So far the pictures look great. I haven't used it very much yet. It does seem like it will be a good camera. I do wish it had a rechargeable battery.

Reasons for disappointment are many!I was looking for a good replacement camera for one that had electronics failure. Our daughter has a previous version (SX130) of this camera and she has been pleased with it. I read the review on Amazon and noted the battery usage issue, but felt I could do well with some rechargeable batteries. They have done OK. The quality of photos is what I wanted to have, and ordered accordingly. However, I was very disappointed with the clarity of about 30-40 percent of the pictures, taken with a wide variety of settings, according to the scenes I was shooting. I followed the directions sent with the camera, telling me I need to push the shutter button part way to allow the camera to pre-focus for a clear shot. When I did that, often the shutter just fired, in spite of my light touch on the button. Really! (I experimented by taking a series of photographs of the same scene or person to see what the capabilities of the camera were). Most of these experimental photos were flawed in some way.The most disappointing was when I took the setting recommended by the camera menu and shot that scene. The scene was usually not clear and the colors were not vivid like I have come to be used to with other cameras, including my daughter's. I also found that there is no way the shutter is fast enough to capture the grandchildren moving even slightly when the picture was being taken. I have taken about 300 pictures since I got the camera, shooting in a wide variety of situations (outside scenery, inside group photos, photographs of individuals, photographs of children playing, photos of Christmas present unwrapping times, etc.) I have had to delete at least 100 because of the way this camera operated. I cannot recommend this camera to those of you looking for a good point and shoot camera. It has several quirks that make it difficult to get a good photo, and the pre-focus is something ridiculous when a person is trying to capture anything in a quick manner like often is expected with a point-and-shoot camera.

The camera was purchased 3 weeks ago for a trip. The pics were clear and the camera was easy to operate. The drawback would be the battery life…one should keep an extra set handy.

I bought this camera for my photography class.I would recommend this camera for those who don't want to get expensive cameras like SLR but want to learn aperture, shutter speed, AMA/ISOThe pictures indeed look different if you change those settings, and this experience will make u want to know more about what those settings are. (At least that's the case for me)For batteries, I used normal batteries and they all died in a day. I bought a rechargeable batteries and they do work really good.Mine broke 3 weeks after the purchase, but canon offers the free repair service and they were pretty nice and helpful.

It has a lot of features !!The resolution is ideal when you want to take your favorites pic's !It show's a new and high expression of your art !BUT....She is a compulsive batteries eater !!!

I wanted something more day-to-day than my big Canon SLR. This fit the bill nicely. I really like the quick record button for video, I use it more than I expected to.

Was surprised that it did not have a view finder separate from the view in the picture, which is sometimes hard to see in bright sunshine. Still an acceptable purchase.

It takes okay pictures but the battery dies very fast chiefly when you take videos.I am going to try 1.67V rechargeable batteries. I hope they work. The lens is great and the problem with the flash is that it is not powerful enough. So, same as several other canon cameras, expect dark pictures indoor.

Purchased this after our 1 yr old Sony CyberShot crapped out.Wanted a very basic camera that USES AA BATTERIES. Am so tired of lugging a charger around, and then the batteries are unreliable, CyberShot batteries with full charge would sit for 1 month, then when we went to use it, the battery died just sitting in camera.Wanted a camera with cheap, easy to find AA batteries, also bought rechargeable AA for around the house use.Only Ding to write about is it takes a LLLLLLLLLLLLLLong Time for Flash to charge and recharge. If your going after fast shots of your kids playing or pets running around, This is NOT the camera for that. If your outside then its great, if your indoors and everyone is standing still saying Cheese for the third time, then it will be fine.The Zoom is nice and again, the quality of pics is very nice. so if you dont mind the slow flash time, then you will like this camera. We do,Can I say again how much I like the fact that it uses AA batteries!wish more cameras would gravitate back to using normal batteries.

I would prefer an optical view finder, but the LCD display works adequately. Although the actual image taken by the camera showed a larger area than what was displayed on the LCD. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Took this camera to Hawaii last year. Got some good quality rechargable batteries and shot all day long. Our friends kept asking what kind of camera we had because the images were so sharp. The 12X zoom worked beautifully and the image stabilization made up for the lack of tripod in most cases. I was so pleased that I picked up another for the metallurgical lab at work. Great macro images as well.

It is super bulky and had problems using the flash. It also didn't always take pictures when I pressed the shutter button sometimes. On the plus it did take great video.

I was disappointed with this camera. When I powered it on for the first time, a white line bisected the display, no matter what mode I was in. Also, the picture on the display was extremely grainy and distorted. I had to return it.

I brought this camera last 2012 and forgot i had brought it, i took it out the box to use a at a special event and i select the video to start and push the on button and it snap the picture so I retated the selection thiking that it was on the wrong setting. i select the video recording button and again it took the picture instead of making a movie. I thought by purchase the i would up to 14.1 MP and was disappointed I put the camera away and have not touch it again. i am still useing my old Cannon PowerShot brought about 4 years ago. This camera is not damage except the video button do not work, can i send it back for a replacement.cakeflavor@yahoo.com

Great price for the camera. Camera came before delivery date. Everything came as specified in the order. Brand new camera, works wonderful. Would definitely purchase again!

This is a heavy and awkward camera. great review but the batteries only last for a few shots . Does not transport well.
