I love this thing. It comes with the software to perform auto backups and it hold a ton. no moving parts, no power source needed. at this price: GET ONE

Great device, worked flawlessly. Just plug it in and it runs. I don't intend to use it for anything else then back-ups so this matches my needs.

The Transcend Storejet 320GB USB drive was easy to setup. I partitioned the unit into many partitions for various requirements, I have it plugged into my router so it may be accessed via my Time Machine backup software on the local area network for our laptops.

Does exactly what it says it does, and seems to be solidly constructed. I like the portability, and am more comfortable with it being shock resistant. It's nice not having to plug it into a wall adapter as well. I have performed numerous backups and have yet to experience a problem.

Excellent purchase. and the hard disk has one year and no problem. high reliability compared to competitors.separate is the only one I've seen in the market with anti shock.

I've owned several external backup drives over the years. Most the cheap ones worked ok at first - although almost all were really slow in data transfers. But they all seemed to have trouble within a year of even very minor use. My computer would invariably fail to recognize them or whole data files would be unreadable. Since these are emergency backup drives meant for longterm storage of irreplaceable data, I really need them to work well down the road for if and when my main hard drive fails (and they all do eventually). I bought this one after reading nothing but horror stores about most others on the market. This one sounded perfect as it is rated as much less "sensitive" to drops, vibrations, etc.) than the average drive. I'm not prone to dropping drives, but just that it CAN take some abuse indicates it's better made. So far it has been great (I've had it about 6 months I think) plus the speed was a nice surprise. Setup was painless in Windows 7 and so far is the best one I've owned. It's also the first one I didn't feel would shatter if I wasn't really careful with it!

After doing quite a bit of research on portable drives, I decided on Transcend's StoreJet 320GB portable drive based on several reviews I read, such as CNET's, as well as other user-based reviews. I wanted a drive that was super easy to use, fast, dependable, and small enough to fit in my shirt pocket. The fact that this drive comes with a rubberized cover and anti-shock protection was an added protection in case it accidentally fell off my desktop or out of my bag. Since purchasing it, I have backed up all of my networked work files, all of my iTunes music and a ton of photos and videos. Now, whenever I travel or am away from the office, I have easy access to all of the files that I need at my fingertips. In addition, I have the security of knowing that I have everything backed up in case my computer crashes. I highly recommend this drive. You will be happy you bought it!

Cannot assess durability since I just bought the product recently but otherwise it seems to be working very well ( also cannot assess the anti-shock property since I did not drop it...).

pulling it out of the box, I dropped the dang thing on the floor and it rolled (corner to corner)another 10 feet. My first thought was, "I hope it holds up as advertised, good thing I got the rugged one." Sure enough, I plugged it in and it worked just fine. I've had it about almost a year now and it hasn't burped at all. It spend 5 months in Iraq, too. Great little drive.

I have invested more than I would like to have in hard drives over the last ten years, and this is the first one that I consider to be a quality product. It's small, durable, plug and play, and so far has not lost any data. Due to the fact other hard drives I have bought have died for no apparent reason, the question is how long will it last? Regardless, this is definitely the best so far.

EVERY file a .zi_ instead of .zip on StoreJet 25M 500GB?!?!Bought this external hard drive and followed the prompts to put all contents of c: drive (Dell Inspiron E1705 running windows XP) onto it. Then deleted c:drive contents. HUGE MISTAKE. Have figured out with the help of my IT guy (after not making much progress with Transcend tech support) that every file is not encyrpted per say, but compressed and saved with a ".zi_" end. He was able to open the zip file and its contents one at a time. It appears that each individual file (1,000s) is a .zi_ file. Still waiting for tech support to recieve feedback from the engineer team in Taipei, and today when I went to check the Transcend Forum under the "tech support" tab on [..]it appears the link is broken.DON'T BUY - and RETURN IF YOU HAVE IT

Just got the 500 gig external HD 5 minutes ago. Took it out of the box and plugged it in. That's all I needed.Very small and alot of capacity. Looks very durable. I am very pleased.

I got this rugged, portable hard drive for making back up files while traveling. Just used it to back up the videos that I shot at a conference. I wanted to have back ups before the conference was over. Having this, small, lightweight, easy to use drive made that task super easy. The 320gb capacity will ensure that I can store a lot of data. USB makes it easy to connect. Two USB ports needed: one for power, one for data transfer.... yes you need 2 USB ports but there is no need for external power supply.

I am very happy with this product. I bought it to store photos, music, and other files. I have not used the software that came with this hard drive so I cannot comment on the software. The hard drive is very easy to use. I plug it in and then "drop and drag" whatever files I want to add to the hard drive. It seems well made, has a nice design and feel to it, and is quite small. I decided on this hard drive after seeing positive reviews on CNET. This drive was cheaper than similar size drives by other manufacturers and is definitely a great choice for anyone looking to buy a portable hard drive.

I'm very happy with this drive after about 3 months of use. I use it while traveling with a 2008 model Macbook Pro running OS 10.6.3. The drive is simply plug & play. No formatting. No hassles. I do not use the accompanying software so can not evaluate it. The drive itself is small, makes no sound, is powered off the USB cord so there's no need to hunt up power (this does reduce computer battery life however if the computer is not plugged in) and does everything I've asked of it. Worth every cent.

This drive felt exactly the way I imagined it would - tough. I haven't performed my own drop tests yet, but I certainly feel like I could, without damaging the drive. The design is simple and attractive, and I haven't had any issues mounting it on Windows or Mac OS. I haven't run any comparative speed tests, but it seems to be pretty standard for a USB 2.0 drive.EDIT: I've had this drive for about four months now, and not a single problem. The outer skin is completely undamaged, and I never have any trouble mounting or ejecting it with Mac OS 10.4 or 10.5. Transfer speed is great!My only small complaint is that the USB cord included has TWO connectors, which the manual says are there just in case the drive needs extra power. If you are using USB 1.0 ports or connecting to a peripheral device (like a USB port in a keyboard or on the back of a monitor), this may come in handy, but most of the time it just gets in the way since primary USB 2.0 ports provide sufficient power. It's easy to get another cord with only one connector, though, as the end that connects the drive is a universal mini connector.

So far the storeJet 25 seems to be a pretty good hard drive. The cover is smooth, sleek, and nice looking. The cord is plenty of length and simple to use as it should be. I haven't dropped it or anything yet, but it should be pretty durable. The software that's in the hard drive is pretty simple to use and has worked well so far. I'll just have to see what happens after it's dropped. Right about now, I would recommend this drive.

I've owned a lot of external drives over the years, and I must say that simply out of the box, this product immediately impressed me. Even the package was well put together and attractive. Plugging it in to my machine (running Windows 7) it started right up without a moment's hesitation. I was able to back up my digital library (as I'm a digital photographer) as well as my entire music collection, (about 200gb) in about 2 hours, maybe less. This drive is certainly durable, and being tested by the military I feel no need to drop it any other way than accidentally. Even in that case tho, I don't have any worry. I also recommend the CaseCrown case to go with it as it will extend the life of the drive when not in use (mine barely is). Overall, in every department, I give this drive a clear cut 5 stars across the board. Great investment. In fact, I might buy another one in a few months.

As usual, Amazon delivered fast and without any problems. The drive itself, although I bought it just a few weeks ago, has so far performed flawlessly and reliably. It is small and has a nice feel to it -- I personally am not a fan of the shiny fingerprint magnets that you see so often with external hard drives, so I actually really like the rubbery surface (which, by the way, creates some traction and thereby decreases the likelihood of you dropping the thing). After several hours of very quiet operation, it did not appear to generate a lot of heat. Also, no issues with power -- one USB port is sufficient. It is probably not the fastest drive available, hence four instead of five stars, but overall it's a great product and I am happy I bought it. Will probably buy another one or two.
