This is the same cable that came with my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 purchased mid-December 2012. It is 5 ft. long just as the original. I purchased this one to keep in the car for charging the Kindle on the go, along with this USB car charger: AmazonBasics 2-Port USB Car Charger with 2.1 Amp Output (Black) I am completely satisfied with this combination for car charging.UPDATE: The combination of this cable with the car charger, as I referenced, has worked perfectly to charge the KF 8.9. One of the drawbacks of the KF is how extremely quickly its battery wears down. There is no point taking the Fire with me on a day's outing because of its weak battery. The car charger/cable are indispensable accessories.

When my Kindle stopped charging, I contacted Amazon. The support person I talked to was Fabulous. He troubleshot my problem and sent me the link for the cable I needed and gave me a credit for the price of the cable, so there was no charge for me. I received it 4 days later and it works great! I use my Kindle everyday so I was thrilled that it was such an easy fix.Great Service!!!

I would reccomend anyone who has a Kindle Fire purchase one of these!When I purchase my Kindle Fire it came with the USB cable, however it would not charge my device unless it was completely turned off. After receiving the 5ft USB Cable and Kindle PowerFast for Accelerated Charger my device has improved. I no longer have problems with it charging and am completely satisfied with this product!

Don't forget to buy the plug (sold separately. Otherwise it's not usable for recharging. It's much bertter than the original one that came with the Kindle fire, which is now defunct. The only problem has always been that the cord is too short. I now have extension cords in three places so I can plug the Kindle in and charge while I continue to read.

As with a lot of folks, my Kindle cable started falling apart after only a couple of years. The jacket material was cracking and falling off. The really strange part is I had used it the prior day and it was fine. However, the next day when I took it out to use it, the coating started falling off.After sending an e-mail to Amazon about this, their customer representative wrote back to let me know that they were sorry that I had a problem and they issued me a credit so that I could order a replacement cable. They even supplied links to the correct cable! I placed an order for the cable and the credit covered the entire thing! My cost for the cable was covered completely.I received my cable quickly and used it to plug in my depleated Kindle to charge it back up. The cable is the same length as the original, but it is of a smaller diameter and it is stiffer than the original. The cable worked just fine and my Kindle is now back in my hands so that I can complete the book I was reading.Once again, Amazon has wowed me with their committment to customer satisfaction! How many companies would replace a cable for free on a product that is two years old?If you need a replacement cable or an extra one for your Kindle, this cable works well. Time will tell if the cable cracks, but I would not expect it to. I think that whatever they added to the original to make it soft and pliable is what caused it to crack and fail.

This Kindle USB cable is the best. I really love this cable for a number of reasons. Unlike the original cable/charger that came with my Kindle fire, it has a lot more length which doesn't leave me quite restricted. I also found it to charge faster than my original Kindle Fire cable. I highly recommend this cable to anyone who is looking to get a lot more out of there charging capabilities with any of the Kindle tablets. Also the price ain't bad either!!

If you have a kindle fire be warned... if you buy a generic charger cable it probably won't fit well and will take much longer to charge your device. Amazon should warn its shoppers of this. I bought 2 car chargers with cords and the cords are just a little off...I'm thinking it is intentional to make you buy kindle products

My kindle was not functioning well. This new cord, and the charger that I received are excellent. And my kindle seems to be working great at this time. And I like that it is longer than most charger cords, I can actually keep it on top of a table when charging without extension cords.

I've never had a customer service rep work on something so quick and know exactly what my problem was. I like that it charges fast and I can plug it into a wall outlet or a USB port. i play my kindle for long periods of time and now i can watch my movies while it is charging.

I called Amazon and this was recommended as a replacement for my First Generatioin Kindle charger. It does not fit.And they do not sell the chargers anymore. I have to return it. I am trying another usb cable sold on Amazon by a third party. If this doesn't work, I guess I can't use my Kindle anymore. I don't know where to else to find a charger

Good quality so far, let's see how it holds up . I find that these Micro USB connectors from other brands tend to not work after about 5-6 months. I bought Amazon because I can return it if it's faulty and theoretically the quality should be better.

I bought this to replace my Kindle wire & was so incredibly happy to learn it also fit my Samsung phone too. Maybe I'm behind everyone else with this tidbit of info but I was so excited. It has a good amount of length & paying $10 for wire that charges my Kindle & phone was a super score for me :)

I like that it is longer that the charger that comes with the Kindle fire. I also like that when I hook it up to the quick charging unit, it charges my devices alot faster than the normal charger that came with the kindle fire.

This USB breaks easily. Usually other brand USB cables are sturdier. the kindle isn't really designed well and this USB makes it really hard to make sure the nib of the port doesn't break everytime you need to fold it a bit.

Fits nicely in my kindle and is a very well built cord! Just the feel of it you can tell its a good product and its very sturdy so you don't need to worry about it breakingOver all there's nothing wrong with it! I would recommend this to anybody it worth the money!

Left our cord in a doctor's office far from home. This works just fine. Can plug right into computer to charge most quickly, or into ipod jack plugged into regular wall outlet. Doesn't charge fast at all when plugged into car USB or into an ipod jack that lets us use our car a/c outlet: Will operate unit but not store much power once car is off. FYI, it's not expensive to get this Kindle-made cord so I'd avoid some Stuff-Mart knock-off in case its not compatible or unreliable.

I purchased this along with the electrical plug after accidentally leaving the one that came with it at the hospital. I actually feel this one worked better then the one that initially came with my kindle fire. It seems the connection wasn't as loose and actually charged faster/better.

This is the third cable that Amazon has sent to solve the problem of not being able to charge my Kindle battery. It works just as well as the other two to charge my cell phone and just as poorly as the other two to charge my Kindle Fire. I now have a plethora of cell phone cables, a library card, and a Kindle that will charge part way sometimes if I jiggle the cable connection long enough to get it to work.

I purchased two of the cables in March 2013 and the coating on the wire of both disintegrated in a short period of time. Cables had not been used and had been stored in my computer bag and not subject to any extreme conditions.

Amazon already includes this cable with the Kindle Fire 7", the Kindle Fire HD 7" and the Kindle Fire HD 8.9". It's also great to purchase as a back up for the office or to take with you on the go. For the peace of mind knowing Amazon designed this to work specifically with Kindle Fire, it's worth the price.The quality of this cable compared to the previous white USB cable is much better. This cable has a thicker jacket on the outside so hopefully overtime it will hold up much better. Data transfer speeds between the computer and the device are relatively quick. This cable is actually a bit shorter than the white cable even though both are supposed to be 5 ft. in length. Measuring both cables, the black cable is approx 5 ft. and the white cable is approx 5 ft. 9in. Overall, even though it is shorter, this cable is starting off to be a much better improvement than the previous white version of this cable.

i bought this not for a kindle hd, but to charge my Samsung GS2 and Nexus 7 as well as my regular Kindle... and I bought it because it said it would charge them faster than regular cords, (would "turbo-charging" be a correct appropriation here?), and that is indeed what it does. it charges the bejeezus out of my things.

I wasn't sure I had received the correct USB cable when I first opened the plug but when I put it all together it fit great and I have been using it since that day with out problems and I have no complaints what so ever. I was sent the correct item by the person I talked to which shows she was paying attention to details and she knew her stuff.

First off, I do not see one thing that I would inform a potential buyer of this sleeve that contrasts what one should expect. Meaning, this sleeve is exactly what I thought I was receiving.It fits my Kindle Fire snugly and securely. The padding is not immense, but I did not expect a great amount or want that much since I wanted a sleeve, not a case. The feature I appreciate most in the Fire is its slenderness, therefore I only wanted a sleeve to add a bit of added protection without the cost of adding too much bulk. This sleeve does exactly that for me.Secondly, in regards to the infamous "smell," I did not experience that with mine. It could be an earlier production method that caused the problem for some of the reviewers, but when I stuck my nose to my Fire, I smelled precisely what I would expect a sleeve to smell like...in other words, I barely smelled anything and would have never even attempted to find out the smell but for the earlier reviews discussing it (which still hold merit!). Perhaps only the manufacturer and/or Amazon could tell us for sure if something was changed in the manufacturing process.Lastly, I am OK with the price (gasp!). You should always expect first party companies to charge a premium for their hardware's accessories. There are higher profit margins to be gained from the unnecessary "stuff" than the original hardware. Is the material and design worth 30 dollars? Absolutely not. But given this sleeve 1) has Amazon's name, 2) is intended for an Amazon product, and 3) is made solely for this particular model (Fire) of Amazon's hardware (Kindle), I am comfortable paying a bit more than a 3rd party product that in addition to not be developing for its own equipment, could be soliciting products that are intended for different models of hardware.With that said, I rate this product 5 out of 5 stars.

I own a kindle fire and its Super cool the usb cable long enough to charger and the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, livingroom everywhere and its really cheap I like buying at amazon
