Ужасно

I followed the instructions precisely to install on a Windows XP machine. After much frustration, I was finally able to get the drive working. I have used the drive for a few weeks now and notice that sometimes it is not recognized by the computer once the machine is restarted. I would definitely not recommend this drive to any XP users.

The drive worked perfectly and the installation was no problem. When running XP, it requires that you install a utility or set some jumpers. I installed a utility since it was an additional drive. A quick program then reset the drive partition or something in about 5 minutes but I didn't have much copied to the the drive. It was painless.

I originally bought one of these to replace the failing HDD in my DirecTV DVR (HR20-100). This is supposed to be an easy operation, but it turned in to a 2-day troubleshooting and second-guessing nightmare. The DVR would keep freezing, menus were sluggish, playback was blocky and intermittent, and so was rewind/FF/Play performance. Forget recording 2 HD shows at once, and watching a recorded one meanwhile.I ended up pulling a WD Black 640 GB drive out of my computer, deleting the partitions, and plugging THAT into the DVR with amazing results. The DVR was like new again.After doing some reading, I found other users who said not to use these in Linux, as Linux does not see the block size correctly. I did some further reading, and you can apparently get them to work with some editing, but who wants to do that? I didn't bother.I tried it in my Vista machine, and it's ok as an internal drive with one partition. It's slow, compared to a 7200, but you expect that.

it's a hard drive, it's fast enough . Getting excited about a new hard drive is like getting excited over a new screw driver. It just works like it's suppose to.

None of the Cavier Green drives should be used for a RAID 1 installation. If you don't believe me check out TLER in Wikipedia. In anycase I have first hand experience (bad) trying to use two of these in a brand new Windows 7 Professional computer. The computer crashed 5 times to blue screen of death within 24 hours. I constantly got a REBUILD message from my boot screen. Within 3 days (and many blue screens later) the 2nd RAID drive stopped working. I then searched the internet and found many references to the fact that this drive should not be used for a RAID. I replaced both drives with SEAGATE BARACUDAs .... no problems.....no blue screens of death.... flawless RAID 1 performance. BTW if you install a RAID 1 or have someone else install it I highly recommend downloading Intel's MATRIX STORAGE CONSOLE to see what is going on.

Not compatable with mediasmart servers unless you have jumper on 7 & 8 then it will work be carefull

Великолепно

When searching for a "reliable" hard drive, it sounded like hard drives in general crash so often you always need to keep a few on hand, but I've NEVER experienced a hard drive crash, and I've owned about 9 or so, all from different manufacturers, but mostly from WD. This drive is no exception. It works great, and I've had no problems with it so far. I trust WD.

I kept on running out of space, despite a 500gb external disk shared between desktop and laptop. Finally when I saw this disk on sale i decided to see whether it would help me get my storage situation under control. I was disappointed that it didn't come with an SATA cable--I had to order one immediately, and disconnect one of my other internal disks until it arrived--but that's the only negative I can think of.

The drive does not come with jumpers. OEM drives don't have screws or software, but since jumpers are required to use the drive as advertised with XP (there is even a note on the drive's non-static packinging to use a jumper with XP), they should be included.Western-Digital did send me jumpers and agreed with my position, but has no plans to include jumpers in the future. Be careful you know the limitations before purchasing, specifically you can't use the drive as shipped with XP without an additional purchase or acquisition of a jumper at a repair-shop.

Really nice - installed easily enough - I put it in an iMac, so getting the actual machine apart was harder than actually installing the drive. WOrking well so far, and loving the extra space.

Installed Windows 7 Ultimate fast and easy. Probably the easiest intallation Ive ever installed on a hard drive as it was already pre-configured for Win7. The packaging was excellent. Great price btw...

This drive is a very good one, great for backup if you ask me, the Seagate drives (usually 5 to 10$ more expensive) have a better performance. Still I recommend this drive.

Installed without a hitch on Win 7 Enterprise. Used as mirror drive with Windows 7 software RAID. Running great. Delayed in shipping, but the same good service from Amazon.com.

I bought this hard drive to replace an old 300GB Maxtor drive that I had been using in my HTPC to record TV programs. Besides allowing me to record much more than my old drive, this drive seems plenty fast for what I need it to do and the price was great!

Great product. Even though it is an internal HD, I use it as an external device. I'm waiting for it to become cheaper as it happens with media storage, though. The shipping took some extra time to happen, but I would recommend this product to a friend.

I'm using two of these drives in a Drobo 4-Bay enclosure. It's sitting in a closet attached to one of my servers, so I can't comment on noise levels. They've been working for a month or so now without any hiccups, and in my experience if a hard drive is going to have problems it will either have them right away or run for years. I realize that isn't always the case, but so far it's been my experience.

I bought the 1.5tb version of this drive from Newegg and had to send it back it would not work with directv. Earlier version of this drive worked fine but not EARS models.
