This drive is cool and quiet and large, which makes it perfect for my HTPC. And Western Digital honors its warranty, which is a good thing, because my first one of these locked up. The replacement is working great, and I didn't lose anything because I back up to a separate drive. I recommend getting two of these, one for back up. You won't do better on the price, and on the off-chance that one goes down, you've got your data saved on the other.

I've heard that this drive isn't the fastest on the market in the 1TB size range. That's okay for me though, as I'm using this as a wireless disk with my Airport Extreme router.This bad boy formats out to about 930GB of free space, which is expected. Perfect for my growing media library that currently has over 600GB of content.The drive works brilliantly in my setup. And it is quite possibly the quietest 3.5" disk I've ever had the pleasure of not hearing.So far, five stars!

I was looking for more space to store my photos and music, I did a lot of research and found out that this drive was the best option for what I was looking for, I also bought the Antec MX-100 enclosure and the match is perfect, the drive runs very cool even after hours of work, and is very quiet too.If you are looking for a drive that has lots of space, is quiet and runs cool, this is the best drive out there.

I evaluate drives in my work. This drive was used to upgrade my TiVo HD to improve the capacity for HD programs. I selected this drive because it has a much better power consumption profile than any other on the market. The performance level is appropriate to the application and the cost was quite right. Very low noise for the family room application and the drive spins down when not in use. (My machine is on 24*7 so that is an important feature).Tom S.

The drive works good. My only complaint is that you said there was free shipping and when I selected that and placed the order it said it would ship in three and 1/2 weeks. I then cancelled the order and placed a new order paying for 2 day shipping. Free shipping should ship within three or for days not weeks.

Two weeks ago, I replaced my 250GB data drive with WD10EADS. I chose this item because its cache memory is 32MB - twice of usual products - and its price is about $100. I am glad I made right decision. While I was moving my files from old drive to new one, I noticed much faster read/write speed from this drive. Copying 200GB to new drive took about 3 hours. I expected whole night to finish the job. Of course, comparing with old drive, I could seldom hear any noise from this one. So I think this drive will be my favorite choice for a while.

Pros: very fast, lots of storage space, right pricecons: First one crashed after three weeks, but amazon replaced very quickly.Have had no problems with the second drive, and I have ordered a new one for a raid 1 backup for my Dlink 323 NAS.

I bought one and have it running quite nicely in my Windows Home Server. The drive is definitely quiet. Speed? It runs fine. This is not an OS drive. It's more of a storage drive. If you're looking for speed, look outside the "Green" line. If you're looking for storage, and a great price, then the "Green" line is the best choice.I read plenty of feedback before making this purchase. The EACS got mixed reviews. However, everywhere I read, the EADS, which replaces the EACS, is a much better product.Amazon did a great job in packaging this OEM drive too. I've bought OEM drives from all the major online retailers, and I think Amazon did best.

Windows reports 931 GB. Great storage device. Great way to take my movies on the road. Handbrake helps me to get this done. USB is not too slow. HD requires 110 power.

This drive is cheap, has a very large capacity and is pretty fast for my needs. I highly recommend it. Tried Seagate twice and both times received drives that make clicking sounds (very annoying). Since then I am back to Western Digital. I have owned about 8 Western Digital Drives in my time and only 1 has failed.

This drive did not come with any cables (as described). Bought a regular SATA cable for $3 at a local computer store. Installing the drive on my DELL PC was a breeze. Made the appropriate Bios settings and the drive was recogonized on bootup. Used the XP Disk Management for partitioning the drive and formatting it. Absolutely no problems till now.

This is the 3rd one of these I have bought. I use them in the D-Link DNS-321 Network Servers. I am pleased with them. They are holding up. A great value for the price. (I paid $89. for the last one I bought).

Really nice 1 TB drive. These green drives are really quiet. With my ASUS 1000HE netbook and this drive connected via a hard drive docking station, you can't hear anything at all when both are idling, not even a hum. Of course, once you start doing something you hear little clicks, but not the big time crunching typically associated with older hard drives.

I got two drives to install in a drive enclosure and mirror the drives. They are quiet, installed very easily. The enclosure is on my desk 5 feet from my ear and I never hear them. I tried to do research to get quiet and reliable drives. After about a month of service I have not had any problems. I would buy these again, and buy them from Amazon. They had the lowest price from the research I did.

I've purchased two of the 1TB WD Caviar Green OEM HD recently and so far, so good. Popped into my Home Media Server and had it formatted in minutes. Runs quiet and cool, and was a great value.

I installed this hard drive into my new Dell desktop computer. It was cheaper to buy this drive and install it than to get a 1 TB upgrade from Dell. Installation was easy under Windows XP. Make sure that your system already runs SATA drives, that you have an SATA cable and a power adapter for an SATA drive (if you need one, my Dell had an extra power plug). You can find them on Amazon. Highly recommended.

After a quick WinMFS, this went right into my TivoHD replacing its internal drive where it's worked perfectly. Should have bought this in the first place instead of the Tivo official external HD which failed.

With the days of low energy bills behind us, saving a couple of watts here or there can add up over a year. Not only does this hard drive accomplish this, but it didn't loose a bit of performance either. Factor in that it runs cooler then my other hard drives (HDTune has confirmed this), and we have an all around winner with the WD10EADS.It does seem to be a touch louder then my other drives, but nothing that stands out to annoyance.

Great service ( arrived in "no time" ). The packaging: A+ ( the hard drivewas very well protected ). Fantastic price: $88.50. It's working great so far ( about 3 weeks ). Nothing but positive experience with Amazon.
