If you work on computers you've probably run into the scenario when you reinstall the OS on a machine and find that it didn't load the proper drivers to run your ethernet connection. Well, w/o that connection it is always tough to get the downloads, forcing you to use another comptuer - push the drivers to a flash drive and then run them on the rebuild machine. Get this device and save yourself that hastle. I have had 100% success on machines in this scenario. Simply plug in the usb and wammo, it loads the proper drivers and you've got ethernet. From there you can access the internet to download the drivers you need for the actual onboard NIC.Chris BoydWindward NetworksBoulder, CO

very good product, especially in PCs whit the ethernet port disable for any reason.Windows XP and Ubuntu 9.04 install it automatically,this has saved me valuable time.

I bought this to allow networking with my Hughes DirecTivo and PTVnet from [...] it works perfectly with no issues whatsoever and I would recommend it for any one wanting to do the same with their Tivo

Amazon's info about this product does not mention that this is a USB 1.1 device. That means that the max throughput that you can get with this device is 12mbps, not 100. The packaging clearly states that this is a USB 1.1 device, so I'm not sure why Amazon doesn't have that in the details.If you want to be able to do 100mbps with USB 2.0, get the TrendNet TU2-ET100 for $5 more.

I've used this with two completely different generations of notebooks: a 7-year-old IBM ThinkPad X21 still running on a Pentium III processor (!!!) and a much more recent Lenovo ThinkPad X200 with a Core 2 Duo. No problem in either case.Driver installation is a breeze and it works like a charm under both XP and Vista (tried both x32 and x64, no problem). Haven't tried included software, but I never use third-party programs to connect to a network; Windows manages that sufficiently well for day-to-day use.

I had bought this hoping to use it in a Powermac G5 DP 2.0 (apparently the chipset is native to Mac OS X and does not require any drivers) and although the PCI card itself was seen in System Profiler, the network port was dead as a doornail. None of the activity lights would light up. To help diagnose the problem I put the card into my PC (2.8 Northwood P4) and same problem: the card was seen, drivers were installable, but the network port was dead. Incidently, this card is PCI not PCI-X. I ended up going with an Intel Ethernet 10/100/1000Mbps Dual RJ-45 PCI-X OEM PWLA8492MT instead -- which works perfectly! The Trendnet NIC might still work in Mac OS X if you don't get a defective unit like I did.

I have a series 2 TiVo that isn't networked to any other in the house. I don't need the constant connection of a wireless adapter, and the Linksys that TiVo recommended is junk. This one worked flawlessly first time right out of the package. I couldn't be happier.

If you are looking for a way to get connected to the internet without the drivers loaded for the network on your pc this is it. Simply plug it in and you are connected to the internet. Then you can search for the drivers from the pc you are working on. Don't go on another service call without this baby. Its a gold mine.

I purchased this device so that I could use ethernet on my chumby ([...]) and since it is supported by many versions of the Linux kernel without any extra drivers. This makes it incredably useful for netbooks as well to get a high speed data transfer connected with ease! I think it is a key part to any IT arsenal!

System works well..... it connects fine (the cord is longer than it needs to be)... but it only transmits data at ~5b/s.... I tried on 3 computers, then returned it for a replacement, and had the same issue.So... it's a good buy if you are only using to connect to DSL or Cable (since they are a similar speed), but if you want it for data transfer within your house, pick something else

It works great, just plug and play. I just want to add that this one is TU-ET100C, which uses USB 1.1. If you wanna get the one with USB 2.0, you should choose TU2-ET100. I wasn't careful and got the USB 1.1 one while I wanted to get the USB 2.0, but I guess it doesn't matter much, because the internet speed here is limited by the ISP more severely - it appears I'm not using up the maximum bandwidth of USB 1.1 anyway.

I have tried many ethernet cards, and this one is tops. It uses a superior chipset that is now hard to find, but it is highly reliable. Later versions tend to overheat, but not this one. I have several of them, and unlike many other nics, I am happy with all of them. This is clearly another gem from TRENDnet, and I am quickly becoming a fan! You need this card!Regards,proclus[...]

Works just as advrtised.Installation on WinXp is snap with provided CD.If not; just "update device driver" by pointing to correct file on CD.Recommended.

This thing is a lifesaver. The wireless signal is too weak in the corner of my dorm, and my ethernet port was going out, so this was the perfect solution. XP detected it right away - no need for a driver to be installed or anything. I love this thing.

Figured I'd save a few dollars and get an "off brand" ethernet card. It claimed to be plug-n-play; how hard could it be...?I spent two days trying to get my computer to recognize the card, to no avail. Ended up returning it, replaced it with a Linksys card. Popped the Linksys card in, and it was working in seconds, no muss, no fuss.

I bought a Linksys USB-Ethanet convertor before I bought this one. The Linksys is a HEATER. It's hot after a streaming use. The TrenDnet is a very good product. No installation needed, low heat, and it comes with cable.

I installed this in a brand new Vista 32-bit machine and the device manager reported that the device "could not be started". I tried the latest drivers from TrendNet's web site but that didn't resolve the problem. TrendNet's Knowledge Base also didn't have any information about Vista. Installing NIC's should be easy and this is probably the first that I've ever encountered problems with. I replaced this with the slightly more expensive Intel PWLA8391GT PRO/1000 GT PCI Network Adapter Network Adapter and everything works perfectly. For an extra $10, the Intel board will save you a lot of time if you have Vista.

Got this card yesterday as I wanted my wife's Acer notebook to be capable of gigabit speeds on our LAN. The Realtek chipset is used on this card and when I inserted it in the slot Windows Vista Home Premium failed to load the generic Realtek driver for the card but it was easy to find and install the driver from the Realtek site. Once that was done the card worked as advertised. I am giving this card 5 stars even with the added step of having to find and install the driver manually since I believe that was the fault of Windows Vista and not the card itself.

My on board network port went out so I had to buy an USB one since that is all the expansion I have left.It works great, nothing fancy but does the job ;)

It is a pretty good adapter. I didn't use the driver software that it came with because it was outdated instead It automatically found the necessary driver it needed on my pc and updated the driver using windows update. I haven't had any problems with it and it seems like it does just as good as the more expensive brands out there. I would recommend buying this one before wasting your money on something that costs twice as much.

No complaints. Product worked perfectly with Windows ME, as advertised. A 10/100 NIC card is not an exciting thing. This one was cheap, universal and well-reviewed by others. All my expectations were met and I was online in about 2 minutes.

I ordered this when my onboard ethernet died out of nowhere. This costed me around $10 and I have to say it is definetely worth the money.The install was completely painless. If you have ever installed RAM, than you can install a PCI card. You unscrew the drive plate, push this card into place, and screw it into place. That is that.I installed this on a Windows XP machine, therefore did not need to find drivers. If you are using an older OS though it does come with the drivers. Once I booted into XP it right away said found new hardware and it was ready for use. I plugged my DSL modem in and instantly it was good to go.I have been using this since June 30th, 2007 and have not run into 1 single issue. It gets full speed and never once stuttered. It is a very solid card. Great price, great product.
