ordered 2 drives, they arrived undamaged together, tried to format, one worked, one was d.o.a. returned dead drive via RMA and received new, working one. easy. completely up and running. great drives, I was pleased with customer service of platinum micro, inc. an amazon marketplace retailer. rarely do I have issues with Western Digital drives, and I believe this one was a fluke. my only mistake here was not springing for the larger capacity drives.

I have two of these drives. One of which I have owned for a year. I have never had any problems with it. The Drives are decent. Great for storing media files.

I love and use almost exclusively WD HD products now....very reliable.....BUT now that the Green 1TB is out for about the same price or less....you might want to concider that one then this one...the Green does run faster, quiter and cooler....

Recieved the harddrive in record time. Easy to set up with cloning software preinstalled. Mounted into desktop and cloned it to old harddrive, and all was well for about 2 weeks. Then I got a warning that the drive was flawed and about to crash and to save my data. After this message, I returned the drive to Amazon for refund. I am glad I did not format the old drive and was able to go back to it to run my computer. I will try again sometime in future but not with WD Caviar. May buy a more premium WD drive or go to Hitachi, Seagate or other manufacturer. Would rate this drive as zero or minus stars if the site would let me.

The desktop hard drive replaced a drive that was about 4 years old. It was easy replacement and formatting. Love the fact that standardization has achieved simplicity.

Fixed the problem with the crashed drive . Dropped right in and was easy to reload lost the data though cause they didnt back up

Bought this HDD at Amazon as I needed one immediately. I was able to get the bios to recognize it and then it was a breeze to transfer the OS from the old drive. This hard drive as sold is bare bones and does not include any software. You can download the Acronis software from Western that help with formatting and transfer of OS.

This hard drive has served me well for the last six months. So far, I've had no negative incidents, and the hard drive happily holds a good amount of data. I'm glad I bought WD!

No extras in the box - just the HDD.Works nicely, but it was not easy getting the software that comes in the retail box.Go for the retail version if you are not tech savvy.

Western Digital is the Most Reliable Drive that I know of.So why was mine DOA? Too bad I can't bill Amazon for the time I lost on this one.

This drive so far works great. Haven't had any problems and seems to be fast enough for what I need. Much better quality than the green drives.

Stable Stable Stable.I chose this drive because it was recommended by my Synology Nas.I can actually sleep at night knowing that these are great workhorses and RELIABLE.Dont go green, go BLUE!

I've bought Western Digital hard drives for years, after having Maxtor/Seagate drives repeatedly fail on me.I recently bought this hard drive after previously purchasing the SATA II version, the year before. The drives are always solid, very quiet, and work very well. You can't go wrong with Western Digital.

I've owned lots of WD drives, but this one is the quietest ever. It's seek time is very good. I'm just shocked as to how quietthis drive is. You can't here it when it's accessed.
