I find many USB cables tend to break/fray/otherwise fail at the point where the blocky end of the charger meets the wire cable. This has a nice support piece in that location, plus the cable covering seems a bit thicker. I hope this means extra longevity. Otherwise, it has a nice tight connection to the Kindle Fire and doubles as a charger for my Samsung cell.

Electronics cases are a weird industry; most of them are relatively basic pieces of foam, neoprene or various plastics and cost a lot compared to what they are. Electronic device cases are kind of a necessary 'evil' in some ways.That said I'm still pleased with this case. Yes, it was thirty bucks but I do appreciate that it's a classy looking thing. I have the charcoal version, with the honey 'leather' strap and it's very tweed-like. Yeah, it smelled a bit when I first unwrapped it but that smell is gone 3-days later (I've had laptop bags that were waaaay worse. Like stinking up my entire apartment ...)The protection is adequate and I like how it zips only 1/2 of the way open (an "L-shaded" zipper) which makes it difficult for the Fire to slip out of the bottom as you unzip it. It's also nice and snug so the overall package is not too bulky.All in all, I'm pleased that this bag is a nice presentation. Usually I don't care about this stuff as I just want protection when I throw my electronics in my backpack. But this case merits being left on my desk for all to see ...PS: Many people seem not to know about AmazonBasics. I'd advise doing a search here on Amazon for that term and you'll see all of Amazon's house-brand cables, cases, CD-r and so forth. This is relevant as they make several generic neoprene cases for all sorts of electronics. Often time you can avoid the major brand names if you just want a simple case, even one that might be an inch too big, as you transport your devices to and from work or school. AmazonBasics have always been super good bargains, in general. Just a random example; not saying this is proper for a Fire necessarily but to give you an idea of what I'm talking about: B002VPE1Q6

I was having so many problems getting my kindle fire to recharge...sometimes it would take 10 hours. This product charges so quick I could not believe it. Usually 2 hours & I'm able to use it again.

I have only used it one time to download an e-book. It works exactly as it was supposed to work. Just wish it came with the kindle rather than having to purchase seperately.

This item makes it so much easier to plug in my Kindle to be recharged, I can basicaly charge it anywhere in my home, and as I have a bad back and bending over is not a good option, this cable makes it easier for me to use.

My Kindle cord had cracked and wires broken, so I spoke with a live-chat employee who linked this cord to me as a replacement for the one that had broken, and credited the price back to me. It's very sturdy, the only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is because it's not quite as long as the original Kindle cord, but still a great product, and great customer service from Amazon!

It works and is sturdier than the original data cables at a great price. Several cables are useful as more interfaces to devices accumulate.

The insulation on our original cable for our kindle flaked off leaving the wire exposed. Hopefully the new one will be better.

It works, not a bad price although I would have expected it to be a part of the purchase when I paid over $600 for my Kindle. It wasn't and I bought it. It works and that's all I expected of it.

yes, thank you for the cable and for your prompt help. I am up and reading as usual, again and again i do like my KINDLE read very much. I wish the story title would appear on top of each page and to also have a page number instead of % signs. I think it would make it most helpful at times. thank you again.

This was a replacement for a 1 year old charger for a Kindle Fire. The old one had stopped fully charging, but Amazon quickly sent out this high quality replacement at no charge. Now I can fully enjoy my Kindle Fire like it was new.

the original usb cable that came with thekindle fire made by haiwan was a piece of junk......worked intermittently.......the REAL kindle fire you sent me worked easily.....I recommend that you send the REAL charger not the junk one to all who invest in purchasing this fine product.....it was very frustrating to be without my kindle fire while waiting for new cable to arrive......needless to say I LOVE my kindle fire! Best bday gift ever!

this USB port worked as expected, but what wasn't expected was the great customer service from the kindle store in that it was given to me free and even shipping was picked up! I was back operational in two days thank you Kindle folk

Only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is you still have to have a power adapter to go with it to be able to charge your kindle fast. You could use just this cable if you have an extra usb port on your computer.......but I don't always have my desktop with me and sometimes I take my kindle to work and want to charge it there to be able to read on my breaks!
