1950 (9 years old): 48 shotsSanyo Eneloops (new): 96 shotsBased on those results I estimate about 3 pairs of good quality NiMh batteries should be more than sufficient to take care of my shooting stints at any one time.Honestly the camera has everything that I need at this stage and for the 100 bucks I paid, I'm more than happy.

This is the handiest little camera I've ever owned, and the photos are fabulous in terms of light, color, etc. I travel internationally a lot, and being able to use AA batteries to power the camera is so much easier and convenient than having to hunt for electricity that matches a plug-in. Fits in my belly bag and a big pocket...get one! Great value!

Not recommended, mainly batterias problem with that did not last long, I've tried all kinds of rechargeable batteries including mhs 2800, in a few photos are depleted energy and delay in loading the flash. I have read of other users with the same problem and found no solution. I think Amazon know this and so sold them cheap.

I really don't like this camera. Please read all specifications carefully before buying it. The picture quality and AA battery makes it worse.

Great little camera...love it. The only downside is that it does have a high AA battery usage. I like the convenience of being able to use AA batteries, but I always have a couple in my pocket or pack because it always seems to need fresh batteries when I most want to get some photos. Otherwise, it is a solid camera for the money.

I use it with rechargeable batteries, long life between charges, beautiful pix, love the 12x optics for close-ups, Very easy and quick to zoom in on subjects.

i have already tried the unit but not as much as to provide a more substantial feedback.i took quite a number of shots though, just for purposes of testing and so far i found it meeting my expectations i.e. easy to operate, handy, quick to synch to my laptop and its features like zooming, display, manipulating from auto, portrait etc. are quite nice.one thing i like as a hobbyist is the fact that i do not have to worry about charging the battery when traveling sincei can easily buy alkaline battery anywhere. and that suits my purpose.i will get back when i have fully exhausted its capability :)

You cannot go wrong with this camera. The family has 4 of them. W had to buy a new one to replace one that went swimming. Love that you can AA batteries and don't have to use their special batteries.

I believe this is the worst camera I have ever had. This camera has many problems I will just list a few bad ones. 1) power hungry, 2) even with expensive lithium batteries the flash is very slow to charge, 3) The flash is not automatic you must pop it up 4) very hard to get a good picture inside. I recommend you stay away from this poorly designed camera.

Very convenient when traveling places without outlets, just carry extra aa batteries. Great pictures, nighttime or dark conditions not so good...grainy. Maybe a better photographer could do better.

This camera would be great...except for the batteries. Like others have mentioned, this camera sucks 'em dry VERY fast. I just went to a concert a couple days ago, it was 2 1/2 hours long, i went through 6 batteries and i didn't even get that many pictures. I did video as well, but it seemed like i had to change the batteries about every 20 minutes or so, VERY frustrating. Not sure i even want to keep the camera anymore. Thought the fact that it used AA batteries would be good b/c i didn't have to worry about having an extra rechargable battery, i could just bring some spare AA's. Nope. Disappointed, as i am a Canon fan.

I LOVE my canon powershot. Easy to use for us not so "techy" people. Takes GREAT pictures, easy to transfer to computer. Well done Canon!

I loved using this camera and the number of settings available on it suited my style of picture taking. I will have to admit that dropping it on the driveway and then running over it with a Kubota tractor didn't do it much good. It actually looked better than I would have thought after getting run over, but it just wasn't in good enough shape to work any longer!

Worked well for two months, now occasionally when I push the ON button, the LCD screen won't light with the scene and/or I get an error message to change the batteries (even after I put in fresh batteries). It hasn't completely failed yet and it's still under warranty, but I expect it to go in for repair when I need it most......say around Christmas.

This does everything I need it to do. I really enjoy taking pictures with it. The only thing I dont like is it takes AA battiers.

I have only bought canon camera's since 2006 and the reason is this; Great quality at a good price. Once gain Canon delivers as this camera has not let me down since its arrival. Amazing photos, super sharp image, powerful zoom and an array of features to cover any photo shot. It has an easy to use auto feature for the not so techy person that produces nice images and manual features for the person that wants to experiment a little more with their shots. Absolutely fantastic buy for the price. The only surprise was the decision to return top AA batteries on these models but I do understand why as we have probably all experienced the cell battery dying and not being able to recharge, especially if you are away from the house or on vacation in another country. The battery life is descent as long as you always turn off the camera after taking a photo.
