This was fine after the first time I tried to use it but the very first time it gave it a screen which told me the partition was corrupt so I lost most of the software preloaded on the drive, which as it seems, is impossible to replace.

I bought this unit to use at work, as the computer I use is relatively old, and we all know that internal hard drives have a limited life span. The last thing I need is to have all my work go up in smoke.I did not use the software that came with the device. Instead, I downloaded the free version of SyncBack to my computer, and it backs up my work to the Transcend drive every evening after I leave work.The drive just sits on my desk, tucked out of sight behind a tissue box, so it has not been subjected to the jolts and bumps that come with being carried around. It is small and quiet, doesn't get hot, and nobody even knows that it is there.So far, so good. I haven't had one bit of trouble with it.I just bought another one of these units to use with my personal laptop.

This product is great and easy to use!! I'm just a little disappointed that it doesn't work correctly as a storage device for my XBox 360 that I was trying to use it for---only allotted me 16 gig of memory instead of the full 500. I was hoping to have a "Super Storage Space" for my 360 but didn't work like I wanted it to. I have another one I'm going to try and use this one for my "TOTAL backup for ALL my computers" and electronic devices being the AMAZING capacity of this device. I would recommend to anyone looking for lots of storage space in a sturdy shell that won't take a lot of damage.

practically new, suffered its first fall of a desktop, without even getting dirty, I take it everywhere with no problems so far ... USB cable looks cheap next to the disk, rather it were integrated into the disk to avoid loading the cable, but the resistance has shown the record, I think I can live with that

The drive it self seems to work very good for any general use.Like other people said the software isn't the best, so if your looking for really good built in software then you might not want this drive, but if you just want a basic drive that works then this drive seems to be great so far.

I needed a bigger external hard drive for back-ups after getting a new computer. The Transcend StoreJet M3 500GB did the trick, and the USB 3.0, for which I have a port on my laptop, speeds up the process a great deal. Easy to use, seemingly durable in design. I like it.

I've had one of these for well over a year now and I couldn't ask for anything more. I use it simply to store and retrieve a large music collection with some video also. It hasn't failed me yet, the speed is appropriate enough for such an application, it's nice and compact and certainly affordable.

I received my order before the calculated delivery date, I love it!!! I can download my favorite programs, music and photos and enjoy them on any computer, it is a MIRACLE of convenience!!

With an older PC I began to worry about the safety of my data in the event of a catastrophic failure. Now I have no more worries. This unit was a snap to install and backup all of my data plus programs where I no longer have discs. I am now worry free knowing I will be able to transfer programs and data to any new PC I should purchase.

Looks good. has adequate speed and memory. I have just had it for one month so cant comment on durability however as of now looks pretty reliable.would recommend it for a normal person use as i am not very tech savvy or a computer geek.

I have had this thing for about 3 months now and the thing has never worked correctly. It always loses connection and i have to unplug and replug it back into the computer. I finally decided to take it apart to see if there was a bad connection somewhere. When I pulled the sleeve off I found that both the warranty seal over the screw and the seal holding the case together had been broken already!!!

Just popping into say a big +1 for this drive. Another satisfied customer.Great price, great size, great feel, great speed. Works great with mac and linux so far. I have carved it into 3 partitions for different uses and its working great! Can not comment on longevity of course, but feels like a great purchase so far.

I'm not the most tech inclined person in the world. I'm trading in/recycling my Macbook, and I wanted to get everything off before shipping it away. Did some research, and an external hard drive seemed like the best bet. I went ahead and got the largest model (500GB as of Sept. 2010) because of the size/cost ratio, and I don't regret the decision at all. Very easy to use, you just plug and drag. Nothing to be set up, it's like a giant USB thumb drive. Transcend has included a double headed USB port, which I ended up using, to get enough power from the laptop to actually run the hard drive. How considerate! Great product; don't be intimidated. Very friendly little device. The only con I have is the weight--slightly heavier than anticipated, but I'm also planning to carry it around in my purse when I'm out on business. (I'm being a wimp here, it's not that heavy!)

I LOVE these! I now have 6 of them. I like the rubberized outer shell for protection from bumps. I have a 160GB, (1)red 250GB, (2)320GB, 500GB and 640GB.I have found them to be reliable and not too big, to go in my pocket.

I bought this for my mac to run Parallels Desktop 6. Works beautifully! I keep all my VM's on the external drive and it completely frees up the space on my Mac Air.Nice Capacity for the size. *****Easy to hookup and use, The cable is sturdy when pluggin in and doesn't 'glitch' out when moving the drive around. *****Quiet and cool. Don't hear it and don't feel it. *****Looks nice, I don't feel like too much of a nerd carrying it around ;) *****Would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this drive because of the good reviews I saw, the presumed durability that it has, and the compatibility with both mac and pc, since I use it to transfer data between the two. I also have a 320gb WD my passport, and that's held up quite well over the past few years that I've had it. This drive definitely seems sturdier, though, and it doesn't get hot at all. I've been very pleased so far.

No complaints yet! Hooked it up, wasn't too interested in the supplied software, but I started loading data on it right away. I reformatted it NTFS for my personal likings. No noise, and doesn't get hot. I feel pretty confident in this product!
