I installed the Scorpio Blue 120 GB IDE hard drive (HD) in my Toshiba MX35 laptop and am pleased with the results. Western Digital's (WD) Lifeguard software that is used to make a clone of your existing HD did not work for me. It ran but I could not boot from the new cloned drive. If you can do a reinstall of your software on the new HD using your recovery CD you will probably be happier.Removing the old drive was very easy. Just remember to take the IDE connector (pops off) and face plate (2 screws) from the old HD and install on the new HD.If you do a reinstall, make sure that you have the installation CD's and license keys where required to do the re-install and you will need a fast Internet connection to download all of the updates for your software.If your old HD still works, export/copy as many customization files as possible. For instance, bookmarks from your browser, address book and IAF export (defines your POP3 connections) from Outlook, etc. You will still need to manually setup a number of customizations (system time, wallpaper, etc.) which is tricky for non-expert PC users.

Easy to install. This was purchased to replace a failing hard drive. It has brought my laptop back to life and is bettter than ever. Double the capacity of the original and faster rpms are the main reason why. Very stable no problems. Very quite but does produce alot of heat. But most laptop harddrives do anyway. I highly recoomend as an upgrade or replacement.

Because of the total failure of my laptop hard drive, I decideed to try a hard drive replacement to get a couple more years out of a 5 year old laptop. I've used WD hard drives before and installation was a breeze. Very quiet and faster than the original drive.

I upgraded my old IDE hard disk from 36GB to this 120 GB. Working fine so far. Lower noise. Not noticed much difference in speed. Stays cool.

After years of flawless operation, drive hardware failure forced me to seek a replacement hard drive for my 1st Gen MacMini. PATA type drives are getting harder to find as SATA drives have saturated the market. Amazon had the best price per megabyte. The brand new unit was speedily delivered. It was easy to install and more than doubled my disk storage.

I replaced 100GB drive with 320GB a month ago. Installation was easy: only had to move the connection adapter from the old drive and did not worry about the old Master/Slave jumper. This drive does not come with one - it works fine. It has plenty of space for partitioning to separate OS from Data. There is no software included, but Windows XP CD handled the partitioning and formatting OK. Drive has been running nice and quiet. I should have upgraded before our vacation - before we ran out of space for pictures and HD video!

I've decided it's time to make some upgrades for my notebook, like increase HD and RAM. I spent some time looking for a good replacement and perhaps WD3200BEVE is one of the highest HD capacity (320GB, PATA) you can find for older notebooks/laptops on the market. There are plenty of choices available for 120-160GB, but not so many if you like go with bigger HD.Overall I'm happy with my choice. The only things I noticed, notebook gets hotter quickly and HD is a bit slower than previous one (5400 RPM against 7200).

Usually WD drives are good. Gave this drive as a gift to my sister to increase her laptop space. Can't clone another drive onto this one. So this is a door stopper. Need to return to WD.

I have no complaints at all about this hard drive, it works fine.I have a major complaint about Amazon on this item, though. It shows on their site as being in-stock. Yet, it took a full 7 days for them to get around to shipping it, just too much bother, I guess. It shipped from Phoenix, which is usually a three day delay to me using normal USPS shipping. Yet for some reason, this shipment took another full week, leading me to believe that it wasn't actually shipped as stated, only entered on the shipping log. This order certainly wasn't up to the standards I've come to expect from Amazon.

I have always had great service from Western Digital drives. This one is the same. It was easy to find on Amazon and the price was the cheapest, by far. Delivery was quick even though I used standard free shipping!!

Used this to upgrade a older laptop i have that we are giving to my brother in law (in college). It is a big upgrade (noticable speed difference) from the 4200RPM 30GB hard drive that was present before and hopefully will help it last him a couple of years. Nothing fancy, but good for a low cost upgrade.Note this was bluk packaging which means you get just the drive in a anti static bag - nothing else. This was fine by me as i would have just thrown out everything else.

25-year Western Digital customer. Western Digital has high production values and produces consistently reliable and dependable hard drives. Absolutely am not surprised that latest Western Digital drive worked flawlessly out of the box.

I bought the 320gb PATA (aka EIDE). The drive (even though it is OEM) came packed in another small sealed box with foam cushion material just like the retail version would be (sans cables). Then the smaller box was placed in an Amazon box and filled with air bags.Once I recieved the drive, I went to Western Digital's Site and downloaded the free Acronis True Image WD Edition. Cloned my existing drive and booted up fine.No problems whatsoever.

This Western Digital PATA-IDE 320GB DRIVE works great in my Powerbook 1.67mhz, G4, Mac os10.4It was easy to install, runs quiet, fast, no issues. Thumbs UP.This was the largest drive I could find for my old Mac, Running OSX-10.4 that was PATA.

This WD drive replaced a 7,200-RPM 60GB drive in a 5-year old Toshiba notebook. I used a USB-IDE adapter and Norton Ghost to copy the old disk to the new. No problems of any kind and the new drive seems to be faster than the old one.

I purchased another WD drive as I have found them to be better than most in past experience and in fact this one was replacing an older laptop drive of three years ago and that is about as much as one can expect from any laptop hard drive. Great price and fast delivery as I have come to expect from Amazon and affiliates.

Original hard drive crashed on a Gateway laptop. New drive larger and going ok. It did take several runs to get the pathetic windows programs to run. Daughter is using the laptop for college. Much cheaper than buying new laptop.

BIG ATA drives are getting harder to find so when I found this 320mb 'Bad Boy', I was pleasantly surprised. I upgraded from a 160mb drive, which was always banging on FULL and I could not be happier with my purchase. Just as advertised - it is fast, quiet, & cool, so the extra space I was looking for is no longer an issue for me. This drive is an awesome value and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for additional 2.5" ATA digital real estate.

I upgraded a 30GB Hitachi drive (made in 2002 I think) in an older Pentium III Sony Vaio notebook with the 120GB version of the EIDE Scorpio Blue drive and it made a noticeable improvement in speed. I copied the old disk using Acronis True Image (had to "fix" the MBR with MbrFix.exe to get it to boot) and it worked great. Too bad the selection of EIDE drives (both HD and SSD) are limited and more expensive, but it you want to make an older notebook usable longer, upgrading an older drive is a great way to bring "new life" to it.
